LD44 — Your life is currency

Wizard of Worth by schizoid2k 2019-05-04T09:40:34Z

I did $0.28  Fun and well implemented! The controls feels good and I find the base mechanic works well. I would have been nice to be able to use arrow keys (I had to switch my keyboard from AZERTY to QWERTY to play the game). It's also great that you added visual and sound feedbacks for almost everything. These are small details that make you game very polished considering this is a compo! I would have added a visual feedback showing that a coin is about to disappear. Very good job.

Robot Town by quadtree 2019-05-04T10:46:20Z

Nice game, it's an interesting idea to upgrade your weapons using your health. The music creates a good atmosphere.

I found it a little difficult to aim just using the directional keys.

Dungeon Sweeper by japes 2019-05-04T08:54:01Z

Great idea, which fit really well for the classic game theme, I'm glad you decided to work on it anyway. It's good to play minesweeper with three extra lives.

It would be nice to see some loot to collect in the dungeon, or some monsters to to fight. It could be a good idea to have different layers of minesweeper "hints" point to different things in the dungeon.

Traade by Ace17 2019-05-04T09:55:49Z

Very good puzzle game and nice simple art style. It would be nice to have some feedback, to show that the lives are maxed at 3 because it took me a while to get started ;)

Nice interpretation of the theme :)

Florp Farming by groverburger 2019-05-04T09:21:46Z

I really like the quirky art style, and found the different upgrades inventive. Like F1Krazy, I also found the beginning a little slow.

Oscilloscope by Shard 2019-05-03T12:11:11Z

Innovative, for sure! It took me some time to understand how it works. I find it very difficult to elaborate a strategy to win straight from the 3rd level. I would try to make the difficulty increase more smoothly. I would also add some sounds at least on the buttons to have a feedback when clicking.

Peak Myths by fashionbatman 2019-05-01T21:39:31Z

Interesting interpretation of the theme. Sounds made me laugh

Fairy Hell by alix 2019-05-04T10:58:55Z

A fun little game! It would make a great mobile casual game.

I didn't get any feedback as to how much I was sold for when they caught me, it would have made it fit better into the theme ;)

John's life Simulator by AerohandKetian 2019-05-04T10:41:21Z

I'm sorry but I found the killing people for money theme a little too edgy and disturbing. Maybe if the characters had been a bit more abstract, in a fantasy setting, like a family of ogres, or they had simply been sold it would have passed better.

I finished with only 35 dollars, but my family survived ;)

Devil Slots by CarlosPidox 2019-05-02T02:39:19Z

Playing your game was really fun though I did not manage to get further than floor 5 :) As a compo, I really don't think it's lacking of art assets! I found the graphics coherent, the gameplay is good, the audio is excellent. I love the gambling thing but I found it difficult to see quickly which buff/debufs you get. There's also some balancing to do of course. Still, you did a very good job.

Goblin Castle by johnnysix 2019-05-03T11:59:05Z

Graphics are quite polished for a 48h compo. Mucis/audio is very good and it's a funny interpretation of the theme. It's obvious that you ran out of time to balance the controls/gameplay and to add content but it's a really good job

Paynplayne by OrbitalBlueprint 2019-04-30T22:48:59Z

Very coherent game as a whole, fits perfectly the theme. I wish I could do as much (and as good) in 48h!

Hello, my whole life. by haley 2019-05-04T10:27:41Z

I really like the atmosphere of this game, the graphics and the music create an artistic atmosphere.

I tried three times, but couldn't manage to clear my "spirits" once I had died, because the character was too close to the mouse and kept getting damaged again. Maybe there could be an area around the character that is a bit larger so that they could be collected more easily?

Maeko's Memories by Carraka 2019-05-03T13:30:56Z

Amazing work in 3 days. Even if it is not my favorite genre, I can see how everything is coherent : story telling, arts, audio and the implementation of the whole (I tried the bug bug fix version). Obviously an excellent take on the theme

Reaper's Keeper by chelC 2019-05-04T10:01:02Z

Very charming game, and fantastic artwork. It was a lot of fun to play and very well paced.

I really liked the boss who slowly creeps in through the door every time you mess up, it really adds to the atmosphere!

Sewerbird's LD 44: Space Boast by sewerbird 2019-05-04T10:55:02Z

Very nice, and well done for learning clojure at the same time as making a game for the LD.

The betting mechanic is a good idea, rather than trading directly your life for upgrades.

As cheese said, I didn't manage to get any more money after the third round... even though I tried all to way to A and D :)

Meaningful Life by Belea 2019-04-30T22:18:27Z

I managed to survive the 2nd time but I think I nearly broke my space bar to fly as mush as I can! :) I love the way you interpreted the theme and the atmosphere you managed to create there. Maybe the sounds should be adjusted to be less present. I found also that you have to walk on the other chicks to survive... Another message of the game ?

Kat's Flowery Fever Dream by topbraj 2019-05-04T08:43:56Z

Great game which works very well with the theme :) The ambiance is very relaxing, so it would be a great casual game for mobile. The music fits perfectly.

It would be good to have more feedback as to the price of the flowers going up or down, like an arrow just next to the figure so that you could predict which flower was going to be more expensive at a glance. Maybe a water upgrade also, so that you can start watering the flower in batches of 20 or 50 as your flower grows :)

Zoltanya, Outdated Robot Fortune Teller by AzimuthGames 2019-05-04T09:42:32Z

This is a very good interpretation of the theme and l really enjoyed the mood and the art style. I felt transported right away into the fortune teller character in the booth. There's a kind of "Five Nights at Freddy's" vibe too :)

However, I couldn't really play the game... I tried the mini game to get customers, but couldn't figure out how it worked. Maybe an easier level at the beginning would have been good so that we could understand how the hack works.

I would really like to see this game completed, I think it's a very promising concept.

World Class Track Meat by Dan Thompson 2019-05-01T01:15:49Z

Tried the three "payment method" : I hope you laughed while making the game at least as much as me while playing it  As @entirelybees said : "hilarious". Not to mention that I love the music too. Well done!

Killbi by HEXIEZ123 2019-05-01T03:05:31Z

I like many aspects of the game : the sucking mechanic (and the visual effect you did for that ), the movements are fluid (as @egawag said), the map is huge, the sounds and many other things... I find the camera upgrade an excellent idea. It looks like you planned for an ambitious compo. Maybe you could have polished some basic aspects of the game before going for the Abilities or the Power-ups. I would have made the sucking a weapon like the sword or the laser gun but less less powerful. Then the player could switch between sucking or a weapon which avoids having an extra key on the keyboard to switch to while moving. Great work!

Time Sucker by Nexusviper 2019-05-03T13:51:48Z

I love the character and the overall atmosphere in your game :) Usually I am not keen on countdown based mechanics (I mean, when you have a limited time to achieve something) but it's one of the game where it's really fun! Sound effects would have add a lot to the fun. Great job.

The Wacky Adventure of John by coolDude38 2019-05-04T10:15:57Z

Nice game :) I think my record was 5 monsters, it needs balancing a little more, because I was very unlucky with the loot, and felt that it was quite difficult to progress and would like to have seen more.

I read your comment that you were quite discouraged by the way the game turned out, I do think that this is a good idea, which made me want to replay to see what loot I would earn in the next run and if I could survive. You have more time to work on polishing it now that the game jam is finished :)

Parkour De La Death by Codesity 2019-05-03T12:29:27Z

Won with 18L of blood left (4 tries). I love the concept : the try-fail-learn-repeat thing and the feeling it gives you that you're becoming good at playing the game! The blood countdown instead of a time countdown adds something to the atmosphere. The "Wrong path panel" is a nice idea too. I know that you did a lot in 48h but it misses some sounds to add to the fun. Very good job though

MassTransfer by IvanPavlov 2019-05-01T22:48:46Z

The mass distribution concept is very interesting. Controls are very intuitive and well implemented. You also succeeded in having a kind of natural physics. Another thing : you learn how to play the game by (safely) experimenting which is something I appreciate in games. Good job.

Memories of a Captain by OwlyCode 2019-05-01T01:55:19Z

Very nice looking game with a rich and effective atmosphere. I wonder how you manage to do that in a week-end. I felt like a jedi dodging the asteroids : I am not good at this kind of game but it made me feel good at it! I like also the humor "She found a new job as a waitress on Kaz-III" Of course, as others already said, I would place the text in a place where it's easier to read while flying. Maybe, during the text, there could be less asteroids ? Also, I didn't understand how to use the engine upgrades and why it's good to buy them. Very nice job anyway!

Charger by CraftLord 2019-05-01T21:51:28Z

You did well in 26h  I like the graphics and love the music/sounds. A slightly faster ship and some bonuses would have been cool.

1024 by chrisdugne 2019-05-01T00:59:26Z

Simple yet efficient. Did 1110 the second time but I did not manage to more than 1000 after that. I wish I could have more than 10 clics sometimes  A sound effect when destroying the blocks would have been nice. Very good job, especially considering you had 10 hours !

Exploited by HugzFnr 2019-05-06T22:15:01Z

Well done for you're first Ludum dare entry. Especially considering that you were learning the basics of Unity ! I wish the controls felt better. I didn't manage to go further than level 2. I like the humor of the game though

Little Baby Bloodbag by Trevor Shoe 2019-05-03T14:05:08Z

Fits the theme and considering it's a compo, it's amazingly polished ! Bravo

Fluffender by Kalashnikov 2019-05-01T22:04:49Z

I like the cat's 9 lives thing  very good idea! The gameplay need some adjustments to be fluid and well balanced. Congratulation for your first entry (and finished game!)

Pigly Penthouse by ComboMan 2019-05-04T11:06:14Z

The piggy banks work really well for this theme :) The graphics are very well done and the music is fun.

It's entertaining to try and find a way to pass each level, the controls are a little difficult to master :)

Stargem by Rheel 2019-05-01T22:20:37Z

Very hard ! I managed to get 2 blue gems after about 10 Attempts. Audio did not work on my PC (I only knew there was music by reading others comments). Even if the graphics are simple, I like the atmosphere it gives to the game. Very nice job.

Tooth, Claw & Teacup by HenanBoy 2019-05-04T09:32:12Z

Well done for your first Ludum Dare :)

I really liked the art style and theme... the sound effects worked really well too. It's a fun concept to run around the map looking for the monsters with a cup of tea!

It might be a good idea to have the monster be knocked back a little when we hit him, as he is already very close, and it's difficult to avoid damage.

Faustian Sands by Seb Jones 2019-05-01T02:18:33Z

I find your compo interesting as well as the feelings it gives when you play it. Usually, I find it difficult to make in-game choices that are not in line with my values (yes I know...). I did it anyway to see where those deals would lead : my favorite is the effect when you choose to loose an eye :) A music would have added a lot to the atmosphere!

Slice Me Out by Marcus Gambit 2019-05-01T00:43:02Z

@chrisdugne Thank you so much for your feedback. You're absolutely right : the player should not restart from the beginning.

Slice Me Out by Marcus Gambit 2019-05-01T01:19:05Z

@dan-thompson Thank you !
