Mage Run: The Short Quest For The Legendary Yellow Cheese by Jens Nolte 2013-08-27T02:34:00
I'm afraid that no keyboard control makes this unplayable. Probably my bad for not reading the directions before playing...

Difficult to figure out whats supposed to be happening, no quest log so if I miss something, its gone forever...
Audio and Video are both really good!
I got "Webpage not available" ... Sorry
I couldn't get sound to work quickly so I scrapped it, and I wanted to give it a timer/moves limit (like every 10 seconds you lost a move) but I just ran out of time... I do intend on improving it outside of LD here:
https://sites.google.com/site/sacrificespacegame/
I'm still working on Network Intrusion, and I threw together a googlesite for it here:
https://sites.google.com/site/anondeasoftwaredesign/networkintrusion
I'm not using that shady site to host anymore either...
Its working now! Played, Liked, Shared, and Voted!
Awesome sprites! This game is quite fun and even kinda hard!
A nice simple mechanic, well done! Surprisingly more challenging than I expected.
Thank you for the vote! I wish you had more time to get more features in, this game was really enjoyable.
Not bad, but I'd really like to see the continuation to this...it has a lot of potential! Good job!
Not bad, a little confusing, though. I wasn't entirely sure what to do besides just mash the mousebutton.
This was really great, awesome puzzle game! Kind of wish there were more levels, though. Good job!
Loved the graphics and the gameplay is fairly entertaining. Good job!
Definitely a challenge keeping track of where you are and where you need to be. Great game!
Pretty interesting idea, maybe make the required sequence a little more obvious. But other than that, it wasn't a bad game.
Nice graphics, interesting descriptions, landing was a little difficult. Not bad.
I think the music is what really did it for me too. I love how it shifted depending on the world you were in. Really entertaining!
Beautifully crafted. Given more content, I would also pay for this (I technically have with Space Rangers). I tried making my game more about exploration, but I can see the benefit to a well crafted universe.
Pretty interesting simulation, though, despite the lack of gameplay.
Well done and clever concept. I did a very similar thing, but I think yours was really well done.
I was easily captured by this game and excited to win. Sadly, the information on HOW to win was a little overwhelming. Maybe it just make up for all the feedback I have received that says I didn't give enough info..
Very nice work, I loved the art and the music, and the gameplay was highly entertaining for me. Kind of wish there was a pause button, but overall, very good!
I really liked the concept, although the lava level was extremely difficult for me. Thanks for the vote too!
Really hard to understand what I was doing at first. A lot of information, and a lot to keep track of, but overall really good.
Pretty fun, but started to lag about three levels in...not entirely sure why. Good concept, and definitely entertaining.
Really like the art, and the storyline was pretty interesting. Interesting take on the theme.
I have updated the description! Please read and re-play, as there have been vast improvement since launch!
Pretty neat concept, and pretty polished as well. But I'm unsure about how it relates to the theme...
Beautiful game, totally reminiscent of Descent, but with some really cool features.
Really entertaining, the perfect balance between challenging and fun. Good job!
Amazing soundtrack, but pretty difficult. Awesome job, though!
A little tricky to maneuver at first, but I really enjoyed it!
This is my favorite so far, I really wish I had put something like this together. Thank you for the vote, with your feedback I put more explainy-text in :)
I'm really partial to space and gravity games. Thank you for the vote, Utopia happens way more than statistically possible.. Maybe that's a sign?
I liked the graphics and the overall feel of the game, and I found it a little challenging. I wish I'd have thought of adding music to mine!
The controls took some getting used to, but it was really fun. I loved the art and the dialogue...even though I got robbed by space pirates...
Really liked this, awesome idea, great execution! Excellent work!
Enjoyable, wish there were move option other than infinite pewpewpewpew.
I really liked the music and the mood you set. I wish I had been able to accomplish something like that. Thank you for the vote, and there are new additions since then :)
Unique Concept was SUPER EFFECTIVE. First instance I've seen of anyone connected planets FOR BATTLE! I tried to emply some RNG negatives in my game, but nothing as clever as yours :)
Really fun, but kind of difficult, too. Loved how you drew your planets. Very awesome!
What a clever spin on an old favorite! Once I figured out what was going on, I quickly got my planet full size!
This was really awesome! I liked the concept and the lava was properly terrifying lol. Excellent work!
I really enjoyed this, although I'm not sure how to get past the second level. I assumed I needed to connect with Mercury as well, but the button didn't exist for me? Fun game, though.
I enjoyed this game a lot; Spent way too much of my youth playing SHMUPs. I really liked the variable movement of ships and asteroids.
I really liked the 3D sprites, they are way cleaner than the ones I made. Thank you for the vote, and there have been a lot of changes thanks to your feedback :)
This was a really fun and straightforward game. I really liked having the ability to double jump. Thanks for the vote, your feedback was appreciated!
This game was super fun! I wish there were more levels, and maybe a bit faster pigeon options. Beautiful art and sound too!
I really liked the concept, although it was a little difficult and somewhat tedious to maneuver. Check out how I did WASD for navigation!
Interesting and fun, but without any win/lose conditions it's hard to keep playing after awhile.
Really funny! I loved the voices and the sound effects! I'd love to see more tiles/interactions! But yeah, this is a really polished and complete game!
Dropbox would not let me download. Thank you for the vote though!
Really awesome! Loved the animations and the sounds. I also liked that there was more than one mode to play on, it gives it more depth, imo. Great game!
I had fun conquering all those worlds lol! I liked the mechanics, really made you think before you shoot.
Controls weren't my favorite, and if I somehow lost window focus, I couldnt get it back... I love SHMUPs though, and the mix-and-match was very sweet.
I liked the graphics, although gameplay was a little difficult. The concept was definitely original.
As a Doctor Who fan, I really appreciated this. It's quite a bit of fun, and I loved how you drew the doctor. Excellent game!
Got error "The program cannot start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer."
Chess, The RPG was actually pretty fun. I liked a lot of the humorous aspects as well.
This was a really nice entry, and an awesome departure from the shmup genre.
This is intense. Total immersion, healthy dose of suspense. I'm really impressed!
The ascii art is impressive. I found it difficult to follow at first, and I couldn't take a pic of my pet...
Somehow I broke the game to where I could not make it to the fight screen, I just kept standing there. During my fight, I simply threw the objects on the ground and was then beat up.
Not a bad submission, although it feels like it was lacking. Maybe a better explanation of what I was supposed to be doing would be enough?
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this game and how engrossed I got trying to beat it (but couldn't lol)
I am so damn impressed with this game, especially having multiplayer working in a jam game. This was really fun blowing up people and getting blown up in return.
I enjoyed the puzzle but the theme seemed to detract from it. Definitely a nice little challenge.
I haven't had a text based adventure in a while and it was really nice to die a few times lol. Good work!
Very engaging, I really had fun even though I died.
I too was overwhelmed by the tutorial text, but otherwise this was a game I could really *dig*.
I enjoyed the gameplay, although I tried SPACE but couldn't figure out how to not-die.
The jumps made the game sufficiently hard and while keeping the gameplay really simple to grasp. I prefer that over some of the more complex games out there.
We are doing post-LD updates here:
http://jonathangiacomelli.spacetechnology.net/aphelion
I really enjoyed the donkey kong senior game, and I'm impressed you got 3 games in for the price of one!
I loved the crap out of this game and would have played this on steam
I haven't played this style game in a long time! Loved the retro feel and felt it was very innovative.
This was an awesome game, and I really loved the "do not kill" aspect that made it so much more challenging.
This was a neat take on some of the similar lightsout style puzzle game that really got me engaged.
I agree, I wish I could have replenished my power, but otherwise I could really dig this game!
Definitely a good challenge trying to keep the network up.
Missing a few enemy kills is an easy way to die. I enjoyed the art style a lot!
I really liked the retro feel and it reminded me a lot of one of my old favorites, Joust.
A fun lil beat'em up, I managed to hold my own a while before getting knocked out of the level.
This was a great little game and I loved the art style!
I got to about ~1300, but it was fun trying to get the hang of the controls.
Fun and engaging. I enjoyed gathering large herds of zombies and tricking them into dying.
I definitely had the fear in me of running out of power. Game was a bit hard, and I wasn't sure how to take the best selfies; However, I was immersed and had fun :)
Once I read two house one factory, I was able to get a nice lil island going... until the waters came. I think y'all nailed the theme in a unique and interesting way.
I really like a lot the the colony management games. I did have trouble starting (whats a factory do lol?) it I love the idea!
Hey guys! Thanks for playing and rating our game!
The number was a feature that was designed to [REDACTED], and I'm glad everyone [REDACTED].
We did want to include a timer, but it wasn't in our SRD, and we didn't have time to get to it. We tried to be pretty strict with that so we could be more-done by the deadline.
We originally had a ton of cubes, but reduced their numbers by increasing their size for aesthetic purposes. A feature to increase their numbers could have been cool, but it wasn't in the SRD.
I think I covered the feedback and I'm glad everyone sounded like they enjoyed themselves. Good luck out there to all my fellow jammers!
I think this was a pretty good game, enough to get me into it and trying to land that next checkpoint. The physics of it seemed... heavy. That might have been on purpose though.
I like the premise but I think the clicker stuff just didn't fit the aesthetic. Moar bunny plz.
Very cutthroat, but awesome idea! Took me awhile to get the pun/theme lol
I really enjoy the gameplay, and held my own for a few... But I held down UP and LEFT-CLICK, and got stuck going UP perpetually.
Clean and straightforward, and totally rocked the theme!
I'm totally not good enough at these kind of puzzle games lol. I liked the gameplay, totally got the theme, and managed to walk off the level under an "N" block to be trapped in limbo till I restarted loo.
Shrek is always GUILTY lol. The graphics are awesome, I could have never drawn anything that good, that fast, with the time we have.
I forgot I was playing LD games for a minute, definitely a fun puzzle game.
SPOILERS but it was sooooo sad 3
I was pleasantly surprised by how terrible I was at this game lol. The concept/theme was awesome!
Unloaded into the first guy, not a ghost lol. But I got the hang of it, and it got hard as those levels went. Couldn't spam shooting fast enough! Good job!
I took a few chances a few too many times, died a bunch lol. Had a good time, the funnels were a welcomed departure from the genre. Great game!!
Hardest game this LD. I was terrible at this game in the 90s and I'm terrible now lol Awesome execution, graphics and sound were on point! Good job!
@rainetheglutton The other Reapers do hunt you down, just moveToObject() with some jitter instead of any real pathing. We did experiment with lower peep volume, but maybe came to the wrong conclusion lol... It's a one line fix
@jedineeson You can thank @blondhie for the wonderful audio. She is truly the light (and sound) of my life <3
Thank you guys! I did focus on **good** over **long**, so we have tiny simply-generated levels. I agree with everyone, tackling that could help expand way past jam into a really cool game!!
I'm so grateful for all the good feedback and I'm excited to see and play more of your games too !! <3
Some awesome nostalgia right here!! My biggest gripe was the scrolling. Old days, we scrolled. HTML5 and 2019, we do REST. Or those dialogue boxes that have arrows/tabs. Otherwise I had fun :)
Nice! I'm lame and had double-jump problems, maybe I'm picky about arrow vs WASD, and I found a way sort double jump (accidentally) thru the top of the level and into and inescapable chunk of wall. It's an awesome entry regardless, great job!
Yes, as discussed, an interface would have been great. But there's this subtle difficulty to it that got me twisted! Don't get discouraged, and see you #LD45 !!
2 players? Gotta fill out the submission so we know to bring friends :)
In another life you could have sold me this cartridge! Other than getting stuck on things sometimes, I had a blast!
This was a really cool take, doing the puzzle and paying life to get the keys to finish. I pondered having the sellback be less, but I think you guys made the right call for what you were going for :)
Share your babies! 5 stars! lol I feel your pain, but please hit us back once it's up!
HTML5 error not found too. Will gladly re-review.
I totally didn't get it, but I had fun working it out, and having a game fun enough to people to play until they get isn't bad ;) I do think that a more detailed explanation of what each spell did, how to collect souls/life and the point of rezing is would help us really enjoy what you've got here :)
@velvetlobster I'm a shit artist and a wizard programmer, maybe we can team up LD45. This game might have been the best LD44 game I've played so far. A few technical issues (text disappearing to fast, missing background) but it was hella creepy+atmosphere, and I haven't said *wtf* at a video game that often in a long time... But in a good way lol
Getting the paper was cool, but the parent and the dog were relentless.
I love it. Port to Android plx. I'm a sucker for clicker/idle games lol My feedback is non-LD; More upgrades, more enemies, exponential curves and infinite everything! <3
You did a great job and this game was hard! Coasting into a charge at 4% like `phew` lol
Lost faculties creep up on you fast. Impressed by how much level was available.
I was doing well, got shotgunned a few too many times. Definitely dont have the skill for the high score lol
This was pretty good, especially the kind of depth the level had (targets, free coin thing, moving platform). I had some troubles, not-having 11/10 and leaving hella coins, and then later wishing I them them back. Simple ass pigs get sinister quick. Worst nit pick was when I shot a target too close and it went thru and into a wall. Nbd. Had a blast, not much to nit pick, win-win-win!
This might be the most innovative game I've seen this LD as far at the theme is concerned. This is a really neat and fun entry!
This game was badass. I'm over here wondering how to buy this on my phone. Lemme get 10 jump coins for $0.99. Sadly, I have no constructive feedback, this game was simply awesome.
As something of a SHMUP / bullet hell aficionado, I'm always glad to see my favorite subgenre represented. There were a couple of issues I noticed, like hit boxes/collisions not working (I could shoot missile, and my bullets went through missiles). I liked the different attack patterns, a lot of people don't go through the trouble. Art is always a backseat item, but I think this game could have benefited from a more consistent sprite/style/source. That gray bullet sliding through that missile belied a disconnect between the two. It was good, and the upgrades were huge!
I had a damn blast, couldn't understand a word of it! I was able to trail and error my way thru every fight but the dragon. Dude was stacked. RIP
It's been too long since my Tyrian days! This is an awesome entry, and other than and vague roughness to the controls, I can't find anything to say. My escortee could have done a little more in their own defense lol, but it was definitely a great time!
I totally overdid the powers and got my ass beat. Had a blast though!!
Had a great time, awesome little game. Lemme get level 3 lol
Beautiful JRPG in all the right ways. Pathing and the level changing was a little frustrating though lol
Was tougher than I expected, definitely a neat mechanic. That blender lol
I love stinkin logic puzzles lol .. I sort of over-overrided things just to play the puzzles lol
I'm a Sunflower farmer on Stardew and absolutely loved this game. I think I got a pattern and got a really high score despite only collecting 51 flowers.
Super nostalgic! I loved it!
Sorry y'all - I beat those kids so many times in the last 48h that the difficulty might have *scaled* a bit lol ... **Pro-tip:** *Focus on dodging and let your weapon jitter take care of the Loser.*
@dedicave, Yeah, I've got a few nested-nested-nested loops lol ... I want to expand testing more, since I dont expect everyone to pack Ryzens and i9s lol
@Phlip45, You might have been fighting Bill, whose s-s-s-studder effect spawns more than one of him.
@ggrusha, Spider is one of the possible starting powerups, and just follows you :)
@khud0 My wife said the same thing - the skip buttons are W and UP, the same ones the player had been mashing when they died. That's my bad for not listening lol
@no-grapes-games I had been playing Isaac beforehand, and playtesting a lot ... As I mentioned, its a touch harder than someone walking into it fresh lol
@super-hadoken The spider grants a speed boost if you can get him ;)
This game is really well done, and I was sad when it ended. It was hard at first, but once I got the into it I was grabbing up fish like crazy!
Blaz-B lol - thats my new nickname
I'm partial to tower defense, and I loved your take on it and the theme! I kept the baby alive fine, but ran out of life when it got hairy lol
Great game, way more intense than the graphics lead on <3 I screamin at about MAH DUCKLINS lol
@blondhie told me I had to play this, and it was totally worth it! Loved the Animal Crossing / IT crossover.
Slo-mo was a hit! Very straightforward game, but it can get hard quick. Loved it!
I got risky, packin about 20 sticks ... froze to death lol/
Oh my word, that was surprisingly difficult. I might not be so great at rhythm games tho lol :D Great job!
Neat take on the theme, def enjoyed finding the scarce trees lol
Great game, beautiful assets! It can get hectic quick, and I', not a fan of "J" lol
I loved your take on the theme, and sort of wish I was clever enough to have come up with *it* lol
