Quick reminder to get more players: Use a thumbnail for your game. Otherwise your game is presented with this grey box. Some great Games are not played because of a missing thumbnail ... You can still change it by editing your submission page :)

god-colo 2020-04-24 06:35

Those graphics are AWESOME! I felt like a boss that can eat planets! And the destruction effect is just super!! You really need to put a thumbnail for this to get as many players as possible! The thumbnail on the itchio page is just fine! :open_mouth: Greato Jobu!

congusbongus 2020-04-25 03:41

The graphics are really nice but I was a bit lost and the game crashed on me :( P.S. please play and give feedback on others' games, this will result in more views for your game!

swanijam 2020-04-26 02:05

@congusbongus Thank you! We've managed to clean up the project and get a better build out - it should be a lot better if you want to try it. :D and now that we've got that together it's time to play some ldjams and give some feedbacks

swanijam 2020-04-26 02:07

@god-colo THANK YOU WE ARE V PROUD OF IT :) ! and yes we finished up a bit late during the jam and didn't have time to get a proper build out and decorate our game pages, but we have now got some nice gifs, a thumbnail - the works !!! :)

swanijam 2020-04-26 02:09

@pilarius Thanks for the reminder! we finished up a bit late and didn't have time to get our stuff together, but now we've got a fancy cover art and some gifs and everything.

Great Game Guys. but The Audio Seems To Stop and Bug Out at Times...

jawsarn 2020-04-26 07:58

Super great aesthetics and nice gameplay mechanics. A bit repetitive to have to watch the same sequences, I would either make skippable or shorten them down. I noticed that you could get hit when you've thrown your spear and hit, not a big problem but doesn't feel as a player that you were at fault when you couldn't move but were stuck in a sequence. Otherwise great job!

homunculusgames 2020-04-26 08:03

When you enter the planets after destroying them is crazy beautiful! Great job guys.

superpatch 2020-04-26 08:33

Amazing work! I really love the art style, the animations and the overall concept. I think there is definitely something special there, would really like to play a full game based on this one day! I had a few issues with audio and the spear throwing felt a bit clunky overall, but nothing really to worry about.

le-slo 2020-04-26 10:58

Wow, excellent game! The graphics are specially top notch. I would love the abitilty to speed up / skip dialogues and scenes (specially the latter once I've seen the first one and are allo the same). I was able to complete the game without using the dash ability (I didn't see the options before playing) although I did have some annoying moments where I think it could have helped me to win earlier. The gameplay in the 3 planets it's actually the same, that's a pity because they look so different, maybe the hearts can be moving in one of the planets, or the hazard (like the lasers) could follow you, this simple touches can be enough to make the gameplay feel fresh for a jam game. The zoom in the camera when you take the big spear to enter the planet after hitting the third heart is a bit too much. I think that's all I have, congratulations for the awesome game, I think there is potential to add more planets and galaxies, add more story background... if you wanted to expand the game. Great work!

designernap 2020-04-26 13:10

Ok, full marks here for graphics. Wonderful presentation, style and execution. Really nicely done. There are a couple of glitchy control moments, mostly around when the spear re-appears and if you are aiming when you get knocked out of orbit. Aside from that, this was solid. Really liked it :)

thebreakfast 2020-04-26 21:20

Katamari Silver Surfer. Awesome graphics and really juicy gameplay, I love the final kill on each of the planets. Actually, all of the damage sounds were great! It was a little janky taking damage, and it felt a little too easy. With some additional challenge, abilities and story this could definitely be the start of something special. The presentation overall is just so gorgeous. I mean even right from hitting the start button and having the planet eat the main menu, what a smart move! Great work!

guladam 2020-04-29 20:38

Banger graphics.

Such a refreshing entry for a game jam. Absolutely well done, crew! :)

omickron 2020-04-29 21:11

Great game. Everything looks very beautiful and colorful. Interesting mechanics. I want to dilute the simple flight from planet to planet with something. Pleasant sound. Excellent atmosphere.

attala 2020-04-30 15:47

Fantastic game experience! My daughter couldn't stop playing it. The graphics and sound really make a nice atmosphere/mood. Fun little twist at the end :)

trexxak 2020-04-30 22:05

Absolutely stunning visual work! The graphical fidelity is nothing but breathtaking and the artstyle in general is just on point. One could even be led to think this was a AAA title prototype that got leaked or something :D

The movement on the other hand, especially the seems between overworld and individual levels, as well as the awkward movement angles on the planets made me have motion sickness. Throwing the javeline could be a little bit more forgivable, too.

I'm curious to see where this is going! Thank you for this great entry!

mza 2020-04-30 23:11

This is one gorgeous game. Let me kow about your future plans with this game.

inky 2020-05-01 00:41

Thank you all for the useful feedback and the comments! This was a lot of fun to make, and we're very proud of the submission!! :D Really gets you pumped to make more games.

@thebreakfast, wow Katamari Silver Surfer is a spot on comparison! I'm happy it reminded you of Katamari, that art style is so much fun.

@le-slo it's funny you say that! We prototyped the lasers following you around during the jam, and the idea of moving from galaxy to galaxy was actually where this all started! It was a bit much to make feasible in time, but we've def been talking about how to spice things up mechanically.

@trexxak Thank you so much, that's high praise! I'm sorry it gave you motion sickness though...did it have anything to do with the speed, or the rotating, or was it specifically the camera angles?

trexxak 2020-05-01 01:38

@inky I think it might've been the rotation mainly, but now that you mention it, maybe if the speed was a bit slower the rotation wouldn't have been so hard on me :D

jontherealjon 2020-05-01 05:45

This game is super nice looking, I give you guys props for the stunning visual work. I do think it would've been cool to see each planet have their own way of attacking/killing them, as they all are rather similar, however I can't blame you since it is a jam game. I feel that the cutscene for entering the mouth is rather excessive with the zoom in. The game was pretty fun for what it is though, good job guys.

theqiwiboy 2020-05-01 15:11

The animations for this game (especially when you beat a planet) are amazing. My little brother was playing it and he thought it was funny that the planet you serve didn't have a collider, so you could go inside the planet (before the ending). I expected a boss fight when you got eaten by the big planet, and I wish there was some epic music when you get eaten, but overall a great game! (I also liked the font).

studiocurtis 2020-05-01 19:49

I watched the lets play video that someone posted to your Itch.io page (I was not able to play since I'm not on a Windows machine). I love the graphics, ambient sound, fluid sense of movement, and the whimsical sense of floating in space. The light-hearted vibe kind of takes a nose-dive when you have to start killing innocent looking, child-like things. I would consider a different kind of space food that does not involve violence for this particular game. The beauty of the piece deserves a life-affirming game mechanic :-)

fabighindaru 2020-05-01 20:05

I'm having a seizure but i don't care 5/5! ^^

nonumbersgames 2020-05-01 20:15

Very attractive landing page, gifs add a lot of life to it and showcase the beautiful art and dynamics of the game.

Menu transition to game is a really nice touch, immediately immersed me into the game.

Like how there are subtitles for what the planet is saying, though feel like the white speech bubble is less developed than the subtitles font, made me feel like the subtitles were in game and the bubble was added on, instead of the other way around.

Beautiful art, both of the main character and the planets.

---------------

Hit sounds and animations are very impactful and satisfying. Wish there was a bit more impact when the player is getting hit by the planets.

In combat, feels like I'm too close to the planet, and have too little control of where I aim - dash helps, but I think controls when battling feel a bit unresponsive because the planet is also rotating, but its hard to feel it when field of view is so close to the surface. Maybe keeping the camera a bit further back would help, not sure.

Also while spear has nice sounds and animations, I feel it takes just a little bit too long to respawn.

Sounds, effects and animations are really well done, both for player and for planets.

-------------------------

Change of controls and responsiveness when in combat and holding a heart feels a bit frustrating at first, take some getting used to.

Music was nice, but on a bit of a short loop.

------------------

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially when I got used to the controls, really good game. Wish there was more replayability/challenge so I could play more of it, but I know I am asking for too much with how much the existing content is polished.

mattwagar 2020-05-01 21:00

@theqiwiboy Thank you and your brother so much for playing! We also wanted to make a final boss fight with the big planet but only so much you can do in 72 hours. We were surprised we could crank out 3 planets honestly!!

zubspace 2020-05-01 22:02

This game is interesting and a lot of things are noteworthy: The environment, player and planets look beautiful. Going from free flight to planet works seamlessly. The crazy animation you get for beating a planet is amazing!

But there are a couple of negatives: Hitting a planet which turns around like crazy with no crosshair felt like trying to hit a mosquito with a laser pointer. FPS did go up and down wildly which didn't make it easier. Also, each planet looks differently, but the gameplay is exactly the same, which is unfortunate. And sometimes when moving around, it feels like you have some gimbal lock issues, but it's hard to tell.

However: Good job for a 3D game! It's a nice adventure and the ending was funny :)

eran-haas 2020-05-02 01:01

Art and Audio were both really fantastic!

Controls/rotation felt a little awkward using mouse and keyboard, going to have to come back to it with a gamepad.

rayriver 2020-05-02 08:23

Really nice graphics and game play! Good job! I don't want be its last meal, I want to fight it!

khud0 2020-05-02 15:26

Planet destruction animation is awesome!

mika-la-grand 2020-05-02 15:49

The graphics and mood are good, but I couldn't figure out how to destroy the planets. There are these arrows on the planets pointing towards the bottom of the planet, but nothing happens when you hit the bottom. After a while, I tried hitting these arrows (which later turned out to be hearts). However, it was too difficult to hit them as the planet moves around a lot and the control over the movement of the player isn't great. The player also needs to be very close to the planet, which doesn't help either.

sievo 2020-05-03 23:02

Great aesthetic! Took me a while to figure out you could aim (hold left mouse), I saw it in the pause menu. Overall great entry!!

gavin-camlin 2020-05-04 01:07

I absolutely adore this game! The art style melts my heart with how cute the main character and the planets are. I also really love all the different shaders and VFX in the game, really give it that juice that helps it shine even more. My only problem was that the core loop was a little tedious and the aiming camera was a little hard to control if you held it for to long. I gotta ask what render pipeline did you use?

mattenaps 2020-05-04 05:10

@gavin-camlin Thank you so much! We had a lot of fun working on this one. :3 Also as far as the pipeline goes, it's just Unity's standard render pipeline.

red-ash 2020-05-04 15:09

Awesome VFX ! Coupled with the great artstyle makes a really impressive game :D Congrats !

jmad 2020-05-05 23:33

Such a shame this game doesn't have more ratings! My tired eyes struggled a bit with the very fast rotations and full white screen when delivering the fatal blow, but it was still extremly cute and fun to play. Lovely idea. Loved the different bosses and giggled at the ending. One thing I have to add : I expected from the gifs for the game to be fast-paced, and readied my reflexes, but was hit with the slow intro dialog, would have been cool to speed it up by cliking, or delivering faster!

Long story short : am satisfied.

lyrcaxis 2020-05-08 19:59

Some weird diet, this world :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(edit, just noticed, you called them "worlds" in game, but they are indeed planets..)

Anyway, the VFX are amazing.. I liked the gameplay part as well, and I admire your decision to end it after 3 planets, as it would get repetitive unless you added more power-moves + music to the game -- which would potentially cause the game to go way out of scope.

I don't really care for a story but, in case you do, it could be better hahaha.

Overall superb entry! Probably the best VFX I've seen in jam games, and proper controller/gameplay/SFX to match that

johnnysix 2020-05-09 21:06

Love the art and space flying. I wish I had a faster computer to run this, as once the planet combat began, I crashed out of the game.

I'd strongly urge you guys to keep working on this, as it's a very cool concept. :v:

strega 2020-05-10 00:04

Really awesome aesthetic. Love the flying around feeling. The particle effects were really well done. The planet combat was pretty fun, but camera often flew inside of the character for me making it hard to aim/play.

renrok 2020-05-11 13:13

Stunning little game! Gorgeous visuals, lots of color. Love it! Especially the cutscenes for the final blow.

Music loop was nice, it didn't bother me and didn't fell short. Some sound effects felt a little out of place though.

Speaking of gameplay: free roam flying felt nice, but battle segments felt wierd. Rotation of the planets paired with slowed down movement of the character made it to hard and unenjoyable to aim( As some mentioned above, camera was a bit buggy, flying in strange spots sometimes, which was really disorienting. I noticed it would mostly happen when enemies push the character away with their attacks - guess transition between free roam/battle breaks something.

Other than that - great entry!

inky 2020-05-13 19:17

Thank you so much for the praise and critique everyone! And congrats to you guys for doing ludum dare too!

@gavin-camlin that compliment melts my heart, I'm glad you enjoyed it ^ ^ We're def revisiting the camera and the core loop after all the feedback there, lmao. Also, we used lightweight render pipeline!
