I can't rate right now due to not finishing my entry but if I do manage to finish, you'll be getting some high marks from me. This was a blast :)
Nice job! Loved the voice overs, lol. A great combination of idle and arcade, GG!
It's really fun to play! Excellent idea and implementation! Thanks for the game! I want to play more and more, to get all the improvements!
This is great! I got most of the powerups (except for the high-level Trophy ones). I like how you didn't just take the clicking part of clicker games, you also took the automation mechanic. Eventually I just left it running with autopilot on to rack up money, which was weirdly fun and satisfying since I felt like it was succeeding thanks to how I managed the resources. Good choices for the powerups. There's some room for player creativity in terms of which powerups to get when. The voiceovers are really funny too!
I was a little confused about how Elite Enemies helped me. Do they make more money when you kill them? The Trophy powerup seems a bit strange too. I guess it's just there to tempt completionists after the first one? Also, in the late game I started to get performance (frame rate I guess) problems. The bullets were blinking in and out of existence. Probably too many particles.
Wow! There goes my night :). This game feels pretty polished and is very fun and addictive to play. I have probably put more time into this game than most of the other games I have tested thus far. Great job!
Very fun and addicting! I won the game :). I liked the intensity you brought to the clicker genre with the action gameplay and music. I thought the voice overs were a bit cheesy but that's just me. Throughout the entire play-through I felt as though the amount of enemies was the only real limitation which was frustrating. I would have liked if it felt like all the upgrades had more impact.
Nice work @candlesan!
@Evan Minto That is good feedback. Elite Enemies helps you in that they are worth more when you kill them but to be honest I am not really happy with how that worked out. Ah the nature of game jams right? I wanted the enemies to get harder and I thought it would be a good upgrade at first but in practice it feels awkward to be consciously making your game harder. If I worked on the game more I think I would definitely remove that part of the game and scale the enemy count automatically instead. Also - sorry about the performance issues. I noticed that too after a long time. I made an Android build and noticed the similar issue on my phone. I don't do any object pooling on the projectiles, I just constantly make new projectile objects and delete them when they're done. I suspect there's some garbage collection issues or something similar affecting frame rate.
The trophies are there as a victory item to just let people know they won the game. I find clicker games can be strangely compelling but I also know for Ludum Dare people don't want multiple hour experiences. I wanted some way to end the game and I thought buying a trophy to signal "You win you're done" would feel more satisfying than requiring everybody to reach the same level of progression before they could call the game done.
This was quite a bit of fun. I loved the sound effects (were those popping balloons?) I normally don't play clicker games, but this example was compelling. Great job. It reminded me a little bit like xbill.
I won TWICE! Super fun, definitely gets at the core of what makes clicker games satisfying. Very polished. I laughed hard at the upgrade voiceover, especially when it said something completely different from what I expected. I want more!
@microwerx The sound fx were made in bfxr. Glad you were able to get a kick out of the game even if you don't normally play clickers. It's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.
@Aaron Nemoyten I'm glad you liked the voiceovers! I think I had 2 hours left in the jam when I was recording those and I definitely felt like it was down to the wire and stressful. Fun to record nonetheless.
@candlesan recording silly voiceover should never be stressful! :D
Loved the voice over too. The game is polished and well fitting the theme.
An excellent clicker! In a retro shmup style! Love it! Put more upgrades, differents musics, that's the way !

You find the way to make clicker games really fun to play ! It's really a great use of the theme, you made two incompatible genres become compatible :). It's one of the most polished game I played so far, everything is clean and smooth which make the game very enjoyable to play. Maybe adding some enemies who fire at you can make the game a bit more challenging, because I felt that in the end it became too easy. I just had to wait for my money to go up (but it was quite satisfying too ... :)).
Really great job !
Very well done! At first it was very fun, too (one of the best ones I have played yet). But after a while I got a little bored... Maybe because there was no way to lose?
But anyway, I enjoyed what you've made here!
@polegar and @Triastase Thanks for the feedback. It was definitely a tough call regarding enemies. I wrote the code for enemies to shoot at the player but then I realized that yeah - the enemies probably need to provide a bit of real threat to you. But because of the auto-pilot it was frustrating if you got hit when you weren't even flying the ship. This created a dilemna. So then I thought maybe it should just deduct money when you get hit, but not too much money. Just enough that you might care about not getting hit but it's still okay if you do. But then I ran out of time :) Ha. But yes I agree some threat added would be a good thing to add if I continue work on the game.
@ROBOWARRIOR1982 Grats on the win! You gathered all the trophies I see! :) Thanks for playing my game.
Nice little game. The game was really fun at first but got bored after a while. The turret is a little bit unuseful in the game because I didn't bother to click it after buying it. Maybe because the game can't be lost huh. Overall great job.
Homings missile were very nice, and ennemies pattern were well executed. Nice job as a solo jammer : )
Oh man, as if clicker games weren't addicting already just add a galaga aspect to it and I'm hooked! I do wish there was more of a challenge, but then again, that's not really how the clicking genre works. All things considered, very good job!
Got all power-ups, but only two trophies. Very addicting = good clicker, nicely done!
completed :) gJ5CcYHPQVqiz1mULCJDBA.png very good job, like this game!
Sorry you didn't find the turret useful @TQV5964 , it's intended to let you shoot while autopilot runs.
@Gizmolo @HPMNK @gridsane thanks! Glad you had fun!
Congratulations @ddolgov ! Thanks for playing.
Okay erm wow. I have alot of feedback but that doesn't mean i didn't enjoy the game that means i played it so long that i got this much feedback for you lol.
First off: I really really loved the game, there was so many good things about it and for 48 hours work it's really quite amazing!
Okay so onto the feedback: The voice acting could of been better it didn't take anything away from the game but i don't feel it added much either after a while to start off with it was okay but after the third or fourth time i heard "turret upgraded to level #" it got more annoying than anything.
The music i loved to start with it really fit well but did get a little repetitive but not the most repetitive music i have heard it was only a slight issue
The passive income didn't seem to do that much it felt like it was a bit of waste of money same with the spread shot (Maybe when you get the spread shot it also increases the number of shots as well?)
The progress slowed down quite dramatically the further you went which was a little disappointing i would of liked a nice steady progress.
I can see this game getting places. The concept is amazing and so addictive. If there was more upgrades, more enemies, different ways of earning income i think i would have a lot of fun playing the game and i would play it everyday with enough content in it.
Overall great game one of the best i have seen in the compo! Graphics was spot on, sound effects was great particles really fit in nicely and the movement of enemies was fluid and felt great to shoot at them!
I would love to see more from this game! Good luck if you decide to develop this game further!
1524940755_2039_28042018_436x680.png best clicker game I ever played, to fucking addictive and the classic shoot em up style is great, the sound is hype and the voice makes it even better
I normally hate clicker games. Yet I played this one almost all the way through. I didn't get the last couple trophies, but I really enjoyed the progression of this one. It was well balanced so you were always earning more upgrades which led to harder enemies which lead to more upgrades.
This was extremely polished and nice. I liked the voiceovers when I purchased the upgrades. It made the whole thing feel more epic.
I would have liked it if you could purchase different music in game. Then swapped between it or something.
This was a great entry. Good job!
@EddyNeave Thanks for the detailed feedback! You're a champ for providing that much feedback. I agree the passive income is on the weak side. Good callout. I think it works well at the start with rank 1 but it doesn't scale at higher ranks as aggressively as it probably should. I'll have to keep working on my voice acting skills :) I enjoy doing the voice acting for my ludum dare games - I'll keep practicing! Also for the music - I'll keep working on that too. In the past I'd have these short 8-12 second loops that is common in Ludum Dare games but I wanted to a bit more variety so I created variations on the loop into a giant 2 minute series but even then I think it's not textured enough to survive 20+ minutes of being listened to. I think a "mute music" button probably would have been a good idea.
@Hisfantor Thanks for the awesome feedbakc. Grats on full completion.
@minibobbo Yeah I pretty much consider the game beaten once you've gotten 1 trophy. I figured I'd love 4 extra trophies in there for "completionists" who want to keep playing but the game doesnt' really change once you have all the upgrades. Also - I totally wanted to do more music! Actually it's funny I wanted to have "announcer upgrade" as an upgrade, where the announcer would say increasingly cool and complimentary things to you but I ran out of time for that idea.
The announcer upgrade would have been a great upgrade. Especially if at level one it was completely monotone and bored. "You got a turret. Yay for you." Then at the highest level "TURRET!!!! YES!!! YOU ARE AWESOME, INTELLIGENT AND GOOD LOOKING!"
Holy fudgeballs, I'm not normally a completionist in general but this game is awesome. I love the music, the arcade feel and the instant gratification of upgrading your ship. I'm not sure the autopilot was super helpful, but things got so crazy it was hard to tell anyway. Truly a pleasure to play this game, all top marks in my book. :) Amazing submission. fun.jpg
Very addictive - I got all but the last level of trophy, because come on! 25000??? Lol but it was really good, there was always something to keep me interested! One of the highest rated for me :)
Very nice game. The announcer is really nice :P. Didn't buy the 25k upgrade either... when you already used a lot of time getting to 10k it's just awful to get with the same amount of income to 25k in my opinion.
Nice combination that worked very well. Maybe was it lacking some challenge? If I can't lose, is it really a game? Other than that, good work!
Clickers are always addictive stuff, but this is made all the more engaging with the schmup concept. The intricate enemy ship patterns are really well done. Fantastic voiceover as well. Great job!
Just maxed out everything! The game is relaxing and addicting! Just got bored at the last trophy level. Lowering its price or adding a bit more levels to other upgrades would be nice.
@Kurama_Youko I totally agree. During development I actually didn't have time to playtest all the upgrades so the last 3 trophies just had some arbitrarily big numbers typed in. I think it's a great idea that in a post-jam version I would want to lower the cost of that final trophy or change how the "end-game" plays out.
That was super fun! The only issue I found is that you can't ever lose. It was an awesome clicker though. I was just waiting for the enemies to come kill me.
Got all the trophies, good fun. Definitely worth a post compo with more upgrades, aliens, bosses.
