Really amazing entry, has a great aesthetic and had a lot of fun ^^

Really amazing entry, has a great aesthetic and had a lot of fun ^^
found a few glitches like the "I shouldn't disturb dad when he's watching his shows" when he's not there ;D the graphics were pretty well done but it would fit a lot nicer if the characters are the same resolution. Great entry and concept ;D
looks great and has a nice vibe ;D
fantastic graphics, fantastic audio, fantastic fun
had a lot of fun clickin thet tutorial multiple times
Graphics are beautiful ;w; don't really see how it fits with the theme but it's got a real groovy mood ;D
pretty fun ;3 just needs a little more spice it's got everything nice. Not every game is pacapong...
I really wasn't expecting that explosion at the beginning x...x
great use of the theme and was exxxtremely hard on the last level XD felt like it needed some music ;D oh and flying up as the bird to high does crash the game as weeping rupee mentioned.
Great concept ;D but like the others were saying feels like movement is a bit sluggish and I'd suggest adding a way to restart without having to end the game by closing the window. Great work ^^
great entry ;D when I played it on gamejolt I got no audio but everyone else was sayin it's great so I'll believe 'em ;3
lol had no idea what i was getting myself into
great job on this! The music and sounds match perfectly with the gameplay, the visuals are fantastic but it looks like the theme only fits with the random track pieces.
great entry ;D it does have one of those gameplay flaws of being able to go around in circles and let enemies pile up in the center and just taking them all out at once but other than that the theme was prevalent and mechanics were unique.
XD I really thought that was the ending but I played through it one more time and realized what needed to be done... You may want to put bounds around the top and sides of the attic.
Great entry! c'(^w^c')
you might want to include those types of tips before dying x...x great job, mechanics were clear and simple enough to find out without a control list
looking forward to seeing it finished ;D
Everything really fit nice together in the game. ;D The disco in the mutant mode was a really nice touch and lets the player know they actually entered that mode if they're just focusing on where the enemies are.
Feels like it could use some music, but it was very well done. The mechanics were great along with the level design (though when jumping across some of the spikes it made me restart even though I was 3 character heights above them) and matched the theme. Glad you enjoyed the jam! ;D
Great entry ;D was a lot of fun but the camera was a bit of a pain moving around on it's own. Could use some tunes. ^^
The gameplay is enjoyable. The music is a little sub-par just being 4 notes but is pretty ambient considering. Mechanics were thought out and timeout between shape shifting was a nice touch. Great entry ;D
pley the downloaded version ;b
anyone find the hidden feature that's not in the controls? ;D
@Marc F. thanks for the input I was actually planning to add more in depth controls but ran out of time .-.
yeah enter was for debugging purposes and just restarts the room, but I forgot to have it check if music is playing before it plays the music. I also need to mess with the sound effects because they seem a lot louder then the music. x...x thanks
I don't get how it relates to the theme, though it was pretty fun ;b
I loved the art and the concept was creative ;D loved the little bit of story but wanted more. Great entry!
thanks for the great feedback! Your ability to double/triple etc.. jump is based on if the yoyo is below the player. I tried to make it apparent by the picture where you first pick up the yoyo but a lot of people seem to miss it.. You could either try to keep pulling the mouse down whenever you're about to jump or move the mouse around in circles (which I find easiest) timing the speed of the circle when you're about to jump next.
hopefully this helps

again great graphics and controls need some work. Would be nice to be able to do something with all that gold $$$$$$$.
pretty neat mechanics ^^ trying to destroy the bombs is pretty difficult.. you don't have enough time to turn the ship around in the correct direction and it's hard to tell exactly what direction the ship is facing when you're trying to watch all the bombs. I'd suggest using a different color for the front or making it more noticeable somehow or give the player the ability to move around to avoid like in Asteroids. You got quite a lot done for such a short amount of time ;D Great work!
Great mechanics as usual ;D
love it <3
nice to see you added the ability to reach the last comment.
pretty fun ;D could use some music.
It seemed a bit too easy though.. took around 4 minutes at the most.
nice entry ;D I managed to win
could use some music
oh and backspace restarts the game..
Hello, Yes I helped make this
Thank you :D yea I agree the jump thing is a bit distracting, it was more going to be for slam attacks and it would be a lot smaller. I had planned for it being 2 player where the platforms would gradually be getting lower until they reach the floor where there's no power. The players would suck up the power from the platforms making them lower and can use that power to jump higher or to use as slam attacks or ramming into the other player.
@a333 yeah sorry I got carried away with the thought of a level editor and forgot to work on the core game, then I got stuck on a bunch of bugs. It was still a great experience though as I haven't worked with save data before. I'll do better next ld ;D
great concept and love the little leprechaun dude. I agree with makiki99, there are some pixel perfect jumps but somehow I managed. Great work!
It's nice to see a game with so many comments answered. Graphics are superb, audio is great but the mechanics seem a little lacking to me, having the enemies just walk toward you allows you to do the whole "round up enemies by running around in circles" thing and then just blast em. Maybe if there were more than one opponent/color and allow them to chase another random team it'd make it a little more interesting. Great job on this guys! ;D
Thanks @sean-s-leblanc I do have a lot more planned for this, but I have too many directions I could go with it.. maybe I'll just make a bunch of minigames or something. I'm pretty happy with the bird sample I got in my backyard :bird:
@stevie-bushman I was originally planning to have it so that you have chicks randomly and you run through the field trying to keep them healthy by gathering corn cobs and bringing them to your nest. Then your score is based on how many reach the point where they can run out on their own to collect corn, but you only have so much corn to go around so the more that reach that stage the harder it becomes. However I spent a lot of time trying to get things less ram and cpu intensive (running a bunch of while loops on like 1600 stalks :o ) I'll have to experiment more with shaders as I'm pretty sure there's an easier and faster solution somewhere.
Thanks for letting me know @moski antivirus programs tend to do that with gamemaker games sadly found this on it https://www.reddit.com/r/gamemaker/comments/4ulcp2/malware_or_virus_warning_on_installation_of_game/ so it probably has to do with the signing of the file. I uploaded a html version that's the same as the exe enjoy ;D
@jack-maxwell @lereveur it seemed to dip a bunch when I started parenting, the ai is parented to the player, and the player is parented to an object which applies a force relative to the distance to the player when it's in range using Hooke's Law. I'm really certain though that the stalks could be better achieved with a shader. I'm still trying to figure out the best direction to go, maybe even a little generative story with little farms.
Looks great and movement is really fluid, just wish there were healths scattered about x...x definately one I'd like to keep playing to see if I can reach the end. Some music would be nice ;D
Doing a check to see if the spawner is within the view would help to lower the spawning (aufgerufen lol) also maybe do a check to see how many are in the room before spawning more. I love the graphics and the outlines! bfxr is good for soundfx and sunvox is a pretty great tracker for making music ;b Great job!
The title screen is nice and clean so are the gameplay graphics for the most part. I'd suggest doing something with the fire though, particle effects are pretty fun to get into and I'd maybe suggest doing something like this https://media.giphy.com/media/l0HlTy9x8FZo0XO1i/giphy.gif where the fire starts out a orange yellowish color and turns to red and grows transparent. The mechanic is great and love the way the pancake flips (though not sure why it's red thought it was a burger ;D) wish it had some audio ;b Great job!
you may have to recalculate the normal for this https://i.gyazo.com/211513189d809a770519ab15925e9f48.png I would also suggest slerping the direction to the mouse instead instantly setting it because it looks glitchy. The waves and music sound magnificent, and I love their mustaches.
@handle once all the nodes are gone you lose and it saves your score ;D thanks for playing and the feedback! Pretty tired so I'll give yours a go tomorrow (saw it earlier in the discord and looks great!).
It took me a bit to actually beat a world. I didn't realize obliterating the scenery recharged the bomb faster. Would be nice to see your score and past scores on the title screen. The audio could use some work, the jumping/hovering sound feels like it cuts off too fast on release. Had fun though and graphics are great! ;D superb entry!
Love it ;D just a little slow though (unless it's just me). Its neat how the users are assigned a random color and I'm amazed it's multiplayer, I'll definitely check out the source for this one.
Great movement and music, I can stare at the lava all day!
Those sharks are just gorgeous, don't know how I'm gonna haul the chest up with them blocking my only exit. :V
Beautiful character art, monopolizing the juice box and a good jam 👍🐌
Love all your programmed animations ♥ squishing and using sin waves always are great juice. Were the sword swings completely programmed too? Amazing job 👍
Man those beta fish got me! Really love seeing people use pico8 for game jams and procedurally generated maps. The character animations before the movement helped a lot in understanding their movement, great design and flow! <3
@bowen @efilheim There's a big ball guy you can feed the ball plant things to and he gives you more seeds and a bird like every 20 of them. I was going to make em give you other random 3d objects and fun things to play with but ran out of time even though I pulled an all nighter the last day. I actually invented this pseudo 3d trick back in 2018 https://voxeledphoton.itch.io/lovebug but it wasn't as effective since I just made it more transparent and was using some 3rd power distance manipulation instead of just using a sine wave. I also got all the depth stuff sorted out and 3d audio so that was fun. Thanks for playing guys I'll play yours too in a bit.
Had a bunch of fun, great mechanics and it made you have to plan things out a bit. Graphics are superb :v:
Sadly my computer had trouble even trying to handle the 320px graphics so I'm glad I saw it on stream to give it a better review. It looked really well polished for such little time, I have a hard time even trying to get menus in my games so it's neat to see it when it's there. Hoping I can get to a better comp to get a better wack at slayin some bob. gg
Took me a bit to figure out there was the >>> skip button but once I did I started to enjoy it :) The maze was kinda cool but might have been more fun if I had to juggle a few tomatoes. It actually crashed or something right after that level, like the screen went all black (I could still hear the conveyor and wind noise though). Great entry! :D
Great entry, would be neat if you could upgrade the shapes for each disaster or something. I had to use the lightning a lot for all those pesky anaglyph plants cause they'd get in the way of the other disasters. Had a lot of fun thanks :D
Would have loved some audio, fun though :D
the jam version is pretty buggy such as the file pointing error mentioned above and the trex wasn't even showing for me. It seemed like I was able to select other animals and sort of move them but I wasn't exactly sure what was going on. Graphics are looking great but a little cluttered and really blurry. The sounds are great so far as well. Great job
Thanks @FireHawk if you're ever trying to make things smoother x+=(targetx-x)*(a small decimal) in an update event does wonders, or if you're trying to make springy things this guy has a nice little article https://gafferongames.com/post/spring_physics/ and this guy has some neat implementations https://ghoscher.com/2013/03/02/simple-spring-physics/ Unity also has some physics stuff but it's fun learning how it all works so you can tweak the values to your needs. Thanks @Zimmer ;D I'm sure it probably is better though I've only had the chance to test it like twice with someone else. Thanks @joemid had loads of fun programming all the movement and figuring out where to draw all the circles and rectangles until it actually looked like a hand xD The ai can either be really hard when you don't understand it but once you figure it out it's pretty unbalanced as @Gavin-Camlin pointed out (thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it, I'm trying to find some time to play through everyones between studying for finals x..x). @Q-ro diagnal aiming sounds interesting but it would stop the player from moving as much which I was trying to focus on. Really glad you liked it ;D @Rodrigo Denúbila I'll take a look as soon as I can! It's cause all the animation I did was with math and points! ;D so happy everyone's enjoying it! I'll try and find some ways to make the gameplay a bit more balanced
Saw it in Tim's stream ;D great looking game! As he pointed out in the stream there's the bug when you slide on the edge of a platform you can end up getting stuck. The sloths were a great touch!
Graphics and audio were great but some sound fx would be nice too. I don't know if I can really vote for audio though since I didn't hear any sfx and the music wasn't made by you guys. It seems like there's too many enemies and nothing the player can really do to avoid it all. I personally didn't really feel like I was achieving much of anything. Where are the scores saved? I think my score was 827 lifetime 427. Progressing great though so far, Great job!
oops sorry princess! (don't know why that was the first thing i tried once i got a gun) The gun has some missing pixels and as honest dan was saying conflicting art styles really detract from a game, I would have rather seen the art of the platforms and items and effects made by you. The platforming feels a bit floaty and if you get up next to a wall and spam the jump you get shot up into the air (was really fun to mess with though.. was trying to find a place I could try to fly out of the game but you closed it all in =.=') there was a sentence or two that didn't make sense but after a few times messing around I saved her lol good job ;D
Please take all this as constructive criticism! I would suggest letting the player know what the situation is and why enemies are attacking. Try to keep art resolution the same between sprites and background as consistency goes a long way. The slashing mechanic made me feel a bit detached from the characters (try picturing yourself standing there and just seeing them die from an unknown source) I'm guessing it's either like a telekinetic thing or some invisible entity that escaped from a lab idk but make it apparent to the player. I'm also not sure about how you say art is a genre as it's generally considered as just an asset in games. The wave text also mostly stayed to the right and a bit off the screen until it said "wave 3" and "deadly wave". As others said audio ads a lot to games and feedback so try and add those in whenever you have a chance https://beepbox.co/ is really great for making music and https://www.bfxr.net/ is great for sound effects if you're looking for something to use. Awesome job for your first game and in one day! ;D
It was pretty fun, the graphics are great along with the music and sfx. Once you get enough resources though you can just build and fill the screen but then there's practically nothing more to do and the score sores over 200,000. I would suggest trying to give something more for the player to do or make the platforming more interesting somehow, maybe even have flooding and allow the player to keep building upwards. Great job!
