Graphics are awesome :) good mood but why when you fall you lose life ?

jamie-simpson 2021-04-27 12:24

In my eyes - this is a proper, well polished game. The only problem is that i could not understand how the game worked, there are some mechanics that go unexplained, I tried replaying the game to understand how it works but its too confusing. a short description of how the game works is always helpful.

seeko-studios 2021-04-27 15:59

@mrsamafu Thank you for the feedback! Regarding the falling you mentioned the idea of it is that you fall without your consent and it hurts you, I guess? Idk, we just thought it would be cool hahhaha.

@jamie-simpson Thank you for the feedback! We were aware that some things might seem confusing, the first 5 zones are mostly meant to introduce 1-2 concepts each, but it was a bit crammed so I get where your confusion might come from. We will add a description later with what feels weird.

nyanpierre 2021-04-27 17:16

Graphics are really nice :D

llaumegui 2021-04-27 17:33

Nice game with polished visuals and Audio, great work !

mirunao 2021-04-27 17:34

Enjoying the graphics alot!

camden-obertop 2021-04-27 17:36

This is a really cool game! I think that it oozes style and personality, I love the choice to keep the color palette fairly simple with distinct design for the player and enemies. I would agree with other comments about the fall damage feeling a little bit strange of a mechanic, but I liked how dropping on top of enemies did more damage and gave you a bit of the upper hand on them. I think that it fits the theme really well, and I know that this game is going to do well overall!

lepoulet 2021-04-27 17:40

Impressive piece of work. Highly polished and fun. the rules seems a bit confusing. I enjoyed it a lot.

cral 2021-04-27 17:45

Awesome work! The gameplay is fun and fast and it's oozing style! It's missing some feedback I struggle to see why i'm taking damage at times but overall great job!

seeko-studios 2021-04-27 17:45

Thank you all for the feedback! We are glad to hear you liked it!

okamit 2021-04-27 17:48

A bit confusing at first to grasp the controls, but when I got the hang of it it worked very well.

The artstyle and music just overflows with style and is really cool, kind of reminds me of persona 5 in a way.

Great work!

t-c 2021-04-27 17:48

Great sound great visuals! Controls were a bit unintuitive without being told what they are but I figured it out eventually. Good job on this, it's a fun idea!

seeko-studios 2021-04-27 17:49

@cral there were some problems with the timings of some animations that we couldn't fix on time. It probably is an "old" damage that you dragged because you kept moving (not your fault, just explaining where the random damage probably came from). We are looking to fix it asap, but it might take some time. Glad you liked the game even with that!

paulloz 2021-04-27 17:50

This cool probably ship tomorrow, it's kinda insane. You should teach the controls within the game at least a little imho. Apart from that I really don't have much to say. Well done.

la-bread 2021-04-27 18:42

nice visuals and sounds, but I found myself taking damage for no reason sometimes and since the level is preset it feels like a puzzle to get from one room to the next, but I couldn't figure out the route. Good game though.

seeko-studios 2021-04-27 19:03

@la-bread We actually wanted it to be a bit of a mix between a puzzle and an RPG, so I guess we did that well hahhaha. Anyway, glad to see you liked some of our work!

caladrius 2021-04-27 21:22

This is pretty great. Really like the style of it, music and visuals both mesh together well, particularly the art style which I'm genuinely a huge fan of. Thought I broke the game when I picked up coins and it ticked down endlessly before realising I was at the end which was disappointing because I was actually really enjoying myself! I think this could work amazingly as a fully fleshed out roguelite with procedural generation and a whole lot more content.

seeko-studios 2021-04-27 21:42

@caladrius Glad to hear that! We actually thought of continuing it, but we are not sure yet, anyways, ty for the feedback!

maxr00 2021-04-28 02:24

What a cool look! Feels polished, Great job :D

heremeus 2021-04-28 13:17

Good job! Awesome soundtrack and sfx! The game was short and crips with a nice art style. Controls felt good as well. I encountered one bug where I couldn't choose an item from the computer where you choose between sword, armor and potion. Also I'm not quite sure why enemies sometimes killed each other but didn't other times. Overall a great experience!

mizatorian 2021-04-28 13:33

Unfortunately I couldn't play the game as it was too big to fit my screen (1366x768). Gave me Dilbert vibes, hence I wanted to play it. Does the game scale to the screen size on the Windows version. If so, I mage give it another try.

seeko-studios 2021-04-28 15:07

@mizatorian I am sorry to hear that! The windows version should scale on its own, though I am not entirely sure since we unfortunately don't have a monitor to try it out. We will probably be uploading a version that fixes that later today though

seeko-studios 2021-04-28 19:35

@mizatorian hey, the problem with the resolutions should be fixed in the webgl version, if you still want to give it a try

webox 2021-04-29 01:48

Tremendo juego!!! Super pulido, felicitaciones!!

martinek 2021-04-29 17:05

Fun and good looking game. I didn't enjoy the fall damage but other than that, it was great

taikinaaa 2021-04-30 21:28

Short and sweet. I like the turn based-aspect and the music is great! So I take it you lose health if you're on a single screen too long.

wizard-sino 2021-05-01 15:38

This is a very atmospheric game, and the art communicates the mood you were going for extraordinarily well!

moski 2021-05-01 17:06

Bob's restless. Bob will get 'em all!

While I'd say I've played "better games" in the jam, after a few rounds of playing this one, I'm borderline inclined to call it my favorite of the jam to this moment. With its polish, looks, gameplay and vibes, I'm impressed it hasn't been seen as much around.

I'm biased to the art style, which reminds me a lot to styles I'm a big fan of, such as seen in games like Caslte Crashers, but with a more minimalistic, almost noir vibe to it. It looks gorgeous, and it goes hand in hand with the music and sound effects.

And the gameplay is superb too. Very responsive, has a satisfying "snap" to it, feels quick but not rushed and sturdy but not heavy. Giving the player the space to maneuver around, figure out where and how to engage in combat, what items to carry around, it made me feel truly in control.

My only gripe with the game is that I felt at times that I was taking damage for no reason. While I figured out at some point that dropping from ledges caused damage, I am not sure yet if some enemies have ranged attacks or something I cannot see.

But otherwise, this game was fantastic. I cannot stress that otherwise. I'd like to see it as either a roguelike or a full fledged narrative game. This belongs to consoles and online gaming platforms. It's just that good! :whale:

seeko-studios 2021-05-01 18:04

@moski omg, thank you for such a beautiful comment! You literally made our day with that, thank you, for real, we are really glad you liked our game. Regarding the future of the game, we are still not sure whether to carry on or not (if we do, it will most likely be as a rogue-like) but if you want, we will definetly update you once we make a decition (I can give you my discord if you want, or just answer through here, or add me on itch, idk, whichever you prefer works).

morcado 2021-05-01 18:26

I liked the user interface, its very retro, and also mechanics are good and very good feedback. There where some points where I didn't understand what to do, but with some replay I did. Also I was thinking that falling doesn't take damage as is the same as you dig down right?. With some procedural generated levels this game will bi nice Good job

geckoo1337 2021-05-01 20:52

Hello. I came here for the aesthetic and I didn't be disappointed by your project. The main gameplay fits with the theme and mechanics work well. Quickly I understood what it means and what I am suposed to do. I like pattern you use - colored sprits on black background. Great idea. There is a solid story as intro - and a good track. You did a solid game. Well done ++

sine-nomine 2021-05-01 20:56

Slick! The style is top notch, and I thought the sideview roguelike was innovative.

bastienre4 2021-05-01 21:01

A M A Z I N G! Really, the amount of polish is incredible. I love the Persona vibe :p Music is awesome. Gameplay is (very) original. We have a winner here.

baturinsky 2021-05-01 21:13

Looks great, but gameplay could use some more work. Especially level design. I finished the first run without even realising you should press the F to pick up items. just by avoiding all the enemies. Said that, core idea of limiting vertical movement to only down is simple yet smart take at the jam's theme.

ladybenko 2021-05-01 21:28

I love the aesthetics and the music of this game, they're coherent and original. Gameplay is fun, maybe I had a bit of a hard time understanding what's going on (for instance, why sometimes the character would take damage by falling and sometimes not). The mini intro at the beginning is super-polished, something you rarely see in a game jam. Congrats for such a good game!

fedegelo 2021-05-01 23:32

This game looks and sounds awesome. I would say this has the potential to be some full game like skyhill or some others like that. I liked that the enemies had some different patterns that let you play around with, although there were some things I wasn't sure if they were bugs, like some of the would fight in one floor but not in another, and I wasn't so sure what happens when you fall on top of an enemy, to which side will I end up.

The weapon / armor is also handled really well, it's simple yet it lets you decide how to approach things. It's a shame the jam ending was broken but what you can see makes me thing it was going in some #deep way that has double points for the theme.

Overall muy copado che, posta que lo re veo como un skyhill o dice dungeons, un roguelite de ese estilo.

seeko-studios 2021-05-02 00:04

@morcado @geckoo1337 @sine-nomine @bastienre4 @baturinsky @ladybenko thank you all for the feedback. We are really glad you liked our game!

efeckk2 2021-05-02 00:32

Thought my neighbor upstairs was making noise. I took off my headset to understand what was going on. It got silent. I put on my headset back, that noise again. Took off my headset once again and realized it was from the game. Cool music!

Art, the narrative at the beginning were all cool. Gameplay was fun but there could be more levels. Would be better if the levels were procedurally generated tho. That's all I can say. Good job!

sarafilipa 2021-05-02 12:58

Wow, what a fantastic game! So polished, it's hard to believe it's a game jam entry. This might be one of my favourite entries this time around. The graphics are just gorgeous and so clean, the audio fits perfectly, the gameplay is fun and such a great interpretation of the theme. Top marks!

sandra-jasionowska 2021-05-02 13:04

Very polished, but why do I die all the time??? Cool audio, cool mechanics, cool story and great intro!

saintchristopher777 2021-05-02 13:14

Nice work on this! AS with others, it took me 2 tries to figure out some of the controls/mechanics - a brief explanation upfront would be nice.

Art and soundscape are fantastic. I think I even saw a filmgrain effect in there adding to the style. Great work!

room606 2021-05-02 14:35

Very cool graphic and art style. But i guess that music not quite cohesive with the game and art style. Nice 2-d platformyish roguelike. Intro is a an atomic bomb, very cool!

whismirk 2021-05-02 19:32

Gameplay was extremely confusing, and hard to figure out without guidance.

And that is literally the only negative part I can think of, because everything else is just absolutely awesome ! The visuals, the animations, the intro, the music and sound design are all astounding, and the level of polish and work you've put into this is just on another level.

It's incredible you managed to make something look and feel this good during the timeframe; that's the level of quality you'd expect from a released, standalone indie game, not a jam submission. Seriously, well done !

nikolay-zapolnov 2021-05-02 19:43

Hey! Thanks for submitting the game to our stream! This game has great graphics and aestetics. I have also enjoyed the gameplay. Its simple, but fun. I was able to complete the game after I learned that I don't have to fight every enemy

Also you have numbers swapped in in-game boxes and in the menu. But that's a minor thing.

Here is the timed link for the stream: https://youtu.be/vC17EaL3CcI?t=342

evgeniya-zapolnova 2021-05-02 21:14

Nice game with simple, but cool art :) I like your monsters :)))

filgru 2021-05-02 21:50

I love the visuals in this game! Animations are really cool and this far away music at the beginning is awesome. I like this rotation of the lightspot when the character moves. Very nice concept of the game in general. It would be nice to see some continuation of this title in the future! Very funny introduction/closure story after when you finish the game :) Congrats to the whole team!!

luddegodofpain 2021-05-03 21:35

Soo cool

Mad respect yo

azagaya 2021-05-03 22:04

Woooooow, excellent game! Could not expect less from you! Congrats! nothing to complain.

ardorugus 2021-05-05 03:28

Fun step based game with cool mechanics, though I didn't get the Q and other buttons at the first time. Played several times, quite addictive. Sometimes the health was getting low for no reason. Overall, great game, huge kudos!

super-hadoken 2021-05-05 08:56

Great graphics, audio and presentation all round. Good fun but wanted more. Excellent work.

maaxoom 2021-05-07 14:13

Wow that was juicy! :sweat_drops:

nsadie 2021-05-07 19:16

I loved this! The art, music and UI are all excellent and everything just feels good.

I think some of the rules are a bit unintuitive (damage from falling makes sense), but on one level the enemies died as I moved towards them (like 3 blocks away).

dante2001 2021-05-17 23:21

Esta posta muy bueno! 5* a todo! Me alegra ver otro argentino en el LD!!

digital-bacon 2021-05-18 10:30

Gorgeous game! Easy controls, cute graphics, catchy music. Love it! Well done!
