Hmm the game is freezing for me when I click Start with the mouse.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm working on an updated build with new collision, and wall climbing, and bots, and different gameplay modes.
This game is really great! Played through twice. The strategy gets pretty interesting! The animations and FX really sell it.
really cool concept! I also had the same issue as @triplefox . I found myself wandering around empty hallways reading death messages, which was amusing. You could probably respawn enemies and make the game about pushing forward to unlock doors. Maybe players could unlock portals to let their successors move ahead further.
I also made an async multiplayer game, so it's cool to see others taking on the concept. There's a fascinating quality in interacting with other players without actually seeing them.
really nice old school vibe! i could totally see myself playing this while sneaking onto the pc of the older sibling of a friend while he's out doing older kid things. nostalgia++
funnily when I clicked on your game I thought the name was "Sacrifractions" and that there'd be some kind of math involved. I was not disappointed to discover I was wrong.
@trash @mmason I just posted an update that should prevent crashing when sync fails, instead you get a timeout message and can refresh the game. I'm not super sure why the sync fails. I might try using a different host just to see if the problem persists!
@trifectuh thanks!
@sadsmile thanks so much! About your ideas: - what would the login cooldown do? just prevent players from playing both sides? - spending coins on more stuff would be cool. Maybe even traps and monsters. You can destroy objects right now by pressing F again after sacrifice, but it only takes one object at a time.
@d3vil0p3r I recently pushed an update that hopefully fixes some sync some problems. I also received notice from the server that I had been blocked temporarily for too many requests, but it seems to be resolved now. Try it again!
@popdaddygames thanks so much! It was a satisfying challenge to get that multiplayer working. I hope to do more stuff with what I learned making this project.
@pancakefriday Awesome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, but uh... GO BLUE!
@mmason Thanks so much for playing! Yeah it'd be interesting to have some kind of "rounds" and "matches" taking place in the game to tally a victory at some point. Maybe if I update the game again. Right now I think I'll probably just declare a winner when voting is over. Upgrades and more building options would be awesome. I was working to implement the multiplayer right up til the deadline, so there are a lot of ideas and features I didn't get to implement. I just tried to focus on what I had written down.
@nanda Thank you!! Check in again and make sure your god takes victory in the final moments! I think I'll tally the score at the end of voting.
@beardmage you can blame the other players for the level design haha. Every object in the game has been placed by another player.
@alext-design thanks for playing! But yeah, the idea is that each player is building stuff in the world. If you press F you Sacrifice yourself which opens a build menu.
@shakedimus Thanks for checking it out! yeah as the world filled in it became pretty impossible to have any influence in your sacrifices, so less fun. I think if I had found some way to set up rounds, or modify the world in more interesting ways it could have a longer lifespan, but as it is you're dealing with routes and paths and traps that other players built ages ago in a time of plenty.
Great sense of atmosphere. I was a little mystified as to what I was trying to accomplish other than picking up branches and feeding the fire. I wandered for a bit, then I died, and the game told me I wasn't good enough, so I took it at its word. Definitely sells the vibe of being cold and miserable. Hints of Jack London "To Build a Fire". I was sort of musing to myself that the "sacrifice" would be my thumbs that I lose to frostbite as I try to to survival stuff.
Great take on the theme. There's a surprising amount of depth in the puzzling.
nicely executed short form experience. I'm pretty sure I got through the whole thing, as the music started to loop. There were some really interesting visuals going on, i'd like to see more.
This was a really chill experience! I got consumed by the black hole. I think I may have been flying toward it, instead of my goal without realizing. The bird movement is really nice and smooth even on my laptop trackpad.
Pretty classy lookin lil puzzle game. I had a bit of trouble understanding which direction fans were going to blow making repeat plays feel kind of inconsistent. ( I also ended on the "not impossible" level :D )
Really nice entry! Took me a few rounds to get the hang of it. Lasted until wave 29, but by then I was just desperately trying to recruit people for the sacrificial altar
Oooh I'm diggin this one. The world seems really interesting I could see it being expanded on quite a bit. I did get a little crash while i was playing. I think one of the monsters off screen was trying to shoot projectiles at me: `Variable oEnemyChaserFast.hit(100274, -2147483648) not set before reading it.`
`at gml_Object_oEnemyChaser_Step_0`
@warren @coderaurus @namnam - thanks for the feedback! i did some tweaks in an updated build to the game to improve the sense of control over the pivot gun. You can now pull it around a lot easier, which can launch you into the air. The player bullets push the enemies more, and the grapple length is longer. I think it's significantly easier now. Though I could probably keep tweaking it foreverrrrr @adrian-guevara thanks!
haha i think i only succeeded in lighting the place on fire, but i loved it.
niice pacing. Fun and frenetic. Getting squashed by those robos really gets me. Makes me want a faster restart so I can just keep hammering at it like hotline miami
nice cute concept. I found I couldn't grab one of the papers too high up on a shelf. I sat there jumping at it to no avail.
Nice I really enjoyed this. I couldn't tell if i was running in circles, but i think it was, which is really cool. I could see changing up the path in surprising ways. Like, after i get used to making the same turn a few times, suddenly i find it blocked. Also I would have liked some more awareness of the flame encroaching from behind. Anyway I really enjoyed it. Also: Unite with me Hell-Brother! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/baseball-in-hell
i actually kind of enjoy this idea. i wish it was more
Super cool. I want to see some kind of adventure game in this world.
This game is real classy. I suck at it.
This is pretty fun. Kind of makes me think of a warioware game. I'd like to see more daydreams mixed with more mundane tasks. I being in an office meeting, and gesturing or offering platitudes in time to the boss's statements. I should try failing the game to see if you get fired...
haha what on earth... i love the chaos, whatever it is.
Wow I just looked at your backlog of previous entries and i have to ask: How many times have you remade this game?!? It feels like you've got something much bigger in mind. Some day i'd love to see it fully realized.
I like this concept a lot! I wish I could deflect incoming balls back at the opponents with RMB.
Yeah this was great. Really nice look to it. Stressful typing action. Made me feel cool for typing fast like I always knew I was.
This was pretty fun! One of the better realized games on this concept, i think.
This was fun! Nice and smooth mechanics. Made me feel pretty good about my typing skill until i died.
I did it! I saved another sinner! Very interesting premise, and real nice presentation. Made me think of a scene from City of the Lost Children where this guy plugs what he sees into another man's eye's while he's murdering him--- kinda that but reversed. While I was playing I started to hope that the gameplay would be to Look in specific directions to manipulate the killer toward objects that might somehow enable your escape, or that I might need to do certain things to keep the victim alive, but as just a brief experience it's pretty cool.
Yeah! I love the little devils clinging to the saw blades, and that music loop. Not sure how it fits the theme of the jam, but it's nice to see another not-so-cute game out there.
classy little puzzle game. Reminds me how bad I am at chess and forward thinking.
@gno-evenimente any chance you could paste that error?
@gno-evenimente aha thanks! I think that means you don't have DirectX runtimes installed? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35 or https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429 if you want to grab them. Or I should probably add some kind of check in the game before enabling shaders. Though if i did that you'd miss out on all the glitchy effects that add that nice cheap and quick layer of texture to the game. Hmm.
Thank you for the feedback! if anyone beats it take a screenshot-- There is an ending.
@kr4ft3r "safe" is a loose concept in hell ;) -- also @jonathan-daar if you press Ctrl or Shift you will Slide into base which helps stick you to it.
@legavroche yeah it ended up a bit darker than I originally intended. I lightened up the sky a bit in an updated build.
@saoi-games i haven't heard of that issue before. Other streamers have run it fine. I record my videos of it in OBS. What is your screen resolution? Maybe there's an issue there.
The mechanics in this game are really nicely polished and fun. It kept me playing for quite a while. But for being musically themed, i really wish there was some more audio to keep driving the pace!
This is cool. I dig the music and tone.
Hehe oh my i have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing, but I liked looking at it. I got 0 points I think. Or else the world reduced to zero, and now I am reflecting on the very concept of "Zero". Ahh. AAaah! Eh?
I was getting very low frame rates while playing, and I'm not sure if this is intentional. I like the music and the visuals.
This was a fun game! (but honestly i'm a huge Claude Van Clam fan so i'm a little biased)
Great look to it. That first time i dove in the water I gave a good chortle. Feels like a good premise that could be expanded upon.
And then I double posted!
Nice concept! I feel like I could really enjoy a full game like this with some more detailed driving action. I got to a point where I just had so much money incoming that I could continually spam towers and enemies couldn't break through, until I just gave up. The style is fun too
I love the title of this game. You've definitely mashed two genres together, but I wish they felt a bit more synchronized. I wanted to see what was going on in the tower defense screen, but I found myself just staring at arrows and the scrolling bar.
I was just thinking, what if they enemies somehow moved based on the duration of the audio track, and you laid out the towers based on where you'd want the "notes" to go. The tower defense board itself could be the entire game. I like this concept though.
Nicely realized concept! I found myself really wanting to quit, but unable to, like many other addictive activities.
Rad vibes. I had a lot of trouble dealing with 3 columns at once. Felt a bit like making ice cream could do without the cone sliding side to side, like make it a quick LMB/RMB thing instead of timing. Make the ice-cream, chuck it.
I liked this game so much. It's very playable. I just like having Hello Conversations with my minions.
This game is wonderful. I love the audio and the humor. I want to see more adventures of Groovy Snake.
I really like the concept of cooking parts of my enemies in a giant stew pot in an FPS. It'd be cool if combining different ingredients from enemy bits output various consumables. Certain combos = Health, Ammo, Weapon upgrades. That could be pretty fun and morbid.
This was really cool. I had a couple wishes: that I could lure bigger fish to eat littler fish, and that the angler's lure looked like a gem, to fool me into grabbing it. I was compelled to collect all of the gems!
Love the vibe of this game. Played through the whole thing. Also I love bubbles: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/q03az
I really enjoyed the tone of this game. Just felt like some vintage arcade game with a high level of difficulty. I was pretty bad at it. I'd like to see someone playing it at master level.
Pretty interesting as a puzzle game! Could see it expanding quite a bit.
Really nicely executed mechanic. The replays are cool to watch. I want to see (steal) all of your code!
Nice look to this. I think I suck at the skating aspect, but I spelled "Quilt" and "Relating" so at least I know how to spell those two words.
This was fantastic. Great atmosphere and sound.
@lizelive yes! There's just a small trick to it that suddenly makes the game is pretty easy. Listen for the audio cues and shake up/down vigourously. Thanks for playing!
good vibes. i do struggle getting the signaling down. the first round i hit it spot on and then i just couldn't find the right timing again.
i like the concept of luring the enemies with your character. that's pretty novel
strangely satisfying. seen a few of these signal matching concepts, but this one feels charming. Like it'd make a good kids toy to get for your friend's kids to drive them insane. love the fractal visuals
