This was pretty cool! It was definitely super creepy and atmospheric. I think you're selling yourself short! There's definitely a really good set up here

Ohh such a nice graphics and music, wish I could draw like that. Sometimes I almost have goosebumps. Good work
Damn that was awesome! I wish i had more of a direction of what to do though, but It was awesome anyway!
thanks everyone! I was pretty damn lost so many times during this project ... I am a terrible programmer nowadays so in the end I just tried loads of things ... lots of things can happen randomly and some events are pretty rare too ... hope not too many people will get stuck in bugs
This is fantastic! Truely unsettling and the audio + graphics are A+
Love it.
Everything was so lovely to hear and look at. Light criticism; the repeated messages from sweaping the floor got a little obnoxious, but the rest of the dialogue was tops. I can't tell if the self-deprication is part of the game or not, but you definitely should feel proud of what you made!
Awesome art, wow
Whoa! This was very meta, and it was weirdly humorous while being somewhat scary. At first, I was getting annoyed with all the messages, but then the messages were directed to me which shifted my thinking. All in all, fun and creepy and well executed. Great art!
Love the art and audio!
Art was amazing and a good amount of content. Keep it up!
So creepy and pleasure to play :D I love it
pretty creepy! Totally love IT! Nice visuals and music!!!
Loved the mood! And the handmade style is really good (>u<)/
Seems the interaction has some issues..The art and the atomosphere are awesome, though I didn't get what it is
What the... is there any game here? Or is this just supposed to make sure I stay awake to rate enough games?
@velvetlobster I'm a shit artist and a wizard programmer, maybe we can team up LD45. This game might have been the best LD44 game I've played so far. A few technical issues (text disappearing to fast, missing background) but it was hella creepy+atmosphere, and I haven't said *wtf* at a video game that often in a long time... But in a good way lol
The narrator idea was really cool, you should take it further. Cool feel to it, good work.
This is an amazing sound quality and your design is really good!
Super creepy and atmospheric, love the hand drawn art style and story elements.
This was a strange experience but was also very interesting ! Il laughed a lot when the narrator said things about the ludum dare. The graphics and the audio were also very good and fitted the atmosphere of the theme very well. Congrats !
Despite the fact that i don't like this genre, i really found your game to be refreshingly well made :D Best mood i've seen so far!
I really like that the game has cuts like a movie would! particularly my impression at the beginning was that the aesthetic and pacing was really intense in a good way but as the game went on being reset over and over and not knowing exactly why gets a little frustrating.
This was fun. Very impressive athmosphere, sound, graphics and those little cuts made it very good. Those text-snippets where a bit fast to read but hey, I still got it anyway. Nice project!
Wow, really nice mood! This was a creepy game in a very real sense, specially with all those cuts! I also loved the music and the sounds.
There were quite a few bugs in the game, although some of them it was not clear whether they were intentional or not, which was quite a clever idea :-P
Thank you for your game, and for your nice messages!
Great mood and art! I almost panicked when the spider appeared. Also the sounds and music were great. I did not know how to advance in the game but that only fueled the tension.
You got the mood spot on, I'm glad I did not play this in the middle of the night It would have scared me to death. I love your art-style btw.
Cool Art style, movement was kind of frustrating, kept hitting colliders :D
Games like this one are the reason why I even bothered to become a game developer. 5/5 on all, for me personally games like that are the sort of art/self-expression that people lack in other domains of life. Good entry dude, hope to see much more authentic games like that in the future, good luck!
Well done! I love the Art Style. Fits together perfectly. But the characters itself could be a little bit more "dirty". They look kind of clean in comparison to the other styles.
Atmosphere and sound are also really enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
@manuel-rauber thanks man! As for the art, the characters have indeed a different art style and that was purposely made, I personally like unexplained contrast, so we have a well detailed dirty sorta background and some really simple child like characters and items on top of that ... that was the idea at least ^^ @dumivid oh thanks a lot for those words man! @eliphas yeah there are some bugs for sure ... and colliders are delicate spot @digigee yeah I got that same impression too you are right ... was a bit too late to fix though ... @vulpineblazeyt I would love to have someone to work with in ludum dare ... particularly in the coding department ... I usually code frequently, but coding for games is another thing completely sometimes, all those colliding events and race conditions get me crazy lol .. in this ludum dare I had to rush desperately against the clock in the end to see if I could fix the maximum amount of bugs, most of them I had to fix in ... so to say ... non elegant ways lol @rumsquawks yeah that is also true ... I did not have the time to fix that bug (its a bug actually) ...
thanks everyone who played it, I will make sure I play your games as well as soon as I get home from work
This was very creepy and atmospheric. The art work is really good and the music was perfect. I think I had a glitch where the text would disappear before I had chance to read it as though I'd pressed a button when I hadn't, but I loved the look and feel. Great work.
This is so good.
Very oppressing and creepy. Well done !
Well done. You managed to make it creepy and very strange. Sorry, for the mood stars. But everything else is perfect.
Not the game I should have played just before bed! I liked the dark humour, and how you managed to create tension as the game ramped up, with a lot of surprises in a short space of time.
Since the game was so artsy it's hard to draw meaningful critique, I think the only changes I would have made is to the popups, some were far too short before they vanished again - it's frustrating missing some of the dialogue because of it. Also, especially during the beginning as you are interacting with objects and getting pop-ups, and the "narrator" (you I guess) is also making pop-ups they can mix and get disorientating, however some could argue that is part of the atmosphere.
I'm gonna go calm my nerves now xD
Well, you're really breaking the 4th wall there. Got very much spooked playing this. I stopped moving at some point since it was triggering too much cuts.
Well, that was one hell of a ride. Nice Work!
I couldn't really progress in the game. It was really buggy and confusing. The art and atmosphere were great, but the nonsensical gameplay, and constant pop up messages made it really hard to play.
Both spooky and very humourous, well done !
It was an amazing experience! I absolutely loved it and would have loved to see this game done properly with fully fleshed out content and story! Sure theres bugs here and there but you abosolutely nailed the atmosphere and art!
Very atmospheric and great sounds, but the popups kinda distracted the gameplay
:O That was a mindf**k haha! Excellent game, one of my top 5 so far.. I loved the mood you created with the music and visuals, in addition to the schizophrenic popups. With some additional content and clear direction this game will kick ass! Well done.
Very special atmosphere
Great art style, and great sound design. But I found it a bit annyoing that there was constantly text appearing..... :-)
That was so moody and a bit trippy.
For me it felt a bit like [Mononoke](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mononoke_(TV_series))
I loved the mood and exploring this. I don't understand what "Are you trying to clean.." but loved it. Explored some screens, I don't know if I got them all, probably someting left.
Amazing how you fit an interesting and moody gameplay in such tiny space. Great job!
I haven't made any LD games this time, so I cannot rate, but I can leave some feedback:
1. I think the art is quite coherent. Obviously some assets, like the spider and the protagonist don't look as polished as the environment, but this could work in the game's favour, as I was struggling to find interactive items. 2. I first realised I could press the Spacebar key to sweep the floor. This led me to playing the game sweeping things for a while. At some point the game got interrupted by a message that reprimanded me for doing that, and holding space through it would play a loud and obnoxious sound in a loop. Not in the sense that the sound would loop once it was finished, but rather in the sense that the sound trigger would play every frame. Quite a bothersome bug, really. 3. I was told by the game to click around, and I eventually did that. 4. I thought the messages constantly interrupting what I was doing were a nuisance. Especially when I was in the middle of making some kind of choice, which would subsequently get interrupted by these messages. I would not allow these messages to be as frequent as they are, and I wouldn't allow them to interrupt other messages. 5. I quit the game when clicking on the bed reset the level. I perceived that as a status reset, sort of like pressing "New Game", so I stopped. 6. Many of the messages are attempting to break the fourth wall too hard, in my opinion. It ceases being interesting or amusing fairly quickly. Due to their frequency and content they become a nuisance fairly quickly.
Conclusion: Fairly atmospheric, fair enough, but I found it to be rather shallow.
sorry for the space bar bug ... yeah the constant message is really annoying we noticed that ... it was quite hard to fix because we were trying to sorta develop a mini framework for the game, which in the end got several flaws and we needed to improvise ... quite a lot I must say lol ...
the bed reset is not actually a reset, it inserts new variables to the game, that will make some new events happen (not a lot though)
there was a script and cutscenes and even a sorta linear timeline in the plans ... there are also currently several events and custscenes that are impossible to trigger due to some serious bugs, for instance, if you manage to die when the spiders attack, you trigger a whole different ending, the game kinda splits in that part, but we noticed is fairly impossible to die, maybe if you trigger the bed before the next message comes and keep doing that in a loop for like 5 times ...
yeah I know it lacks a lot and we will perhaps try to find someone to team up for the programming part next time some bugs could be fixed in like one hour, but I believe we are not allowed to submit new patches after the ludum dare is over, so we didn't and kept the bugs, already expecting it not to be the best entry ever, but we did it nevertheless =) Thanks a lot for the detailed review @mike-inprinciple
This hooked me really good visual and game feel. Very meta i dig that! Bugs will be bus :D its not like there is anything in the distance :D
Super quirky, eerie, weird game! Love the art style and music as well. Also love how you kept breaking the fourth wall with the text. Great work!
i love this game - the mood is very great
Wow! Great storytelling and dark athmosphere! This could have been a great entry for "Break the fourth wall" or "the enemy is the game" as well. The music IS ABSOLUTELY "kinda nice" :D I loved the animations and the pencil look of graphics. The only thing it wasn't very clear was how to interact with the text pages. I missed the possibility of answering a couple of times because I wasn't sure if I had to wait for the text or could skip it after having read it. So at some point the story kept coming up a bit too quickly (don't know if this was intentional)
Quite quickly I figured out that you can swipe the floor with space, but I didn't know what it was for. I think most people will click on the bed, when you tell them not to. I clicked all over the place to find ammo, thinking that you need to kill the giant insect on the wall. However I couldn't find any. I clicked on the bed multiple times, because I didn't realise that the game got reset to a certain point each time. Once I realised and got back to the part were the BUGS are introduced, I swiped the floor and that seemed to be how to finish the game. There were a lot of messages trying to be edgy and break the fourth wall, this can be humourous but it disrupts the gameplay flow. So it's best not to spam the player with messages the entire time. Though the mood was good and I liked the combination of the two artstyles to create contrast.
Is this a video game?? Choose an answer below
[Maybe...yeah] [Fuck off!] [This poll system is kind of buggy] [Actually though the music and art are super dope, and the extreme levels of randomness keep you on edge the entire time. Maybe it's not a game in a traditional sense, but it is a wildly unsettling experience.] [Fuck off!!]
Loved the art and audio. Enjoyed the fourth wall breaks, up to a point. I was looking for a big payoff, but never got one.
