Wow, amazing execution indeed!
I had the same initial idea but stayed closer to chess and just allowed any piece to be move at any time. I think this maintains a large chunk of what makes regular chess interesting (the tactical positional mechanics). I wish I could have mine look and feel as awesome as yours though!
Really nice looking, that's why I clicked it. It was hard to play, my pieces kept moving back if I didn't hammer away like a madman. Won first game and I think I skipped parts of the dialogue because of the frantic clicking. Was surprised there was another character though! Sound and music good, would've enjoyed if each piece had its own sound :)

I was drawn in by the graphics. I like your illustration style.
I like the idea, although I've played a few different real time chess games before. The music is pretty intense and fits the game.
I experienced a lot of glitches in the movement and capturing (web version), I couldn't get a grasp of how the capturing worked because of this.
Overall I like the style a lot, the graphics and mood come out on top in this one.
this game is pretty good, its a harder version of chess because its real time, and you have to watch the whole board at one time. with more polish this can be a great game.
Fantastic art :) Definitely two incompatible game modes. This feels like it'd be amazing on a touch/multitouch device.

Even if the units didn't move particularly fast, the fact that you need to be aware of lots of them doing stuff at the same time made the game really intense. I really liked this.

Wow! You did a really good job. One of my favorites. I always liked chess and I feel your game has a lot of strategy potential (which is usually really hard to get such depth in a game jam). GREAT GAME.

I really enjoyed your pixel art already from the thumbnail, all the characters are animated and moving grass gives definitely that fine flavour too! Nice and fresh idea in fusion of several ideas, only i struggled in the beginning to handle my characters and getting butchered everywhere it took some time to make at least some resistance to the enemy hehe. Nice idea and sweet arts man, good work!
Really fun to play, graphics are top notch. Incredible you managed to pull of an ai player this well in such short time. impressive.
This is by far my favorite entry, I wouldn't be surprised if you landed top 10!
Great polish and simple but deep concept! Game is hard enough until you notice how strong abusing real time movement is, especially with the queen. Also refreshing to have a story in this kind of game, well done!

Great idea and nice implementation of the theme! The graphics and the music go well together and make for a nice experience. In the 3rd battle, the game bugged out on me and the pieces would start to move and then go back to their initial position so I could not continue. Even so, this action chess was super fun!
good game, real incompatible
I love the idea and the feeling your graphics and awesome soundtrack convey! However, for some reason I can't play the game. Whenever a unit I selected is about to reach its destination, the animation stops and it jumps back to the starting point. The knights stop inside the the pawns they are supposed to jump over. This happens to me in both the web and downloaded version. The enemy pieces are moving fine.
I have no idea why this happens, as apparently others don't suffer from this problem.
@beebo-studios I'm sorry this is not working for you. I'll try and reproduce the problem. Which browser are you using ?
I used Firefox, newest update. But I had the problem with the downloaded version, too. It's propably not worth investigating ':D
Anyways, I played your game on a different computer where it worked just fine. And maaaaan, is it a fine game! I love how frantic and chaotic it plays. Graphics and sound are awesome! The title and description bring to mind an 80s video game commercial in the best possible way!

The knights are really powerful in this as they kill everything along their semi-diagnal path rather than just jumping. I was able to walk my knights right to the king a few times.
It would be cool to be able to use gamepads to select and move them so you could play 2 players.
