You have something here, wow. What a surprise. Go rate some games so your game can be seen (that's how the rating system works)

Nice work! Puzzles were really well constructed. I got stuck on a level where I couldn't move one of the platforms anymore.

What a neat game! What were the two incompatible themes you chose? The atmosphere reminded me of portal and the gameplay reminded me of Fez. I had to redo the puzzles a few times since the air controls were tricky and moving the boxes made the player clip through the walls which was aggravating. I liked how you could throw the ant and was hoping to see that incorporated as a mechanic. I also liked being able to see the computer screen before entering to make sure I wasn't clipping. Go rate some games to get this viewed! :D

@stardynamic The theme was first person and 2D platformer. Working on playing some games, I just needed to sleep for 2 days first!

I really enjoyed this, it was very well done and was lots of fun. Good Job

I love this concept, this is definitely something I could see being a fully fledged puzzle game. You have a very unique mechanic here. If you can find a cohesive theme to wrap this game in (like the testing chambers of portal) you could have a seriously fantastic game on your hands. Great job guys!

This scored really highly for me - totally unique title that deserves to do well. Make sure you rate rate rate so it gets the praise it deserves!

Nice work! Nice execution on that idea. I don't think I could have expected the mechanics to work so well and the level design to be so solid. I liked the difficulty ramp, the twists on old levels worked well to keep me surprised. Nice work on sounds and music too.

Can't think of much to add here, y'all did real gud

WOW!! This has a TON of potential. The only thing I would say is keep the block from tumbling around while moving. Other than that fantastic job. I'm almost ashamed to put make a shameless plug for our entry... almost https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-typer

That was great! There were a couple of graphic al glitches when in 2d, but for the most part that was excellent. The concept is a great one, sort of combining the puzzle chambers of something like portal with the 2d/3d mechanic of Super Paper Mario, the two of those being some of my favorite games! I had some inconsistency when pushing/pulling blocks, particularly the ones where there's a space to fit in the middle, which got a little frustrating. I accidentally got stuck in sort of a crouching position at one point, but was able to make it out. Maybe if all of those levels were just moved up one layer or something. Well done to everyone involved!

Good stuff! Congrats on finishing! Seems like a complicated game to accomplish in such a short time!

Here's my let's play:

This game needs to be seen! Please, start rating some game, you deserve it!

Awesome concept and graphics. Pretty solid entry!

hatchet 2018-04-27 22:42

wow! this is a really great combination and idea. Very interesting. The graphics and the music are very nice. What an interesting entry!

caleblewis 2018-04-28 00:16

This is a really awesome game, it could use some polish but the concept and existing gameplay are amazing and really fun! You should turn this into a full game with some tighter controls and possibly more of a goal. It could even have a nice co-op mode.

dovakla 2018-04-29 01:47

Wow, this is so impressive! I would love to know how you set up the 2D/3D system. It also has a lot of levels for being made in such a short time. Really pretty graphics too.

Great game!

randomphantom 2018-04-29 04:17

Wow, fantastic idea! Reminds me of Fez. The levels were ramping up at a nice curve as well. Similarly I'm curious on how this was executed, although I presume its adjusting box collisions dynamically, I wonder how dynamic slicing of the boxes would work. Very polished experience too. Great job.

squid 2018-04-29 18:18

@Dovakla @randomphantom It is done by raycasting from the camera back to the back wall and moving the player to the location of the raycast hit. It uses two raycasts in a frame, one under the characters feet and one in the direction the character is moving.

Doing it this way is probably the easiest to code and worked pretty well but comes with a lot of bugs by default. I made the levels so that most of the bugs would not happen but it limited my level design a bit. If I had to do it again I don't think I would do it this way but it seems like most options have there downsides.
