Heym interresting but difficult to master control scheme. The game is simple but fun to play. In that case, I appreciate that the level is not random as we can try to opptimise the path (otherwise, we would need to see further away to plan trajectories)

Nice game! I love the expanding sun, very ominous. The audio track is nice and calming in contrast, which I enjoyed a lot. I thought the game itself was super difficult, but it's probably just me! Thanks for posting! I had fun!

I really really like this. I'm terrible at it but I kept playing over and over anyway.
Music is great and shout out to the little "dink" sound effect when you hit a space rock, huge fan of that.
The game is very well put together. The controls are a bit hard to master. The audio and visuals are pretty smooth, and that sun just looks so evil. Physics are great. Overall, very good game.
Good stuff. Very easy to pick up and play. Took me a while to realised that the planets had a gravity well. (They do have a gravity well, right, or is that just my imagination?) The art was simple, but the graphical design was clear enough to hold it all up. The sun and burning effects were nice.
Thanks for playing & the feedback guys! The game is indeed hard, by design! I believe many games today are way too forgiving and the "challenging" aspects are often lessen to a point of you, more or less, being guided through the game. While this grinding/perfectioning design isn't great for Ludum Dare since you can't spend too much time on every game, I still believe you will have much greater rewarding experience when you finally beat it! I'm personally a fan of games like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, Mega Man, Enter the Gungeon, etc.

Okay game overall, Couldn't quite get into it as there seemed to be no real goal other than to survive and to get points. That isn't a bad thing so to speak but may have impacted my review and ratings as I didn't feel like playing it after a few tries. A bit of work and this could have some potential if more mechanics other than fule and doing was implemented like more powerups, and as well with a leaderboard, I see this becoming an addictive side game.

I really like the control scheme, it's hard but it's innovative. I also like how the game handles when you go off screen: the UI is perfect and it's a good way to avoid obstacles, with the risk to be timed out. That's good game design here :smiley:
It took me a few tries to get the hang of, but then I was able to get pretty far before crashing into a planet and being engulfed in flames. I loved the theme idea!

Rad audio and thruster visuals
The mechanic feels good and sound cool music. The visuals are juicy and work well, though: - I can't tell when the thrusters max out - The way you can move out of the edges of the screen is not fun at all - The limited thrust use makes the game way too hard and much less interesting than it could have been. Conserving thrust to pickup more thrust becomes just about the entire point, and if you miss one you're basically boned. - The charge-up-then-go sort of thrust doesn't feel like a fit with the real-time approaching nature of the danger. The charge-up feels much more like it would fit a turn-based game better. Getting immediate thrust feels better for a game of this real-time nature.

cool game - the boosting mechanic was a lot of fun and the grav pull from the planets was a cool touch. definitely enjoyed playing!
The boosting felt nice, especially with the added sound. It was however mighty difficult! It would be more fun if the game was a bit more forgiving.
Amazing you made a simulation of life in Northern Europe in the summer of 2018.
Every LD there are two or three games I remember and that I come back and play, this is one of those ones for me this time around. Love the gameplay, graphics, and the mood, and the difficulty is just about right that I feel as though I make progress with each retry.

Game is made for replaying, it pisses you off just enough to try one more time :D Tough as nails, too. Guess I'm not cut to be an astronaut. Good game!

@tigerj Thanks for streaming, and thanks for the good input. I think we generally agree with pretty much all things you said. Oh and the offscreen mini-camera was very much inspried by Super Smash bros, like you said. It even follows you around the screen and points towards you, sadly you won't see this because the camera is fixed to the Spaceships X coordinate.
I'm glad I played this one, a proper challenge! And then again, addicting to boot; had to force myself to stop!
Got to some sort of asteroid slalom with loads of fuel and spacemen to pickup, then crashed into a group of nasty lava rocks... Sure, the level is not random, a smart move as random generators are hard to get right in a jam, so I could keep memorizing the level and finally get to the end. *I'll be back for my fix, no doubt...*
The view distance is a bit short for the *fly in a straight line* movement system. Planetary gravity is too inconsistent to use effectively, after all I don't really want to get close to those things to begin with. I would have preferred slight turning controls while the thrusters are flaring. In other words: if I tap the button the ship flies in a straight line; if I press, hold and release the button, the ship can be controlled for about a second while the charge lasts. Weaving between asteroids and planets would feel even better than the current, already quite juicy, controls. *How about mouse rotation input too?*
My last gripe is with the scoring system. The challenge of staying alive is so great that there really isn't much time to actually pick-up them dudes. I ended up ramming into a couple, mostly by accident. A few possibilities here: - Keep it as it is. Suitable for those who wish to invest hours into mastering the controls and trying to get a high score. Others can just not care about the score. - Remove fuel. With infinite thrusting survival is less difficult and score can be prioritised. - Remove the astronauts. Who gives about saving humanity! Score the fuel left over, or the amount of thrusts used, or the time spent near planets and other hazards. There are lots of options! Even more if the level was endless.
Satisfactory audio-visuals all around. Space is quite easy to get right, another smart design choice that! Theme and innovation are the least impressive aspects here, adequate I'd say. Some innovation points for the thruster charging.

Nice entry, I blasted myself to space and didn't notice my fuel ran out for the first time without picking any fuel on the way haha. I grasped the idea quickly after this and found the core idea very interesting, the visuals very nice and the atmosphere together with the audio enjoyable. Even playing forth the game was quite unforgiving to my skill level but I still found overall game very well done. Nice job!
Really fun little game, Getting a hang of the controls and inertia was challenging but enjoyable! Well done.
