LD37 — One room

Gingerbread Houses Inc. by Bookworm31 2016-12-19T19:16:00

Thanks for the feedback! A big part of the game is supposed to be managing the supplies, but a more prominent way of displaying how much you have would probably be helpful. The other two suggestions are great as well. Thanks again for your feedback!

LD38 — A Small World

Mallows World Adventure by geeitsomelaldy 2017-05-02T05:11:32Z

Very cool game, I was impressed with how many different parts of the puzzles/different map zones there were and how they were all connected. I did have a couple issues with the items; my first game I dropped the mask in the water and couldn't pick it up again.... It was also a little bit tricky swapping items around, as well as talking to people, but I eventually got the hang of it and thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Polar Protector by AlexHoratio 2017-05-02T05:23:48Z

Really cool game! Once you get the hang of when to switch elements, and where each element is, it makes things much simpler. I really enjoyed the idea of swapping elements to fight, though the fact that the planet wasn't symmetrical made it a bit tricky figuring out when to swap. I also appreciated that your health regens over time; lets you come back a bit if you manage to clear out most of the enemies. High Score: 128

Snake On A Plane by spacedoubt 2017-05-02T04:54:27Z

I definitely enjoyed playing the game. The different perspective made it much more difficult, as you need to remember where you have been because you can't see the entire screen. The music was incredible and definitely a boost to the game. I did run into one interesting scenario where right after picking up a new orb I accidentally ran into myself, but the part that had not yet changed color. This didn't cause me to die, it just let me pass through. Only when I hit part of me that was the color I switched too did I die. Other than that, fun game, I enjoyed it.

Shifting Survival by Bookworm31 2017-04-25T18:01:59Z

Wow, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

In Good Hands by simple-blue 2017-05-02T05:33:05Z

This is a neat little game. I really enjoyed the graphics; seeing all tiny people and animal running around on the planet was cool. As was mentioned somewhere above, it was interesting when the dangers were on the far side of the planet; perhaps something bound to one of the other keys could have rotated the perspective? Also, the way you did the starting screen was cool. It took me a second to figure it out, but it ensures that the player understands the controls from the get go.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Eomro by Bookworm31 2017-08-01T15:17:31Z

Thanks for the feedback! @burgee We haven't seen that error before, so we'll look into it and hopefully sort it out. @oxrock Glad you enjoyed it! @aircraft-terrier When you get to the map screen, if you click once a start button should appear in the upper left of the screen.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

A Walk To The Finish Line by jk5000 2017-12-04T09:42:40Z

Very cool game, the puzzles are tricky and satisfying to solve. I also really liked the graphics, the way the little guys were walking looks really good. I did notice that if one guy enters a arrow tile with another one already in it, the second guy doesn't change direction.

Money Is Everything by Jani Nykanen 2017-12-05T08:19:34Z

That was an amazing game! I really enjoyed the graphics and was really impressed by the way the difficulty scaled while still being procedurally generated. It took me a bit to figure out the trick (I liked the misdirection you did!) though I still wasn't able to beat it (I'm terrible at this style of game though). Amazing job, very well done. (Audio would also have been awesome!)

Delver's Sunset by Jimbly 2017-12-04T07:07:03Z

That went much differently than I had expected! I'm normally not a big platformer, but that was a lot of fun. The final two levels were mostly just muscle memory, but once you got it down, it wasn't as difficult as I expected. Cool game and an interesting take!

Intelligent Fireball Cleanup Detail by smilewood 2017-12-28T17:53:36Z

That was really fun! I particularly enjoyed the fireball graphic, it was absolutely stunning! (If you keep working on the game I'd love to see how the other graphics turn out) How far away you could hit the fireballs from seemed a bit ambiguous, and the fire on the right click was a bit awkward (was left click being used for something I missed?). A bit more feedback on how the containment was progressing would have been nice as it seemed to jump up at a random pace. Some sort of score also would have been cool, maybe how many fireballs extinguished? The movement penalty seemed a bit low, as I didn't really notice it until I had about 70 - 80 armor, so at lower levels it didn't seem to have much effect. Overall, really awesome game! I already sunk a bunch of time playing now, and with a bit more polish I could definitely see myself sinking a bunch more!

The Precarious Balance by Somnium 2017-12-27T08:27:18Z

This is definitely one of my favorite games from the compo! I really enjoyed the feel of the game; it felt very realistic (in terms of actually balancing life). The controls were nice and smooth; I liked being able to both drag and drop as well as double click. One thing that would be nice would be seeing what exactly it was that pushed you over the edge at the end (though I may have just missed it). Overall, awesome game!

what-doesn't kill you gets stronger by kerneltt 2017-12-05T07:51:19Z

This was a cool game! It took me a second to realize that I didn't actually need to click to poke the mice, and just needed them to run into my spear. As others have mentioned; it does appear that restarting is slightly bugged as I couldn't move and no mice appeared. Overall, nice job!

Robotic Sports by TheGamer1123211 2017-12-04T08:31:27Z

I had the same issue. When you build the project for Windows, there should be a file called UnityPlayer.dll that gets added to the same directory that the executable and the data folder is in. The screenshots look cool, so I'll definitely be back to check it out once you get it up.

Robotic Sports by TheGamer1123211 2017-12-06T07:57:11Z

Neat game! The graphics were really nice and I liked the effect when you beat the opposing robot. It was a little bit on the easy side, perhaps multiple opponents could have helped with that? Overall, nice job!

Voiid by Ace17 2017-12-04T08:11:41Z

I hadn't realized at first that you had used a custom engine to create this; I'm much more impressed than I was originally. I've seen just a bit of what it takes to make a full engine and it's a ton of work, so very nice job!

I HAVE MORE by kiv 2017-12-05T07:29:49Z

That was definitely an interesting twist on the theme; I liked it! Like other's have mentioned, sound would definitely improve the game; have you heard of sfxr and bfxr? They are really simple to use sound effect generators that are super helpful.

LORD BASKETBALL by designernap 2017-12-05T08:53:29Z

Neat game! I really enjoyed the audio and the graphics. I will admit, I needed to turn on forgiving mode to beat it, but it was quite fun. I did notice that it seemed there was a bit of variability in where the ball was thrown left and right, was this intentional? Overall, nice job.

Crystal Dude by Raogs 2017-12-27T08:36:40Z

Neat concept! I only managed to make it to the 3rd wave, but I'm terrible at this kind of game so it may not be quite indicative of how difficult it is. One thing that would have been nice is some sort of game over screen; along with a score (even if it's only how many enemies you defeated). Overall, nice job! (Note: I did not leave a rating in the audio category as it appears you added some music)

GLORIOUS INTERNET POINTS by Ale 2017-12-05T07:45:00Z

This game was quite fun. It was a bit too easy to make money I think, but that gave me a chance to unlock everything relatively easily and see some of the jokes. There are some crazy things you can do (especially once you unlock that second slot and do two things at once)!

Star Destroyer by Jaloko 2017-12-04T08:17:38Z

I really enjoyed the lighting for the game. All the different colors were quite pretty and the way the player casts shadows in every direction was cool. The start of the game was rather slow though (not loading time wise, but difficulty/things happening wise).

Happy Bot Mess by meursault 2017-12-04T07:59:49Z

That was a cool concept. I am a huge fan of turn based strategy games, so this was right up my alley. I really liked the way you need to decide when to hang back and aimlessly fire your weapon to increase your movement/damage, and when to press forward. I think that the UI could have been a tiny bit clearer (especially for healing) and it might have been nice to have a couple different types of bots to control. Overall, very cool game!

Danger Dolly by ambi 2017-12-28T20:49:36Z

Neat game! I like the concept and enjoyed trying to figure out how to get everything to fit together (I got stuck at 5 boxes). Slightly more freedom of movement (fully horizontal, vertical movement) would have been nice to have. Overall, nice job!

Get Drunk! by alobker 2017-12-28T17:37:45Z

This was definitely a neat concept! I felt that the controls were a bit off; I would have preferred to have movement in all four directions with the arrow keys rather than turning, but once you got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad. The different effects as you progressively got more drunk were a really neat touch. Overall, awesome game!

Hoarding Havoc by Bookworm31 2017-12-28T21:20:31Z

Thanks to everyone who rated my game! I plan to continue developing the game and expanding on it, so all of the awesome feedback is very much appreciated. I'll post an update here when I have a new version, so keep an eye out if you're interested. Thanks again for rating my game!

Brew it! by merzlot 2017-12-05T08:36:48Z

I wish I had tabletop simulator to try this out! Looking over the rules, it looks like a lot of fun! Unfortunately, since I wasn't able to play it, I haven't rated it, but if one of my friends has tabletop simulator and I get a chance to try it out I definitely will (and come back to rate it)!

The More, The Worse by pikkufighter 2017-12-05T09:07:07Z

The graphics were very nice, but I had absolutely no idea what the objective was. Touching one of the moving logs killed you, and picking up the crossbow bolts made you slower, but I couldn't figure out the objective. Were there any more rooms? Are you able to jump?

Star Smugglers by Dr_V 2017-12-04T08:57:56Z

I really enjoyed playing this game. It feels somewhat akin to FTL, but the upgrading mechanic after deciding when to sell your goods was cool. I thought the option to invest in a retirement plan and eventually retire was a funny idea.

Maze Crawler by Hilvon 2017-12-09T00:19:35Z

I'm a huge fan of mazes, both making them and solving them, so this was a lot of fun for me. Once I read the comments and realized it was procedurally generated (or even pseudo-procedural), I was very impressed. The one thing that I felt could be improved on (besides the unfinished aspects) was some form of suspense. Solving the maze was awesome, but there wasn't really any sense of urgency. Overall, very nice game!

Deleted by Strelly 2017-12-05T08:06:40Z

Very cool game; I enjoyed the sense of urgency that it had. It was just easy enough that it felt like you could definitely go just a little bit longer on your next run, and not so difficult that it felt completely unplayable. I also noticed that there was an invisible factory. Maybe something happened to one of your textures? Overall, nice job!

Nano Life by primitive-concept 2017-12-06T08:23:01Z

I really enjoyed the game. I was a little bit confused on my first run through about how the zoom worked (the couple seconds to refocus is really cool, but it threw me off at first) and how to move nano-machines out of the dish. I got it on my second run through though and was able to win. I really liked how you actually had two different things to manage, both how many nano-machines were in the dish creating heat at any given time, but also how many bacteria were in the dish. Very cool game, nice job!

A Week of Chicken by _tiJy 2017-12-04T07:35:50Z

That was a fun game. I loved the graphics and music and was really impressed by the tutorial. The text was a tad hard to read at times, but it felt way better than any tutorial I've put together. I did manage to get myself stuck inside the coop though...perhaps a roof is in order? :D

Red eats Yellow! by Xynal 2017-12-06T08:30:38Z

Neat game, though I was a little bit confused by the mechanics. Did the yellow dots slow you down? Or was that just something it felt like was happening as a result of the zoom? I wasn't able to find the stairs anywhere (though my high score was 33). Overall, cool game and interesting concept!

Hidden Shadows by Artur Hawkwing 2017-12-04T07:25:20Z

That was a cool game. The levels were a bit tricky sometimes, I found myself wanting different camera angles, but it was neat. I particularly enjoyed the story line.

Reversed Negativity by RNGSilvercraft 2017-12-04T07:46:44Z

Cool game; it looked like it was going to be a lot easier that it actually was! (Or maybe I'm just bad!) Some sort of indicator of when the color was about to flip might have been nice, but overall, it was rather neat. I also really enjoyed the music.

Ethereal by _benhumphries 2017-12-04T08:26:47Z

Neat concept. I liked the way that deliberately luring the ghosts towards you, then turning down your light to scoot past them was done. I have to say that I was not expecting the ghost noise when you die and I may have jumped a bit.

Jonny; Life of a Procrastinator by Call_me_Nutty 2017-12-05T07:58:29Z

I liked the concept. I didn't realize at first what the numbers in the bottom left were or what the bars in the bottom right were. I also wasn't sure which bar was for which stat. Overall, neat game and good luck with future Ludum Dares!

Vice Life by meskaline 2017-12-05T08:28:49Z

This was a neat game! It felt a bit slow/repetitive at times but I liked the concept. The graphics and interface were really cool; I like how they changed depending on the choices you made.

Bestfund inc. by carld 2017-12-28T20:30:57Z

Really cool game! I only managed to get to about quarter 15 or so. My only complaint would be that once you start losing money, you've basically lost (as there is no way to go positive again) and there is not easy way to restart. Other than that, this was a really fun game!

Don't Be Greedy by Mormert 2017-12-04T01:42:18Z

This game awesome! I really liked the way the movement felt, though it was a bit frustrating if you ever reached 100 mass. Perhaps a way to dump all of your mass could have helped? Also, the music amazing; super relaxing while you frantically try to reach the cart with seconds left.

Also, 1000 pts? Challenge accepted :D Don't Be Greedy.JPG

Coffee Break by Akscan 2017-12-05T09:12:18Z

Interesting concept but the trade off for drinking the coffee could have been improved. Perhaps something where you speed up temporarily, but then slow down? And the effect diminishes the more you drink?

Fiscal Dungeon by Tom Panton 2017-12-04T08:46:58Z

That was a neat concept. It takes something traditionally good, collecting coins, and makes it bad, while taking something bad, tax returns, and making it good. I couldn't tell for sure, but did increasing your weight decrease the responsiveness? It seemed like it did, but that could just have been all in my head. Cool game!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Deck Shooter by Jimbly 2018-04-23T07:16:06Z

That was a really fun game! It really felt like one of those old-style arcade games and the deckbuilding portion (draw mechanics, buying new cards, etc) was really well done. There were some minor visual glitches (the +3 draw and too big of a deck could exceed some limits) but nothing major. Overall, really fun game!

Blue Marble Sniper: Bullet Hell Stealth by Ale 2018-04-23T10:21:50Z

This definitely was interesting to play! I'm not great (by a long shot) but it was fun to mess around for a bit and see how I could do. One question though, in the game, it mentions you keep all the points if the marble breaks, but this doesn't seem to be happening. Bug? Changed feature? Either way, really cool game (and I'm definitely gonna see how some of my friends who play more fps games fare at it)!

CCG Shoot 'em Up by Moczan 2018-04-23T05:02:30Z

I really liked this! It's definitely an interesting concept and quite fun. My one question is about how the cards' levels are determined; is it just random? or based on how often you use them? Anyway, super solid entry.

the chase by celia14 2018-04-23T05:03:57Z

This was neat. To be fair, it's not quite a game, more like an interactive story, but it was nice.

Dash and Slash by Bookworm31 2018-04-23T05:46:13Z

@vilix64 @Memel06 Thanks for the feedback! Part of the reason things move at the speed they do is because of the length of the animations/sound effects and trying to get them to line up reasonably. With a bit more time, I probably would have redone those and tried to speed it up a bit more.

Dash and Slash by Bookworm31 2018-04-23T06:10:55Z

@Gavin-Camlin Thanks! I had it planned out to use a different texture (and had just about everything implemented for it), I just completely forgot to make and use it. Whoops! If I keep working on the game, I'll be sure to make that change.

Dash and Slash by Bookworm31 2018-04-23T10:15:51Z

@meskaline Thanks! That seems to be a common trend here (and on my last entry too for that matter..); I'll have to see about a change of pace next time!

Dash and Slash by Bookworm31 2018-04-23T16:56:26Z

@Ale Thanks! I had in a system for grid-lines (it's actually in there and simply commented out right now) but I wasn't liking the way it looked. I do agree though that they probably would have helped though, so if I continue working on this, I'll definitely see about trying to make a better image for them.

Dash and Slash by Bookworm31 2018-04-24T06:03:50Z

@Jimbly So each level is actually randomly generated and different every time (except for the very first level, 0). I have a number of different 8 tile sections that get randomly selected from. What changes from level to level is the number of sections used. Thanks for the feedback! @Artur-Hawkwing Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it; I did consider a backwards card. I was somewhat on the fence about it (I wasn't sure whether I liked the way it fit; the idea was you move forward each turn, with a specific option to stop) and it simplified some logic to not implement it. @vidsneeze Thanks! Fun fact, the one tile wide gaps can be crossed using a dash and don't even need a jump.

We Will Rebuild by mralex 2018-04-23T05:12:53Z

Interesting game. I was slightly confused about how you got more money. Was it based on the number of buildings not on fire? I never got enough money to build more defensive towers after the first wave. I was really impressed with all visuals though; 3D is tricky (at least for me) so I'm always impressed when someone else does it.

PongCraft by meskaline 2018-04-23T07:28:20Z

Fun game! These definitely were two things I wouldn't have thought of together and it turned out great. I do have to ask though, is it actually possible to get it past the AI opponent? I don't think I was able to in any of the games I played. Overall, awesome game!

ASM Hell by vilix64 2018-04-23T06:07:31Z

Dang! This is super neat (and far to reminiscent of writing assembler in college...thank goodness it wasn't in binary or something) and tons of fun. The sound effects are cool, and the levels are definitely engaging. I didn't finish yet (currently working on lvl 5), but I'm definitely going to be coming back to finish it.

Shootball! by joonamo 2018-04-23T05:43:15Z

Dang! This is a super fun game! The concept is really neat; definitely a cool blend that never would have even crossed my mind. I really liked the graphics and the sound effects were super cool. The controls were a bit floaty, but not bad at all once I got used to them. My best match was 140-59; is that a good or bad score?

Dangerous Fields by Gavin Camlin 2018-04-23T06:23:16Z

Cool game! The game was definitely a balancing act between buying more difficult flowers to make more money, while not going too crazy and being unable to handle it (also, I'm terrible at shooters like this so). While I can see why having health in the shop would be nice; I also think it works well not having it here too. Overall, super game; definitely fun to play!

Impossible Car Game by Pahlsoftware 2018-04-23T06:34:57Z

Neat game! It's an interesting concept and fun to play. I didn't get a chance to try out the LAN arena, but that sounds really cool. Also, the music was amazing! The only thing that kinda bugged me was the edges of the infinite track; they were super unforgiving. Overall, really cool game!

Card Coded by Pixelhurricane 2018-04-23T05:27:20Z

Gotta say, super impressed. The game is super polished, way more than most other games I've seen. It's a ton of fun to play, the visuals are amazing, and the music is great. The only thing I think is missing is a reset hotkey; it was kinda frustrating needing to wait until it reset you if you run out of cards.
