I think you guys did well! The idea of combining pixel and hand drawn graphics is interesting. The big problem here is gameplay, it just felt very slapdash. The controls are kinda weird and hard to control, while being able to control the boomerang is nice it makes almost no difference in game. The only real impact that mechanic has was slightly curving up to hit some of the flying enemies. The player also doesn't even throw it to far, fighting enemies should feel really fun, instead it feels more like a choir in this game. I think you could expand on these mechanics a lot more and have a much better game, for example if the boomerang could interact with the environment some how (like grab coins or pixels) that could be really cool! I think the visual effects in this game were really cool but it didn't make up for the fact that the game just wasn't fun. Bug wise it seems the crocodiles kill hit box turns on a little early causing in a lot of frustrating deaths, as well many other people have pointed out how weird and buggy the terrain is. In parts of the cave section textures seemed to flicker, this could be caused by you having anti aliasing on in Unity so turning that off might fix that issue. I think if you guys focus more on gameplay first and then graphics second that would result in a much better game!
