The fighting sequence seemed like just randomly hitting keys was the best way to win, didn't really know what I was doing there, but the chat stuff was really funny. You are definitely getting top marks for theme from me, really weird and wonderful idea!

pixelome 2018-04-24 17:46

@SecondDimension thanks for the kind words :) Regarding the combat, the computer follows a few basic patterns like kick, kick + punch, so it can be predicted and blocked, but I don't expect anyone to really put in so much time to figure it out ;)

Fun little game, the Tinder phases seemed too short to my taste, I liked them

Otherwise the fighting part is really well done, Gratz !

pixelome 2018-04-26 17:15

@Olivier Millochau thanks for the feedback :)

twinghosts 2018-04-26 17:50

Nice game, I found it a fun idea and it worked well, I had fun :)

As @SecondDimension said, mashing buttons was the key for me as well haha. And I wouldve liked to have a bit more time in the tinder Phase. Also some more visual feedback would be awesome.

I really liked the idea and the implementation of it, well done!

heheh, this was great! feels fun to play, awesome presentation and suitable audio! Nice work :) great entry!

pixelome 2018-04-26 18:54

@TwinGhosts thanks  I admit, both mechanisms (fighting and dating) could use a bit more work, but I was running on fumes by the end

@designernap thanks for the kind words  :v:

It's a fun game! It's cool to see how different people make games which are so different with the same theme. The graphics are really cool and the finger of honor for "bar fighter" is a fun and very smart idea!

@Julink thanks for the feedback

Surprisingly I found it really hard to find a date that was willing to fight me, and that would have been a really nice twist if it was near impossible... then finally getting into the fight, I did loose. So I can see why people weren't bothering to much with me, seeing I would not be much of a challenge.

I was kind of abrupt end and the transition from being on the ground, beaten up to the rather upbeat music in the title/instructions screen.

It would have been nice if the name of the other fighter carried over to the fighting scene and possibly that they'd yell some of the shit they believed in.

pixelome 2018-05-02 14:52

@local-minimum thanks for the feedback. In retrospect I should have added some indication of how well you are doing during the "dating" phase, also having different reactions to the same question doesn't make it easier.

Regarding the end transition, I originally planed to have the defeated character say some phrases but I ran out of time. In the end I'm pretty happy with the transition as it is. The abruptness and the contrast to me is a reflection on how little the fight actually meant, it's a commentary on modern dating, swipe, f*** and move on. As a corollary, I wanted to anonymize the other fighter. Originally I wanted to have different meaningless names such as "the other guy", "that dude" etc, but ran out of time.

I'm getting too philosophical for my liking  Thanks for the thoughtful feedback :v:

Very funny idea :) Everything looks great, but the combat felt a bit random, since I didn't assume that you put a pattern into the way the computer fights. Some kind of hint as to where he is going to attack could have helped. Anyway, nice job :)

veztron 2018-05-03 05:52

Hilarious/awesome concept and writing lol.

The dating part is very easy, and the fighting part seems to lack strategy. The graphics set the mood, but I feel like the music took away from the mood. That being said I had a lot of fun playing the game and had a chuckle.

Great work :)

pixelome 2018-05-03 07:56

@vasco-freitas thanks, I agree, some hint that a combo is starting would allow players to react :)

@veztron I'm glad you had a laugh, I was writing the dialogue at 3 in the morning  Regarding the music, I attempted to make the dating part relaxed and the fighting tense. Unfortunately, music is not one of my strong suits, I will have to work on that for future jams. Thanks for the feedback

Not a fan of the fighting part, it would have been great if there was a way to predict the move of your opponent. But the date app part is really fun, I love the humor! But it does the job, and it's totally on point with the theme.

Good job "bro" ;)

simianlogic 2018-05-04 13:07

Really good! I think the phone bits are hilarious, but I wish there were more choices than "obviously good" or "obviously bad." I didn't quite put together what the cooldown bar in the fight mode was doing -- it seemed like if you mostly held the low block and then kicked a bunch all the fights are passable. Maybe having different fighters have different strategies would make the game a bit deeper.

pixelome 2018-05-05 08:05

@diffty thanks for the feedback  others have said the same thing before and I totally agree

@simianlogic I would have liked to expand a bit more on the chat system but I was already in a crunch. The cooldown bar represents stamina, it's my way of preventing players from just spamming a button and winning, but obviously there are some combos that are more effective than others  I would have liked to have different strategies for different opponents, but I ran out of time :( Thanks for the feedback

really funny and well executed, interesting idea to merge 2 genre together.

sfey 2018-05-06 09:26

I wouldn't be surprised if someone went and made an actual app for fighting like this :D

The game was cool, well done! (y)

pixelome 2018-05-06 14:23

@nervous-composers @Sfey thanks for the kind words :beers:

The [mail order bride cost](https://newbrides.net/guide/mail-order-brides-pricing/) associated with from country to country. Some countries are cheaper than others, and some are more expensive. For example, Northern Asia is less expensive than Western Europe or North America. If you plan on traveling to two countries, the total cost could be anywhere from $4,000 to $10,000.
