LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Maze Race by UrbanHelsing 2014-12-15T13:17:00

This game is great because it has no checkpoints.

You say you complete 90% and progress is stripped away?
- No, you get the experience and you get better at the game, making you probably be able to reach 91% next time, 94% next time, etc.

Let players stop for a moment to think about the challenge they are facing? We should change the classic snake game so the snake can stop. We should make tetris players be able to slow down time too.

The only thing I'd like to incorporate would be some kind of music sync with the game start, which would be pretty hard considering it's a multiplayer game. And it's a bit rough on the eyes.

We lack games like this today. Today it's all about winning without effort.

I'm making it to around 50% now.

LD38 — A Small World

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-10T08:04:56Z

Great content for a LD, the game itself was a bit too easy - the amount of features the game had makes me think you could've just as easy created a bit more interesting gameplay - right now it was very linear and you spent only a few couple of seconds on each planet, I think I saw the white fading screen more than the actual game. Great graphics, mood and sound! Very impressed overall.

Carefulzilla by glimaleite 2017-05-03T13:48:24Z

Great game, you commented about how similar our games were, which is hillarious! Great execution, I'll try to give some feedback, starting with the enhancement areas:

Amazing art but some entities doesn't quite fit in; The white house, I destryoed like 4-5 of them before I even realized that it wasn't an invisible building, the white just blends in and the eye doesn't see it.

And the buildings; just small windows or something to decorate would be a nicer enviornment, I think.

Other than that; awesome. Love the toes and the physics of the foot and... mostly everything - even the source code looked good! Oh and I got really excited when I realized I had to kick the head at the end and got rewarded with a satisfying face from the evil head.

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-17T10:52:46Z

Cool game, seems like a lot content and time has gone into this. To give some feedback, the graphics were a bit messy and the game was somewhat hard to understand. Whose turn it is, what the different things do and the objective of the game. Great ground but wouldn't hurt to get some further polish! Great job!

Big Foot in Smalltown by urbanhelsing 2017-05-02T08:48:05Z

Hey @djfariel,

Holding down a mouse button lifts the corresponding leg, moving the mouse while holding down the mouse button moves the lifted leg. If you stand on one leg too long you'll fall! Perhaps we were unclear in the instructions, hehe - thanks for trying out the game, I'll take a look at yours soon! (Edit: I updated the post with this information)

@zantamar 100% agree. While I personally enjoy a hard game, it shouldn't be hard from frustrating and somewhat pointless elements. One might argue that you'll have to truly learn the maps somewhat before completing them, and trying out different strategies but I'm with you, there should either be slightly more vision ahead or a limitation on the legs reach ahead, so you're somewhat prevented from trying to take maximum length steps and crushing the poor, poor creatures (and also adjust level design to allow it). Thank you for the feedback and for playing them game, if you've created a game please let us know so we can give some feedback in return!

Big Foot in Smalltown by urbanhelsing 2017-05-21T08:46:30Z

Thanks everyone for playing and giving feedback, and thank you @jupiter-hadley for your tenacious playing! We'll make sure to spread your video far and wide!

Come on, barbarian! by uchiro 2017-05-03T14:14:36Z

Thanks for trying our game! This was amazingly well done, I loved the idea and I loved the execution. Hillarious, and I want the source code!

In Good Hands by simple-blue 2017-05-04T08:34:44Z

This is a really cool idea and the game is graphically amazing. It's a cute little game that's perfect for ludum dare, quick to get in to and enjoyable to play around in.

Well done. To give some feedback, this is personal preference, I didn't have that much fun playing it. I didn't stay for a very long while and I probably won't start it again - how that could be changed is probably adding more features because right now it's like watching fish in a fish tank-level fun, but very very well done and a great idea! Overall I'm impressed and it looks like you have a good foundation if you'd like to continue expanding on it!

Giant Friend by fixedgerald 2017-05-11T15:40:47Z

Ha, we had pretty much the same game idea, but slightly different approach to gameplay! Loved the cutscene, it actually made me exhale noisily from my nose! The game was very easy though, I got through using only W and Space.

For some reason (likely that it was our game idea) I thought the objective was to NOT cause property damage. Upon my second playthrough I stomped some properties! Unfortunately it wasn't very rewarding or challenging to stomp things. I realize that you, being 2 contributors to the project, had limited time but something you could've done to easily give a better experience playing the game is adding a bit of humour or incentive such as funny sounds when stomping different things or adding a bit of money visual/sound. I played the post-jam version as well and enjoyed it a bit more, especially spamming the Stomp, but it still suffers from previously mentioned issues. Great entry nonetheless, I hope I didn't come up as too harsh.

Music is on point and the absolute greatest thing has to be that ending dance animation. It's so smooth, I stared at it for a greater period of time than I was playing the game. Awesome!

Johi Farm by AVAVT 2017-05-10T08:21:53Z

Well polished game, it works wonderfully! Graphics were cute but somewhat inconsistent, but perhaps that's a part of the art - it worked in setting the mood of the game.

Some solid good gameplay, loved that you put in a boss fight as well, and a satisfying comical cutscene ending.

Minimalistic controls which suits a LD good, everything was straight forward - no need for a tutorial, X is all you need. Great job!

Defend the Earth by Scrumplesplunge 2017-05-17T09:25:03Z

A bit hard to maneuver, which brought down the experience slightly. Absolutely love the idea but would've liked to see some more polish. The game is extremely hard, at my 6th or so playthrough I got to wave 2, but died lost my earth there. And as someone previously mentioned the gameplay gets very repetitive and killing space ships is more of a frustrating chore (due to maneuver difficulties) rather than a satisfying feeling, which is what you want to achieve.

How could this be achieved? I'd say firstly fine-tune the controllers - you go to the right side of the earth to kill an enemy, you will reach a high velocity and then scramble to regain control and pursuit the ship, then repeat for that other enemy ship on the other side. It's too much scrambling for control. To reach the enemy ships in time you need full speed, with full speed you will lose control of the ship. Or perhaps I'm just bad, I did however play the game 10-15 times or so and consider myself skilled in the art of gaming. This is my attempt to give some feedback on what could be done - analyse it as you will.

Overall extremely jealous of your game, definitely gonna look through the source code! Wonderful art and a great idea, I love these kinds of games. Great job!

A Small World (how original) by lilkrit 2017-05-17T11:32:17Z

Alright! Great idea, and great execution. It's very simple but could be extremely addicting, at least to me. I really like these kinds of games. My only complaint for gameplay is that it's a bit too easy. With more time I'd like to see some game difficulty polish so it'd be actually a challenge. With even more time this would be a perfect game for some character progression. Level up and upgrade lightning to hit 2 targets? Make the healing last for a period of time? A little nice skill tree where you can upgrade your spells. But for a LD, great work.

Not a big fan of the power-orb mechanic. I'd rather see a few planned out levels with perhaps an end boss. And the mana was uncessesary, I NEVER ran out of mana and I was never in any threatening position.

Crazy People, Friendly Giant by Jesus Perez 2017-05-17T11:23:30Z

Haha, that's awesome. We had the exact same game idea! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/big-foot-in-smalltown Definitely gonna try yours when I get home.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Geralt's secret powersource by Sublustris 2017-08-07T09:12:29Z

Great-looking game, the controls are glitchy though as it seems you're aborting any action if any key is lifted. Great art, looks really great and I'm super jealous of your game. With more time I'm sure gameplay could be more interesting but you've got a great prototype to continue working with and fine-tune.

Galvanica by icxon 2017-08-08T07:54:51Z

Absolutely awesome. The best game so far, a real beauty. A perfect LD submition honestly, full score from me.

With that said, if you'd like to continue working on this awesome game I'd like to see some more mini-game content, like the cargo thing. Brilliant but easy. I got real happy when I saw it and it'd be awesome to have more little challenges like that. I probably don't need to tell you these things though, just the same game but more and interesting features. Loved it!

Click The Power by hungare 2017-08-13T16:24:10Z

Hehe, funny little game. Short and sweet, made me chuckle. I actually wouldn't mind if it just got harder and harder until it'd be almost impossible. I love little games like this that challenge your mind. Maximum skill!

Is Your Refrigerator Running? by urbanhelsing 2017-08-07T13:00:24Z

@kubenexion A choice not to fix the bug, thus making it a feature! We concluded that the gameplay was more fun and active if you need to follow the platform.

Invaders From The Next Planet Over! by SimplePotential 2017-08-13T15:56:56Z

Ah, really like this game. Simple but great and challenging in many ways. Think I got to level 5 or 6 at on my best run.

The shoot-sound though almost made me crazy though. Put a random pitch on it or something so it doesn't get so repetative. Great job, really well done.

Please have a look at our game as well, we're below the scoring score! :disappointed:

Battery of Power by Belga54 2017-08-22T11:15:18Z

Great game, great gameplay. Not much constructive to give - with further development I'd like to see powerups and stuff like that. Enjoyed it! Got 50-60 kills, more than that got real tough!

BAT-BATTERY by cenullum 2017-08-07T07:42:18Z

Interesting feature with the physics battery, although it made the controls a bit clunky it's an cool idea. You had the same take on the theme as us, namely keeping the character running with battery powerups, except you have robo-bat and we have a refrigerator, haha. Well done.

Scrapjunk Couriers by reBTF 2017-08-07T09:03:10Z

Aw yes, I love it. Love the concept and dig the execution. Unfortunately I can't say it was too easy since I only got 60% of the way the first try (I missed the H-key that round though, so I enjoyed exploring what the different slots did) but on the second playthrough I completed the game in 4 minutes and 18 seconds, with very little effort. 2 energy in shields, 1 in ammo and 1 in engine and then the last energy to manage alternating engine-boost/repair and shooting 3 ammo on enemy ships. Absolutely loved the concept though. May I ask how the game was created? Code & engine etc? Great work!

Wayside : A world awaits you by TheCodeFactory 2017-08-01T08:24:03Z

Great game, very addicting. Looks beautiful. Plays cleanly. Not a big fan of the audio, had to mute that quite rapidly. Good take on the theme. Solid.

DRAIN by LERPish 2017-08-13T15:45:04Z

Great little game, awesome graphics, animations and cutscenes. While this is a type of game I generally like the gameplay was a bit easy and the only really challenge was the final boss, which unfortunately died on the first try. I feel the right-click should've been some other movement-ability; something that would enable you to kill a big group of enemies, perhaps dashing through them or whatnot. That'd be satisfying, since the game is about killing enemies.

Space Overflow by PoissonSoluble 2017-12-09T17:24:49Z

One of the best games I've played in the history of Ludum Dare. I couldn't stop playing, the addiciveness of the genre and how you adapted it really clicks with me. Great usage of the theme.

There are some things I'd like to give feedback on; - I'd love a warning sound when you're close to cloning, a few of my games ended very abruptly because I clicked a little too late - Not sure how to fix it but the optimal strategy in this game is to wait for as long as you can before sending out your drones. That's not fun. - How about a ship that collects all the minerals in an area, starting with collecting the small ones, as a means of clearing up the game area. It gets really crowded, I'm not going to waste any precious ships on those 1-9 minerals. - And, as with all games in this genre, you can just add more things to the shop to make it exponentially interesting. I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with the different strategies with only 3 early game upgrades.

However,

The game is amazing, it's a lot of fun, it's challenging. It's my first 5/5 this LD. You could definitely continue working on this (it's fine as it is, I'm going to go back to playing it after I've left my review)

Please feel free to have a look at our game; Paperwork, we still haven't recieved our 20 reviews yet!

Squire by mambojambo 2017-12-09T16:46:39Z

Hehe, cute little game. Fairly easy, was easy to understand and went through it without any issues. Loved the art, overall a nice game. I'm going to assume you were expecting "You are not the main character" to be the theme, hehe. Because the only connection to the theme I made was that I'd be worse for me if there were more heroes, or the more needs my heroes have the worse it gets for me. But that wasn't really a feature in the game, since it was static gameplay from start to finish. Totally jealous of your game though, looks great and it plays nicely. You have a good foundation to build on, should you wish to implement more features. It's a great idea!

Please feel free to try our game, Paperwork, we're not at 20 ratings yet!

LD42 — Running out of space

Mini Micro by HuvaaKoodia 2018-08-25T16:36:32Z

Wow, great action-puzzly game! I was actually kinda disappointed when the I completed the final level - I wanted to keep playing. Didn't get 100% on any of the hard levels, but around 90% on all of them! I'm satisfied with that! Great job in the short amount of time.

Graphics could obviously be upgraded, Unity's Particle System is fast/easy and adds a lot of life to the graphical aspects of the game. Solid entry, all things considered!

Quantum Customs by sidewalksleeper 2018-08-17T12:24:22Z

Played a couple of playthroughs, challenging but fun. I would've liked to have a little more time though, sometimes it felt a bit unfair since it's extremely hard to plan everything out before starting. You basically have time to put out blocks logically and, if you're lucky, you get to place all blocks... If not, you won't have time to adjust it. So what I'm saying, I had to rely on "luck" too much.

The only other thing is that the controls were a bit unresponsive at times(?), placing a block back outside required a couple of clicks sometimes.

I enjoyed the music!

And it goes without saying that the graphics could've quite easily been enhanced without much effort.

My record was day 11. Good job with the game, was fun & I might return later for another play-through.

Not Enough Space by urbanhelsing 2018-08-15T06:23:17Z

Thanks for playing & the feedback guys! The game is indeed hard, by design! I believe many games today are way too forgiving and the "challenging" aspects are often lessen to a point of you, more or less, being guided through the game. While this grinding/perfectioning design isn't great for Ludum Dare since you can't spend too much time on every game, I still believe you will have much greater rewarding experience when you finally beat it! I'm personally a fan of games like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, Mega Man, Enter the Gungeon, etc.

@mrbehemoth they do indeed have gravity

Not Enough Space by urbanhelsing 2018-08-24T14:46:01Z

Thanks for playing everyone!

Thank you @goffmog @rubixnoob13 that's really really encouraging and fun to hear! That's what we were going for, but the people who likes those kind of challenges seems to not be a majority  Glad you enjoyed it!

@tigerj Thanks for streaming, and thanks for the good input. I think we generally agree with pretty much all things you said. Oh and the offscreen mini-camera was very much inspried by Super Smash bros, like you said. It even follows you around the screen and points towards you, sadly you won't see this because the camera is fixed to the Spaceships X coordinate.

TrackBlasters by paulloz 2018-08-24T22:31:07Z

Lovely polish on this game. As for gameplay I'm left a bit unsatisfied, you have a decent racing game that really feels like Micro Machines (which I played like crazy back in the days) HOWEVER, your main gameplay mechanic; the the space shrinking/bomb placing kind of negates everything satisfying in a racing game; going fast and staying on a true path. If you play our game, you'll notice we made the same mistake by having the player dying when colliding with planets. For your game I'd love to see some kind of jump-ability so that I can at least try to fast and try to jump over unexpected holes rather than just stop every time.

Great art, polish, mood, etc.

Break-in by erikkire 2018-08-14T12:03:00Z

My highscore is 3:21!

Very innovative, like previously commenter said, take on the theme & the classic game.

Some minor glitchy behaviour when the ball is trapped between a bunch of blocks, it sort of just teleports around. Furthermore, while innovative the game isn't particularily fun, but well executed nevertheless. It's near impossible to get a good clean row-completetion and it's just gonna get messy. We humans don't like messy things, we like to organize and keep it clean. For that reason I think it'd be more satisfying if the blocks were much larger, so that we could more easily set up for doing row completions, which would be the main incentive of the game. OR, going the way you went, making it more challanging, faster. The blocks being created are used as a way of throwing the player's trajectory prediction off guard, and the increasing speed + lowering of the roof enhances the challenge of predicting the trajectory. And this was really only a challenge until 3 minutes in, at which point I am pretty bored. What I'm trying to say is: faster ball speed earlier!

Contrary to the previous commenter, I liked the minimalistic audio, it was a quite satisfying thuddy sound. Responsive & well adjusted controls; not too fast or too slow. Overall, a solid entry!

Tiny Kingdom Builder by RenD 2018-08-17T10:47:46Z

After a couple of playthroughs 1380 is my final highscore!

Just wow, amazing polish. Good take on the theme, great music, fun gameplay, excellent graphics. Very impressed with your work, this game gets my highest score so far.

Some nitpicky feedback: I went through the tutorial, but as impatient gamers we want easily digested infromaton and the tutorial got very texty. The "Controls"-pages were a perfect amount of text.

Things need to be intuitivt, for example the "Hold" functionality could perhaps be better worded as "Save", that barely needs explaination? Initially I thought it was a hold (down the button) kind of instruction. And I skipped the scoring texts, but I appreciate them being there. So, basically, it's not you, it's me. But a lot of people are like me, or worse, unfortunately.

I'm going to go back to playing a couple more games now, just because this was an excellent game. Perfect mobile game, if you want to port it to that. I'd consider downloading it.

Also, any chances of getting the source code for some of those polished UI interactions? Buttons, pop-upping window? Looks and feels great! Well done!

EDIT: 1520! :tada:

Nice little game, good job with completing your first jam! A good idea and a good foundation to add things. Iterative games with upgrading is nice, I really like that. It keeps me playing, if nothing else just to try the different weapons etc.

The Valiant by smuhlaci 2018-08-19T13:24:37Z

:joy: Amazing concept art, immersive music and a thrilling story. I was quite hyped when I finally clicked Play. At least I got a good laugh from it. Good luck continuing your development; I was expecting some kind of puzzely game (from the "use their weapons against them" etc), which can probably work with what you have. I urge you to get inspiration from the mobile game ENYO.

Not Enough Space by Madar Games 2018-08-14T11:23:17Z

Cute little game, with a decent concept, but way too easy. I was pretty bored but what kept me playing was that you got cooler weapons by time, which was nice. I stopped playing because it said Zombies: 4 but there were no zombies. I assumed perhaps they were stuck in the sky so I shot all my ammo into the sky at various places, but no luck. (I think this was the level where it spawned 20 zombies).

I'd say around 30 times as many zombies on each level should make it interesting/challenging, spawn them on your spawnpoints that are not close to player!

Great things: CLICK CLICK CLICK - the text showing up when shooting was an awesome addition. The physics when walking/jumping around was entertaining. Dual-wielding the weapons was a nice addition, would have been very useful and strategic if the game was more challenging.

Also, great choice of name - same as ours!

Changing spaces by Shakedimus 2018-08-19T12:55:27Z

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

DerpSpace by Pixel Greg 2018-12-09T17:33:00Z

I rescued them all! Cute game, liked the art a lot. Liked the dialogue and the sound effect on the voices. Did a lot for the overall mood.

As for gameplay, good idea but fails a little bit in how it's executed as it is more tedious than challenging. The game's main gameplay mechanic is resource management but doesn't really challenge you if you run out of resources.

I see some other comments praising theme, but I can't say I understand the sacrifice-part of it. You are literally not-sacrificing (rescuing) people! But sure, you are sacrificing your fuel... To them..? So there's that!

Apart from the forgiving nature of the game, a solid entry! Good job!

Garden of Frogs by jotson 2018-12-09T17:54:07Z

Very nice art style & animations, well done. Game felt overall very polished and nice, nice touches on details here and there.

When I first started playing I fed _all_ the frogs, and quickly realized how this game wondefully fulfills the sacrifice-theme. RIP frogs. After the realization that it's very much not good to have many frogs, I quickly met the flaw of the game.

At Time: 300 I gave up.

Problem:

The optimal gameplay (having 1-2 frogs eating and ~~killing~~ sacrificing the rest) is a very contradictory to what you would _want_ to do, or what is intuitive with a game like this; the challenge is to not get over-populated based on your resources, but there is on punishment for having few frogs.

Solution:

The main incentive in the game seems to be "time", there is no point mechanic connected to skillfully managing having a lot of frogs, which is what I would've liked to see here. Something like setting a time-limit on the game (let's say 3 minutes) and for every second a frog is alive it yields 1 point. This gives the player an incentive to manage a large frog population, balancing on the edge between getting a lot of points & losing. Adding an ingame highscore would probably have me playing the rest of the evening, trying to get #1 on that highscore.

Fist of Wrath by vlandemart 2018-12-09T17:14:17Z

Fun concept, I agree with the things stated by above commenters.

So... To be somewhat constructive, what this game does great is:

1. Destruction 2. Feeling powerful

These are the two things you would focus on to enhance the gameplay, but keep the game as it is. Minor improvements such as

1. More powerful smashing-animation instead of a slow linear movement of the hand, I'd love to see the hand flying down with something that comes closer to my great vengence and furious anger at these villagers. For example, I think an exponential speed in the hand (accelerating) would feel more powerful/realistic, so that it smashes into the ground with great power.

2. Satisfying sound effects on smash

3. Funny/satisfying sound effects from villagers, screaming in terror as the hand smashes them to pieces.

If you check my profile and play our game, try imagining how our game would be with no audio/poor audio. Try imagining how the game would be if there were no glass-shatter och flying of the units when you Fired them.

I can see this game be quite addictive, perhaps as a mobile game (which I assume you do@Red Machine) if you add more challenging levels and some God-upgrades (faster smash-recharge, regain life when killing villagers, two hands, etc, etc). Well done!

Death's Reward by manuu 2018-12-29T13:20:06Z

Alright, the mood was decent like the above comments are saying.

The concept is nothing new but it's a fun concept to play around with as a level designer. This is the biggest point of criticism I have; the level design was exceptionall boring. There was nothing puzzly or challenging with it, only tedious and repetitive. The enemies gave no challenge what so ever and there was no satisfaction from killing them.

I'm going to assume you didn't have too much time to do a good level design (it happens to us all sometimes )

Compare the game to a game like Ninja Gaiden and notice the difference in how enemies placement are used in a challenging way.

Also, placing the checkpoints before the mandatory suicide points would've been appreciated.

Was there an end? When I got to the (I assume) end I respawned at the start.

How did you make the ground? It has some interesting shapes and seems to be in one piece, while the game is 2D(?). Is it one large image with a polygon collider?

God's Thirst by Vlad Ilisan 2018-12-09T16:55:35Z

Decent art, I liked how you did the blood a lot. The animations (except idle) were a bit weird though  Awesome UI art as well, very clear and does its job wonderfully!

As for gameplay, it's quite boring - after 15 kills and still full HP I decided to jump in the pit myself, ending my misery.

Small changes to this, that would make it a bit more fun/challenging would be to 1. Remove HP increase after kills 2. Shorter shield up-time, but faster reload 3. AI attack's more visually indicating

This would create a game where every shield-block is crucial and for every attack you take you'll curse and force yourself to improve or die.

Right now you just put up shield, run on your enemies and spam attack, and you'll kill every single enemy without challenge, and if you - against all odds - would take damage, you'll regain that health after you killed the enemy.

I see you've opt:ed out from audio? The audio was :fire: and set the mood quite well!

Reactor Overdrive by JUSTCAMH 2018-12-18T20:27:00Z

Absolutely brilliant. Great graphics, audio and a deep gameplay. A balance you don't expect in these games. When I lose I feel like it's because I'm bad, not because the game is unfair.

Once you got the idea though I feel like you get to ~150 without effort (max guns & overheating and put one aim-point in the middle and just spam away. When elementals come, remove 1 gun & put on elemental), but around 150 (149) when the big boys come, it becomes VERY challenging and I find it hard to balance defence and offense while also changing the aim. The wallers get time to come up and then you're TOAST.

Other than that... Brilliant, to be honest. Had me wanting to play it again and again to try different strats.

Oh, the font isn't very readable. Needs more whitespace.

What's the highest score you've seen?

Mobile in the Automobile by urbanhelsing 2018-04-25T11:37:40Z

Very challenging, but very rewarding. I just completed the game on my 5th playthrough, I love how much better you get with each try - I can almost feel my multitasking skills evolving.

Soon I'll be ready to face the real roads & play mobile games! :tada: No but for real, it's amazing how well this demonstrates that putting focus on your phone for what feels like half a second can get you very far off the road, very quickly.

Feedback: - Car is too slippery, it physically prevents you from speeding up even if your multitask-abilities could do it, - Audio could be better, - Slightly buggy (sometimes black screen after death, one time respawned far away from the world) - Lamely detailed environment (not that I had much time to view it while playing),

Some cool features I'd love to see - People walking out the street, so you'd have to break for them, - Other traffic rules such as traffic lights, - Someone calling you to give you driving instructions in a crossroads, - And as always with games such as these, adding a timer will easily enable speedrunning

Mad Mesa by jcsirron 2018-05-05T22:41:16Z

That's some decent top down car mechanics you've got there! Could definitely be continued to create additional features.

Jump Beat by notime4games 2018-04-25T11:42:45Z

Hi friend of a friend,

Great concept, made me very hyped up - absolutely love the concept and the challenges it brings.

Unfortunately the game was over before I felt it started, just when I got a hang of the controllers and the beats. On my second playthrough I got a perfect run on both levels. :tada: Very satisfactory. Would LOVE to play another map with difficulty increased 20 times!

Some feedback would be that the beat wasn't always intuitive, I kept expecting it to start on the first note of the beat, which was unsatisfactory as the music was great and I _wanted_ to click buttons with the beat! Again, great work!

Very jealous of your creation and would love to hear, conceptually, how you solved the music-click syncing. I love this theme too much to not do something similar myself soon.

Feels free to take a look at my creation at [Story Collabs](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/story-collabs) and my team's at [Mobile in the Automobile](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/mobile-in-the-automobile). Oh and then there's my friend's Compo [Not the pixels](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/not-the-pixels) as well. Cheers!

Indeed, I closed down the server temporarily as I didn't expect any visitors unless I created blog posts/commented on others about it. I'll put it up when I get home from work in a couple of hours! Thanks for trying to play, though!

Story Collabs by Maakep 2018-05-05T17:39:47Z

@kpded there is no way to edit your submissions - you can, however, downvote yourself which will remove the submission if enough people downvote it. It was a small typo though, not worth downvoting imo! Thank you for your submission, defining our character's struggles!

Thanks @Jupiter_Hadley, and thank you for creating the character for the story! Go Jewels, the deadly rapper!

Story Collabs by Maakep 2018-05-11T10:52:23Z

Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone.

@cristiano.m.garcia will do!

@veztron Yeah, I was thinking about putting it into "rooms", so that you could create your own Story Collabs and then share a room code, it might come in the future if I spend more time on this, it's definitely something I'd like to expand my knowledge on. Great feedback, thanks.

@RockhopperGames Yeah, I had some feedback that suggested only being able to downvote/remove the latest, but that kind of enforcement went against my initial philosophy; that this community is smart enough to collaborate on a professional level; that we should be able to create amazing things even without hard restrictions.

@ZaneDD For now, only one active room!

First feature I'll implement is probably a "finishing the story"-feature to archive it and also being able to read archived stories. Then creating private "rooms".

Here's the previous story btw:

Bully squares by kpded 2018-05-05T16:44:48Z

You win! Woohoo!

Great job, I was totally immersed in your game and I'm struggling to come up with feedback. Good use of the theme as well!

But from a quick analysis, the strength of your game is the satisfying feeling of popping a lot of squares at once and the level design could probably have played more to that strength. Another satisfying feeling is the gold gained from popping squares, combining these two is a powerful synergy, more gold for each square the more you pop in a single pop.

One slighly annoying bug where certain shapes didn't pop all the linked squares.

Froggy Froschy by Likirus 2018-05-05T21:32:17Z

Alright! Finally got through the entire game. As you can tell from the highscores, I'm a fan of your game! Those 3 jumps over the spikes at the final level almost had me crying from frustration.

The obvious feedback: audio & graphics could improve.

Other than that, SPACE shouldn't be the only button to restart after death, I'd like to play the game with mouse only from time to time.

BBall by carlosvVk 2018-05-05T23:06:35Z

`You won!!`

Great job! Unfortunately it's too hard, you'll likely find yourself exploiting corners to spam bullets which I found most efficient, rather than utilizing multitasking abilities - and I'm a big fan of multitasking games like these.

Great job with the gameplay though, it runs smooth and the idea is solid!

NEED FOR DEFENSE by trulyspinach 2018-05-05T21:54:01Z

Cool idea, and take on the theme! I enjoyed it but it got a bit chaotic with the camera. Could've needed some kind of acceleration adjustment with W/S for example, to increase precision if you'd like to take it to the next level. It's definitely a great idea!

Holy moly, are you kidding me. This is great! Great use of the theme, excellent execution. Just well done, I love a good multitasking game and this works out in so many ways. Definitely one of the best I've played this jam. Sorry I can't come up with any constructive feedback!

Doodle & Destroy by spierek 2018-05-06T12:25:41Z

Great concept and great execution! Well done! A tip for future Ludum Dares, multiplayers are hard to play alone, which most of us are when we're testing LD games.

But I feel you; I do not practice what I preach. Feel free to come try my community driven textbased MMO adventure [Story Collabs](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/story-collabs)

The game looks and works great, it's a genius idea and the concept could easily become a virally popular genre. Love it! It gives me old custom wc3 map-vibes!

CardPG by CeeJap 2018-05-12T18:21:31Z

I suggest you adding some text about what you were going for; future features etc. Like the others have noted, interesting take on the theme. Could become neat.

You write > I was aware that the cards were unclear

Were there any feature, other than discarding for health?

Super Platformer RPG by Silent Tower Games 2018-05-05T17:33:25Z

Cute game, well executed and a fun take on the theme!

The game, however, as it is right now is quite boring. The combat, unless I've misinterpreted something, is mindless and the platformer is quite mindless as well. Missing a jump gives me a sort of annoyed feeling; that I didn't something wrong, it's the game that a tad too fast, I'd say. 10-20% slower overall (movement, jump, fall) would probably feel better (I know this is hard to balance when you spend loads of hours testing your own game).

Other than that, it's a really neat game. It looks great, sounds great and runs great/smooth. It's has some great and polished features that really defines the game. And playing games made with javascript just gives me a great feeling.

Late for Love by Gaze Team 2018-05-05T23:51:02Z

Looks wonderful and plays really smoothly. It fits the theme very well. I guess the nature of the theme is to blame for the game being somewhat boring. I'd love to see more text and more complex questions to answer. It's a great concept, I could really relate but while coding, not driving
