Fun concept, I got a bit addicted trying to build up a big party! The idea of picking up party members for a separate defensive team then attacking with an offensive team is pretty innovative.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD40 → Kingdom Savior

Nice concept, annd cool user interface. But it took quite a while for the enemies to become "worse" as I build a bigger army. So, the theme wasn't very apperent for initial 1-2 mins of gameplay.
I like the base idea but some basic things like arrows moving extremely slow and the camera moving on its own made it frustrating for my taste. I would have preferred the camera following a player on a similarly random generated map, and the shooting system working faster. Kind of liked the graphics though.
"Hello stranger do you wish to join my army?" Me pretending to be some mad noblemen going to attack the evil dude with strangers of the street. Really cool top down shooter with a cool little twist of gaining more men, I really like the storing men for later use idea and have them work the mines.
Really good game, I enjoyed playing it.
The art was good despite some ground tiles hurting my eyes haha. The gameplay was well crafted, even if I would have liked some more patterns on enemy. Also I didn't understand what the defending part was for.
Anyway, good job!
Oh, I love that old-school coins and comics-looking effects on hit! The thing, this game surely needs, is the last epic battle with wizards, swords and arrows flying around! =)
I liked the concept of your game! It was an interesting take on the theme and a fresh experience overall. And the game works like a charm! It has potential.
But I think the mood needs work. I feel kinda bad to critique this because you made it alone, BUT you did put ratings for mood, audio and graphics, and the things is: your audio and the art (the quality of the graphic is fine) have to work towards the same goal, which is setting up the mood.
The game description and title gives the impression it's going to be an epic old school fantasy vibe, but just as you start the music starts throwing it off by showing EDM elements. The enemies are fine, but why do their death animation says "smash" if you are killing them with arrows? If the resources are supposed to be some kind of mineral, why do they drop coins? The main character is also kind of bland: shouldn't the main character be the best looking character in this kind of game?
And finally, I feel the game could be more punishing. But anyway, congratulations!
That was a blast to play. I really enjoyed collecting allies and choosing between managing defense/resource/attack.
Cool game! I love that you've actually put some time in adding the strategic component of attacking/defending! Great idea of connecting with the Ludum Dare theme!
A pretty fun game, but also a bit too easy. The first few levels I dumped everyone but the hero to defense and had half of them working. There was never an attack, so the guards did nothing, but I still cracked the 10000 resources without even noticing. Still, it has an amusing look and a fun foundation, it could just use a rebalance.
This reminds me of those airplane games where you're scrolling forward and you get to shoot a bunch of enemies while being in a constant bullet hell. This adds a nice twist! Sound is great and so are the visuals
I enjoyed playing this game, great job! :)
Neat game! I ended up dumping everyone to get resources every turn. but I'm not sure if that was the best way to do it since I guess that ended up being bad. Either way it was still fun to play. Good job!
Fantastic. Could hardly put the game down. That said, I didn't really understand why I should put guys in the defense side vs. the attack side.
I liked it. It was quite addicting. At first I thought that the enemy arrows moved way to slowly, but it became a lot harder to dodge when the group was growing. Great job!
Great job :D Should keep working on this!
Well done, i'm here for writing review after i finished the game, i've only figure out the workers are able to work will they're defending in the end, eventhough i still able to finish the game. The art is neat, but without a uniform style.
The usage of the theme wasn't too smart. But I feeld like my "minions" don't really matter on the game at all, cause I don't needed them as much as they could.
This is one of my favorites from LD40! Great job!
A fun game! R-type meets (very) light resource management. :D Lost some high level guys on the way, but I became the legend!
Great game ! Didn't realized until I had 0 that it takes some 4000 resources to heal! :p
Reminds me of a niche, east-European, real-time-grid-and-party-based-tactics game from some years ago. Not that I can recall its name! This here is a very bare bones version of the idea of course, but such is the case with limited time, eh?
The two modes work well together in principle. Making decisions on who stays defending, how many workers can I spare and who goes on the offensive are all interesting choices. Surely the hero cannot attack alone?
Well, there we get to the issue of balance. It is way too easy to win. All I did was put everyone working, except a few guards, and attacked alone. Had 10000 crystals in just 7 days! The enemy didn't attack once! I tried again, marking all warriors as workers everyday and lo! Got through the whole thing in mere 5 days!
There is quite a bit of tweaking required to make this challenging, which is completely doable. The enemy should attack more often even if the threat level is low. That simply means their attack is weak. The hero should be much more fragile. Currently there is little incentive to attack in a group, the hero can tank a lot of shots and dodge most of them due to the high movement speed. Using warriors as meat shields is your intended design by the looks of it, but it is completely unnecessary.
The graphics are borderline ok, it seems the 2D and 3D assets don't exactly match. The crystals are coins in the attack level for instance. What is up with that? The environment textures are the worst of the lot, garish to say the least. I do recognize a few of the 3D models from Clone Colony, maybe trying a different style would work.
The sound effects too are at odds with the epic soundtrack! Seems to be a bit of a trademark of yours that!
Adequate job, more play-testing and polish needed!

I liked this game. It was like playing a scrolling shooter but with a twist. I spent alot of time playing. Great Job.
