LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Save the Plants by joski 2017-12-05T20:15:20Z

Absolutely fantastic. Love the dual control system and how hectic it can get with many plants, works really well with the 'release to zip backwards' making the quick backtracking a tactical decision to make, whether it to be to replenish water or to make the most of a infinite water power up. Graphics are beautiful menu UI and instructions are clear and follow the theme nicely, nice one!

The Luckiest Businessman by mortus 2017-12-05T19:15:16Z

The whole time playing I was thinking "Is there any way I can stop pissing the police off?", then I realised it was intentional and was a cool way to open up some more options without spoiling them too early. Finding it difficult to actually give some criticism; I guess just more content for this great vertical slice :)

Dimension Leak by muumeroinen 2017-12-05T18:55:42Z

I love the 'feel' the character has, everything feels reactive to how I play it; good stuff. Fantastic art style even though inconsistent in places, I'm not sure the player fits into the environment art and the with every sprite using a pixelated style, the particle effects look a bit off. Some of the jumps are a little too hard to make and I did find parts of the second level more fustrating than challenging.

Despite the improvements the feel of the character is still fantastic, I could swing that sword all day!

EDIT: As someone below just mentioned, and I now remember, a lot of frustration came from the controls. Why have the shift key as attack? Not only did my computer continually beg for sticky keys to be activated, but it's a weird position for my hands to be in.

Green Chefs and Pancakes by MrAssassin 2017-12-06T01:31:25Z

@kapura Are you passing to the next chef?

- A/Space to charge flip - Hit chef above with pancake, avoiding the walls

If that doesn't work let me know, must be a bug :D

@catspawsgames thankyou! I'm gutted I didn't have time for sound effects, I had uni lectures on the 3rd day :)

Slimelands by Wagner 2017-12-05T18:41:21Z

Cool core idea! Looking at it from my point of view, it seems like your scope was just a little too big to pull of perfectly. You could have done with some Menus and some sort of controls list (I firstly picked up my controller and the character moved, making me think that your game supported controllers and didn't realise that the only way to attack was by using the mouse.

Honestly though I think that this has got loads of potential, I'd love to see you develop the combat into a more complex and reactive system :)

Crimson Recon by TobiasNL 2017-12-05T15:24:55Z

Immense amount of polish for a jam game! I agree with the guy above though, for a game so difficult (at least for myself), It'd be best to reduce the amount of time it takes me to restart the game. Fab idea, too :)

Squares & Hexes by Tom Robson 2017-12-05T19:29:33Z

Nice simple concept and execution, although some of the levels felt a little unfair; more so the ones that had obstacles directly next to the spawn. Link to the theme is arbitrary, used more of just a diagetic way to increase the difficulty/speed, as far as I am aware there is no way to get to the end of a level without picking one of the hex's up? Despite this, after some balancing this is a game on par with the likes of Super Hexagon, nice one!
