Hitboxes aside this game is pretty fun. Look forward to the non-jam version.

Hitboxes aside this game is pretty fun. Look forward to the non-jam version.
Holy moly. Best game I've played so far. Great work, sound and animations especially
Holy art. Nice job!
Fun little game, hilarious title screen
Really like the strategy-game style group-up commands, clever idea, solid execution. Nice work!
The polish on this is really nice. I could see it working well on mobile too. Add some more maps and bird types and get back to me :)
This async multiplayer mechanic is seriously cool. Excellent job!
This was a fun puzzle to play through, wish there were more levels! (also you misspelled "success" on the win-screen just fyi :D)
@illabom So do we! :D
@mortifix thanks! we had plans for more, and the systems in place to do it, but ran out of time. We'll probably get a non-jam version up soon.
@block97 Thanks! The movement of the sacrifices was definitely something we spent some time on. Glad it was noticed :D
@wojciech @kaish Thanks a lot!
@flashviper thanks for the suggestion. We'll be putting up a non-jam version of the game with all the stuff we couldn't get done in time soon I'll make sure this gets included.
@master-gig we actually started the jam with the intent to randomly generate levels like you describe, but ultimately had to settle for just one. Proud of the team for making the pivot and getting the thing finished in time. We're going to keep at it and put up a non-jam version with some cool features soon. Thanks very much for taking the time to play!
@taikuri thanks for playing! we all appreciate it :D
@potatoez sorry to hear that! We went back and forth on whether to call the buttons A and B or Z and X and my aspirations of mobile compatibility landed us on A and B... Then mobile never happened because time. So it goes, first time for everything, etc, we'll surely do better next time :)
@ropedog thanks! we'll definitely be adding features to a non-jam version of the game soon. Our first time working under the time-constraints of the jam made for some serious feature-cutting decisions. Thanks for taking the time to play and rate :D
@johnsensei thanks for playing! We had plans for so much more, including randomly generated levels, powerups, etc but had to cut it down to the essentials to make the deadline. I'm really proud of the team for doing what had to be done to have something to submit, and very much appreciate that you noticed. Thanks again!
Really dig the art style and the minigame style combat. Great job.
Your itch.io page doesn't seem to be published... Just a heads up.
I don't even know what to say about this... 5/5.
So slick, so polished, very impressive.
My cat really likes your game https://imgur.com/a/cf7RGJm Also I never realized how fun it would be to headbutt all the kids I would've been friends with in high school. Thanks for that.
Fun little game you got here. Could use a bit more challenge I think, but I had a good time playing :)
Always good to see more fantasy console games. Nice job, was pleasantly surprised the first time the thunder and lightning started. Nice touch
Nice work! The music and art are great. Some tighter more "puzzly" challenge levels between the larger ones could be a lot of fun if you plan to keep working on the game at all.
Really like the hand drawn asthetic. Nice work!
This is incredible, the music especially. Great job all.
Delightful! Love the music, and it has a dog. Major points right there.
Dope. Almost can't imagine it having all the animations, it's just so funny without.
Def my favorite game of the jam so far. Saved the village... but now there's no one left to live there :(
Cool take on the FTL formula, much more challenging than I expected. Wish there was an easier way to restart after a game over... Good problem to have I guess.
Dig the art style and customization. Little hard to tell what's going on at first but I had fun once I figured it out!
Wow, good on your for making a C64 game. This is awesome.
Easily my favorite entry so far. Very awesome work. Wish I could move the wizard around with WASD and activate spells with 1-4, but everything else is perfect.
A little slow to start, but fun nonetheless! With some more customization of your money machine this could be really really cool. Nice job!
Wow man, this is really great. The puzzles were fun to figure out and all the lil people have great personality. Kudos!
thanks @kivelocity @eggplant891 @vinegarlove for the feedback! glad you all enjoyed it
Thanks for playing @doug-graham I think a bit of tutorial would have been good, but there's only so much time in a weekend. Glad you liked it!
@killscreen +1 for cat puns! @samueldeboni and @no-grapes-games thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback and agree with both of you. We plan on going back to add all the stuff we didn't have time for to sharpen our dev skills for next ime.
Thanks @cppchriscpp and @grllle for playing and for the feedback!
@royalsoup Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. Item balance is something we ran out of time to really dedicate resources to (unfortunately). Shortly before submission we had a brief playtest and could barely finish the game with the most powerful items, so we bumped the difficulty down. We were maybe a bit too heavy handed and I'm sure we would have noticed given more time to test, but that's the way of the jam. Thanks again for taking the time to play and write!
Thanks for playing @miu !
Thanks for the feedback @ryan-brenner ! I love PICO-8, it's such a fun little machine.
@ropedog and @aeveis thank you for the detailed feedback. Very helpful :)
Good job! FYI I had to move the .exe into the data folder to get it to run. But once I did I had a good time. Like the dark aesthetic a lot
Really like that art style, and impressed you had time to get all of this done. Good job!
Getting an OpenAL not found error. Would love to try it though. Is the engine built from scratch?
Super impressive. Had a lot of fun once I got used to the jumping. Also what @maloy said. Way better with a pad.
Very nice. The pseudo-3d looks really great!
Incredible visual style, nice job!
didn't know I need an office runner in my life. turns out I did. Great job guys
The art style and the fast-paced gameplay are great. Quite challenging too, I like it a lot.
Took a minute to figure out what to click on, but once I did I had a fun time with it. Neat idea, I'd like to see what you had in mind to extend it!
Cute game. The dragon sprite especially is super charming. I also very much appreciate the cheat button which I used at the very beginning cause the moles kept giving me worms haha
Very enjoyable :)
Oh to be 62 again...
Nice work. Love the art, sounds, and music. definitely conveys the mood well. Also the little animations when you pick up items are super charming. Nicely polished!
Holy moly where to even begin? This is a very cool concept executed very very well. I would buy a fully realized version of this game with more levels and mechanics. Make it happen please. What you've done in 48 hours here is insanity.
Oof got stuck on level 5. The concept is sound, maybe I'm just too dumb...
The upgrade system is great! you can really feel that you made a difference to your vehicles properties. The sprite doesnt accurately convey what direction you're heading but once I got used to the controls it felt pretty good handling-wise. Nice job!
What a surreal experience. Very cool and innovative use of the theme. I can see a lot of potential in this idea. The platforming was a little rough since the player character is so ...slippery, but I put up with it so that I could see what comes next. Were the missing textures intentional? I kindof hope so because it greatly added to the atmosphere.
So.. is cinematography the right word? Cause whatever that was it was soooo good. Amazing atmosphere, love the movement on the big shrub models, the overall style of this game was just incredible.
Would love to see more levels, especially if some puzzle elements were added. This has serious potential and I hope you expand on it after the jam is over.
@clvp @ostrich I'm so sorry the description said WASD but it should've said arrow keys. Woooops! Been fix, I hope you'll try again :)
@jd-parker thank you very much for the feedback!
@nithin very sorry to hear that. was this in browser or one of the downloads?
@pinosaur I appreciate your honest feedback. Controls were something we wanted to streamline but you know how the jam goes... only so much time. :) thanks for your kind words on the music and art, they're much appreciated.
@fre thanks so much for the detailed feedback. I like the idea of the menus being context sensitive to simplify things. It's also possible to double-click an item to carry it (neglected to update the description on itch with this info) but I agree its still a little cumbersome. Something to fix when we go back to play with it post-jam!
Thanks again!
@nithin I will test this out in safari and look into it. Thanks for the heads up.
@starblast thanks for your feedback. We are coming to this realization very quickly based on the comments haha. Will probably add WASD support and re-upload shortly. Trying to determine if that falls within the Jam's rules...
@starblast oh good idea. I'll hop in there. Thanks!
@inky @velvetlobster Thanks so much for playing!
@mrabnox thanks for playing and streaming. Appreciate your feedback :)
@carloso thanks so much for playing. We agree with you haha!
@adamcyounis thanks for playing and streaming! We really appreciate the honest and detailed feedback. Got quite a bit of insight from watching you play and comment on it, especially as far as pacing and game structure go.
Thanks again!
@brallex thank you so much!
Thank you so much for playing and taking the time to leave feedback @justcamh glad you enjoyed the wacky potion names :D
@arkinrev thanks for playing! We're well aware of the cumbersome nature of the menus. Something we'll be working on in our post-jam branch of the project. Glad you had a good time despite them :)
@ancient-pixel We would rather not update the currently available version of the game while the rating period is still in effect. Don't know if it's explicitly against the rules but that big of a change in the menus and control scheme would mean you aren't getting an accurate representation of what we were able to complete in the 72 hour timeframe.
Thank you for playing and for you feedback however. We appreciate you giving it a try and taking the time to rate.
@philomory Thank you for the detailed feeedback! Funny you mention wanting to see the prices of the potions before selling, as this is what the interface looks like after some updates:
BM4iJ05.png
We don't feel good about updating the jam version but will post a link to the fixed up and updated one after the rating period has ended. Thanks again for playing!
Super tight! Very atmospheric and conveys the mood well. Had me convinced something awful was always waiting around the corner. I got stuck after following the NPC and couldn't figure out how to get the door open. Sometimes navigating hallways was difficult due to the pitch black. Some flickering lights I think would add even more to the atmosphere and provide players some guidance.
Sick concept. The "minimap" and swappable 1st/3rd person camera was super sleek. Definitely has a decent difficulty curve to it. I haven't figured out a good strategy yet.
Holy moly. My absolute favorite so far. I thought the same as @bubble-boy with the Stanley Parable vibes. Super stylish, innovative and fun. Wonderful game!
Also typing 'git' at the beginning was a pleasant surprise :D
@jjoeyay oof man are you OK?
Once I turned off autocast the game made a little more sense. It seems like there isn't a ton of input required from the player to launch the satellite. I had fun watching the world generate though. Great idea that could bd pretty cool with some more work.
Got stuck on the puzzle with the wires. (manhood?) but I like what I played up to that. Sad story, hope it isn't autobiographical!
Also love that he's still wearing the Adidas hat in his wedding tux.
The color timer is a very cool idea. I think it may have more impact if it started with the whole screen in color and then more rapidly reduced. Its enjoyable to play, though I do think that it moves somewhat slowly for a time-limited game. Overall a solid submission. Would gladly play more levels if there were any :)
@fallingflatstudios good to hear you're considering working on it post-jam. definitely has potential to be a really fun game
Music is amazing. The rolling ball of wolf parts was a funny sight. I expected to turn into a "real" wolf, but an amorphous blob of wolf parts is cool too. I also appreciated the difficulty level. Not too hard, not too easy.
This was a fun experience! The style is very pleasant and cohesive all around, I enjoyed it a lot. Just a heads up on my first attempt I was able to glitch myself out of bounds on this screen:
Annotation 2019-10-08 232826.png
Once I restarted I had a good time solving the puzzles. Very nice work! I think if the timer paused so I had time to actually read the popups that would be nice. As is you kinda have to ignore them because your time is running out so you're too busy trying to get through the puzzles in time to really take in the story. Minor nitpick but figured I'd mention it
This looks cool and I'd love to play it but it seems there's no build available on itch at the moment :(
You get extra humor points for the title screen animation haha
In seriousness, I like the pacing and the moodiness of the game. Using lighting like this is a clever way to make simple (or nonexistent) textures look much more exciting and atmospheric. I think some work could be done in the realm of ambient sound effects. but the minotaur sounds definitely gave me a scare the first time I heard them.
Nice job!
Like @flipsy above I got stuck in the library loop. However ignoring that the art is absolutely fantastic, and the story/dialog was fun to click through up the that point. Will come back to this after I rate some more games to see if I can find my way past the library thing.
Nice job considering what I've seen so far!
Frijole best boyyo. This was really fun. Love the music. Wish there weren't so many sawblades around to hurt Frijole when I screw up :(
The rope physics on the balloon string was a nice unnexpected surprise. Really makes the game feel thought out and fair, even though its quite difficult. Nice entry overall :)
A fun well-scoped game. Was fun seeing what new twist you'd put on the format with each level. Great work
This is super fun. I could see people making some really crazy stuff with a level editor *hint hint*. Huge fan of the sound effects as well. Nice job
Can I get a version of this that's just a little dude who chills on my desktop and plants trees for himself? Awesome work. Super clever game and nice art/sound on top of the novel desktop interaction.
Really like at the effects. Would be cool to see how wacky they could get given more time. The game also has a great sense of style. Nice work!
Yall wanna leave some 5star categories for the rest of us pls?
This is some serious polish for a jam game, and was fun to play and learn the strategy to get through each level to boot. Love the random cards for actions as well. Did something similar in my own game.
Great great job
Really like the music, and the element-combination combat system. There's also a ton of content here. Great entry!
Jamming super hard on the tunes. And kudos for making a rhythm game for the jam. I had a fun time clicking monsters to the beat. Do wish there was a bit more feedback when you're play on beat though.
Nice work!
Really digging the tunes and the artwork. Also the room moving around as the camera pans makes for a very cool comic book panel style effect that I appreciate
@sarahfrisk thanks so much for playing! Especially multiple times. Wanted to have a better more gradual tutorial but game-jam time constraints and all...
Thanks again!
@bklolo Thanks for playing! The fact that you played more than one means so much :)
@ryan123rudder Thanks a ton!
@aspect11 I actually wanted the AI to be more reactive, but it would probably end up way too hard with the 2/3 turn format. I wanted games to be rather short with a 15 turn limit, but will most likely do something about the AI after the jam.
Anyways thanks so much for playing!
@ukumeme That disappearing card issue is interesting. I hadn't seen it while testing and would love more info. I do agree graphically. I'd planned to learn how shaders work so I could give the game a cool H A C K E R M A N CRT filter or something, but ran out of time to do so. I am also very happy with how the music turned out and I'm glad you liked it.
Thanks so much for playing!
@kosmo Glad to hear there was a bit of challenge. balancing difficulty vs play-time is tough in these jams so I'm happy you at least had to think a bit :D
Thanks for the kind words on the music and sfx too. Was fun to make.
Had a hard time coming up with a game under the theme early on and just went with the first thing I thought of, but I totally get that its not as *on-theme* as it could be.
Thanks again for playing!
@scharma Thanks so much for playing! Glad you had a good/challenging experience :)
@ukumeme Thanks for taking the time to make a video. Will look into this for sure
@scott-redrup thanks a lot for playing, and congrats on the win. If it gave you at least a bit of a challenge then I'm happy. Glad you had a good time
@lihpten thanks for playing! And thanks for the bug report. Will definitely look into it
@herrybiscuit Toying with the idea of a more symmetrial 2 player version...
@terribletriojoe thanks for playing! Glad you had fun (and a bit of a challenge)
@defectivemelon thanks so much! Glad you had a nice balanced round. Given the random nature it can be a bit... mean (or downright impossible lol)
@slotha liked it enough for 3 whole comments eh? ;) Thanks so much for playing. Really happy you had a good time with it.
@scubes-3-14 I actually mostly agree with you. Came down to sinking time into making the AI smarter to create a challenge with a symmetrical format, or allowing the AI to play kindof randomly and creating challenge another way. Ran out of time for option number one, so option number two was the choice. I'm happy with how it turned out.
I'm toying with a multiplayer symmetrical version though. I think that could be really fun. Thanks so much for playing and taking the time to leave feedback!
@meelo thanks a ton for the detailed feedback. It makes me very happy that you made that realization about not removing cards. It's a strategy I've watched a couple of people organically discover and it feels great every time.
I do think I agree that there may be too much to pay attention to, or too many random variables. Things like your suggestions for smaller hand sizes, symmetrical multiplayer mode, or preset decks with certain numbers of certain cards are all things I'll be looking into after a little break from staring at the code :)
Thanks again!
@scubes-3-14 @meelo stepping away from the computer for the night, but will play and rate your games tomorrow. Thanks again for playing
@hypermania thanks so much! I ***also*** wish the opponent was smarter. But then they wouldn't get to play 3 cards while you only have 2 ;) Glad you enjoyed it.
@mao Thanks for playing! I'm glad you found a bit of challenge along with your victory. The music was one of my favorite parts of the jam: Finally stop staring at code for a few hours and just make *sound* happen
@aj-jones Still working on pinpointing that particular issue. Glad you had a good time regardless, thanks!
@michael-wingfield thanks so much for playing, glad you had a good time :) I wish I'd had more time to pretty things up, make it more hackery and computery and alieny, so fully agree with you on the presentation. Happy overall with how it came out tho.
I'll give your game a play later tonight or tomorrow! Thanks again!
@g-a-gamestudio hey thanks a bunch! I'd be curious to know what bugs if you remember off the top of your head. I do agree that 15 turns is a little quick, but maybe too long would be worse?
Appreciate your input a ton! I'll give your game a play tonight or tomorrow
@g-a-gamestudio Thanks for getting back to me with that report. I think a few people have had that happen. Still trying to replicate it but I'll figure it out eventually. Glad it didn't ruin your experience.
@disperse Hey glad you had fun! Given more time there would've been way more of a tutorial, so I'm glad you were able to figure it out and start strategizing. Thanks so much for playing. I'll give you a rate/comment tomorrow :)
@sky-fighter thanks for sticking with it. Glad you had a good time!
@fabighindaru thanks so much :)
@monkeydvrus Appreciate you playing. Thanks a ton :)
@willypa Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@whiteseraph Hey thanks for the thoughtful comments, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I have seen the immediate lane-loss in a few of my test games. Have a few ideas on how to make it a less frequent occurrence.
And I'd love to submit to compo one of these days. Lost all of Saturday during this one so wasn't really a possibility this time.
Thanks again :)
@adamv consider going pro in the MWC (Midwest Connection) circuit. We pay out millions in prizes and I'm definitely joking.
Glad you had a good time. If you have any questions about the specific rules of the game let me know. Cramped for time at the end of the jam and didn't get the tutorial in that I wanted to include.
@thedecider Thanks dude! Hopefully we're not on lockdown in October so we can team up on the next one.
@cataclysmicknight Thank you so much for your comments, both here and on itch. Glad you had a good time!
@epicload Thanks for playing!
@cataclysmicknight there may or may not be a multiplayer version in the works ;)
Love the artwork and the voiceover. Straightforward but effective interpretation of the theme. Nice job!
This brings on some serious Desert Golf vibes, plus flinging a fish around from pond to pond is super fun. Great job. My only minor complaint is that the velocity felt inconsistent between jumps, but that probably just comes down to some finicky physics nonsense. Easily overlooked since the game itself is fun :)
Dig the style, and it was fun to play, nice job. I wish the shots had more impact when you get a hit, but overall it feels very good. I could see some fun powerups or different weapons adding some variety if you choose to continue working on it
Holy hell this is so fun. Took a second to figure out that time slowed down when you hold down the mouse button, but once i figured that out and started launching that fish around it was a blast. I suck at your game still but I had a great time playing it. Nice job!
Hey this was fun. The void was a nice touch especially. Great job
This was a fantastic experience. The writing and artwork is great. I loved getting to use the items gained along the way. Makes the game feel very complete and thought out. Nice work!
(played great on my phone also btw)
Charming as usual. Loved your past two LD games and this one is right there with them. Bout to fire up the N64 now and get my Ocarina of Time on so thanks for that. Great entry!
Finished it! https://imgur.com/a/2tNgcDC This was so great. The art is awesome, the story is ...disturbing in a good way? But also I hope it isn't too autobiographical :(
FYI the tiny-text issue in browsers can be remedied by zooming the page with your browser. Soon as the zoom level changes the dialog boxes pop into place. (at least on chrome)
The presentation, mood, and music are freakin perfect in this. A bit long but I very much enjoyed it. Could make for a great mobile game *hint hint*
The consistent style makes this game feel nice and complete. Coupled with the dark humor this was a very enjoyable experience. Nice work!
This is stupid good. Art and *music* especially but it's also a healthy challenge and was fun to play through. Great job
This is very cool. Nice job doing everything from scratch and for finishing your first jam game. It's pretty fun, would like to more levels/mechanics!
Dig the pixel art and the concept. The skill tree abilities seem like they make a real difference which was cool to see. Nice work! Fun game
Hilarious. Great job guys. Feel so bad for fish :(
This is great fun! I'm gonna have to come back later to finish it as its quite challenging. I think tightening up the hurt/hitboxes for the player and enemies, as well as keeping the player grounded when going over a slope, would help even out the difficulty without having to change the levels at all. Awesome job.
Holy horror, nailed it with the mood/art/music. Was a very atmospheric experience. Awesome awesome job for a first jam. You should definitely expand on this game post-jam!
Nice to see another Godot game. This was a fun little story. I think with some more interaction around the room you could turn this into something pretty engaging. Nice job
Hey this was pretty cool, nice work. Would love to see this with more polished visuals, definitely worth continuing post-jam
Quite charming. I wish the player character controlled a bit more precisely, but overall it felt good and the puzzles were fun. Nice job!
Dig the music and the tri-pedal creature design. The lock-on when aiming near a citizen was a nice touch. Makes the controls feel very polished. Nice work!
Challenging till you get an idea what's going to send you to a game over and not, but fun to poke around and figure out. Like the addition of the crypto market, lots of nice little touches in here. Good work!
Pretty funny concept. Took a sec to get used to the controls, but had a good time once I did. Poor baby I'm sorry I couldn't save you
Nailing a long range shot to get that last pump going just before the water runs out is one of the best moments I've had in a game this jam. Really well done
Super art style and audio. Some of the banter is really funny. Some hard cringes in there too haha, nice job, I really enjoyed this.
Wow, for a first attempt at three different things this came out great. I think it could be a bit more challenging earlier on, but it's a complete package and feels good to play. Nice job!
This was fun! Had to play a few times before I got a handle on how to balance everything and stopped getting *consumed* for not feeding enough. Like the art as well. The color choices and pixel-art icons fit the mood strangely well.
Scored 340 after a few tries. Game's fun. Took a second to realize I could hold spacebar down to change the angle of the shot. Love the sound effects. Feel like it could use a time-limited mode or some moving targets to add to the hectic experience of launching ballz in a crowded parking lot, but its plenty fun on its own. Nice job
Hey this is pretty fun. My controller didn't work sadly which i feel like would've felt more natural (DualSense) but seems perfectly fine on keyboard. Car handles well overall and while I understand that it needs to stop fast to keep players from constantly falling off I think you could've gotten away with sliiiiightly more momentum after letting up on the gas, to make coasting while turning feel better.
That said, it looks great and is fun to play. I played probably 10 or so rounds after I started typing this just trying to beat my scores, which is always a good sign. Well done
@halvardo13 Thanks for playing!
@jack728 haha I just found this bug also. Woops! Glad you had a good time anyways! Thanks for playing!
@onsson great suggestion. Wish I’d had time to do more with weapon/enemy variety :)
@fredspipa thanks so much for the kind words
@kefei-tong thanks so much for playing!
@thebmxeur Thanks so much for the feedback and thanks for playing!
@garyninja @elmoeinstein Thanks so much for rating and playing!
@falestress @andrei-gusan @deltamain I'm seeing this difficulty feedback a lot. Definitely noted for future entries. Thanks for taking the time to comment
@jcmonkey well thats unfortunate! @nick-baggett thanks for playing, and nice job again on ROCKOUT @shidygames it seems a few people are finding that you can toss your guns off the stage if you pick one up while facing the edge of the screen. Woops!
Love seeing multiplayer games as Jam entries. Ditto PICO-8 ones. The keyboard controls are a bit twister-like on a a QWERTY keyboard with Z/X right under player 2's movement keys though. That said it's quite satisfying to gravity-attract the opposing player's platform away and watch them plummet to their death while they panic-move the cursor trying to save themselves. Nice entry :)
Really great entry. Art style is pleasant and cohesive (tho some animations on the soldier/worker sprites would be neat) and it ramps up in difficulty and urgency well as things progress. Being able to start strategizing things like barrack placement so you dont have to manually control the soldiers later is a cool feature. I dig it
I am gonna say that this game makes me angry.
I've been working on a 1v1 multiplayer ability-based shooter for the better part of two years, and ya'll just went and knocked one out in a weekend.
Jerks.
Joking aside this is very very cool. Congrats on a solid entry. Art, music, UI, the fact that matchmaking actually works and the online feels decent... Knocked it out of the park
This is really really great. I'm quite curious to know how the scoring works. Seems like a nightmare to program a system to figure out what the player is trying to say but it seems to work well as sentences that make sense and/or have the right convincing words in them seem to score better consistently. Very neat.
First playthrough ended abruptly right after the first boss debate. I think maybe I clicked skip on accident and was supposed to do something with my new expanded slots? Next one went fine until my ego was shattered by poor word choices.
Very fun, great entry. Looks good, plays well aside from the aforementioned bug, and has me 'intrigue' as to how it works under the hood. Probabaly gonna go poke around the repo and find out
I love the look of this thing. It's got a nice juiciness to it thanks to the visual effects and the satisfying hit-sound. That said I really wish it was multiplayer, or had an AI duck to honk back at me. Played to like 35 points and didn't get any sort of win-condition, but maybe I just didn't honk at it long enough. Great job game-feel-wise regardless
Took a few tries but I have defeated Greg The Evil Robot
Game's fun! Looks good, controls well, dig the music and sfx. Aiming felt a little weird until i started doing all my shooting while jumping. The pushback mechanic on charged shots makes it scary to try to overcharge without a couple squares to slide into, which adds to the challenge nicely.
Great entry!
Big fan of the art and background music. Looking at the options I decided to make for the surface right away and spread myself way too thin the first playthrough haha. Second go around I kept things more compact and had a pretty decent little economy going. Nice chill entry. Good job. Didn't quite get to unlocking Obama though...
@elmoeinstein well its still a fun goofy thing to see in a game about ants so
Guess I'll just echo what @imontheweb said, holy moly ya'll nailed it. The high score ranking is a great touch that had me wanting to play again after each defeat. Very well done
Had fun with this one. really like the art style and the music, and its fairly challenging with lots of levels for a jam entry. Nice work!
Dunno if its intentional that enemy projectiles can pass through walls while yours cannot, but that was really the only gripe I had playing through it
This was really neat and chill. Took around 10 tumbles to get the top. The thing you get once you get there is a nice touch (won't spoil it here). The shrinking mechanic makes certain jumps a little wonky (getting pushed off your trajectory by the changing environment), but mostly just took getting used to. One other critique is that a little bit of coyote-time would go a long way toward making it feel fair. The jump timing can be a bit punishing as-is, but nothing insurmountable.
The background music and fog makes for a nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed it.
P.S. the music doesn't seem to loop after a while
Funny how similar our games ended up being despite different engines and ideas. I had fun with this. Decent challenge and a nice amount of PICO-8 juice. Always nice to come across pico-8 games in LDJam
This is pretty cool. really like the look and the simple backing tune. I played through 3 times, couldn't beat itm but I'm gonna choose to believe it is possible to do so haha
Agree with the other comment about the slimes needing more a reason to fight them, but overall very well done
