Looks like I'm the first customer!

At first I thought I outsmarted the game by building on the sides but that turned out to be a no go, and then I got wrecked due to my 'all my eggs in one basket' approach. So I spread out a bit and did much much better.

It wasn't immediately clear what each room type did, but my strategy was to just keep a variety and that seemed to keep me in business most of the time.

Do the meteors fall randomly? It felt like they were seeking out my structures at some points which was a little discouraging, but maybe it was just bad luck!

No bugs, smooth and intuitive, and a creative little game. Hi5!

A great experience overall. The funny sounds kept me laughing and the simplistic gameplay makes the game incredibly fun!

The sound is so funny hahaha. Its fun to play also

This game's concept is very interesting! Really liked the music and graphics too.

I did find that the game felt a bit too easy though, since I felt I was playing the game for a while and didn't get hit once. I honestly just stopped playing around the 3000 point mark since I wasn't seeing the end of the game in sight.

I really do like the game loop though. Running around and trying to keep your buildings balanced while dodging meteors was really fun. I just feel the game would be better with a more possible end game condition.

Anyway, all in all I really like this game! Great work!

First off I really love the music 10/10! The concept is really interesting but I felt it was very easy (reached 30k+).

I quickly placed all the buildings to cover the screen then was a bit confused what to do. So, I started building off the screen (by quite a bit), thought the screen might scroll up or something but it didn't so I sat for a few minutes waiting for the meteors to destroy my building but it took quite a bit of time and my points are still going up quite a bit (game is running in background).

Overall great music and concept.

@burgee Hey, thanks for the feedback. The meteors are actually random, but since they tend to fall to the middle of the screen, they usually hit the towers.

Fun game to play, though I stopped playing twice due to the jump just glitching and sending me offscreen. The music is great!

zimmer 2018-04-24 11:53

@juju Thanks for the feedback. We are trying to debug the offscreen jumping thing. It seems that depending on computer speed and screen resolution these bugs are more or less frequent.

Nice idea, a bit too easy though. managed to fill up the whole screen. then its just pure safety. wasnt clear what did what (in ressources) but it doesnt seem like it mattered?(I mean I feel like I got an idea, abused it and filled up everything but I still dont know the specifics.) Its a great game idea though, good concept!

Pretty solid game. I like the art particularly. I wish there was a description of the differences of each room type. I filled up the entire screen pretty quick. Apparently you can even build rooms above the screen, but you can't see them. :P

@joh Hey, yeah, we are still fixing some bugs. Regarding the resources, residential tiles produce people per second, the commercial one produces money per second and the industrial one produces materials per second. To build a tile you need 20 of each of the other two resources that the tile you are trying to build doesn't produce

niksorvari 2018-04-26 00:46

Cool idea, unsure how to build past 1st floor

zimmer 2018-04-26 12:39

@niksorvari Oh, that was a bug. The size of the buildings was only correct on 1920x1080 screens. It is fixed now if you want to check the game out. Thanks for the feedback!

anthony-dunlap 2018-04-26 15:37

Great idea, but I don't think the buildings really do anything, and meteors just obliterate everything i build, kind of annoying.

darkwing00duck 2018-05-03 08:37

Interesting idea, beautiful graphics and music. There is a wish more difficulties.

luckyfeathers 2018-05-04 12:41

I think there's a bug. I cannot jump to higher floors. Never used Lua before, but I had a quick look through your source code and it seems like the resolution might be an issue? I'm playing on a 2560 x 1440 resolution monitor.

Anyway, the game looks really neat. The pixel art is very good, and the music and sound effects are great. The code mechanics is where the game unfortunately lacks a little bit. It doesn't seem like the buildings actually do anything? I'd expect the people rate to increase with residential buildings, and similar for money with commercial and materials with industrial. I believe this would be possible by simply going to your player.defineSprite() function and increase your ui.peopPS, ui.monPS and ui.matPS by a certain amount. Well, they're local variables so you'd have to make functions on your ui script, but you get the point :)

I realize I probably seem quite harsh. The game is actually really good, but with a little bit more work on the code it could have been amazing. Good luck next game jam! :)

It was pretty fun, the graphics are great along with the music and sfx. Once you get enough resources though you can just build and fill the screen but then there's practically nothing more to do and the score sores over 200,000. I would suggest trying to give something more for the player to do or make the platforming more interesting somehow, maybe even have flooding and allow the player to keep building upwards. Great job!

mic-matrix91 2018-05-14 18:54

I think the game is pretty easy, in a few time I could fill all the spaces with the buildings.. maybe it needs some calibration, like add more meteors or increasing the resources more slowly. Also maybe it's useful to add some explanation about the building cost and resources production. Despite that it's a very funny game, the music is very good and I love the audio effects, expecially the run and the jump, that are very funny ahah The graphics are nice too! Good job
