Very clever take on the theme! This game is fun. A bit of more guidance into the rules would have been helpful, but fun nevertheless. As @james-dunlap said, I'd love to play this ad a mobile game.

I love the atmosphere of this game: the art style, the colors, the background music… It's also very rewarding to kill those tiny people :) At first I had some problems with the controls, but I ended up getting the hang of it.
Well done! :)
The waves are fun to ride and shoot while you are in air. It's fun although I believe a bit of background music would have been great. I always admire those who can pull out a 3D game for the compo, congrats!
I think I told you already, but I LOVE the concept and how well it fits the theme. I like how "roguelike" it feels as well. Congrats, this is a really nice entry
The controls feel really nice and the weapon upgrades are satisfying. Good job!
I really love the music tune in this one!
The mood is great in this one, aided a lot by the music and sfx. A solid take in the theme, well done :)
Solid mechanic, it reminds me of good old arcade games like Bomb Jack. The music felt a bit repetitive after a while, but the SFX are fun. Good job!
This is a fresh idea, although not super intuitive at first. Fun to play, nevertheless.
The graphics are fantastic, as well as the music! But I found the controls somewhat frustrating. Great game, though!
It took me a little while to figure out the combat, but it's fun! I love the art and the music
It's a nice and fun concept! Maybe I would have like it more if you already started with two squares already, so the player could be more engaged with the main mechanic. The music is fun as well. Good job
Good idea and its the theme! I think some SFX would help to give some feedback on what's going on, but I can see myself playing this as a mobile game. Well done!
This is the cutest game! I love the art and the music, and it really fits the theme. Some of the characters are significantly harder to play than others, and once there two of them at one jumping it gets really tricky. This would be a really nice mobile game. Congrats!
I really like how the character that gives the code/clues speaks. The game is quite original, and I really loved the last code! My only "complaint" is that for the second one I had to reload the game to see the room that I missed because I couldn't find a way to "scroll" the screen. Other than that, quite fun and good job!
Loved the graphics and the cute SFX! The mechanics for the churros were fun to play
Congrats for the game! It's a well-rounded, polished submission. The game mechanic is quite interesting, although I'm clumsy for these types of games (it took me 6:46 to fetch all the barrels in easy mode). I love the whole mood of the game, set by a coherent art style, nice post-processing effects and a fitting music track.
This is quite fun and impressive for just a few hours of development! I loved the mechanic, I got to 167m after a few tries :)
Hi! Is there a way to play this without a Roblox account? Thanks
Fun and addictive, well done! I don't know if you plan to port it to mobile, but it would be awesome
Thanks everyone for playing the game and for leaving useful feedback <3
@Jeffez @quetzakol @jason-wilson You're right about the ending, that is not clear enough. Ideally, I would have wanted that with each run something _changed_ and the player could somehow lift the looping curse… Or at least tell the player what the curse was more explicitly! I agree it can be confusing. But I was so pressed with time that I couldn't wrap the ending properly.
@elendow @tom-robson @ithildin you are absolutely right, ideally the levels should be somewhat different or at least a bit nicer to explore. Changing the keys position is a nice idea, indeed!
@tomh1 yes, you're right. I did try doing so but couldn't fine tune it enough and sometimes the player could close the dialogues unintentionally. Since I didn't have a mechanism to repeat them and they're somewhat important to understand what's going on, I decided to put closing/advancing them in a separate key. But you're right, and if I continue working on the game and release a post-jam version this is something I'd like to fix.
@finntastico the silly part is that I drew a walking animation! But in the end I ran out of time and couldn't include it. I'm leaving it here as a GIF because I do think it's cute even if it's just 2 frames :)

This is the best jam game I played so far, it's fun and engaging, and the art is superb. If I had to say something to improve would be upgrades balance, it's kinda obvious what the best strategy is (improve the laser asap) and once you reach the best laser upgrade then the rest is kinda easy. But nevertheless, I had a blast playing it and I did get to the end. Congratulations for such a great game!
I really like how the music, sound effects and art complement each other to create a fun mood. Well done!
I like how the shooting works with parabolic shots, so it takes a bit of mastery to actually be able to kill enemies. The music is nice and I liked the sound effects as well. Well done! :)
This in an interesting concept, and I loved the bookshelves and the details on them. BTW, in case you'd like to fix it, I tried to play the game with Firefox first, but hundreds of web audio errors were logged into the console and the audio sounded a bit like a modem from the 90s. I switched to Chrome and I could play the game without issues there.
I like the vibe and the atmosphere and I kept playing until I finished it. Good job! My only "but" is that I managed to unlock the final password having missed the previous one (just by guessing) so I had still one folder to unlock and I missed part of the story.
This is one of my favorite ld48 games so far. The jumping, movement, etc. feels really nice and fine-tuned. It took me a few attempts, but I managed to beat the game and had lots of fun in doing so. Good job!
I love the aesthetics and the music of this game, they're coherent and original. Gameplay is fun, maybe I had a bit of a hard time understanding what's going on (for instance, why sometimes the character would take damage by falling and sometimes not). The mini intro at the beginning is super-polished, something you rarely see in a game jam. Congrats for such a good game!
The dungeon map is balanced and exploring feels good! Controls could be a bit more accurate, but not a big deal. I couldn't find a way to close the "scroll" with a quote, I think an in-line modal with control info could have been useful in this regard! Anyways, this is a cool entry
@quinn-patrick I use the spacebar for the sword. For the scroll, I tried Spacebar, and also Enter and Escape.
Good job! The art style and music are cute, although I found it a bit difficult to distinguish the character from the background. Also, I think I got somewhat lucky in one of my falls because I didn't get to see the lava. Congrats for finishing the game!
Hi, this was fun and I did beat the game :) I'm fond of the naïve aestetics for the game. It's consistent and effective, even though the dialogues and buttons need more polish.
About the controls, jumping felt very floaty but I still could beat the game. Something that felt a bit unfair, though, is that I wasn't able to see where the platform I was supposed to land was.
And audio was broken for me (so I didn't rate this category), but I don't know if it's a Unity issue with web audio or something else.
Overall, a good entry and congrats for finishing the Ludum Dare in compo mode, it's always super hard :)
This was fun to play although it doesn't really fit the theme. Anyway, good controls, and firing the laser felt really satisfying!
Cool concept! I didn't get super far, but it was a nice mix between finding treasure / explore and managing oxygen
This is very, very cute and I have to play it again to see if I can get farther (I've only managed to deliver to two characters). I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if it wasn't turn based but nevertheless this was fun and I loved the whole mood.
@threeli I found it a bit frustrating in the northern area, where there's some kind of wall/fence with a very narrow entrance and you need to scroll through different areas to get it. It was swarmed with enemies and it was really difficult to predict their movement and learn where to move to avoid them… specially with the stress of running out of light and warmth.
To be fair, I'm not _that_ used to play turn-based rogues, so that might be the issue here :) Anyways, it's a great submission, and just wanted to congratulate you again for a very good job.
I love the idea, but I couldn't beat the game because I had lots of difficulty to jump out of a carved section in the wall. I think I could have benefited from a bit of "coyote time". Nevertheless, the jumping feels solid, the asthetics and sfx serve the game well, and all of this results in a polished entry. Good job!
Fun game! Could really be nice to play on mobile. Congrats for your first game and also for finishing the jam
@rcxa @michael-macha @bonemane thanks for playing the game and providing feedback! I really appreciate it :)
Hi @historymaker118 I forgot about the BBS, thanks for the heads up! Just posted it, you can find it at https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=141743
Thanks everyone for the feedback! <3
Thanks everyone for the feedback, it really helps!
@historymaker118 @dhim @dzejpi you’re right about having more mini games. My plan was to put one per different action, but it was one of things I had to cut off from scope because I ran out of time.
@dhim the key layout is indeed a PICO-8 thing but in retrospective I think mouse controls would have worked better.
Thanks again everyone for playing and being so kind to leave a comment! I really appreciate it.
@wisstopher I almost bought a Tamagotchi this week
@miku you're absolutely right in that the mini-game needs more refining and tuning. Also, probably more variety.
Hi, I'm a bit confused as well. I spoke with everyone, and then with the mayor and checked out the temples, but the UI didn't allow me to pick up any of the items I found. I'm sure I'm missing something! That aside, I think the sprites look great (sp the main character one) and I loved the ambience sound of the sea waves.
Hey thanks for making a web browser build! The game idea is nice, although it took me a while to learn what to do exactly.
I love this! It truly has the vibes of a classic arcade. The core mechanic is simple but very addictive, and the grey carrot hazard works great. Graphics and SFX work well and the whole game just feels very polished.
Cool mechanics, the AI is not very challenging but I think it would be really interesting to play against a human player :)
Beautiful game!
I found the mood and aesthetics of this game quite pleasant. However, I'm not sure why I hit game over. Is it one of the red lights? Something else? There's an SFX of a gong/chime that played a few times, was unsure if it was a good or a bad thing happening…
But the mechanics of knowing when to spend your light to illuminate and then remembering the level is quite interesting.
hi! a visual novel with spiders, I didn't see that one coming :) I got to the part of the minigame of catching flies, but after losing it I got an IndexedDB error Screenshot 2024-10-07 at 8.19.17 PM.png
