LD44 — Your life is currency

shoot out your life by puppetmaster 2019-05-15T00:09:56Z

Very polished game on all fronts. I especially liked the graphical style and the color palette you chose. Made my hands sore trying to keep up by the end! I scored 22194. Would have liked to be able to hold left/right to move more than one row but I know I'm just nitpicking here. Great job!

Information Age by tater-hater 2019-04-30T03:29:55Z

I really liked your take on the theme, and your a e s t h e t i c s were top-notch.

Baby Benjamins by foolmoron 2019-05-15T00:40:28Z

I really enjoyed this one. It was very fun to just fling things around, and to combine bills to see what the next tier up looks like.

The Price Is Life by sreal 2019-05-01T00:35:55Z

Nice job! I especially liked the music

Ballhogs by tddawson 2019-05-05T18:38:21Z

Really cool concept! It can get frustrating when your teammate starts with the ball and goes and scores before you can even catch up (it would help if there was a brief pause after a basket, since right now you kind of just continue the motion you're already doing). However, once you start to get the hang of it it's really satisfying to steal the ball and go score. I also really liked the lo-fi 3d graphics style.

Soulful by voxel-box 2019-05-01T02:02:29Z

Simple, but effective! The graphics are really nice. While the aforementioned slidy-ness took a sec to get accustomed to, I didn't have an issue with it and I thought it fit well with the design of the character.

Spider Disaster by ytaha 2019-05-15T01:04:18Z

It took me 4 or 5 attempts to get the hang of it and not die immediately, but once I did I had a lot of fun with it. I didn't always understand why an attack worked or didn't work, a little more feedback or consistency there would have been nice, but I really like the graphics and enjoyed mowing down the other smaller spiders to enhance myself. Great job!

Kill'em by Aycan 2019-04-30T01:15:19Z

Cool game! I like the concept and I think it fits the theme really well. Like OddballDave mentioned above I like how the effects of the cards require more thought than just going for the highest number.

That Time When I was Reincarnated as a Coin by randomphantom 2019-05-05T19:11:43Z

I really enjoyed this one. Trying to get a diagonal roll going to cross the chairs was maybe a little too finicky, but otherwise I thought the controls were just tough enough to present a challenge, but feel satisfying once you got a good roll going. The graphics were great and the style is very charming, and I felt a great sense of accomplishment with each level I completed. Awesome work!

Nexcidium by keanutah 2019-05-01T01:13:36Z

I'm very impressed at what a polished game you were able to put together, The whole presentation was great.

Shark Turf by Gus the Shark 2019-05-01T01:21:18Z

Good job! This was a joy to play.

Work Life Balance by DigNZ 2019-05-05T16:28:33Z

Nice job! I found myself giggling at all the "actions" I could take during the meetings

World Class Track Meat by Dan Thompson 2019-04-30T01:43:41Z

Thanks for playing! I was thinking about some kind of explanation for being able to throw the discus with no arms, but I figured I'd leave it up to the player's imagination (not to mention I ran out of time to animate anything for that one...).

Robooto by Wassim 2019-05-01T01:03:14Z

Great job! I liked what you did with the theme, the gameplay worked well, and I definitely enjoyed the robot dabbing :)

Hollow Priest by pandan 2019-05-05T18:13:46Z

Really well done! One of the more polished games I've played so far. As everyone else mentioned, the hand decay effect is fantastic.

Transfusion by DecadeDecaf 2019-05-03T20:01:44Z

As others have mentioned, the controls took a little getting used to, and it was kind of hard to keep track of what a combined creature would turn back into when you split up again (if you were using a different body than the one you used to transfuse), but otherwise I was really impressed at what you were able to put together in 48 hours. The mechanics were simple but had plenty of depth, which was used to great effect as the levels went on, and the overall presentation was delightful. Great job!

Nine Lives by J Briggs 2019-04-30T02:54:08Z

Nice job! I thought it controlled really well. The cat(s) changing colors and the names being shown for each life was a nice touch.

Collecting Really Nice Cats! by cheesepencil 2019-04-30T02:35:51Z

While I thought the theme was a little bit of a stretch, I thought your game was very fun and it had me giggling the whole time. I failed the first time but I was like "I know I can do it!" and got all the cats on the second try.

Sour Business! by GabrielH 2019-04-30T03:11:32Z

I really liked it! The visual style was so fun and I enjoyed the silly sound effects.

Top Hat Terror by neonjeff 2019-04-30T01:28:03Z

The movement is a little strange but I really got a kick out of the vibe and the audio. Making your top hat grow in height with your money is quite a strange idea but I definitely enjoyed that. Great job!

Slice Me Out by Marcus Gambit 2019-05-01T00:47:52Z

I only wish you had more time to make more levels, because I really like the concept and mechanics! Nice work!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Undead Car by M2tias 2020-05-10T21:01:04Z

This was cool, and it looks great! It took me a few tries to quite understand it, but once I got used to the cycle of drive for a bit, check a building for gas, shoot some zombies in my way, it made sense and it was fun to balance the tension. I didn't really understand when the zombie radar ran out and killed me one time since I wasn't close to a zombie, but once I grasped that it was basically a timer it made more sense. Nice job!

Dream Team by notime4games 2020-05-09T13:52:38Z

Great concept! I would have loved to see more levels like the final one that took more advantage of the grappling hook, but I know with a jam you've only got so much time, and what you have here is well-executed. Nice job!

StayTogether by n8___ 2020-05-09T13:39:51Z

Cool game! I maybe would have liked to see a little visual variation as you progress, I was definitely moving in circles at one point. Regardless, the limited view did a great job setting a mood and adding tension.

Crystal Tag by uvwar 2020-05-10T21:55:52Z

Thing I didn't like was just how much idle time there is--I reached a point where I kept regrowing and breaking and just hoping for another crystal to cross my path and allow me to move again but it just didn't happen. That said, it looks great and is enjoyable to watch and the music, despite being a bit repetitive, captures the vibe of being in a cave with shiny crystals perfectly. Very good job for a jam game, I just wish there was more the player could do.

Keep the Streak Alive by tompudding 2020-05-09T15:22:41Z

I have to admit, I did not realize for quite a few levels that you could move and rotate the boxes... once I did, I had a much better time. I really enjoyed trying to set up a shot and I liked how each level made things just a little bit more difficult. If I had one suggestion, I think a "repeat last shot" option would have been great--I had difficulty repeating previous shots after moving boxes to where I think they needed to go and it would have been nice to lock in power/angle. Obviously if you're trying to emulate real life (like Gritty) then you made the right call! Overall, great job!

Secret Protection by dcrdro 2020-05-10T21:22:34Z

This was pretty fun! As other people have mentioned I think it would have worked better if the shield pointing where your mouse was pointing--I felt like I was fighting against my instincts the whole time. That said, I enjoyed it and I thought the little alchemist was cute.

Heart Beats by Zitao YE 2020-05-09T16:47:58Z

I thought this was really cool! It provided an interesting challenge. It was a little difficult to read the messages at the top of the screen while keeping everything going but that difficulty was part of the fun

Life by esenti 2020-05-09T15:38:52Z

Cool concept! I found it difficult to really strategize, and it felt like sometimes a chain reaction of "explosions" would work its way to the bottom of the screen and there wasn't much I could do to mitigate it. But damn if it wasn't fun to fire off a bunch of shots and watch all the chain reactions happen!

Feeding Mr Biggs by Marco Stagni 2020-05-10T21:15:13Z

I like the concept and use of the theme, and the graphics are great for a jam game. I didn't like how the desired food seemed to change randomly--it made it feel like I couldn't really strategize because the food I'd pick up wouldn't be desired anymore by the time I could get it to Mr. Biggs. I also would have liked to be able to replay a level after failing, rather than having to restart. This is one of the more polished-looking games I've reviewed so far and I think that's impressive.

Hell's Desk by nate_wec 2020-05-09T14:17:25Z

I wish there could have been more trading involved to get to the end, but I like the concept and vibe and absolutely enjoyed talking with the demons and seeing all their cool designs. Good job!

Platdaughter by TheBaecun 2020-05-09T16:07:22Z

Cool concept, but like the other comments have mentioned, the difficulty is a bit too much from the get-go. It's very hard to get past the spikes at the very beginning without accidentally killing yourself or your daughter. I know it can be hard to balance difficulty on a jam game--I've definitely made ones that were way too hard.

Ordinary Human Conversation by MikeSalyh 2020-05-09T16:21:54Z

This was really fun! Going in I thought it was going to be easy, but I like how the difficulty ramped up and you never knew which attribute you were going to have to try to match. Really great, polished graphics and presentation as well.

A Test of Morals by Kylene 2020-05-10T22:18:36Z

Good job, simple but interesting. Obviously there's only so much complexity you can do in a jam, but having the three different facilities to manage was a good move, much more fun to try to balance than if it were two options. I enjoyed the music too. As xeniaeo mentioned, the text on the How To Play screen is too difficult to read.

Pelican Play Ball by vfqd 2020-05-09T14:33:51Z

Clicker games aren't generally my thing. but I thought this was really well done. I loved the 2D/3D graphics, the SFX and music cues were perfectly executed, and the overall vibe/atmosphere was great. Awesome job!

Tiger Chow by Dan Thompson 2020-04-20T15:32:48Z

Thanks so much for playing, Mike! I over-scoped a bit relative to my abilities and adding a proper scoring/rating system completely fell by the wayside as a result. I agree though--in hindsight I would have re-prioritized and put a timer in there.

Tiger Chow by Dan Thompson 2020-05-11T17:38:55Z

@joemid @thedouche @roka-josh @demandooda @nurkkacthulhu @snory Thank you for the kind words!

@whiteseraph I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, but I appreciate you being honest with your feedback!

@limbo @zondarg I definitely wished I had the time to do music/SFX! I think I was a bit ambitious relative to my programming ability and I just didn't have the chance.

@melomel ...I can't believe I didn't even think about showing a tiger in the game until I read your comment. I agree, I should have done that!

@cheesepencil Thanks for the comment, I didn't see this mouse cursor visual issue while I was making the game so it didn't even cross my mind. I'll have to keep this in mind on future games, that it wouldn't hurt to add an extra graphic at the mouse cursor for clarity.

@dcrdro I was aware of the overlapping issue, but I didn't really feel like trying to fix it... lol (I didn't really have time anyway). I did also enjoy trying to get multiple meats with a single click while I was testing. Definitely a point where I skipped a bit of potential game polish, though.

@julienlussiez @blobo @ixio Thanks for these comments, I definitely agree that it's a problem point with the game, and it had to do with how I figured out how to quickly make those parts work on the programming side. Upon reflection I've thought of a better way I could have done it, but too bad I didn't think of that at the time haha. As such, my method required specific start and end points, and I definitely could have made that more clear in-game so it would be less frustrating.

Tiger Chow by Dan Thompson 2020-05-11T18:03:18Z

@cheesepencil Ahhh that makes sense! I've got a 1080p monitor.

Feeding Words by notgreat 2020-05-11T17:59:10Z

This game was super fun! I also didn't realize at first that the letters turning red was the "timer," (I guess this is where I admit that I didn't thoroughly read your description before I jumped in...) but once I did I enjoyed the challenge of trying to stay ahead of it and scramble to find new words. The durability of the letter tiles was a cool touch that also added an extra layer of strategy. Awesome job!

Protect the Egg by dk5000p 2020-05-09T15:45:53Z

Simple, but fun! Would have been nice if the jump was variable (hold the button down for less time = jump goes less high) but I had fun nonetheless.

Theogenesis by Ixio 2020-05-10T21:33:26Z

I think the concept is cool, and it provided a fun challenge! Despite the "Help" button explaining the mechanics and controls, I think it wouldn't hurt to also include that information on this page so people can read it before jumping into a game. Good job!

CHARGER! by Symphonia 2020-05-09T16:16:13Z

Simple but cute! Fun art, I enjoyed all the sarcasm in the messages for the places the charger isn't, and I appreciated the randomness you added so it wasn't just in the same spot every time. Adding the ability to press ESC to quit is worth bonus points in my book--I've had to alt+tab out of way too many of these jam games lol

My Pet Rock by GameGenesis 2020-05-09T14:03:59Z

This game really had me on edge haha! Loved the vibe you created with the audio and the art. I was very happy to get out of that basement!

The Last Stand by DangItsPang 2020-05-10T22:59:16Z

I like the idea but the difficulty is a bit too high, I think. I played a few times and just couldn't upgrade enough to avoid getting swarmed. I do like the basis of the game and the amount of upgrade options you were able to include is great.

Skeleton Crew by BoltzmannsBud 2020-05-10T21:07:03Z

Nice job! I liked your approach to the theme. Other comments have already mentioned the movement and the looping of the music. It was short and simple, but this game brought a smile to my face.

Force field by electronic_steve 2020-05-10T21:45:23Z

I had a lot of fun with this one! I liked how you introduced each element and then brought them all in simultaneously at the end. Simple, but there's enough variation here that it keeps it interesting. The particle effects were pretty good too.

Spread by SapporoVHS 2020-05-10T22:42:59Z

I loved the art, audio and presentation. I think the balance might be a bit off? I played a few times and every time my communications and oil cities were destroyed really quickly but I could put my hospital city in testing mode and end up with an S rank. That said, I totally understand the issue of balancing a game properly during a jam, and what you've made here is impressive nonetheless.
