I couldn't buy anymore than 3 ammo at a time yet it was taking $100. Which made it impossible. I also didn't quite understand the GUI The percentage with the green smiley face just kept going down (-150) then it said i died even though i had plenty of health. Was very confusing to be honest. (Sorry if this feedback seemed a bit strong, i just wanted to be honest.)

@EddyNeave Thankyou for your feedback :) I should have propably said it in tips, but the shots make blast damage when they hit, and that smiley face was a leftover of a feature I removed in last second.
@Efmi_ Thanks for the clarification makes a bit more sense now. I noticed the bullets had a little splash damage but i didn't think it was that great so i never used it. Maybe i should of lol

This idea is really interesting, and I think there's a lot of potential in this game.
Obviously it's a jam so it's understandable, but with more types of buildings, enemies, and a bit more polish, I can see this game becoming something really fun and intriguing.
Good work coming up with a very cool idea!

Great Job @Efmi_ ! It was awesome to watch this game come together on the stream! And it's really cool to be able to play it now, There was one issue where I lose health when nothing was touching me, but other than that bug, I really enjoyed it! PS: it's just as terrifying when I play it too, so now I understand why the super's kept scaring you! haha

This is overall a fun little top-down shooter. With more bullets or more money, this can be even more fun game to play.

It said I could buy 10 ammo for 100 money, but it kept only giving me 3.

Compo version has the thing where after a few days monsters start infinite spawning, I had to try post-compo version since it looked like there is some building branch complexity behind the game. Sadly I couldn't see much of that, all I could do was upgrade town hall once and build houses (which seem to not have purpose) or maybe I failed to figure something out. The game concept is more promising than it appears on the first look, shooting action is smooth and ability to build stuff along the way is cool. it would be great if there was more useful stuff to be built, good idea in any case. The way in which stronger zombies enter (running right at you and sound effect) is well done, gives them some character. Zombies wanting to kill the mayor in particular score some humor points.

@kr4ft3r Thankyou for your feedback. I'd like to say that the post-compo version has the infinite zombie spawning bug fixed. So the thing with the houses, is that they give you additional money, every now and then. But you can only buy them when you got yourself a workshop. I hope that this cleared some things out :)

Got swamped at day 15/11. Seems to be too werighted around going back to buy bullets. I think there's potential to improve a lot with a bit more balancing.

It's a neat idea and a solid foundation for a very interesting game, but there are some bugs and problems ruining the fun a little bit: (I played the bugfixed version) - I did not know how I took damage. The zombies always followed me, but as far as I could tell didn't touch me, still I took damage. Maybe it was damage to the buildings, but there was no feedback for this and overall I had no idea how to prevent damage. - The game does not reset correctly after death, the number of used spaces stays the same as in the previous run and I could not build anything. - It would be nice to be able to buy ammo multiple times without leaving and re-entering the town hall.
Overall though, I enjoyed the game and played through it (won on day 33/10, so there's another small bug ^^), good job!

I would have loved to add some kind of effect when the player takes damage but didn't really have time to implement that. (Zombies deal ranged damage)

I played the Jam version and then the updated version, the start menu is a bit wordy, there's like a whole paragraph to read to understand the basics I think it could probably be summarized or implemented more effectively, I know first hand how obtuse it can be to design a 2D game in Unity during a jam (*cough* my LD 40 entry sucked) anyways, if your looking to update the game I'd like suggest a few things:
-the town hall and the houses should probably use different sprites, it could be confusing when scaling Townsman up to find a townhall in a sea of small townhall lookalikes
-the zombies could use a visualization for ranged attacks like throwing a weapon (or spitting blood a la 28 days later)
-more ammo when purchasing from the town hall or have ammo scale up as the townhall is upgraded
though I don't want to seem like I'm commandeering your creativity, It's a good Ludum dare compo game! and it's up to you to decide whats best for Townsman! I'd love to see more updates to this!
