I can see this being really really engaging with some tweaks. Often I felt like I never would have had enough fuel to make it to the green planet despite my choices, and on one occasion, there was a massive gap between the left side of the map and the right that I'm pretty sure was impassible under all circumstances. Still, really interesting and very nice to look at. I hope you continue to work on it post-jam. Do it for the doggos!
I got caught in a dialog loop almost immediately; not sure if that's a bug. That frog is adorable though! I love your style!
I have a friend who's explained the spoon analogy to me; I think I will send this to them. I enjoyed it and I think they would too. :^)
Awesome shaders! When you get a buff, it might be nice for that not to stop the gameplay entirely. Otherwise, fun idea!
Really cool story and such a nice take on the theme! I'm definitely following along to see future updates.
Everything was so lovely to hear and look at. Light criticism; the repeated messages from sweaping the floor got a little obnoxious, but the rest of the dialogue was tops. I can't tell if the self-deprication is part of the game or not, but you definitely should feel proud of what you made!
WOW totally loved it; this is the cutest mess and my heart hurts. I hate that you made me do change on the spot though; flashbacks to my Walmart years!
Hey all! Thank you for your constructive criticism and feedback. This is the first time we've ever done anything like this, so hearing from so many people is great and it really does help us out! It seems unanimous that the intro text is too long/not skipable; we totally agree, and since we're going to keep working on this after the jam, we'll definitely add in skippableness once scoring as over (though it's minor, I feel like adding the feature before play+rate is done with might influence scoring and go beyond LD rules). We have, however, made the following changes that should still be in complience with the jam: @lagrume-masque , we've gone in and made it so you cannot get stuck in the store text (thanks for catching this bug! :^) ; @calzep , the executable should run in linux as well as mac and windows since its a Unity build, though, we see that we didn't initially mark it as such on itch.io. This is changed now and we encourage you to give the game a shot if you're still interested!
Again, thank you all for your feedback! It's all very encouraging and helpful! :^)
Hey all! Thanks again for the additional feedback. To those who believed my unintentional L I E S and went to our itch.io looking for a Linux build only to find Windows executables, so sorry! I completely misunderstood how Unity's packaging system for Mac/Windows/Linux builds works. For those individuals, there should now be a Linux build up on our itch.io if I did everything correctly. If not, so sorry yet again! None of our team has a Linux nor do we actively use Linux, but we'll work on getting a build our to you all if we muff things up again! It also should be noted that this Linux build up on itch.io is alongside a new Windows build, which includes skippable text and some sounds, features which were not present in the original LD build. We've left our original submission up on itch.io, so if you intend to play and rate, please refer to that windows build, or play the Linux build and neglect the changes we've made. Sorry that this approach is a little sloppy, but I felt like giving a new Linux build with changes and additions was better than giving no build at all. Again, thank you all for the feedback! Best wishes for this final week of play and rate!
I love the premise, but the camera is very difficult to work with. I also think the hand is a little unnecessary since the levels were alreaydy pretty challenging to maneuver already. Really cool take on the theme though; wish I could turn on my side and roll!
To be honest, I came into this thinking that it would play a lot like Darkest Dungeon, but you really took the concept and went your own way with it! The button-press mechanic is really simple and fun (and it makes me realize how bad I am with navigating my own keyboard). Also, THOSE VISUALS. You're artwork reminds me a lot of Mike Mignola's and that's awesome. Only criticism I have is that the death screen takes a while to fade out and isn't skippable. Other than that, fantastic!
Also, wow, how did you get those sprites so crisp with Unity! I feel like the engine typically crushes the heck outta everything, haha.
Very interesting! I hope you keep on with it and make some interesting sprites for the different arcana cards. I wish there was a little more direction between the scenarios, but I never was much of a DND guy. The flavour text is fun to read though!
@gear-steak Yeah! I wish the scenarios were a little more than one choice and a skill roll. If every draw were for a longer story with multiple skill rolls, that might be interesting.
Also, it might be interesting to draw multiple arcana for one story/scenario, kind of like how actual tellers do with the various tarot reading shapes. I don't know, it might be something fun to experiment with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Those controls were a little bit clunky, but I absolutely loved the prerendered graphics. Your camera-turn effect is really cool, and I think this visual style has a lot of potential. :)
Man, wave three.. that difficulty, am I right? Super fun! I personally love the difficulty curve; makes it feel super arcade-y.
Controls are nice and the visuals and sound are super well executed! Those jellies take a while to die, but the challenge isn't too frustrating, so nice job! :^)
