Cool game! The movement can be annoying some times, because you stop if it is a tiny block in front of you. But a good submission, indeed!

crock 2017-12-04 13:31

Nice idea and nice game, only problem for me is music which make me crazy after a while, but rest is great :)

mruniverse 2017-12-04 13:33

Very interesting, narrative piece. The art is very pretty and the simplicity lends itself to the scaling effect. After going left for so long the game tells you to go right, which was a really long way to go.

william-bundy 2017-12-04 13:37

It's very pretty, and I especially like how you knock leaves off the trees. Walking back and forth so many times got boring, though; maybe you could warp? Also, the water physics is frustratingly slow. Great work though

tomdev 2017-12-05 12:50

The art looks beautiful and the sounds are just great fit the theme very well, good game

kashif 2017-12-05 12:57

Fun game.

blinkeye 2017-12-05 16:25

Loved the game. I did not expect the game to have tree physics which put a smile on my face. it did occur to me that when swimming the game does get a annoying stutter. The rest of the game is awesome and beautiful! Great work!

talia 2017-12-05 19:53

I had a really good time playing this game! Just exploring the varied landscape and collecting some items. The simplicity of the art is a big advantage for the game. Great Entry!

svr-audio 2017-12-06 13:02

Good game, the lowrez art is pretty good, I also liked the music, the gameplay is very cool, its is possible to see that you put a lot of effort making the game mechanics, I had fun playing it, good job !

beanslasher 2017-12-06 15:01

This wrapped into the theme very well, I like the exploration as well! This is a really good entry, Great work team haha! :)

2017-12-06 15:12

oh congratulation! Nice art! Can I follow it also on indiexpo? Do you have a page? This looks great! Good luck!!

edmond00 2017-12-06 15:59

@roy87 Thank you for your message ! Unfortunately, I did not know indiexpo, and for now I only have a page on itch.io.

While I love the mood and atmosphere of the game (always happy to see another game focus on atmosphere and narrative through mechanics) I have to question the necessity of the procedurally generated world. I don't think your game would have lost much from just being a straight path from left to right in a simple handcrafted level, as there is not much need for each experience or run through to be unique. Rather, I think in this case just having basic point A - Point B level design would have worked fine. The procedural generation is mostly fine, but I wonder if that time would not have been better spent elsewhere because I really do love the atmosphere of this game. Great work, and I definitely want to see more from you!

exnihilo 2017-12-07 02:22

"Walk to the mountain on your right." Well, this had better be worth it.

Turns out it was. I think. Wait, isn't the whole point that it was never worth it to begin with ?

I guess the small annoyances in navigating this lovely little world, like having to jump above the slightest bump in the road, can be chalked up to the subtle groundwork progressively numbing the player to the game's mechanics, so in retrospect it would be hard to criticize them.

All in all, it was a very consistent and memorable experience.

edmond00 2017-12-07 04:07

@nucleose Thank you fo your feedback ! You are surely right, the procedural generation is not really necessary to the game as it is now. But in fact, I start the first day by the generation part without a clear idea of the game at first.

@exnihilo Thank you for your comment ! I appreciate that the game speaks to you that way ! I am not sure that the whole point is that it was never worth it to begin, I wish the players at least have fun on the first part of the game ^^. After, like all sandbox/open-world game end up becoming a little annoying, I tried among other things to stage this feeling.

seano 2017-12-07 13:16

The changing view was nice and the mood of the game.

aruculadomal 2017-12-07 13:54

Cool game to play, but kinda gets boring when you have to walk from one side of the map to the other. Pretty nice idea though and I really liked the graphics, the sound and the attention to detail, the leaves falling from the trees and the movement on the water is really nice.

triastase 2017-12-07 14:37

I really like this game, especially its almost philosophical approach. The only thing that bothered me a bit was having to just walk from left to right for a few minutes without having something to do along the way. Other than that: Great game, really! :)

hatchet 2017-12-07 21:30

Really nice visuals. Love the leaf falling effect and animation. And great job on the procedural generation of the map. The game does get a little bit repetitive, but the story makes up for it.

shess 2017-12-08 15:34

A surprisingly engrossing game that reminded me of my very first day in Terraria, when I knew nothing about the [game] world, and every step was an exploration wonder. So I don't think the procedural generation was just a funny gimmick to go with it; I believe it really added to the narrative and overall mood.

Core walking part could be a bit more concise, but other than that - beautiful, beautiful experience.

jimbly 2017-12-08 23:25

Lot the hat falling off on the jump =). Would have liked to not have to jump to get up over single block inclines.

By the time it asked for Olive and Sugar Cane, I was way, way to the right (in some new biome), and it said to go left :(. Then it said go right, and I don't think I'm willing to walk all the way past that area I already went through -_-.

Great style.

Total wheat collected (I couldn't resist holding space while running): 754.

kix334 2017-12-09 03:58

That was fantastic, i love how simple your art style is, yet all the little interactions you had, like the leaves falling from the trees, really make the world come to life! Great game

jebouin 2017-12-09 05:23

The world is so big, it got boring after some time to walk back and forth. Nice game though, I really liked the leaf physics!

zinkler 2017-12-09 05:42

I'd love the hell out of this game, if it wasn't for three major problems for me: 1) The jump sound is just horrible. I'm asked to jump all the time, and it hurts my ears. 2) Slopes. One pixel elevation stops you deadly, asking for yet another painful jump. Just make those one-pixel slopes walkable without a jump. 3) The distances you have to cover in the end of the game. Also, I loved the music at the beginning, but grew tired of it at the end. If it was me, I'd do an artsy thing - each time when the map grows, add a new instrument or a track to the existing melody - that would definitely do the trick and benefit the story. Other than that, I loved every single bit of it.

porcus-pie 2017-12-09 07:05

This game certainly sets a mood. It feels very explorative and as the scale gets larger and larger it just becomes nice to see it grow. The character moved responsively, although there was a lot of jumping even for the smallest thing, which whilst is fine for smaller scale games that are flat, having a large scale procedurally generated game meant it got a bit annoying after a while. I also felt that there just wasn't really any challenge or change. Whilst yes it was very art-like and you got to see new worlds, you always went through the same place over and over with the same repetative musical ostinato playing in the background. Whilst I appreciated the mood and graphics, when it shrunk really small I had to physically get close to the screen to see the blue flowers. I found this game interesting and unique, but I feel it could have engaged me more. (Sorry if this sounded so harsh, I did actually enjoy the game! Games that set a really nice mood I find really quite cool.)

simonhutchinson 2017-12-09 13:42

Wow. This is a really interesting and moody game. It feels like a kind of micro-Terraria in some ways, I think that's in part due to the music. It's really impressive that this is all procedurally generated too.

Really nice work.

creativewhisper 2017-12-09 16:50

This is a great piece of work, i love the mood you set with the art and the narrative. i like the little details you put on this little game. Controls are a bit frustrating, mainly because you don't signal the places where you can stand or not. With some refinement this could be a great game.

themonax 2017-12-09 20:23

This is a pretty game, i like it :) I think the world is a little bit too big because and the physique is a little bit strange but good game I like the little stories you put on it ;)

tom-panton 2017-12-10 11:36

I liked this a lot, especially the art style! Well done on managing to create such a cool procedurally-generated world in 48 hours :) To nitpick, though, travelling from the desert to the mountain was a bit tedious, as they're quite far from each other.

the-dankasaur 2017-12-13 05:00

Looks pretty cool, and the music was good for the first 30 seconds. Some nice details. I personally thought it was super boring but it was super cool how it was procedurally generated though.

trabitboy 2017-12-15 13:47

Very pretty, very soothing, the engine is very interesting especially when climbing trees ! Very interesting experience for a compo game, I felt really compelled to go further.

satyre 2017-12-16 14:25

Great take on the theme, it did feel to slow at some moments, especially when hitting the water, but on the other side you can jump and walk with the character by holding the keys, which was relieving in the end. I also like, that you don't have to recollect the items you already collected and the introduction of new items after some progression. Keep it up!

peredom 2017-12-21 11:14

interesting game! It was very cool the sense of exploration that it gave me at the begining, but then it became kinda boring when I had to find bamboo and cherries and I was in a rocky biome, and then I reached the end of the map and I still hadnt found any bamboo, so I quit cause I didnt wana go back and waste like 2 minutes just to get to a normal biome. So the world limit sucks. And having nothing to do in a specific biome also sucks if you happen to be there. A solution might be being able to run faster so you can get out of those biomes, or giving the player more stuff to do so they can always do something in any biome. I really liked the concept. There arent many real exploration games out there, and this one I think has the potential to become a cool exploration game
