Pretty fun concept and the sword swinging / death animations are pretty satisfying.

Please don't bind things to Shift, because it triggers Sticky Key warning on Windows. :P

I really enjoyed this. Very nice and tightly controlled. Shame about there being no sound!

rixium 2017-12-05 18:49

It's really good, and I love the effects. Biggest issues with it are the lack of sound and music (?) and the damn shift key. Sticky keys killed me man :(

Really nice work, the swing of the sword and the attacking effects make the weapon feel really weighty and satisfying. The platforming and level design is very solid too!

It's unforgiving, which is great but some checkpoints might be worth doing, if just for the jam when people tend to only spend a few minutes on each game. Otherwise, I really liked it. My favourite game so far!

I liked the snappy sword mechanic, it felt really fun and responsive to use. I also liked the variety of different types of enemies.

The art style was a bit incoherent, with pixel art and some more "realistic" looking graphics like the explosions and the portals mixed together. Also, with Megaman-like music this game would have been more fun!

I really like what you've done with the attack! The game would definitely have benefited from some sound effects, but I definitely understand the time constraint problem.

It was interesting playing. It would have been great with some bug hunting sounds to get the mood right. Otherwise it was solid play. A bit hard not getting hit on the head by one of the bouncies.

Very nice and tight controls here! Pretty demanding game, but as a lover of retro platformers I had a blast playing it. Like a lot the metroid-esque ambientation. Personally I didn't have the shift issue (using OSX here), but I do miss some sound. Buts it's a LD game anyway. Congrats on this!

I love the 'feel' the character has, everything feels reactive to how I play it; good stuff. Fantastic art style even though inconsistent in places, I'm not sure the player fits into the environment art and the with every sprite using a pixelated style, the particle effects look a bit off. Some of the jumps are a little too hard to make and I did find parts of the second level more fustrating than challenging.

Despite the improvements the feel of the character is still fantastic, I could swing that sword all day!

EDIT: As someone below just mentioned, and I now remember, a lot of frustration came from the controls. Why have the shift key as attack? Not only did my computer continually beg for sticky keys to be activated, but it's a weird position for my hands to be in.

Not a bad game! The graphics were nice and the gameplay was enjoyable. However the lack of sound kind of killed the mood for me. Also as already stated, shift key activates sticky keys.!

Really fun. Great art.

Awesome entry! I liked it a lot. Challenging but clever game, great art, smooth sword animation, second nightmare difficulty. A lot of content for game jam entry!

This was super awesome. I don't know where to start. I love the metroidesque and difficult really difficult, but not unfair platforming. Double jumping is always a welcome feature for that. The best thing I have to say about this is how very satisfying attacking is. The ability to take out a whole platform of enemies in a single, well-timed sweep is feels wonderful. I spent so long on the second level, just "One more timing" myself until I eventually completed it. I even the love the style of tutorial you chose, forgoing an explanation on the page in exchange for just making it part of the game so I could learn to do it as I played is brilliant. I can't tell you how much frustration I had on those leaping metroids. I simply could not get the timing right to beat them for a long time. What makes them the hardest enemy I think, is not the jumping part, bu they take two hits. Masterful. I was going to criticize something here, I swear, but after all this gushing, I just can't remember what it was. Probably something about being able to do more with the theme, but I don't care.

I really enjoyed this game. attack range is wide so it's comfortable to destroy enemies. difficulty is suit for me. I cleared every stage. I love this game!

tropferl 2017-12-05 19:50

I like the game, it's fun, but I think it should be a bit more forgiving(maybe more checkpoints or a second life). To me the first jump feels a bit too long, while the second jump feels a bit too short. This made the jump mechanic sometimes very frustrating to me. That's also the reason why I haven't completed the game.

The graphics look nice(and fit good together), the introduction to the game is well done and the levels are well designed.

Overall I enjoyed the game, but it's few flaws keep it away from being great.

x-budsterized-x 2017-12-06 20:35

Amazing game but as you have said and many others, the lack of sound (and shift key - seriously?) killed most of the game :( if you remapped the key to something else I bet it would still count towards bug fix since it breaks the gameplay for most people

I definitely see a strong potential in your game. You have got a nice level design going on over there too! :)

muumeroinen 2017-12-06 20:55

Thanks for feedback everyone!

@x-budsterized-x Ill do that!
