It is very hard! :D But also fun to play, nice little game!
I think this is the most Fun(tm) I've had playing a game so far. I thought I had found a bug when I typed "flapppp" and kept flapping but the description says that's a recognised move.
* FLAPP - can be used to move like Flappy Bird except slower. Repeat as many times as needed. * DIVEE - essential for the quick under-over.
* SPIT - can't really see how this one is beneficial when you can normally just fly over or under something. If there isn't room to fly around it then you were probably going to die anyway. * DASH - likewise, just FLAPP instead.
* FLAAP - Strictly worse than FLAPP. Does the same amount of flappage but isn't repeatable.
Very fun game!! Didn't see the point of dash and spit, but still a nice result. Loved the game!
I really liked this combination of genres it was interesting and unique. The art was really cute as well.
I agree that dashing and spitting didn't seem too useful but MAN this is a really fun idea. I'm absolutely terrible at it, but the mismatch in my brain between "playing Flappy Bird" and "typing" make it really funny even when I lose. This is such a perfect use of the theme. One of my only big issues outside of the some of the moves seeming a bit superfluous is that sometimes it seems like the game generates impossible obstacles. But maybe I'm just bad at it.
Great visuals too! Good job on this.
Wow, this idea has good potential, I liked it!
Nice pixel art and fun gameplay. Very challenging, you gotta be really quick to successfully use dive and spit. I was hoping that spitting at a bug would give me a bunch of bonus points because it was so tricky! It seemed like eventually the game would just generate some impossible brick formations, but maybe I'm just not skilled enough. I do wish the game had sound, even if it was just very minimal SFXR sounds for flapping, spitting, etc.
Thank you all for the feedback! We really appreciate it :D
I'm doing some kind of post-mortem that may address some points, so maybe the curious ones can get a better feeling of what the idea was behind each command (But please don't let that bias your ratings! This is no excuse!)
EDIT: here's [the post-mortem](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/type2flap/$94473)
This is a really neat idea... it's also extremely difficult. I found myself mentally turning it into a normal flappy bird game but where I was pretty P to flap! I'd be interested in a version that slowed down time while you were typing rather than the aaaa mechanic, in practice I found that I wasn't really able to see far enough ahead to be able to make sensible decisions on that. I thought the art and sound were fantastic, I loved the various creatures and things you've got going on there, it seems like this idea has some potential. Thanks!
Nice visuals and gameplay. But really hard to play :D.
This is a really nice idea with a very good implementation, but it is indeed very hard! I like it, but I'm too bad at it :grinning:
Very interesting idea. I enjoyed it, nice job with the simple graphics.
this was really cool :) I love the b&w pixel art. Nice mix of incompatible genres! It can be a bit difficult at times (sometimes even impossible), but reagrdless, this is very well executed!
Nice idea man! The levels get impossible sometime
Wow that was a unique experience. Bookmarked this because I’d love to play it again in the future! Came here because of your blog post.
 What I loved * Loved the visuals and overal style of the game. * I see soooo much potential in this game * Very challenging, but very rewarding gameplay.
:thought_balloon: My Thoughts * I wish the game had sound or some sound effects * Maybe turn the speed down a little bit  It might be better for the jam so more people get to play the game for a bit longer. If they die instantly they come back to write a review. * Nice mix of genres.
I’d love for you to review my submission as well.
So much rage, yet it's so fun! Nice.
Nice game! I would suggest making more typing-based elements. I also noticed some specific parts of the level where the 2 columns were so close together it would be impossible to fly through. Just add some minor tweaks and this could be a commercial product.
The gameplay is, I think, a result of a really great idea, but it might be a bit too hard. But I like challenging games and typing games, so it's cool for me haha ! I also like the graphics :)
Very interesting comination of games.
As others have said I'd think this would work better if it was a bit slower paced. I ended up only using flappppppp mostly because typing other commands took too much time.
Graphics are really well made! Black and white was a good choice for jam games!
Great, frustrating, flap
Love the multi command inputs, makes the game a lot more playable (i didn't realize you could so i was typing the full text every time ). Love the flat mono color graphical feel, its rare to find one well made! Good job!
Another one for the gang of typing games! =) Really enjoyable monochrome visuals!
Very unique gameplay, very nice graphics. I'm missing sound, and saying "It is very hard." is the understatement of the year... :grimacing:
Sometimes the level generator creates combinations that are impossible (or nigh impossible) to manage. Also, I don't see a level progression, so it's about the same difficulty from the very beginning.
Very fun but very hard as you say. Would maybe be better to start off way slower, and slowly go faster and faster.
