Nice entry

nhidares 2017-04-25 12:37

definitely 5* in category of mood :)

nate-wec 2017-05-01 05:44

This was awesome! Theme and mood 5 outta 5 but it didn't do it for me in the innovation and fun but overall 4. Good job

hadik 2017-05-01 13:40

Good atmosphere, I like it :)

sebasrez 2017-05-01 23:06

Very cool idea, and I would have loved to see more with the bottom screen since it is interesting how it interacts with the one above. Some points where the music is louder than Carl, making it hard to hear him. Great work, looks very nice.

Hey going to play it tonight on my channel. Carl Sagan reference is enough to peak my interest

caterein 2017-05-02 00:05

Hearing Carl Sagan talk is always a pleasure, great idea :)

scornz 2017-05-02 00:24

I know a lot of other people are saying this, but the mood is unbelievably good for a game jam. Nice job!

abhimonk 2017-05-02 00:58

Very impressive work with the music and the overall mood. I will say, it doesn't feel too much like an actual video game. That said, it was still a very memorable experience. I think there's a lot to be said about the small things in this game, like when you get hit by an asteroid it looks like it actually ricochets off your ship in the window, or when you pass a planet on the hud, you see it zoom by in the window. The hit sound effect was also amazing. It felt like a deep bass drum that fit with the music. Nice work!

Excellent, you found a new way to make people read, possibly, I think it could pay off to develop and polish this idea more. Very effective ending.

antaresvaldemar 2017-05-02 05:09

This was a novel experience, not a lot to talk about in terms of gameplay but a nice visual accompaniment to the Carl Sagan monologue, pretty atmoshperic!

lenon-kramer 2017-05-02 11:46

This. Is. Absolutely. Amazing.

Not much "fun" in terms of gameplay, but yeah, you definitely hit the mood 5 of 5. And this is certainly an innovative way of present a text and a message. The mini-game definitively fits the overall message, and the way it interacts - the collision effect and sound - works very well to keep the player engaged on the experience.

Congratulations!

Well-constructed experience that is also a great way to interpret the theme. Loved how the game world and the mini game screen were in sync. Super thick on the Mood part. I wish you would include the option to not invert the Y axis though, I always get confused by inversion.

I love the idea, as much as I love this little excerpt from Sagan's book. I was underwhelmed with the execution, though. While it's a beautiful artistic representation of the celestial bodies in our Solar System, a more "realistic" art direction, one reminiscent of the actual Voyager flightpath and/or the Family Portrait photo series would be much more profound and true to Sagan's legacy.

The game itself is nicely done, though, especially with such time constraints. Can't imagine how I would do it myself otherwise. High points for mood especially!

oberynmartell 2017-05-03 01:01

Wow! Very beautiful . Thanks for that!

sambrosia 2017-05-03 02:02

Wonderful! I feel like the lighting and textures inside the ship were odd, but not too bad.

cremmy 2017-05-03 07:46

Mismatch between shadows on planets and sun's position bothered me more than i thought it would. I don't think you can lose this 'game', so why not remove completly the part with dodging the asteroids? Instead you could make more 'artistic' game, with different path through the Solar System, with more time spent on each planet, maybe even including their moons?

cvetk0 2017-05-04 21:19

I could just skip the asteroids part and just watch the planets slowly zooming by. Great atmosphere!

tylerraz 2017-05-07 01:27

Great experience overall, and seeing the other planets flyby was my favorite part. Would have liked to see a Pluto finish though ;)

jk5000 2017-05-09 17:10

The story and music you have used is great, and it fits the game jam theme perfectly. I would have liked a bit more game mechanics.

Really lovely story. I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf9jH1KZdXw
