Looks amazing. The context sensitiv controlls are great.
Wow, a really nice story with an awesome presantation.
Its hard but brilliant. Love the art style and the polish. Also the core mechanics are excellent.
I really like your game. The art is beautiful. Only the interaction/inventory is a little buggy. Nice work.
Great game, the art style is awesome. the controlls feel a little bit to indirectly. Also the the huge enemy is a big spike in difficulty. Befor that everything is very easy. Therefore its a bit frustrating. But alltogether a very good game :-)
Great entry. The grapics are cut but i really don't want to eat those cute sheeps :-(
The combination of controls and slow physics is pretty fun and challenging. I like the music.
I really like your take on the theme. I just wish for the tab key to work while inserting the information ;-)
I like the mysterious feeling you created by not saying anything about the game. Im still not sure if i got to the end or if something else would have been happend. The interaction controlls are a bit wonky but i got used to it.
Nice game.
You create great atmosphere with very little. I especially like what you did with the theme.
Sadly i can't run the game: "A Java Exception has occured."
It does not run: There should be 'OverTheCourseOfADay_Data'
folder next to the executable. Sorry.
Thank you all for the nice words. It means a lot to me. I learned a lot during development and know about all the weaknesses. The game is clearly missing content because i was struggeling with some other parts of development. But every single positive word here in the comments gave me motivation for continuing game development. Thank you!
I like it when so many people attack you. But the jumping feels a little bit off. maybe it would have been good to have a high and a not so high jump. But overall a lot of fun!
The attacks feel pretty good, to movement seems to slow.
I killed 6 people. Its hilarious, i like the conversations a lot.
Fantastic art style. But i had some problems with the slow turning. That does not feel too good. But these visuals and the sound. Perfect.
Eh, when i try download the game it downloads antoher game "war against darkness"?!?
Now i played the real game and it is really good. the later puzzles become hard but manageable. Good job!
Wow, a really good game. The graphics are great. The sounds that are there are also very good and atmospheric but i was really missing some kind of engine sound. Also it has some very good gameplay ideas using the boxes in the world. :-)
Wow thats great chaos! Also the art style and animations are in its own way pretty good and funny. Having x and z as keys is not so good because on many european keyboard layouts x and z are far apart. Nice game :-)
I really like this game. The graphics are cute. But i couldn't figure the level out where you learn about the blocks blocking wolves. Well done!
Looks interesting and nice to read that it was a great learning experience. Especially the feedback what you are doing is missing here (for example why cant i place a building?). Keep going :)
Thanks for all the feedback :-) @dr-v That's a good point about the healing, thanks!
@bradur the AI is really basic and hacked together. It checks all the tiles reachable via movement + skillRange (and that is not reliable when there are blocking objects, therefore sometimes the AI just says bug and the next turn starts...). For each reachable friend and enemy i save a score (best score is that an enemy would be dead after attacking) and select the one with the best score. Thanks for the feedback :-)
@sadcolor Sorry for the bug, i think i fixed the issue. @thx1342 Sorry, but I have no idea about that bug, can't reproduce it. Might be a Driver+OS+Monogame bug that i can't really fix right now. It doesn't really help but you're not really missing anything... The buttons on the top left are: none-functional menu button, mute music, end turn (also enter on keyboard). Annoying nonetheless. Thank you both for the feedback :)
@dom Thanks for your interest. It should work on both Linux/Mac because its a .Net game and I used the multi platform Monogame project. You have to download the [Mono-Runtime](http://www.mono-project.com/) and start the game with mono HappyBotMess.exe from your command line. But I only tested it on Ubuntu.
@antti-tiihonen That's a really good idea. I'm kind of mad that I didn't think of it .
Really good game. i like the graphics. without sound and wit the text UI the feedback of the game is lacking a bit but the simulation seems good. And its fun to watch the elfs do their jobs.
Really good idea. I think the world is a little to big, the game starts really slow. Some items were spawning in walls and the controls for the bodyguard are a little difficult to get into. But the idea is really good and i had some fun holding back the fans :) Good job!
A game about me and a goblin taking turns throwing the same rock at each other. but the next one started throwing three rocks at a time... i really like the mechanic that you have to balance the inventory with the actual fights happening. I think some improvements could be done to the speed of the game. Good job!
nice game, i really like the graphics. Though it wasn't really clear what you are supposed to do.
Really impressive looking game. For me the movement speed and the level design didn't fit very well together. Too little space for the fast movement. Nevertheless this is crazy good!
Very good game, i really like it. The graphics are nice and some of the routes are difficult to figure out. The controls are a little clunky, just not really smooth. Besides that i loved it!
It's difficult to get into, the game is just not very clear. But once understood what was going on I saw a lot of potential. Good job!
Really good game, feels very good to play, looks good. I think it would be a little better without having lifes. I just don't like replaying the early levels when i struggle in a specific section. Good job!
Cool game, but very stressful. I chose to close the game when I couldn't keep up anymore. so no cat died and they lived happily ever after!
Its a really good game, feels unique :-)
i like the concept and the graphics but i can barely last a minute in this game. i have yet to find a strategy to keep both species alive. Keyboard controls to pan the camera would have been a nice addition.
Pretty fun and cute game. I think the walking distances between spawning enemies is way too big. And some more animations or shooting/hit feedback would have been nice. But all in all a pretty good entry :-)
Wow, what a great game. You do a really good job teaching the new mechanics through the level design.
Wow this is really impressive. I felt a little lost in the beginning but well done :-)
a really good game. once i understood the dash mechanic I had some nice battles with enemies. but most of the time the easiest thing was to walk back and use range spell. with a little more polish of the melee controls and enemy design it could be even better. i like the graphic style, especially tiles and backgrounds. good job :-)
Cute graphics, i like the cats and dogs. But i don't like the premise of cats and dogs fighting ;-) I think that dying to water is a little harsh because the platforming doesn't work too well. In the end: good job and it seems that you learned a lot. By the way I think a Ludum Dare game shouldn't be longer than 5 to 10 minutes because of the voting. The shorter the better to get other people playing it.
Interesting game, i like it. I'm not sure that failing if you collide with land adds anything to the game. Simply not being able to move there wouldn't be as frustrating. But besides that i like it!
i like the idea. but for me it was a little to much stress. sound would have made the game better i think. regardless good job.
Was looking forward to playing this, but when i press P to unpause the game in the very beginning it crashes or something? It stays open but mouse clicks and key presses don't to anything, also the red rectangle stays in the same place. Before that when it's paused i can change building selection and so on.
@jan Sure, here is the exception:
Exception in thread "Game" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javazoom/jl/decoder/JavaLayerException at game.Game.addSound(Game.java:736) at game.Game.tick(Game.java:464) at game.Game.run(Game.java:140) at java.base/java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
@jan i got it working with the new jar. Though i'm on Windows 10, not Linux ;-)
The game is really impressive. The controls should be the big week point but it works really well even without "real" UI. I also like the art style. Good job!
Fun and cute game. Wish there was some audio but cats are even better :-)
Sounds and art are amazing. the gameplay is interesting but i had difficulties with the attack and the hit feedback. I wasn't really sure when I hit an enemy. good job!
your game is really fun. i'm just happy that i don't have to clean up the mess i just made ;-)
Funny game, but its really really hard to control the physics. But that causes the funny situations. The controls for creating the burger are not really intuitive though. Nevertheless a good game!
Having sounds would have been important. But the game looks good. I would have liked a bigger view of the world, sometimes the enemies popup really late. I really enjoy the kick back when you shoot and the movement in general.
nice and fun game. i had some problems with the controls. and i really like the music.
@slizzben units eat one food every day. When you don't have enough food at the end of a day, units will die.
Thank you all for playing and commenting :-)
@dunin Wow, playing 39 days :-) Thanks for the bug report, and sorry that you had to encounter the stuck head spinners.
@zugai89 Sorry for that, the task/ai system seems very buggy after some time :anguished:
It really looks stunning. And I know the feeling not being able to create intersting puzzles in a ludum dare ;-) I still enjoyed it a lot.
I liked it. The fighting could maybe feel better if the player was a bit faster than the enemies, so you good better dodge them. Good job.
Really enjoyed playing it, had a score of 14 :-)
I really like the graphics and audio. The game is interesting, because it isn't something you have seen again and again. The controls could be a bit smoother (not pressing multiple times z to collect an item). Good job!
Good job, the gameplay idea is executed well!
I really enjoyed the basic mechanic and wanted to see what kind of cards you have created. But I feel like the game takes way too long to progress. Only having the basic cards in the beginning, feels a bit boring and the battles take too long. Somethings I did not understand: when the enemy loses health and I couldn't buy +2hp and +2attack cards even after the second battle.
But I like the graphic style, it is simple, but coherent. The basic card game mechanics are well done and I enjoyed it. The constructing of cards is a really good idea. Good job!
Thank you for sharing this story! The visuals are fantastic.
Looks like a good base to expand on as you have basic RTS mechanics working well. Remember to play and rate other games, to get a rating your self!
WTF. Not sure what I just saw, but it was great!
Nice concept and I really like the color splashes. The only problem I see are the controlls that feel a bit rough. Nice work!
Wow, I really enjoyed your game. The atmosphere is really oppressive and it is well written. Good job.
I really enjoyed this, thanks for making it. I liked the touch that clicking is making the music. Well done.
Really enjoyed the graphics and sounds but the controls are rough. For a platformer you mostly want direct control and not a real physics simulation. Like move to the right when i press right and jump and don't depend on gaining enough momentum. I mean this as advice, not being critical ;-) Good job for the first game you did on your own. Hope you will make another one!
The game is good balanced, gets the point across fast by ramping up the difficulty. Good job!
i really like the art. It was a bit difficult to upgrade while playing because I still had to play the game. After a few upgrades I was crushing all enemies easily :-D
I really enjoyed you game, the transfusion mechanic is novel. The levels are really hard sometimes. It feels like slapstick when a rock appears out of nowhere to run you over :-D Good job!
The balancing of the game could be adjusted so that it is faster and more fun in the beginning. It feels like the movement is too slow. Good job, though!
In the beginning I was a bit lost. But after I got the core concept, I played it really long and enjoyed it. Nice work!
I feel like you can make an intersting game out of this basis. With tactical options, etc. Obviously music and sound is missing. But information about the unit types would have been more important, i think. Good job!
