LD57 — Depths

Marianas Miner by Coda Highland 2025-04-09T02:48:05Z

Fun game! The drilling is satisfying. I like these balances: - running away creates a path for enemies to follow. Its stressful and forces you to come up with a strategy - Managing harpoon resources makes it so you need to explore sometimes

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Bullet Hell Breakout by schizoid2k 2018-05-03T04:43:29Z

pretty fun! I got a top score of 61 after a bunch of plays. I like the parallax star background that moves with the paddle.

The acceleration on the paddle movement made it pretty frustrating to move. THere were some lag spikes.

Puzz Snake by Igor KinGamer 2018-05-05T20:18:08Z

Top marks on innovation and theme :trophy: Really seamless integration of the genres. The mechanics were very effective and easy to grasp, but hard to master.

Had a lot of fun playing through, great work :)

Wordelicious by ludipe 2018-04-23T03:22:00Z

Fun and challenging. Easy to pick up and play. The graphics and audio come together for satisfying game-play.

I can't come up with the incompatible genres though. It seems like a normal, and fun, typing game.

Nice work :)

Lofoten by Jonathan Whiting 2018-04-23T17:01:38Z

Really cool. Love the 3d pixel low color aesthetic. I enjoyed the randomize function, I think it would be interesting if there was some less granular controls that make changing the entire scene a bit easier. Something like "raise mountains" or "increase water" or a color slider that changes all the colors.

Super Fun Action Chess by seano 2018-04-23T02:19:08Z

I was drawn in by the graphics. I like your illustration style.

I like the idea, although I've played a few different real time chess games before. The music is pretty intense and fits the game.

I experienced a lot of glitches in the movement and capturing (web version), I couldn't get a grasp of how the capturing worked because of this.

Overall I like the style a lot, the graphics and mood come out on top in this one.

a new day dawns by Ovidios 2018-05-09T19:59:41Z

Wow I was blown away by this game. The varied and high quality sound effects, bgm, and art make for a really cute and puzzly mood. The gameplay is a bit hard to understand at first, but once you start playing you quickly pick it up and you realize the game has quite a bit of depth.

Top marks for theme and innovation, I've never seen a game like this before. You combined the two (genuinely) incompatible genres so seamlessly.

The controls were satisfying, responsive, and easy to pick up.

If you added some more worlds with new tiles or some other sort of progression I could play this for a long time.

Great work, I will be playing more of this game when I have some more time :)

Story Collabs by Maakep 2018-05-05T18:52:02Z

Cool concept! The web game has a nice, intuitive UI. You made it really easy to read the story as well as contribute.

It would be cool if there was multiple stories going on at once, each with a different theme. That way you can contribute to the story that's most interesting to you.

Overall, the UI is well done. I think the leaderboards would go a long way in making this feel like more of a game/challenge.

Great work :)

HappyBlock by PaperAeroplane555 2018-05-05T18:33:15Z

Great solid little game :) The mechanics all worked intuitively. The levels were designed in a way that made it fun and easy to keep progressing, but with a small dose of challenge to keep you on your toes.

Music and sounds would have been nice, as well as maybe a bit more graphical variety. On the other hand the graphics were simple and clean and made understanding the gameplay easy.

Overall I think the best thing about this game is how accessible and easy to pick up and play it is. It also keeps you hooked in.

Great work :)

Final Click ZX by candlesan 2018-04-26T06:07:03Z

Very fun and addicting! I won the game :). I liked the intensity you brought to the clicker genre with the action gameplay and music. I thought the voice overs were a bit cheesy but that's just me. Throughout the entire play-through I felt as though the amount of enemies was the only real limitation which was frustrating. I would have liked if it felt like all the upgrades had more impact.

Nice work @candlesan!

BBall by carlosvVk 2018-05-05T23:23:06Z

Nice idea! 2d shooter + block breaker are definitely incompatible genres. I was impressed by the UI and the bullet trails.

The bouncing mechanics were just a bit too weird to become comfortable with. I was frustrated with how the player controlled. I couldn't get past the 2nd level, the strange bouncing combined with the recoil made it too difficult to grasp.

Nice work :)

Super Word Knight: Searching for Courage by Stamperino 2018-05-04T05:30:01Z

I like the combo system! It made me feel like I was in the zone, and contributed to the beat em up genre. The graphics were consistent and set a nice tone for the game, but more graphical variety on the enemies would have been nice. The sound effects are satisfying.

The mash up of the genres was effective, but the gameplay gets a bit repetitive, I think it would be cool to bring in some more mechanics from the beat em up genre. Maybe different types of attacks with synonyms or something.

I had fun playing.

Great work :)

Bar Fighter - Dating sim + Fighting game by Pixelome 2018-05-03T05:52:48Z

Hilarious/awesome concept and writing lol.

The dating part is very easy, and the fighting part seems to lack strategy. The graphics set the mood, but I feel like the music took away from the mood. That being said I had a lot of fun playing the game and had a chuckle.

Great work :)

Honest Dan's Trout by Honest Dan 2018-05-05T17:32:35Z

Really fun and polished! The thing that impressed me most was the attention to detail on the ball bouncing. The ball never got stuck bouncing horizontally and it always bounced in predictable, but dynamic ways.

It is pretty hard to operate the mouse and keyboard at the same time for something like this, but you get used to it quickly.

The challenge of the game is obvious and exciting. The scoring seemed well balanced to me. I can only imagine the skill it takes to actually get a trout.

Great Work :)

Tale of Visions by SniperA 2018-05-15T04:09:11Z

As others have mentioned, it's unpolished in the visuals. I also think that the text pops up slowly and wish it could be controlled a bit better.

That being said, the story, combined with the music, kept me hooked throughout the entire thing. The visuals had potential and I can see this style going somewhere for you. All in all, I actually really enjoyed this!

Well done :)

Puzzled and Dating a Monster by John Darrington 2018-04-23T03:37:26Z

Congrats on your first jam! I'm impressed by your use of vue for a game.

I got kind of bored since it's essentially a guessing game. The gameplay is lacking.

Your graphics are simple and nice, and make the actions clear and easy to use.

The alternate endings were pretty funny.

Good work!

SHIRO NO OJO by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2018-05-03T05:41:39Z

In this game two wrongs make a right (fire two of the wrong color and you are good).

Really fun! Simple and easy to understand but intense and addicting. Unlike a lot of LD games I don't feel like anything is missing from this one. It's a great standalone game. The only criticism I have is the music and in-game graphics could be polished a bit more, but honestly they are fine as they are. The audio didn't work in the web version.

It's like an action puzzle game. Great work.

Space Faze by Pond Loach 2018-05-05T23:11:27Z

The music, sounds, and graphics make this game feel really polished. The gameplay is simple and intuitive. The problems before I hit 100 were very easy, but after that they were too difficult to quickly work out. I wish the difficulty ramp up was a bit more gradual.

Great work :)

Ludum Dare Review Meta Game by mrPenguin 2018-05-03T04:00:03Z

I agree with @morrilet, the game is a bit too random for my taste. I was a bit confused by the rules, but seeing the graphic made the game make sense right away :).

It's a Date Then: Multiplayer Crab and Moai Head dating simulator by veztron 2018-04-23T20:41:17Z

thanks @katie :). @Badical once you either miss some apples or catch some apples you move on to umbrella balancing, if you win that you make it to the end.

It's a Date Then: Multiplayer Crab and Moai Head dating simulator by veztron 2018-05-05T19:15:57Z

Thanks for the kind words @Olivier-Millochau , @Zinkler . thanks @Pixelome , I thought combining multiplayer with dating simulator was incompatible because usually you play a dating simulator in order to simulate human interaction without actually getting into the gross reality of human interaction ;). But when you throw multiplayer in there you aren't exactly simulating interaction anymore, so it changes the reason you would be playing the dating simulator.

@Pond-Loach the only version I have is a web version, but unfortunately it only works in chrome.

Thanks @szabe :) I'm glad you appreciated my slightly stupid humor haha.
