Weirdly moody. Interesting to see that with such simple graphics.
Very simple but feels like a triple A. Very good balance and instant feeling of immersion!
I love the style of this game. The graphics and the style are the most interesting aspects. As for gameplay, I found that every new thing I encountered I died. I understand this is a design decision, but it can get frustrating.
Overall a good game for the jam.
I enjoyed my play though, however, i would rather a method of playing the game in which you don't have to deliberately die at certain points - for example opening the draw bridge - this could incorporate a skill throw or something to trigger the lever instead of you having to die. The only reason i mentioned this is because after i walked a while to get to the draw bridge section, having successfully not died by enemies, i was then forced to die and walk back.
But the mood was well done, and the immersion was fairly well thought out.
The only criticism i have is that the theme could have been incorporated more thoughtfully in relation to gameplay.
Neat concept. I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/Y2UiyhFvqPg
Nice art style! I really liked the mood
Nice graphics! They're clean with very smooth animations-- also, it seems you implemented some post-processing effects (if so, good use). The mood was pretty decent, especially for a 2D side-view game. The gameplay started to feel a little repetitive by the end; I will say, however, that I was glad there were checkpoints. I feel like the theme could have been used more effectively, but overall, not too bad!
Alright, the mood was decent like the above comments are saying.
The concept is nothing new but it's a fun concept to play around with as a level designer. This is the biggest point of criticism I have; the level design was exceptionall boring. There was nothing puzzly or challenging with it, only tedious and repetitive. The enemies gave no challenge what so ever and there was no satisfaction from killing them.
I'm going to assume you didn't have too much time to do a good level design (it happens to us all sometimes )
Compare the game to a game like Ninja Gaiden and notice the difference in how enemies placement are used in a challenging way.
Also, placing the checkpoints before the mandatory suicide points would've been appreciated.
Was there an end? When I got to the (I assume) end I respawned at the start.
How did you make the ground? It has some interesting shapes and seems to be in one piece, while the game is 2D(?). Is it one large image with a polygon collider?
Nice mood!. Unfortunaltely there were not enough checkpoints. Imo there should be a checkpoint at the end of every long walking section without fight, and also a checkpoint at the end of every encounters with ennemies. Other than that I had fun playing this little action platformer. Good work!
Nice concept! I liked how the simple sounds and graphics were so inmersive. Cool work!
I like the overall mood created with the color palette and sound effects. Some of the sections seemed too long without anything happening, although this invoked a very uneasy feeling in me, so....good job??! Unfortunately it becomes tedious with the checkpoints being so far between. Nevertheless, I enjoyed playing!
