I got frustrated after the vertigo affliction :D Nice idea! It plays well with the theme, and I like how it starts innocently, and then progressively gets hellishly difficult.

I got frustrated after the vertigo affliction :D Nice idea! It plays well with the theme, and I like how it starts innocently, and then progressively gets hellishly difficult.
I stole the triforce! :D I like the graphics, I think the limitations on the palette can actually be a pretty good thing :) The only frustrating bit was perhaps the laser hitboxes. There were times when I was hit by the laser and it didn't seem to touch me. But overall, good idea, and fun entry!
I love that cute DRGN. Great job with all the 3D assets. Settings things on fire is fun. The game is challenging, but not too much. Great job!
Great visuals, and solid mechanics. Love the powerups and fast pacedness. It makes the game really fun!
Nice doggo graphics and idea! It was difficult to get touch on the eggos quickly, perhaps if they were a bit bigger, it would've been easier.
:D This is really fun. Great artwork too!! It feels so satisfying pushing the critters around with wind, and then into the burner :D
Very cool art, and the light/dark tiles effect. Nice progression of difficulty and new mechanics as you reach higher levels. Turn-based crawlers are always fun :)
Very nice visuals. Like the style very much. In these sorts of games I would expect a lot of movement with momentum, but it's opposite here, because you have to stop and think, which makes it interesting and hard.
The graphics and the style set a nice mood. I had a little bit trouble understand the objective at first, but by walking around that problem went away :) The enemies could perhaps be moving in a more controlled manner, so that you can adapt and avoid them more easily. Perhaps being able to outrun them once you're in their sight would also help. Overall, nice game!
haha I love that little sprite :D The dashing feels good, and the game is fun overall. Visuals are great, and the sound effects and music are spot on.
Really nice visuals. Love the leaf falling effect and animation. And great job on the procedural generation of the map. The game does get a little bit repetitive, but the story makes up for it.
I'm so bad at this game :D It's really fun (and frustrating :D). The graphics are simple but sufficient, and it overall fits the theme nicely. Love that the sound effects and inspiration came from your own chickens! :D
Interesting endless runner :) The sprites and background graphics are good! Perhaps a more consistent style with the menus as was mentioned before would be good, but it's not that important.
the voiceover was funny! :) the graphics are solid for a 3D game, though the fonts and placement of texts and scores seem a little out of place, and the throwing mechanic coupled with the voiceover was entertaining. My camera was going crazy, but that might be just because I'm playing on linux, or my mouse sensitivity is too high.
Nice graphics! I like the variety of enemies, but they can be very hard to kill or avoid. At first I was annoyed by all the popups but then I remembered the theme :) Nice!
Really solid graphics, and good mechanics. I would've preferred arrows or wasd movement, since LMB to move doesn't offer as much precision. Overall, it's fun and fits the theme!
The controls are really solid, despite the bugs! Better than some platformers I've seen here :) Great for a first-time entry! Keep practicing!
Nice and cute visuals! The poop sure does pile up quickly :D good use of the theme!
Very nice visuals! Good use of the theme. I had a similar idea but didn't go with it in the end. Glad to see someone did though :)
Great work on the graphics and gameplay. I would perhaps only make the grass tiles less repetitive, and the interaction animation skippable (for example, when you try to move again, that it stops). I killed everything on my way to the boss :D because I wasn't sure if I can interact with them or not. I felt a little bad :D Great entry, overall!
:O That art! It's so amazing! Love that nightly palette, and the little details on the buildings. The game is very relaxing, and building stuff is super fun. I love these kinds of games. Reminded me of Age of Mythology. The interface is also super clean and easy to understand. I would only like to see the towers shooting stuff at the rats, but I understand there isn't that much time to do all of that :) And perhaps a more obvious indicator of when the night is coming, since I very rarely looked at the clock in the corner. But that is perhaps because I was too focused on the game :D
Overall, super fun, and super visually pleasing entry! With more features and polish, I can see this becoming a really great game! Great job!
Very fun game! Nice graphics and use of the theme. At first I didn't notice the transformation, because I was so into killing zombies :D Great ending too.
The thing I tried to do was skip the zombies so that I get less negative effects from killing them, but it seems you have to kill them all to trigger the boss fight, if I got it right. It would be cool if you could gauge how many of the zombies to kill so that you can actually progress, and how many to skip, so that you preserve your power. Either way, good job!
The dragon and the imp look great! I don't know if it's just me, but there was just one imp on the screen the whole time and I couldn't deal any damage to him :/
Excellent game! I love all the visuals, from letters to tiles to mummies. Audio effects and music are spot on. And the puzzles, although short, are great. Short and sweet :) The gameplay is very refreshing and innovative. Once you get used to the movement scheme, it's so goood! :D With a little bit of polish (some ending scene, death animation...) and more levels, this game could be really really good! Amazing entry! :D
Really great visuals and mood! The controls felt a bit weird for me, so I had some trouble shooting the enemies accurately. Good concept overall!
@mathiouza Thanks! Totally agree about the music :/ Unfortunately I didn't have time to learn any of the music making tools so decided to go without it.
@epb9000 Thanks! Yep, the pacing is a bit slow, but it was hard to get right in the short amount of time. I'm glad you endured all the way to the ending though! :D Also, thanks for letting me know about the bug! And for Krita, I think I used just the 1-pixel brush for the most part. And I zoomed really hard :D
@michael-feldman Aw thanks a lot! :)
Fantastic art! Love the idea and the mechanics. I'm bad at minesweeper so I was bad at this too :D but nonetheless it was fun! Very detailed and thought out.
I love the visuals and style of the main game area, and the mechanics, very fun. Especially the slow motion one. Really nicely done. The intro feels a bit out of place, but that's not that important.
The game looks pretty good, and the enemy attacks are nicely executed. What I didn't catch right away was the purpose of the green lines. Perhaps a clear indicator of some sorts that they heal you would help. The bullets are pretty small so it's sometimes very hard to hit an enemy. The game overall fits the theme okay.
Simple but effective graphics, nice choice of colors. I like the use of the theme, but perhaps some clear end goal for the player would be good. Audio was, as you said, too fast, but I understand there isn't much time to tweak/fix everything :)
Nice mechanics and idea! There is potential here. If you could see the planes and hills coming from a little bit farther away, that would be great, since you would have more time to maneuver and shoot.
Awesome art! I love the enemies. The AI could perhaps use some work, but I understand it's hard to tweak it in the little time you had. The sound effects are great and the music is cool, there's just a small bug when you die, the game music overlaps with the death music. Otherwise, good work!
WOw that's a pretty dope artwork and animations you have there! I would just choose some other color for the fonts, or maybe have them against a dark background ... wait, is that Dave I see at the party? :D This is an interesting entry! :D
I loooove it! The art is very cute. The puzzles are nice. As someone has mentioned, grid movement would be nice, but I know myself that it can be a bit tricky to implement that in Unity, and besides it's not a big deal, the game was enjoyable without it. One minor graphical thing I would point out is the scrolling background. At times it seemed as if it's a part of the main island. Perhaps make things more blue-y in the background, as if to make them appear more distant? But that's a really minor thing.
I loved the rejuvenation effect of the islands, and the little victory dance. The in-between level overworld transition was also a very nice touch. Very reminiscent of old games. Great job, everyone! <3
Wooaah those are some crazy physics! :D I love the art too. Really nice and full of style.
Nice music, I like the mood. The controls can be a bit confusing, but good work nonetheless.
I'm a sucker for everything gameboy styled, so you have a <3 from me
Oh man when I saw that PS1 Memory Card aesthetic I thought someone had a similar idea of making a game about running out of space on a Memory Card :) But this is pretty cool too. Creepy mood. I love it. My biggest problem would be falling down, because I can't see all that well where to jump, or better to say, I don't have much time to react to the death traps below. Other than that, good job!
@fakefirefly Thanks for playing and commenting! :) The list of deeds are randomly generated and sometimes they won't have a description, but for some of them like "Killed a man", yes, I agree, perhaps always having a description would be better.
@raivk Thank you! :) :dove:
@mediyaz thanks dawg! :D
@zuhairghias hahah :D random generator at its best!
@nuriko55 Thanks! Yep, Papers, Please was one of the inspirations!
@monetai Hmm hmm it might be difficult to get the third one if you don't know what it is, but basically, it will happen if you reject too many good souls.
@eptwalabha Thanks! :dove:
@yashmakesgames Hey, thanks for the feedback! As you mentioned, I was going more for of an "experience" than "fun" in a traditional sense. The only feedback for your choices (as you're making them) is the voice telling you if you chose well or not, but yes, there's definitively more room there for immediate consequences and feedback for the player.
Great incorporation of the theme into the game mechanics! I liked the background arts and our cool owl hero character, but perhaps some enemies could use improvements. The game controls nicely. Sounds and music fit well. It's funny how his crossbow flips upside down when turning :D I suppose the game thinks the angle of the bow has moved by 180 degrees or something like that? Anyways, great work everyone!
Woah I can only imagine the effort you two put into this. I loved the music too, fits the mood perfectly. For using Unity first time, this is really well done.
This was quite fun! The visuals are pretty and killing enemies is very satisfying. Nice work on all the effects and the game overall!
Haha this game is brutal :D You really did a good job with the graphics and gameplay in such a short time. Also I managed to jump over the Incoming Wall of Doom :D
I have to say those are some funny sounds our hero is making :D
This was very cool! The character looks good and jumps well. Being able to wall jump makes it definitively easier to make some jumps. Perhaps some interesting background is missing, just something to keep the eye interested. Also, Altair is a cool name, so bonus points for that! :D
This looks and plays awesome! I've had a lot of fun! I like this interpretation of the theme :D
Collecting letters felt satisfying. You choose nice colors for the art in my opinion, the only thing missing perhaps was character animation. And a bit clearer sense of progress. Good work!
Simple, but very nice for a first game jam! :) Fitting to the theme. Also great job on squeezing in two modes of play and AI!
Oh man I love these gameboy aesthetics! The SFX of the movement and rocks exploding is also very satisfying!
Wow, this looks so nice! Very satisfying SFX as well :)
This is super nice for your first ever game jam! Good job everyone.
I'm always stunned how people can make their games look so visually amazing in such a short period of time. Great work everyone!
I see crow, I click. But seriously, this was really cool. The mood you've set with the beautiful art, the sound of the wind and music is something else. I didn't want to leave the title screen for it alone :D It was sad seeing my crow get hurt, but it added further moodiness and this very fitting feeling like everything's against you :)
@luca1152
Thanks so much! The gold things... well, uh... you can collect them! And hear a rewarding sound every time you do that! (I had to cut the features surrounding the gold thingies due to not having enough time :D)
Ah yes, Pixel Dungeon, upon googling it, I remembered I have played it briefly some time ago. If I were to make this a full game, I'd go for that same random dungeon floor generation and items as well (that was originally the plan here, but I had to cut that as well, and just settle for static content).
@recyx
Thanks! :) Don't give up on your pixel arts! If you practice enough, you can learn anything :)
@nanda
Thanks! :D There's also an easter egg (if I can call it that), but I'm not sure if it's going to register on everyone's computers, when you sacrifice only one ear, the audio switches to either the left or the right speaker only :)
Cool, I'll check your game out as well! :)
I gotta say, I love this :D The music is so great and funky and makes me want to save all the doggos from their doom. (Was the music by any chance inspired at all by the annoying dog song from Undertale? :D) The level designs are also very clever! Excellent entry!
Beautiful background and sprite art! :0 I like the mix of the themes here! It was a bit difficult to do precise movement, especially with the dash, but aside from that, it is a fun entry!
this combination actually works :D beautiful pixel art, I really enjoy your style and color choices. Music follows the rhythm of the game nicely, and planting strawberries, killing enemies, and even walking around is really satisfying. I would only say that the camera moves around a bit too quickly for me, and could benefit from some smoothing and tweaks, but I got used to it quickly and don't think of it as a problem. Overall, very fun entry! :)
:D what a fun and wacky idea! It definitively has potential!
Crowd hype remained at 100% ! :D This was very fun to play, and I laughed quite a bit. First time I played the crowd wasn't very satisfied :D but the second time was the charm. I sure hope you're collecting what the players are typing in, so that you can get a good laugh too :) Great entry~!
this is the coolest take on the theme I've seen yet! :D I really like the combination. Music and graphics are all spot on. They set a really nice retro mood. A mood you never wanna get out of :)
Love this idea, literally blending two games in one :) Both games control nicely and the presentation is solid. Very fun entry :)
p.s. Thanks a ton for pointing out that Darkade doesn't work on Linux! That should be fixed now.
I'm a simple man, I see gameboy colors, I click. :D Very nice entry! I love the combination of the genres for this theme. Graphics and music fit the style and mood. Only thing I'd say perhaps looks off are the enemies and the player, since they are drawn in a higher resolution than the rest of the world. Overall, great work, really relaxing!
Very nice take on the theme, great idea! :) The only complaint is that I didn't feel like turns were passing by, it felt more like time pauses every half a second (if you quickly pass turns), and you adjust your position in between. Perhaps if your shots were also somehow turn-based, but I understand this is difficult to get right, it would've made it feel more turn-y, and I guess also if enemies did something on their turns that you can respond to in your next turn.
Overall, I do like it, and I think it's a solid entry! :)
What a fun mix! :) farming bullet hell. I like it! The art is very good, and music is fitting. It's an interesting concept since you can choose where to plant what plants. You have to be strategic about it :) The throwing on the floor animation is hilarious :D and very useful!
I would perhaps consider adding an indicator when a plant is ready to pick up. When there's a lot of plants, you can miss a few, especially as it's getting dark.
Overall, this is a great entry! Keep at it :)
The ending was sad :( But I'm glad Bunny Amour didn't react to it the way I thought she would! The art is top notch, both game environments look and feel amazing and atmospheric. In an attempt to not shoot the bunnies I jumped over the wall and outside map bounds. But that didn't help :D
Playing Bunny Amour's part was very fun and I managed to hook up all of the soldiers together :) Possibly the best entry I played so far!
You managed to create a very creepy atmosphere with great audio and gameplay style :) The topdown view really gives you this, almost claustrophobic feel. Kudos for making the map procedurally generated too. I wouldn't dare attempt that in such a short time! :)
This is really cool and funny :D beautiful ascii art composition :) I died often and early haha, but it was fun regardless. Great take on the theme.
:D I love the pixel heads bobbing to the rhythm. I very much like the art style. The music suits the game. With a bit of gameplay polish, and more rhythmic moves variety, this could be a really fun thing!
Those are some nice lava effects! :) Also your programmer art is not half bad! I like the jumping mechanics and gameplay in general. Although the only thing I can't see is the connection to the theme. But otherwise, nice entry!
Unfortunately I couldn't find someone to play with :D so I maneuvered with both players. I like the concept, and the very charming graphics!
Nice take on the theme! :) Simple, but fitting graphics. The player was a bit too inert for me and it made the game a bit hard, but I like the challenge.
this was really cool :) I love the b&w pixel art. Nice mix of incompatible genres! It can be a bit difficult at times (sometimes even impossible), but reagrdless, this is very well executed!
The visuals and the narration are beautiful! Though, I could not understand the bigger picture D: but that's just me haha. As was mentioned, subtitles would perhaps be of great help. Nonetheless, great entry!
Ahhh I really enjoyed this. The overworld map is so reminiscent of games like chrono trigger and final fantasy. The music and art style fits the game perfectly! I had to play all the way to the end! ~~|>
The platforming controls could perhaps use some tweaks, like faster falling down, to give more weight to the player, and snappier jumps, but there's some charm in these mechanics, as it is. As you mentioned, enemies would have been a nice addition, but lack of enemies didn't make the game any less fun, so don't worry about it :)
Fantastic sprite work and animations :) Camera movement is a bit weird when you turn sharply, but other than that, mechanics feel good! When zombies hit you, perhaps it would be cool if they knocked you back a bit, since it happened too often to me that I'm standing in the same place as the zombie and I'm unable to hit them, but they can hit me.
@PerfectHumanInterface Thanks for the playthrough! :) I'm glad you played all the way to the end! Videos really helps a bunch, you can see exactly where players get stuck and what things you need to fix. If I decide to do the post-jam version, I'll definitively keep in mind to fix the double-ball bugs and to introduce more control over the paddle and the ball. Thanks again, keep up the good work! :)
I like this mix a lot. Training your pets, then sending them off to the dungeon to earn you money :D You should keep working on this! The graphics are really nice, and the music fits the mood. The start of the game is perhaps a bit too difficult, and I think this has to do with the way enemies move. You can't really predict where they're gonna go next, and how many times you need to hit them.
Maybe later on have early levels be shorter and easier, then slowly increase difficulty as days in the game go by or something similar. Overall, very good entry!
Very cool pixel art! :) I wish there was more variety in the things you type/do, and perhaps some goal you're working towards, even if it's just hinted.
This was really well done, especially since it's your first LD. Airplane controls really well and shooting is fun. I would've liked more shoot 'em up segments, since after a while you get good at dodging all of the lights. Perhaps introduce new challenges as game progresses? In any case, great entry! Keep at it :)
I love how you made the letter gun :D pretty fun concept. The graphics are nice, and the character controls good. It's nice that the letters that appear are close to your WASD hand. Nice attention to detail :)
Like the mood here! :) The music is very fitting to the overall style. This is a nice take on the theme :) The only problem I had was with jumps and enemy hit boxes. The player perhaps felt a bit too floaty, and since the enemies would appear quickly, and had large hit boxes, I would often die.
I really like the mood here. It's very spooky. Combined with the silent death animations of the enemies makes it very eerie. The player controlled a bit too inert at times, and I found myself spending a lot of time just forcing the ball where I want it to go.
The graphics and music fit the mood really well, and I think you managed to combine 2 incompatible themes very nicely! :)
That brain model is glorious :D
As others have mentioned, controls need a bit of polish, and perhaps more clear instructions in-game on what to do in the beginning. But nevertheless, it's a fun entry! :)
