LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Last Stand by glimaleite 2018-05-14T17:09:20Z

Hey really cool idea i'd love to see an updated future version of this with everything ironed out. There was quite a few bugs, to name a few the respawn timer glitched out and was saying like 9,8,5,9,4,10,7,3,9,1,etc very annoying also i died twice without actually having lost any health so that was abit disapointing but i could see this concept being very fun after bug fixes and and with some upgrades. Overall great job! :)

Shootanoid by drludos 2018-04-27T19:49:09Z

Hey, was a little tricky to start off with but got the hang of it. I liked the graphics nice a simple. the sound was a little loud but other than that not bad at all.

Apocalypse Tycoon by javicepa 2018-04-23T15:34:13Z

Great game. Found it very challenging, the weapons didn't seem to do much damage and i didn't find a way to restore health, didn't make it to the end but i loved the art style, and the vocal sound effects and music was a nice touch. I found it pleasant. Overall great game :)

Our Hero - A intriguing look at the life of an old hero by stormburpee 2018-04-24T12:08:11Z

I couldn't get the game to work (HTML5), just the blue screen and nothing followed after the loading sequence.

So after downloading it for windows it worked fine. There was a couple of bugs i went through the walls once and enemies could hit me even though i couldn't hit them. And dead enemies absorbed arrows when fired but the game was playable.

Few feedback notes, i would of liked to be able to close the inventory with E the same key to open it just a little change, and the text being displayed at the top of the screen i only read once because it vanished too fast and most of the time i did notice it popping up. Finally the combat mechanics could of been improved upon.

Overall though the game was fun, i played it till the end and enjoyed it. I loved all the different items and upgrades you could get and was a nice experience. Great job.

Dungeon of Amplidi by godsboss 2018-05-11T11:53:21Z

Interesting concept would of liked some instructions found myself just placing stuff not knowing what to do for a while, but i could see a neat little game being built using this idea.

Similize the Savages by silkworm_sweatshop 2018-04-28T19:22:41Z

Great game. The robots was annoying i think i had 5 spawn at once but which slowed progress down but i built back up. Was a nice fun game would love to see more.

Music was perfect sound effects was a bit loud but good. Graphics could of used to some work, for example the school was a lot smaller than anything else.

I loved the gameplay the idea of building the civilisation using just a gun was a pretty cool concept.

I did have problems with the html5 version as RMB was to change weapon which brought up a menu and made me keep running in the single direction until i pressed the button again which was a nuisance but could be fixed by changing the change weapon button to spacebar for example.

Overall awesome game!

Final Click ZX by candlesan 2018-04-28T18:23:18Z

Okay erm wow. I have alot of feedback but that doesn't mean i didn't enjoy the game that means i played it so long that i got this much feedback for you lol.

First off: I really really loved the game, there was so many good things about it and for 48 hours work it's really quite amazing!

Okay so onto the feedback: The voice acting could of been better it didn't take anything away from the game but i don't feel it added much either after a while to start off with it was okay but after the third or fourth time i heard "turret upgraded to level #" it got more annoying than anything.

The music i loved to start with it really fit well but did get a little repetitive but not the most repetitive music i have heard it was only a slight issue

The passive income didn't seem to do that much it felt like it was a bit of waste of money same with the spread shot (Maybe when you get the spread shot it also increases the number of shots as well?)

The progress slowed down quite dramatically the further you went which was a little disappointing i would of liked a nice steady progress.

I can see this game getting places. The concept is amazing and so addictive. If there was more upgrades, more enemies, different ways of earning income i think i would have a lot of fun playing the game and i would play it everyday with enough content in it.

Overall great game one of the best i have seen in the compo! Graphics was spot on, sound effects was great particles really fit in nicely and the movement of enemies was fluid and felt great to shoot at them!

I would love to see more from this game! Good luck if you decide to develop this game further!

Gone Fishin by fenwick 2018-04-24T15:03:12Z

Hey cool game, loved the graphics and had fun playing it. Have one minor issue the boat was a little difficult to control at first because it was so fast i got used to it in the end, also for the first two tries i didn't realise you could move forward and backwards figured it out in the end though. Overall decent game, i enjoyed it.

Townsman (City-Builder/Action-Adventure) by Efmi_ 2018-04-23T14:15:00Z

I couldn't buy anymore than 3 ammo at a time yet it was taking $100. Which made it impossible. I also didn't quite understand the GUI The percentage with the green smiley face just kept going down (-150) then it said i died even though i had plenty of health. Was very confusing to be honest. (Sorry if this feedback seemed a bit strong, i just wanted to be honest.)

Townsman (City-Builder/Action-Adventure) by Efmi_ 2018-04-23T14:29:29Z

@Efmi_ Thanks for the clarification makes a bit more sense now. I noticed the bullets had a little splash damage but i didn't think it was that great so i never used it. Maybe i should of lol

Photonic by Justintime4u2bu 2018-04-28T19:42:17Z

Hmm. Couldn't shoot at all, i went a while without being detected then i got detected (due to no way to get through) the sound effects scared the hell outa me. (didn't realise the game had sound effects till then) and the score stayed on 0 the whole way through so i didn't know what i was supposed to be doing.

Good concept though and use of the theme, would of liked to of been able to play it.

Photonic by Justintime4u2bu 2018-04-28T21:31:06Z

@Justintime4u2bu Thanks for the clarification, i understand the hesitation i would be the same maybe on the bottom of your LD page you should add in heading (using 2 Hashtags before the text something along the lines of

""#IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Hold LMB to shoot, pressing does not work."

I would place it directly above the download link (the very bottom of the description) May look tacky but if it helps people understand then it should be good.

Plenty of Fish by PaterJosch 2018-04-24T15:12:10Z

Really amazing game, had a lot of fun. The only things i can think to improve the game would be the soundtrack, the sound effects where great but the soundtrack got a little repetitive. and i would of liked the game to be abit longer (i was having fun playing it)

Onto what i liked about the game: I really loved the graphics so simple and nice and set a lovely mood for the game, the different things you could catch was interesting and kept me playing for a while longer than i probably should of lol. And i liked the use of the theme fishing and dating sim pretty unusual and cool combination.

CCC: Cyber City CAB by Yetman 2018-04-28T19:32:27Z

Honestly not my type of game but i'm gonna try not to let that get in the way of feedback:

The music was a nice fit but could of been a bit more upbeat with the whole police chase kinda theme going on

Graphics was very good i loved the look of the cars and the buildings they fit really nicely together.

The main thing i disliked was the camera rotation i found it a bit disorienting and i was just smashing into walls all the time, however the controls was fine. I think one thing that would of helped would of been a basic minimap.

Overall i did find it fun even though it wasn't really for me personally, but i could see other people really enjoying the game.

Well done it is a nice polished game that i couldn't find any bugs with at all. Good job!

Crazy Race by Joton Ferreira 2018-04-23T17:52:18Z

Great concept, nice work combining the two genres. One worrying thing is AVG was detecting malware while i was playing. Not sure if this is a bug or something. Other than that great work.

Forest Grow by James Leib 2018-04-23T14:27:45Z

Really cool game game. Overall really good. Intesting concept. I only have i think 2 minor bits of feedback. The mouse moved alot faster horizontally so was a little difficult to control. And the bullet collisions wasn't perfect but still managed to get quite far and had fun doing it :) Thanks for sharing.

Geom by ddolgov 2018-05-04T23:51:18Z

Awesome game but damn don't that difficulty ramp up quick. Would of been nice if the difficulty went up steady going from was it 75hp or 15hp (the second one) to 200 was wow, and it could heal and had the same grid as mine (Think it would of been better to have the stage2 health with the 4x4 grid as the third enemy then maybe 150hp with 4x4 grid as 4th? Just some thoughts.

Overall though great little game, really fun to play. I enjoyed it alot!

Deep space - cards battle by Serious07 2018-04-22T22:16:06Z

Awesome game. Had a good time playing it. I have a few bits of feedback:

The movement was very strange to start off with took a little while to get used to, but after a minute or so it seemed fine. (so only a small thing)

The enemies (destructible's) stay on the screen for a long while after being destroyed. it would of been nice if they would of clear a bit quicker, i found my eyes kept going back to them while they was on the screen just incase i hit them.

I wasn't sure what the bar at the bottom was ( i assumed it was the end of level progress bar) if it was then the level in my personal opinion was too long. I couldn't fill it any more than a quarter of the way to a third. (Could just be me though)

That's just some constructive criticism for you, but other than that the game was great, love the graphics. the sound was pretty good and i had fun playing it. Will be rating when i can :)

Nightmare Clicker by Merotar 2018-05-07T14:36:15Z

Had a big problem with the text it was just a pixel for each character or something it looked very strange just had red pixels floating off all the enemies and couldn't see what was going on. But the game idea is interesting and i can see it being really fun with some a bit of work.

Sound Space by GoodKenneth 2018-04-24T11:51:34Z

Amazing great job. Had alot of fun playing i died at the literally the last second which was disappointing lol it got alot harder at the end. The only feedback i have was on occasion i was pressing the keys to the beat just like milliseconds off the beat and it wouldn't fire or move, i think adding a little more leeway when you can hit the keys would of made the movement and shooting more fluid.

I think the difficulty was perfect graphics looked great, the music sounded awesome and had a nice beat to it so that made it easier to stick with the beat

Overall great job, really enjoyed the game!

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-23T07:53:40Z

@Serious07 Thanks for the feedback. music is where i lack the most and didn't want to ruin it with something not worth listening, i'll take it all into account for the next one, Thanks again :)

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-23T14:05:37Z

@Tutti Ankka Thanks a lot for the feedback :) I'll defiantly give adding them a try. I enjoyed making the game so i'm thinking of continuing it after the grading is finished :)

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-23T15:18:32Z

@Merotar Thanks a lot for the feedback :) I found it quite hard to dodge near the end and i was worried the game was going to be too easy so i left the car pretty slow. I kinda wanted it to feel like a close shave everytime one missed you to add a bit of excitement. Maybe adding vehicle upgrades might be a way to go in the future of this game? Thanks again for the feedback and kind words

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-23T17:47:33Z

@Marcial Thanks glad you enjoyed the game. Yeah i'll give it a look now :)

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-24T17:35:42Z

@Kobrar Thanks alot for the kind words, with all the great feedback i'm getting i will be continuing development! :)

@benskca Thanks for the feedback, i agree music would add a lot to the game, i didn't want to ruin it by adding my own music (I'm not very good at sound tracks lol). Control over the ally cars does sound interesting i'll have to look into it further. Thanks again

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-25T11:45:11Z

@3DLeon Thanks for the feedback. When i develop games i like to fix bugs and test alot as i go so there's less to deal with at the end :), Glad you enjoyed it!

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-25T19:11:58Z

@Panagiotis Iatrou Really glad you enjoyed it :) If you have any feedback or anything i can improve on i'd love to hear it. Thanks again for the comment :)

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-28T21:26:20Z

@TheMonsterFromTheDeep Thanks alot for the feedback i love the idea of being able to shoot rockets out of the sky. After LD41 is over i will be continuing development of the game i'll be sure to add that idea. Someone else mentioned the difficulty in dodging enemies, i think what i'm going to do is have the players vehicle upgradable in the future so you can upgrade damage, firerate, movement speed, acceleration etc... Thanks again for your feedback!

@Yetman Thanks alot for the feedback, the bikes can be tricky there is a nack to them which i liked during development i do agree with you however that they are difficult to see i will be fixing that issue in the near future. I'm glad you enjoyed the game and thanks again for the feedback!

Carnage by EddyNeave 2018-04-30T09:54:51Z

@Erkberg Thanks alot for the feedback. Because of starting the LD abit late i didn't want to make it too complicated so i looked at what the simplest i could make the game while still being able to tell it's a driving - castle/tower defence game. I do think it needs alot adding to it to become a better game and represent the genres abit more so i will be working on that in the future :) Thanks again for the feedback!

Wreck 'em! by Panagiotis Iatrou 2018-04-22T21:57:54Z

Pretty good. Love the graphics. Gameplay was simple but fun. Played till i maxed out the upgrades.

Difficulty was good but could of done with getting a little harder the further you played. It seemed to start off that way but just stopped getting harder after a few seconds. The only real con i could see/hear was the music, very repetitive, i enjoyed the music at the start, but it got abit to much after half a minute or so.

All in all a Great little game. Will rate when i can :)

Brute Force Art Defence by Shellfish Games 2018-04-27T20:06:55Z

Really great concept and i found it very fun. Audio could do with improving and graphics didn't really pop at me but the gameplay and concept i loved. I did find it difficult to figure out how to select a tower and place it down (because you have to click so low on the card) and the card tower defence works really well together. Overall i had a lot of fun playing and did enjoy it.

Bloodsport by _str1pe 2018-04-24T11:37:06Z

Not sure why but i found this game incredibly difficult. I purchased like 4 assault then spent the rest of my points on upgrades (Which didn't seem to do anything) and i couldn't last anymore than 8 seconds seconds. Maybe i spent the points wrong i'm not sure. But a tips screen or something similar would of been nice on the purchase upgrade screen. Other than that i love the concept and even though i kept loosing i had fun.

Bloodsport by _str1pe 2018-04-24T14:57:20Z

@_str1pe Thanks for the clarification. I went with range mostly then vitality, but it always seemed like the enemy team had 5 extra players so i think i should of gone with players and speed to start of with :)
