LD45 — Start with nothing

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-08T19:46:04Z

Hey hey, nice game! The concept made me chuckle, it's a good interpretation of the theme, and like some others have said, a cool humor stealth combination! I thought it was difficult to move, but you know that from the other comments. Nice job!

Quatocicople by xk_the_name 2019-10-08T19:59:32Z

Wow nice art, and the sound effects are WONDERFUL! Did you make the music? This game has like, a whole really unique soundtrack basically, and it sounds good! Collecting coins almost plays like a rhythm game. Nice job!

Soundmarine by Dustyroom 2019-10-08T20:25:49Z

I'm such a sucker for layered music, and this is some of my favorite! You did an insanely good job, and you killed it with style too. The shading and coloring is inspiring! I kept losing my submarine as you know happens, but even then I had fun accidentally collecting music and hearing it all come together

Alin by zimennik 2019-10-08T18:41:34Z

Cool concept, I liked how the camera panned out when I started playing, and how it tilts. Reminds me of Seasons After Fall, if you've never heard of it you might find it cool! It's a game that also uses the directional element selection, and you guys did that well.

Pocketon Peak by bwalter 2019-10-08T04:02:05Z

I'm echoing @chelC here, I felt like I was playing a little Pokemon game as soon as I started it up! I liked your monster designs a lot, and the music in the cave was great too

Nothing to Say by celia14 2019-10-19T06:01:10Z

Loved this game a lot! It's super cute, and also really captures that tongue tied part of dating so well ^ ^

Snake Farmer by sorecactus 2019-10-08T03:39:29Z

Hey hey, I wasn't able to download your game! I think you need the rest of the build folder with your upload, but right now it's just the .exe (maybe?) Snake farmer sounds like a very charming game though, I would love to play it when it's uploaded!

Untitled Ghost Game by mgoadric 2019-10-08T18:29:31Z

Awww, I made a friend! (that was weird) This game has a lot of charm, and the play on the name made me chuckle. Kept throwing the keys in front of the guy like 'why won't you pick them up >:C' until I realized I had to hand them to him xD Oh well! That's what I'm like when I'm sleepy too. Great job!

Planet 7: No Data by Belonzik 2019-10-08T17:42:10Z

This was great! I liked your art and vibe a whole lot. This reminds me of sci-fi horror thrillers where you're lost in space and it seems impossible to save yourself. There was a lot of walking through the planet's blank screens, watching my oxygen tick down and really feeling like I was in trouble! The music is great, the text sfx remind me of Celeste.

The first time I booted up there was no sound, but they were there when I played again! You guys did a wonderful job

All Hallow's Harvest by SethPaxton 2019-10-08T16:45:52Z

WOW!! Somehow in the span of a jam with no budget, you made my favorite match 3 game! I'm not usually a fan of the genre but I liked playing yours a whole lot, the music was wonderful and made me want to harvest more spooky pumpkins. Love seeing the other jam games that went with a spookmonth vibe!! You guys nailed it :D

Claimbeer by neowhoru 2019-10-08T17:58:41Z

Your pixel art style is really fun , and for making a metroidvania in a jam, your level design was solid! Making sure you could get the proper items in an order to still be able to explore and find others sounds time consuming, but it paid off. Nice job!

Nill by Jonathan Fischer 2019-10-08T03:26:21Z

WOAH WOAH WOAH, you NAILED the mood! Normally I'm impatient during cutscenes, but your opening was spot on, and really put me in the right vibe to travel through your maze. Speaking of, I also love mazes so this was wonderful. The sound on the nothing box was really satisfying, too. I think I would have loved to have been able to sprint or something, since wrong turns happen in mazes. But, overall, super cool! (Good name too :D)

Wicked Wanderings by Trifectuh 2019-10-08T06:05:30Z

Witchy LDJAM games unite for spookmonth! I really liked this, I'm trying to make a small collection of potion-making games, so it's really nice finding this! I loved the toad at the beginning, and I'm a big fan of collectathons so it was nice to gather everything and then see what I could make. I would say that the 4 clicks to put something in the cauldron is slow, but you know that by now, so well done! I had a good time playing :D

Real-time Gardener by sebastianscaini 2019-10-08T03:49:39Z

Hey, I love your idea and I've been looking for a little fun or cute window game to keep open while I do other things! I want more things like this, it's super cute, and grows much faster than all my other plants x) Reminds me of the old Windows overlay games where you kept a virtual pet

Real-time Gardener by sebastianscaini 2019-10-08T03:50:19Z

Also, it's a lot of fun to come back to it after like 15 minutes, unmute it and hear it's still screaming xD

Tale of the Toad King by Beebo Studios 2019-10-08T03:12:27Z

HEY, I love this, and it's totally not just because I'm obsessed with frogs. I definitely heard a lot of "wait, i think i misremembered" because I kept dying trying to talk to other toads, but this was really great :D

The Firebrand by selkkie 2019-10-11T19:31:20Z

Oh my goodness this game was amazing! I loved you guys' work so much, this really stood out to me as something special. I think this is even one of my favorite narrative games I've played recently. The mood was heavy, the game is so aware of its surroundings, and the characters are so dimensional (and then the story is too?). I can't believe this was a jam game :D Nice job! I'm so inspired, and I hope I can achieve something similar in the future ^ ^ [played if like 5 times and im still looking for the true ending xD I'll get to it someday I hope!]

HEARTSCAPE by ZakAmana 2019-10-08T19:24:00Z

WOW, this game!!! It's polished, the music is great, the art is wonderful, I love the aesthetic so much, and the deck-building is so satisfying. Surrounding my baby hearts with shields to keep them safe! I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the first level, you're an outstanding dev!

WELCOME TO NOTHING by theomaniacal 2019-10-08T04:50:05Z

AHHHHHH I think Screenshot_6.pngthis is one of my favorite LDJAMS so far :D :D :D I made so many somethings!!! I still haven't gotten through something, but I played for like 20 mins straight and I'm determined to make it someday. I love the tone too, and the text, and what sound is there is satisfying. Thank you for making this cute game!

Rainbow cube by Yheeky 2019-10-08T05:21:52Z

I really liked this game! The level design is especially impressive. This level of finesse in rethinking how to solve a puzzle, introduction of a simple mechanic getting more complex, and the timing on getting through all these doors, is! Wow!! You could really get into a flow state with this, and I love the little cube shake, the whole thing has charm! I keep thinking about this as like, a little mobile game where you lead the cube around with your finger. I'd play it for sure!

Det Race by BetelgeuseMan 2019-10-08T17:51:06Z

Haha, I had fun circling the cars over and over like it was some kind of mad max boxing ring match  The art is cool too. Nice job!

Oracle Pine by Swanijam 2019-10-08T16:22:11Z

Wow, thanks everyone! This is my first LDJAM, @swanijam's second, and it's so cool to see people enjoying the game

@sageware Thank you so much, your game rocks! You absolutely beat it right, because there's only one ending xD

@farlandwinter Haha, that's ~~absolutely not a debugging feature~~ supposed to happen, yup

Oracle Pine by Swanijam 2019-10-09T16:54:49Z

Thanks for the critique compliments :D @basically everyone

And @heartclaw I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I'm a horror fan super sensitive to jumpscares so it was nice to make a spooky creepy game without em x)

Memory Palace by MattWagar 2019-10-08T03:07:07Z

Haha, I love this!!!! I also only got 1 point because my memory is awful! I love the style of your icons too, this is hands down my favorite writing game now. Good job guy :D

Sneeter by bubblewandgames 2019-10-08T17:20:35Z

Screenshot_7.png

I can't believe this game, it's so good!! First off, it's adorable, I love games that have you playing on a computer or phone screen, and you nailed it, the colors are great, I loved having a clout stat and playing as a clown. I probably have 7 or 8 screenshots of this on my desktop? This is my favorite interpretation of the theme, too! You guys did a really great job!

Last Goodbyes by chawls_v 2019-10-09T03:24:40Z

Thank you so much for making this! I loved your story, and talking with everyone, you made a wonderful and soothing piece about those last goodbyes

Split or Steal by Monish Vyas 2019-10-08T06:24:25Z

Nicee! This is some solid colorful vector art with style, and the characters with their wonky weird sound bytes, and the small prisoner's dilemma problems were fun! Really liked playing, this game has a lot of charm

Paint a Solar System by Jayometric 2019-10-08T03:34:18Z

Hey wow! I would love to paint my own solar system, thank you very much. I got stuck in some of the painting screens, but overall, I really love this idea, and I had fun going to town and drawing and making (tons) of stardust. I can't believe you basically made a small art program, I like it a lot :D

Dormancy by vfewa 2019-10-08T05:29:29Z

Nice music choice!

It can be tough to get a jam game completely where you wanted it to be, but I liked the idea behind this one! Just panning around the environment and putting down houses was also very pleasant

Sluggish Grind by Catusfelony 2019-10-08T04:26:41Z

I didn't know tonight I'd be helping a Deeply Indebted Slug Make 100 Coins Real Quick! What a charming idea. I really love your art style, and I wish I wasn't trash at platforming so I could get further in xD

Emergency Procedures by enderr42 2019-10-08T18:49:10Z

Hey! I liked your sci-fi shields critical, life supports low messages, that whole vibe. I also kept getting stuck against walls though, are they supposed to be sticky? Never got through it bc of that, but I enjoyed playing as your little alien guy! ALSO CONGRATS making your first game! I went back and read this is your first one and wow, kudos to you literally jumping in both feet and doing ludum dare! My first game took longer to make and was absolutely not like this, you did good!

Keep up with fashion by Gustav Andersson 2019-10-08T06:14:03Z

Haha, the secret is, they'll come after you know matter what! Better to wear what you want with wild abandon trying on 4 pairs of pants with an angry mob after you xD

Nice job! I had a lot of fun, just, sprinting around trying clothes on. I really liked the art style too!

DREAMS by Ferdi 2019-10-08T19:38:17Z

This was a great experience! I liked trying to build blocks with my dream pieces, it was cool whenever the next new shape was weird or animated, I really liked the low poly style and the abstract arrangements reminded me of a lot of really weird and wonderful abstract 3d art. When the camera pulls out at the end and you see the other dreamers was also cool! Would be sweet if you could see what their dreams look like or something. Nice job!

VooDoo Jack by Daimen Paquin-Nault 2019-10-08T05:34:13Z

Hey, I really liked the art style! And maybe I'm partial to anything that's even slightly witchy, but I was really charmed by your game! Nice job :D

Return to Nothing by SageWare 2019-10-08T04:18:46Z

This was so enjoyable, and really chilled me out tonight. I loved reading about all your aliens, and the vibe is this unique blend of silly but also really lovely. I liked listening to the music, and your guys' space puns :D And then when I went to play again, it was a whole new universe! Again, great job! Felt like a much lower intensity No Man's Sky with neat lore

Memories of Eleph by Leandroc 2019-10-09T03:03:30Z

This is wonderful, soothing, your color choices and art style go together so well, and each little tidbit that told me more about Elph wasn't just mechanical, it made me appreciate him more! You guys did a great job. (And the animations were very satisfying as well)

Hotel Null by AndrewPatton 2019-10-08T06:07:02Z

Awh, like the above, 404 error. @ me if you fix it though, I want to try and play!

Hotel Null by AndrewPatton 2019-10-08T19:03:40Z

Hey thanks!! So I played, and maybe it's just me, but I couldn't get the objects I picked up to interact with anything? I was pressing the numbers for the slots and clicking, but nothing happened. Let me know if it's just me, or a bug! I was looking around the room and I ~feel~ like I know how to get that closet open.

Also, cool art! Did you use magicavoxel by chance?

FISHWAR by Deoclecio Filho 2019-10-08T05:41:59Z

Would love to play, but same as the above, only a Github link?

Space Beggar by Carlos Lennon 2019-10-08T03:43:01Z

The controls were kind of difficult to get a grasp of, but after playing for a bit, I got more of a hang on them. Nice music!

LD46 — Keep it alive

HYPERHOP: GALACTIC LANCER by Swanijam 2020-05-01T00:41:47Z

Thank you all for the useful feedback and the comments! This was a lot of fun to make, and we're very proud of the submission!! :D Really gets you pumped to make more games.

@thebreakfast, wow Katamari Silver Surfer is a spot on comparison! I'm happy it reminded you of Katamari, that art style is so much fun.

@le-slo it's funny you say that! We prototyped the lasers following you around during the jam, and the idea of moving from galaxy to galaxy was actually where this all started! It was a bit much to make feasible in time, but we've def been talking about how to spice things up mechanically.

@trexxak Thank you so much, that's high praise! I'm sorry it gave you motion sickness though...did it have anything to do with the speed, or the rotating, or was it specifically the camera angles?

HYPERHOP: GALACTIC LANCER by Swanijam 2020-05-13T19:17:37Z

Thank you so much for the praise and critique everyone! And congrats to you guys for doing ludum dare too!

@gavin-camlin that compliment melts my heart, I'm glad you enjoyed it ^ ^ We're def revisiting the camera and the core loop after all the feedback there, lmao. Also, we used lightweight render pipeline!
