Very much enjoyed this! Considering going back for some more secret-hunting...

Very much enjoyed this! Considering going back for some more secret-hunting...
That was pretty damn cool. Really nice mood, well done
Got scared! Really great experience, but scary for me. Here you can find my review: twitch.tv/rodancheg
The Linux package seems to be lacking a data folder, and therefore can't run.
Alright, I wasn't expecting a game of that depth from an LD entry. I was very pleasantly surprised! Definitely going to come back and play that again - gotta get further!
Really surreal and the mood is perfect!
I usually hate horror games with a passion, but oh my lord this was great. Horror breakout... What a wonderful take on the theme. I really enjoyed the ending. well done.
Awesome job! I was impressed with the amount of content you were able to pack in during just one weekend. Loved the unique theme and story as well. All around, really fun!
Cool game. Really enjoyed it!
Awesome, how you can do so much with so little. And i mean this is a huge compliment. top entry for me !
Well done! I really liked the aesthetics and the... spoilers.
That was actually really well done, I love the effect of the CRT shader.
I'm pretty sure I've never defeated a boss with breakout before either, so kudos to that.
Really nice style, intriguing, but I did not get very far before i got stuck, definitely made me want to play more and try and find what other games are hidden in there - Edit went back and played more :), made it to the end/ an end. That was excellent. Definitely one of the top LD games I ever played, not just LD41. Argh Now i have to go back and play again
That was spectacular! It does a great job of instilling an atmosphere into you. However, it's very confusing. Maybe make the progression clearer?
It's amazing how much this game was able to put me on edge, especially during the boss fight. You really nailed the retro aesthetic, and I loved the details of the computer errors. It was annoying to try to hit specific areas with the ball, but I guess that's what breakout is.
Loved the CRTesk feel of the game and how innovative it was. Great asthetics and sound. There was one point where I ended up going right for 5 minutes straight until I realized that I probably shouldn't be doing that and had to go left for 5 minutes straight to get back, whoops. Other than that inconvenience I'm glad I played it.

Here you go!
This is really great. Really hit the nail with the horror-ish atmosphere.
First thought "okay this is pong kinda" but then found myself beeing totally hooked.
One of the best games on this Ludum Dare that I played! Very cool!! Untitled22.png
Wooah, that is quite the experience! I'm not even sure if I got to the end or not? Really great atmosphere and puzzles, and just an amazing amount of content and polish for the time you had. I really felt immersed in this world!
So I played this game without reading description and the first thing I think "how is this related to the theme" and then I broke the wall and realized what is going on. Unfortunatly I didn't find all the secrets but all the glitches and messages I found were great.
that was creepy! Excellent take on the genre. That is something that i would never have come up with. Amazing work
Very moody, nice concept! These two genres are the most incompatible I've seen yet! Love the graphics style!
I would have loved to have more control over the ball by hitting it with the left/the right of the paddle, and changing the bouncing direction that way.
I have to say, I expected some kind of "booooh the game is haunted" story like Pony Island, but I reaaaaally did not see it coming. It's very well done and the horror aspect doesn't rely too much on jumpscare. The story is weird and keep your attention until the end. I really liked it, really great game !
Nice combinaison ! The mood is well made, even without music. The art works.
Keep coding :)
This game is great! It felt very complete for a Ludum Dare game.
I'm gonna put this game on hold hahahah
I got too frightened when the screen warped and the loud sound played, will play when it isn't the middle of the night
I'm not sure what just happened... and I love it! Well done. The retro, the creepy, the sounds. Awesome.
I like this game. Nice styling. Nice sound effects.
Wonderfull game and idea! I was not able to see the end but I really got hooked on that! Take a fish: 🐟
THIS IS JUST AWESOME!!! The sound effects gave me goose bumps throughout the whole game. VERY nice game design you have here and an excellent piece. The amount of work done within this short time is incredible! I really like the puzzles: they appear to be very mysterious but ultimately can be smoothly and intuitively solved. Keep up the good work! I would love to see more content if you are planning to continue developing this game.
@KingofWhaWha Thanks a lot! :) I will consider doing a post-jam version with bugfixes and extended content.
@PerfectHumanInterface Thanks for the playthrough! :) I'm glad you played all the way to the end! Videos really helps a bunch, you can see exactly where players get stuck and what things you need to fix. If I decide to do the post-jam version, I'll definitively keep in mind to fix the double-ball bugs and to introduce more control over the paddle and the ball. Thanks again, keep up the good work! :)
Played it to the end! After a lot tested games here this weekend, it's weirdly refreshing to play a game like this. An experience.
Very good work!
that was awesome, surprised me a couple times and that made it so interesting, I played it until death, blue screen of death. overall the mood that you created was great music graphics, text and design working great together. sometimes i didn't knew which way to go and went into dark for a minute but that was my only problem
Truly a hidden jam. The puzzles and the mechanics are well placed, and the graphics is impressive. good work! (would be better if the paddle positioning can change ball angle tho, but haven't played atari breakout, dunno whether this is a newer design the dev intentionally ignored)
Cool concept, but I felt like I didn't have enough control over the ball. In most Breakout type games the ball bounce angle changes depending on the part of the paddle they hit or the speed/direction of the paddle when they touch. It seemed fairly static in this. Regardless, it was fun and creepy :scream:
Now I played the whole game. And it was amazing! The atmosphere was incredibly intense - almost to much for me - but interest pushed me further. We don't have a clue how you managed to create that much content in such short time and are absolutly blown away by Darkade!
You earned and deserve our fish of gratitude 🐟g🐟o🐟d🐟
@beebo-studios Thanks!! I'm glad you got to the end! :) I'm making an extended version now, with an alternate ending path. If you're interested, it'll be up on itch next Sunday.
Oh, and thanks for the fish! It was divine!
This is brilliant. You blended two incompatible genres incredibly well. I really enjoyed playing this, right up until I got stuck because I didn't know what number to enter. I tried a lot of obvious guesses: 000, 111, 256, 666, 999, etc. but didn't get it. What clue did I miss?
@csanyk Thanks! :) As for the number, there's a hint in reversed text where that "other" player is trapped, after the first statues.
Hi ! :) I reviewed Darkade in my last LD 41 video : https://youtu.be/cZWBtMwuqDg?t=205 I did not understand everything but I loved the mood :p. Congratulations ! Feel free to ask me for translation as it's in french ;)
that was awessooomeee
