LD39 — Running out of Power

Assault//Battery by tuism 2017-07-31T23:09:19Z

This is a very fun game! Everything just works, from the idea over mechanics to graphics.

The only thing I was missing is some auditive feedback for the destruction. Music is nice and all, but that would have made it even more fun and probably a complete game in my eyes. :)

Robbery Bob by Yvanor 2017-07-31T22:21:40Z

This is definitely a more complete game than any of the other ones I have played so far (including mine).

Just three things: The sound was not working, which I suspect was not intended. Then there were some grammar mistakes, but that was not that bad. And the levels got kind of repetitive, as there were so few different kinds. But the speed change made it more interesting and of course you did not have that much time to make more levels.

Very good game, all in all!

Shipbuilder by Emil Sunesson 2017-08-01T15:53:00Z

It's a nice idea to have the user build his own ship, and the game works. But besides that one cool feature there is not really something new about...

Still, I had fun playing it! :)

Drawing with Light by boundtotheearth 2017-08-01T15:33:27Z

I did not get the idea in the first level, but then, after I understood what the concept is, I really liked it. Unfortunately there are some glitches here and there, but you still had a good idea and made a good game out of it! :)

Spacy adventure by egordorichev 2017-07-31T10:37:52Z

I really like the graphics of this game, and with the sound it gives a nice retro feel. While this is probably not the most original game idea, it clearly fits the theme well.

Also: Quite addictive, once you have played it for a few minutes ;)

Edit: Sorry for the spam, it was a mixture of mobile internet and the slow website...

Intrepid by Arkthalohs 2017-08-01T06:32:38Z

Great game! I especially liked the dice rolls and the way it never gets boring, because you always keep the player busy.

The graphics look a little unfinished and on my screen the right side is cut off, but apart from that, this is really cool!

Hold Back the Night by dnp 2017-08-01T07:17:32Z

I like the concept of your game, and you've managed to make a decent game out of it!

However, the game lacks some details like particles or small animations. I guess with some more time at hand you could make the idea into a very nice game. :)

Edit: Sorry for the triple post. I was impatient enough to click publish again after the site did not react for a while :/

Running out of Coffee by Triastase 2017-07-30T23:29:50Z

I'm sorry there's no sound, but it would be distracting you from doing your important work at the computer anyways, right? ;)

Thank you @tuism for your constructive criticism! :)

Swing by Lovro Kalinovčić 2017-08-01T06:48:27Z

This was kind of hard for me to play, because of this: Screen Shot 2017-08-01 at 08.45.02.png

Still I've managed to finish the first level somehow :D

The graphics look good from the images I've seen, the sound is nice, too. And what I've "feeled" from the gameplay is fun! :)

Edit: I am currently on a mac using Safari. Hopefully that information helps finding out, why the blocks disappeared. :)

Overcharged by lectvs 2017-08-01T12:16:44Z

Wow, this is the best game I've played so far. I really have almost no idea how to make it better, as it's a complete mini game.

The only thing I would suggest is maybe put people in the houses at the border of the map to avoid the most obvious tactic of killing no people (go to the nearest border). :)

Zombies and RVs by pixelgriffin 2017-08-01T07:29:08Z

It's really amazing that you put this together in the short time! Really, graphics, audio and gameplay are just great!

Unfortunately I've managed to fall out of the map with my first try, and it did not seem to count that as death, which you might want to change ;) Screen Shot 2017-08-01 at 09.23.14.png

To escape from the prison of robots by Egor Iv 2017-08-01T06:59:09Z

I like this, though I did not get very far. I needed a few runs until I found out, why I randomly died sometimes (my power ran out). :D

It might help to add a different way of dying, so that this mechanic is easier to understand.

I like the twist you gave to the platformer using the theme! :)

Harvest And Extract by Kthulhu1947 2017-07-31T22:35:01Z

Unfortunately the zip does not contain a build for mac, so I can't play the game from where I currently am :/

Exponential Maintenance Engineer by nintendoeats 2017-07-31T23:02:17Z

The best thing about this game is definitely the concept – which is probably the most important thing in a contest with only limited time for the execution. I love it!

The graphics look kind of unfinished and I also got a sound glitch on Mac (induced by a small physics glitch, with object bouncing around a bit). But it's still a very original and good game. :)

Run Ning out of Power, Montana by jekstrom 2017-08-01T12:07:28Z

Nice game. The only things I would like to mention are the predictable AI and that the connection to the theme feels kind of forced :P

But, anyway: Well done!

The Last by Vija02 2017-08-01T06:40:35Z

Interesting, seeing an HTML game that is not a Unity web build :D

I found the game a little difficult, too, and agree that the bandages should disappear (or look different) after they've ben used.

⚡Current City⚡ by JnKrambrich 2017-08-01T16:12:21Z

Well done! It was kind of glitchy for me and I had to keep scrolling up and down in the Web version as it did not fit on my (laptop) monitor, but it's impressive how much one can make in 48 hours! :)

The Wiz by Michael Feldman 2017-07-31T22:31:50Z

I really like the mood, the graphics and the audio of this game! For the gameplay, I found it hard to understand what to do with the other people you come across. I also did not really understand the intro... :D

Power Down by Lightsmasher 2017-08-01T15:41:56Z

This is great! Especially that you made a tutorial level instead of hoping that everyone would understand everything on their own.

I like the graphics and the mechanics are cool, too. The jumping is kind of weird on edges, which results in a feeling of unfairness, when you fall down because of that. But that's no problem, because then you are just reset not far away. All in all: Good! :)

Running Power by 2Demigods 2017-07-31T11:19:45Z

A complex game for just 48 hours, which is impressive! The graphics are ok, sound too, but the gameplay is not optimal I think (because of a lack of time, I would think). In the first round I did not know what was going on at all. The second round was better though. :)

Smash ball by Sivael 2017-07-31T22:46:34Z

Unsurprisingly, smashing things is really fun! The game fits the theme and is just a good game.

There are just two main things you could improve, if you wanted to take this further: Performance (as others have already stated), and a higher probability of losing the game. I basically could do anything without running out of power (which was good for having more fun at the beginning, but it makes it less challenging and interesting).

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Click by Porcus_Pie 2017-12-09T00:52:56Z

Not bad, I like seeing a rhythm game in the compo! :) There are some things I'm missing, though: You should explain, what keys are used to play (That got me confused for a bit :D). Then I also think that some parts are off beat. And (I am not sure about this) I think that I could just always press the buttons to get a decent score, is that right? One last thing, but it's understandable, that that is missing: Show me the score while I'm playing to motivate me! :)

Money Is Everything by Jani Nykanen 2017-12-06T14:43:58Z

I really like this game and the graphics are awesome! Too bad there's no sound... The gameplay works really well, which I would not have expected with just one key as input. Very well done! :)

Save Christmas by oskardevelopment 2017-12-06T19:17:42Z

I do like the concept, but this is really not designed for the player. I'm impressed by what I think must be there behind the scenes, as the fields appear to be linked in some way. The idea was good, but mabe it was too much to make it playable in the short time. Good job, still! :)

Eight More Drinks, Please by rplnt 2017-12-11T20:45:31Z

Well done! It's a fun but frustrating game to play, my best score was 6. Some things you could improve with more time would be more sounds for different things instead of mostly ambience sound, maybe a turtorial with a slower rising diffculty and some more difficulty balancing (haha). Also being able to restart with the press of any of the buttons that are used to play it would be nice.

Dodge X by cogcomp 2017-12-06T22:26:36Z

Not a bad game at all, although I'm not too much of a fan of the trashy art style (though it is well executed). The gameplay is simple, but it works. In the first levels I did not have to move at all, because my life was decreasing slower than the monoliths'. What I'm most impressed by is the variety of complex objects, which look great! :)

Snaketris by Yngvarr 2017-12-08T14:55:57Z

Cool idea and well executed! I got a glitch where the snake respawned into itself again and again until there was a tower to it's spawn point, but there was no game over or something to handle this. So the snake was just caught in a loop at its spawn, only the controls of the tetris blocks were still working.

Other than that: Fun! :)

Ghost Drifter by groverburger 2017-12-23T12:51:15Z

Cool game! You should rate some other games, so you can get enough ratings to be listed! :)

Rucksack by karln 2017-12-11T20:27:54Z

This is a really good game! Interestingly made inventory. I had one little glitch, where the bow did not want to stay still in my inventory, and when I closed it (or it was closed because I was shot), it was shown as if it were on the ground, but then it followed me anyway. Other than that, great playing experience! :)

Rhythm Bandit by fashionbatman 2017-12-06T14:56:54Z

The idea fits the theme very well, and it is well executed. I found it a little frustrating to play, because i was not able to move when I wanted, but that's kind of the point here. SO maybe it's just a lack of skill on my side. I really like the music by the way! :)

Fat Man's Paradise by Tomahawk2001913 2017-12-09T20:43:37Z

Funny little game! Is there a way to win?

If you would add a little more variety to the gameplay, like some interesting side-mechanics, this wuld feel more like a complete game. But it's already a good mini game! :)

Dark Space 8 by SaraJS 2017-12-07T20:46:22Z

It's quite a complete game you've made here! I really like it! Some more sound or music would have helped with the mood, but in terms of gameplay everything works really well!

Lice Hard by cptalbertwesker 2017-12-12T14:46:27Z

I did not think that a game about head lice could be fun, but surprisingly it is! Good job! :D

Tosser by Mik3 2017-12-07T14:11:14Z

Out of all the games I've tested so far, this is the one where I'm the most like: "Oh god, oh god, the more I have, the worse it is!". So theme: Check. Some more feedback on what I'm doing while I'm doing it would make the game way more fun, though. Still a very nice entry!

America 2018 by Antti Tiihonen 2017-12-06T15:03:33Z

I like it, especially the visuals and sound, but the controls were glitching for me, which made it barely playable (that might be due to playing it with HTML5, though). Still fun! :)

DvZ by TRGoodhue 2017-12-25T12:26:48Z

Hey! If you want to get enough ratings, you should rate other games! This way you will get listed higher on the games page. ;)

Sores by bradleysmith 2017-12-06T07:24:15Z

This is so sad... Well done, especially the graphics (of course), but also the idea.

Worth Your Weight In Gold by UncleChris 2017-12-05T20:30:36Z

Cool game, I like the original and quite fun gameplay! I'm not a big fan of blocky graphics, but you still did a good job on those. The sound is good for the short amount of time, and the voice is a funny addition. Well done! :)

Avoidance by Triastase 2017-12-05T16:03:34Z

I've updated the download links with a fix for graphic issues I was having on some platforms. Now everything should look like on the screenshot on every platform.

Hold Out by wareification 2017-12-09T01:00:20Z

Well done! :) The new shapes made the game more challenging, which I liked. I somehow found it a little slow, so maybe you could make everything go faster or allow letting the blocks fall or holding the down arrow to not have to press it multiple times. With a faster pace your twist would really come to shine, I think.

grooOW! by ladybenko 2017-12-09T01:08:28Z

I like it! The idea is simple, the graphics are simple, but because everything is so simple, you were able to polish everything to a degree of a flawless gameplay experience. With more time at hand you could probably make it better by adding a bigger variety, but this is a very good product for a weekend of work! :)

Crystalien: Mega Blastar by Gurbx 2017-12-07T14:22:58Z

Very well done! The only thing I don't really like are the controls of the tank, but that might be me. The game is also quite hard, but with some practice it's super fun! :)

Busted! An Epic Cops Vs Robbers Endless Runner! by CaylebLucas 2017-12-12T14:19:20Z

Really good, this would work very well on mobile devices!

I really like the graphics, and the sound is good, too. The idea is simple, but it works and it's fun.

There are some things you could improve, though: Like others said, losing beacause of colliding with the side of an obstacle you have already successfully dodged feels a little unfair. The jumping is ok, but it could feel more natural. Right now it feels inbetween optimal for gameplay and physically accurate, and I think you should go for one of those.

But I really enjoyed playing it. Impressive for just 24 hours of work! :)

Overdose by Kashif 2017-12-07T13:52:02Z

What a sweet game! I love the combination of the simple shooting mechanic with these visuals. The auditive feedback is great, too. For me, the connection to the theme was a little lose, but it was fun anyways! Well done! :)

Be Fit! by ProgrammingDimension 2017-12-06T22:35:05Z

Quite simple, but it's better to make something simple and make it good, than to set the goal too high. I like it! :)

A simple man by edmond00 2017-12-07T14:37:52Z

I really like this game, especially its almost philosophical approach. The only thing that bothered me a bit was having to just walk from left to right for a few minutes without having something to do along the way. Other than that: Great game, really! :)

Defend the crystal by TheMonax 2017-12-09T20:53:46Z

Good idea, and it looks good, too.

I think that you could improve it by making it easier to access the variety of weapons there are (I'm not shure if different keys would make it better, or maybe two for switching the active weapon and one for using it... You could try out a few different things).

A possibility to retry would also be great.

For your second entry, this is really impressive (I know, because this was my second real attempt, too)! Keep it up! :)

Sunburn by Shimmen 2017-12-08T15:05:44Z

Wow, this was made on one weekend?! Damn! The 3D graphics are great (especially the character animation). The sound works, but the music could be less repetitive and I somehow wanted to hear a win sound when I won. I really like the concept of the game! :)

Double-Edged Arena by Charlotte Fries 2017-12-10T23:41:13Z

With the updated version I was not able to get the first wave coming with the keyboard controls. But what I've seen so far looks good. What do I have to do to get it running?

Npigs by 6smith 2017-12-09T00:40:43Z

I like it, but I think there should be a way to lose (or win). Just the score does not really motivate me to go on, because I could go on forever without really losing or winning. That kept aside, I really like most about this game, from graphics over sound to the gameplay.

Lost Orbs by Masthiks 2017-12-11T20:06:21Z

Quite tricky! I failed at the 3rd level and gave up, partially because of the walking sound. :D But I like the concept, the approach to the theme and the graphics. Well done!

FIT_IN by cachodragon 2017-12-10T23:45:34Z

This is cool! Simple, but fun and quite challenging!

Abby's Phone by Kilian BAPTENDIER 2017-12-20T14:19:29Z

I think you know that this is not the best game in this jam, but I still appreciate the effort you put into this. Keep coding! :)

They learn young by MystiXGoDZ 2017-12-20T14:04:55Z

It's still not working and on your itch.io profile it says that you haven't posted anything yet. Could you have another look, I'd be happy to try this! :)

Did you set your game on public?

Infected Pong by PhillSerrazina 2017-12-07T13:59:18Z

I like the concept of this game, and it was executed well. Its a really good game for a first submission, and it profitted from its simplicty. I like it! :)

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-10T23:25:20Z

Funny idea and really no better way to realize it (I think)! It's simple, but I don't even think that it would be better if it weren't so simple. It's built around the core idea, and that is good. I (really) enjoyed playing it!

Pumpkin Massacre by Moyubori 2017-12-09T20:31:22Z

Good idea, and mostly well executed, so well done!

What I liked most is the pixelated 3D visuals, the post effects laid on top (the combination is what's really good). You also have some cool particle effects, which add to the coolness of the pixel look. I really like most of the visuals, except for the background, which felt kind of misplaced. The minimap was a helpful feature, but the visual implementation might need some more work.

Sometimes I found it a little to hard to just go through open doors, so the collision could probably be optimized some more.

Some sound and music would of course add to the mood fand feeling of the game, but it's still a good entry! :)

Drugtopia by 1gres 2017-12-11T20:33:13Z

Whoa, it's so hard! What a pain to move after a while! What you wanted to make, you made well. :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

TREE by Marcionix 2021-04-29T20:57:22Z

Cool game, I like the combination of movement / directing the roots and resource management! At first I always forgot to fill up my energy and lost, maybe it would make more sense to just not enable movement when there is no energy? Otherwise I found it quite challenging for a game jam game, but also interesting and reqarding enough to make me try again and again for a while.

Unearther by udo 2021-04-30T10:46:54Z

Cool game! I like that you started with a simple mechanic and added quite a lot of additional mechanics through the levels. The music is very nice and moody, too (and reminds me a little of the music in Protal 2, which I love)!

I ran into a few problems in the later levels, though: - In "Floor is lava", I died on my first try and then the player model did not respawn, so I could not move or do anything. This did not change when I restarted the level or selected the same level in the level select screen. After reloading the web page, it worked again. - In "Death ray" I also died on my first try and then always respawned already in the death ray, so as soon as I restarted the level, I was dead. - In "The gob-line" there was only one goblin on the right side of the level, and when I moved, I instantly died. This time the player model was respwaned, but I could not move. Also there were now four goblins in the level, which seems to be the expected behaviour. When retrying after reloading the page, it worked as expected, until I died again and could not move again. Third reload, a fifth goblin came from the right side into the level like the first time, but the four goblins were also there. When I died, I respawned into the left stone and could not move (edit: tried again and it seems like the player position is not reset after death in that level).

All in all, I enjoyed your game and am quite impressed with the amount of mechanics you were able to implement in the short amount of time, even though some in the later levels seem to be a bit buggy. I tried to explain the glitchy behaviour in detail, maybe that can help you with finding the fixes.

Boom by krammetje 2021-05-07T09:31:58Z

Nice little game, it was fun and relaxing to play! If you added some event that shows the player when they have finished the game, it would be even more rewarding to play. This could be a great mobile game if you added more levels to play! :)

Not So Grimm by Rongefilet 2021-04-29T13:01:37Z

I love the art style and the mood it creates! If you added some more things to explore, I would definitely play it for a while. I also like that you made a game that just makes people feel better, which we probably all need right now...

Puzzles All the Way Down by Triastase 2021-04-26T22:53:59Z

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, it's my first time publishing on itch.io. I really thought that at least the link was working. unfortunately I didn't have time to fix it during the day, but now I published the link, added a description and everything should be working. Thanks @dhim for being willing to come back, I will also rate your game later this week!

I will also add the files with builds for Windows, Mac and Linux and the source code later this week, I really only wanted to get out one playable link int time, but then apparently failed to publish. Sorry!

Puzzles All the Way Down by Triastase 2021-04-29T21:04:02Z

Thanks for the detailed feedback, @dhim, I appreciate that! I also agree with pretty much all of your points and would add those, if I find the time to work on this a bit more. Especially putting the play button on another face of the cube, which I did not think of at all.

My girlfriend also found the "infinite keys" bug, but as it's not really game breaking I didn't fix it yet. But thanks fo pointing it out, I will fix it, when I make a post-compo version. :)

And thanks to you too, @Katsuhira!

Puzzles All the Way Down by Triastase 2021-04-30T10:21:06Z

Thanks @allov, @matejag, @heidelbert, @verygenuinecraze, @vaincil, @pincushion, @animagik, @kaihyo and @udo for the kind and helpful comments! And yes, I definitely see your points that it's missing a sense of progression, score or increasing difficulty. One day more time and I might have added a score, timer and a score-based difficulty curve. And also sound, which I 100% agree would make the game feel much better, also by making it clearer when a puzzle is solved. Your (@udo) idea with differnt shaped and colored keys was also on my list, but I barely got everything that you saw working in time.

But we're all getting more experienced each jam and maybe I'll be able to make a more complete game next time.

Puzzles All the Way Down by Triastase 2021-05-05T22:39:25Z

@verygenuinecraze Thank you! I'm definitely thinking about developing it further, I only need to find some time for that. It might take a while, but I do think that I will try to make this into a small mobile game.

Tiefenmesser by axelrinaldo 2021-05-06T11:05:22Z

Fun game! For some reason the music did not play for me in the web version, but as it seems to work for others that might be a problem on my side (I will just leave Audio unrated and imagine the moody submarine music the other commenters have described ).

I liked the basic game mechanics and think that you could build upon that if you wanted to develop it further post-compo. It definitely is a bit challenging to control at first, but that's part of the game and fits the submarine well. Making the speed influence how easily you are detected is quite clever and has a cool risk and reward balance!

BREAKIN! by Homlet 2021-05-06T11:41:38Z

I like it! The gameplay is fun and you had some cool ideas like holding on to the ball and adding a second one with the blue tiles. I got some glitchy behaviour with some of the physics though (ball inside the walls, ball going backwards after grabbing with too much speed), maybe some additional checks would help with that. Otherwise a well rounded experience!

Micronaut by healthire 2021-05-13T10:53:36Z

Wow, this is one of the best compo games I've played so far in this LD! Only thing I might change if I were you is that one wrong turn can ruin a lot of progress for the player. Maybe it would be even more fun if the levels themselves are a bit more challenging, but the player is never reset so far back?

But otherwise, very well done!

Deeper Trance by dhim 2021-04-29T13:13:31Z

Wow, what a unique entry! I needed some time to adjust, but when you see it, it's a really cool effect (same with the music going deeper and deeper). The gameplay is of course rather minimalistic, but it's crazy to see a game in Ludum Dare that does something I've never seen in a game before!

Saving Greg by LJFMX 2021-05-06T16:55:28Z

Very fun concept, the voice acting, the voice acting is on point! The gameplay could of course be... more, but it's good to see someone prioritise actually telling a story in the game, and in a fun way. Well done!

A Quest for Cheese by Sibi 2021-05-07T10:48:31Z

Nicely done!

What I liked: - fun concept - graphics and animation (especially a the one at the end of each level) - space theme without having the player shoot stuff - game pad controls felt nice - strategically bumping into asteroids to clear the way - music

What could be improved (in my opinion): - less post processing - more forgiving collisions between asteroids and shield

Heart of the Planet. by gabbeeder 2021-05-07T10:16:42Z

Congratulations on finishing your first jam! This is a fun little game! And a lot of content, with beautiful pixel art. Some more work on the controls (they seemed a bit indirect to me) and polishing that others mentioned, like the bats flying upside down or keeping the music playing when restarting a level would make it even better, but it's already fun to play. Well done!

Treasures Of The Depths by Uzpykes 2021-05-06T20:29:48Z

Fun and pleasing little game! The look and animation feel great and I really enjoyed two moments: 1. When I found a diamond in an unexpected place (felt as good as in Minecraft or Terraria) 2. The animation at the end where al the layers are shown, that was awesome!

Good job!

Surface Level by DecadeDecaf 2021-05-13T11:13:19Z

I love it! I had a smile on my face after a minute or two, and it stayed for the rest of the game. Well done, really! Like, I don't normally like games with this much text, but this was a great experience.

Edit: Oh what, this was made in the compo, not the jam? Just wow.

Snake on a Sphere by MachWerx 2021-05-06T09:12:34Z

What an actually original twist on snake, and it also fits the theme well!

The increase in difficulty by not only growing the snake but also shrinking the planet feels very natural and fair! At least up to a certain point. At some point there is a hard line where the snake does not fit on the planet anymore, right? Mybe it would be even better if the snake also shrank, but somehow slower than the planet, so that the difficulty will still increase but it will never be impossible to pla further, only extremely hard?

But anyway, I enjoyed the game and I think you have a very solid start to work on further, if you wanted to make this a mobile game for example!

Your Average Lift Experience by Katsuhira 2021-04-29T20:39:48Z

Wow, this was so much fun to play! Actually funny!

The Lift by Nuanda79 2021-05-07T10:00:25Z

Well done! I was kind of surprised that I did not have to connect all dots correctly, but only three. The losing sequence was funny though!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-05-06T09:38:30Z

Amazing work, I don't know how the hell you made that in 48 hours!

There is a great sense of progression with the upgrades and everything, and just when I thought that I finished the game and there is nothing more to achieve, the time trial mode was unlocked. Nicely done!

Abyss by BDenis 2021-05-06T17:11:05Z

It took me a minute to realise how the controls are supposed to work, maybe because of the missing rope indication. But once I figured that out (you have shoot at your platform to set one rope point, then at the wall to set the second rope point), it was a fun and quite challenging little game!

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-05-05T20:51:08Z

I finally found the time to play your game, too!

The concept is nice, I really liked the idea of working against everything that ruins that poor person's dreams (and not only because I can relate). I also like the variety of disturbances you have created. I do agree with some other commenters that it would be more challenging and fun if the difficulty would increase more over time. The controls were a bit confusing to me at first, but that might just be me.

Run little one, run by Para_no_ 2021-05-06T20:03:16Z

Congratulations on your first game jam! And cool little game!

I found a small glitch: if you die and just press Q, you live again but your position and timer are not reset.

I also agree with the others that it's quite hard to survive for a longer time, but the limited view for example makes sense for a rat nonetheless. All in all, well done!

MinesDeeper by BigFantasyTree 2021-05-07T10:31:51Z

Cool game! At first I thought it would be like Minesweeper, only on multiple layers where you have to go deeper and deeper. So I needed a moment to get why the mechanics were not as I expected. But then I had some fun with the game! The mechanics work great and I have not seen them anywhere before like this. With some sound and maybe some different minerals to find, this could be a nice mini game post jam!

Through the Anthill by nessie 2021-05-06T09:59:06Z

Congratulations on finishing your first game jam! And you made a complete game!

I agree with the others that some kind of introduction to the different gameplay elements would have been nice. May the first level should be really easy and quick to finish and introduce the leaves mechanic. The second level could have damaging tiles in it, but also the healing beans. The third level could introduce the bad beans. For example.

But I really liked the graphics and 3d models (except maybe for the texts, which were a bit pixelated)! And the mini map was a very helpful addition.

Deeper in Debt by NorthernDonut 2021-05-06T11:18:32Z

Nice little game! I really like the graphics, and the basic idea is fun, too! Maybe it would add to the gameplay if there were things that you should not click on? For the topic of this game maybe discount coupons? :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Footprints™ by HopeCorp by Makiling Interactive Arts 2022-04-21T17:38:42Z

I like the idea of having to balance financial, ecological and personal aspects of these kinds of choices in a game, because I tend to think that that's the best we can do about the climate crisis on a personal level. Despite the mechanics being relatively simple, I think that you executed it well!

The amount of content (as in texts) is also quite impressive for a game jam. Which is great, but at least for the playtesters here the effort might be spent better on additional mechanics - instead of more days, e.g.

Overall, well done!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Tiny revolution by island-jam-2-group-3 2024-10-25T23:53:04Z

Cool idea! As long as I wasn't missing any health, it seemed like I did not need to make any use of this cool mechanic, and for a while I was not sure if that was discouraging the use of the scanner. But then when I was missing some health, it made sense again to use the scanner, so I think the concept works very nicely. Well done! :)

Creature Collect by TheNBCorpse 2024-10-25T23:44:52Z

These were my favorite tiny creatures I saw across all games I played from this jam. Made me smile more than once :)

Bee Happy by KANAGG 2024-10-25T23:36:47Z

Cozy, I like it. Was there supposed to be sound? For me, there was no audio playing, so I left that category unrated

Cheese Capade by Selen93 2024-10-26T00:01:26Z

Very original base concept for a puzzle platformer! I liked it, and with more time you could probably make a full puzzle game out of this concept, if you wanted.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

[Web] Stealth Dance! by Linver 2018-05-09T06:58:40Z

Wow, very, very well done!

I really like pretty much all of it, but here are the two things you could improve (in my opinion): - One time I got stuck to a wall in level 2, that should be relatively easy to fix. - It wasn't really clear to me what to do in the boss fight at first (maybe add a hint that we should just completely avoid the boss-tiles and that's it).

Gone Clicking by hiki911 2018-05-08T13:09:51Z

This looks so good! And it's fun to play, although some bugs in v1.0.0 (all notes show up at the same time, or suddenly the speed of the notes gets way too high) kept coming up after some time. Fix those, tweak some stuff, and you have a really good game!

Gone Clicking by hiki911 2018-05-08T18:42:08Z

@hiki911 Oh, ok, nevermind then!

You could update the jam-version with the bug-fixes to avoid confusion, though (I played 1.0.0 to rate the game fairly and without post-jam changes). Bug fixes are allowed for the jam-version, as long as you don't add or significantly change any features!

A Tavern Life by Paula 2018-05-03T21:41:18Z

Very well done! It's a little too hard for someone who has never played it before, I think, but it's so good!

Burger Barrage by muzuka 2018-05-03T19:45:54Z

"Failed to load mono" for me, too. I've extracted the entire folder from the zip, including the data folder.

Typistry by mahalis 2018-04-27T08:30:45Z

Great game, typing has never been so much fun (if, without a score, only for a while)!

I have played the compo version (to rate fairly) and most of the possible improvements I could think of are already in version 1.1 or planned.

Maybe there could be a special attack, whcih requires you to type in a really long word with a special spelling?

Also I sometimes started with less than full health when I lost and tried again, because the projectiles in mid-air where not reset (although I don't know if you've already fixed that in the new version).

Joe Chef by Aumbra 2018-04-27T05:42:06Z

Crazy game idea, but very well executed!

Also finally something where it makes sense to rate the humor!

Bad Band by Triastase 2018-04-26T16:07:38Z

Thanks for the comments!

@evan-minto and @lectvs: Yeah, I had planned on making more genres (and a more variable gameplay), but ran out of time... :grimacing:

Bad Band by Triastase 2018-04-27T08:48:16Z

Thank you @amras0000 for the comprehensive feedback! This will really help, if I want to work further on the game. To the points you've made: - I know, isn't there even a (sub-)genre called electro-classic or something? Originally I also wanted to include other genres, like jazz, blues, pop, ... Then there would have been an incompatibility-factor for the score, which would have been higher on more incompatible music, while the fans would be disturbed more easily by the other genre. - True. This is mostly due to the fact that I did not want to miss some other events (and sleep) on the weekend, so I did not use more than half of the time I could have used. - I tried to (by making the fans and there respective spotlights react to the score), but decided that a clear indication would also be needed. Of course a percentage bar might have have been better... - Originally I wanted to multiply the score (which would have bee percentages). But then I realised that 10% on both sides would result in 1% score. Getting rid of percentages the multiplication still resulted in two negative scores having positive effects and so on. I did not think of using the minimum though, which could work better. Thanks! - The scoring system kind of works now, but as you've found out behaves weirdly in some cases. This is the result of me trying to come up with a non-obvious and challenging but still logical way of calculating the scores... Might look into that again later.

Bad Band by Triastase 2018-05-10T10:06:06Z

Thanks, guys!

@gimbalock Thanks for pointing out the sound issue! It seems that Chrome is blocking the Unity sound if there has been no interaction with the page before loading. It should work better now, as I've added a play button.

Final Click ZX by candlesan 2018-04-26T16:03:44Z

Very well done! At first it was very fun, too (one of the best ones I have played yet). But after a while I got a little bored... Maybe because there was no way to lose?

But anyway, I enjoyed what you've made here!

Marco Polo by microwerx 2018-04-26T05:51:18Z

I needed some time to get used to how things worked, but then I had a good time playing your game!

The controls were a little confusing, because I accidentally changed them from time to time by pressing space. And one time I got stuck at the top of the screen while in the action part. But I still liked it!

Permadate by lectvs 2018-04-26T16:17:47Z

Wow, very stressful! Maybe it should start a little slower and gain more speed over time?

But after a while it's really challenging in a positive way, and also humorous!

Friendship Fighter by Evan Minto 2018-04-27T06:48:33Z

I love it!

Some more variety later on would have been nice, but I know you did not have more time than any of us, so very well done! Especially with implementing not only good gameplay but also a kind of story.

Run and Plant! by Hellblade 2018-05-08T12:58:40Z

The concept and ideas for your implementations are cool, I like them! The game is nice as it is, but you could probably make it better by: - improving the level generation - making the plant benefits clearer - adding background music - adding more variation - fixing the weird double jump (allthough I had some fun with it )

Sleeping Titanium by Poorwill 2018-04-30T12:55:01Z

Well done! I'm not sure how much I like the concept (and how well it would work if you made a complete, more polished game out of it). But as the product of just one weekend, this is great!

Here are some things I think you could do to polish the game a bit further: - Auditive and visual feedback on long combos or getting four in a row instead of just three - Some kind of goal (This doesn't have to be a way to win the game. Achievements or medals for a high score or a certain number of chickens would be a motivation for players to play on, for example.) - Optimisation of the screen layout (now there's a lot of blank space) - Background music

But the compo version is already working well and I had fun playing it.

CWF: Card Wrestling Federation by sprngr 2018-04-26T06:03:34Z

Cool idea! The only thing I did not really like was that a match could just suddenly end because of a hold attack... But I guess, this is how it works, right?

Overall, I like it!

ShmuRTS by bitowl 2018-05-08T15:07:49Z

Hey, the Windows link is broken and the web version is not working properly. Can't play, can't rate.

Hell's Kitchen by Milo87 2018-05-03T20:05:44Z

I quite like this! Even though I needed a while to get used to the controls with keyboard and mouse, it was fun!

It would have been even better with some sound, more feedback on what I do (when is the right time to stop cooking?) and a game pad, I suppose.

Keep it up!
