3/5. Would have been better with a bit of music.

3/5. Would have been better with a bit of music.
I don't think you're allowed to use third party music for the compo... (but I may be wrong)
Other than that, neat game ! The physics are very funny, and even the car control is hilarious.
I enjoyed it ! However, while the minigames were quite fun, they get very, very repetitive after some time. But I liked the art style, the music was really awesome and you added a nice tutorial, so good work overall. :D
The art style is unique and very pleasing, the gameplay is really fun, and what a creative way to fit the theme ! This is genuinely one of the most innovative games I've seen so far, and definitively one of my favorites.
Simple but still enjoyable. I liked the references with the clients.
Interesting game ! The design is awesome, it has a really neat psychedelic feel, further improved by the music. I really like the way you implemented the theme too, even if it gets quite challenging after some time when you have to choose between having enough space or getting rid of the enemies. Good work overall, I had a lot of fun !
The concept is really, really interesting, while perfectly fitting the theme. Each level is different and challenging it its own way, and it took me a lot of tries to beat the game, but it was definitively worth it. Good work !
A creative way to fit the theme ! I really like the idea !
Fun game ! But I find the controls quite difficult to master.
Yup. 404 not found.
This is great ! The art is really cute, and the gameplay is simple but very fun ! I was not sure about the ultra low resolution at first, but I quickly got used to it. It has a neat retro feeling. Good work !
I love the idea ! It's pretty fun and challenging. (and throwing drives at these annoying co-workers is really satisfaying !)
It really is beautiful. I love the art style ! The music is quite relaxing too. Definitively a good experience. I wonder... how did you make the "screen" effect with Godot ? :D
This is a pure gem !
I think this might be my favorite so far. The combat is fluid, intense, and just fun ! Overall the gameplay is awesome, and while being simple, still requires a bit of strategy, especially in the last levels. And of course, it perfectly fits the theme ! Maybe it would have even been more interesting and challenging without the bombs, though, as I find that they tend to make the game way easier. Also, art is very nice and has a cool retro feeling. The only thing I disliked is the music, but it is just a matter of personal taste.
I really think you should keep developping it after the jam, as it has a LOT of potential. Anyway, great work !
Wow.
Another Godot user ! o/
But the game crashes on launch for me too, sadly.
"You play as a piece of mozarella with a machinegun, on a pizza." is definitively the most hilarious premise I have ever read, ah ah. The game is really good. Stunning art style (I especially love the design of the ingredients) and fun gameplay, even if it gets a bit repetitive.
Good work !
Interesting concept. I like it. It was still hard to understand what I was supposed to do at first though.
Nice idea, and it really fits the theme. Some of the popups are just hilarious !
It really is an interesting game ! The memory management part reminds me a lot of Faster Than Light. But the difficulty curve should be reversed : the game should be easy at first and then progressively become harder, not the other way around :p ! I would suggest that you add more base energy and weaker enemies at the beginning to let the players get comfortable with the controls.
Anyway, great work !
It looks awesome ! Great graphics, and the gameplay seems fun, however... I just can't play it x). I kill the dummy but the game still doesn't start, no monster wave coming, and I can't do anything else than keeping hitting the poor dummy (still funny though). Even after restarting and killing it again I have the same problem. It's a shame because I would really like to play this game !
@pixels-everywhere My bad, I thought it was only for the monsters, ah ah. I should have tried it though, but I'm just too stupid. Anyway, an awesome and challenging game, great job !
I liked it ! Visually pleasing, and the planet's constant shrinking makes the experience quite intense. Maybe it would have been even better with some sound effects or even music ? Also, being able to pause or have the tutorial before the meteors start crashing on the planet would definitively help to save some time. :D
Anyway, good work !
Ok, that was... completely hilarious. I really liked the dialogues with the roommate. Gameplay wise, it's simple but still really fun. Only downside for me is that once you have a certain amount of cats, it is pretty much impossible to prevent them from breeding and just swarm you until you can't even move (still very funny when it happens though !). Overall, good work !
By the way, did you use Godot ?
Visually impressive, and the audio is awesome too. However, even if I find the gameplay fun, I just find it... too easy ? You get way too many lives over the course of the game, it it not that hard to survive an entire level without even getting hit a single time.
Nonetheless, you did an amazing job on the artistic and musical side, so great work !
Not bad ! As others have said, the art definitively reminds me of Isaac. The music is pretty good, however, I noticed that another instance of it is played each time I restart, which can become pretty weird (just keep dying and clicking play again over and over and you'll understand what I mean ;) ).
Anyway, good work !
A really funny game, while still being challenging ! The concept is neat, and I loved the fact that each furniture could be handled differently (like being able to place tables over carpets and pots on tables). It would be great if there was more of them. Anyway, good work !
Oh, and the voice acting is just hilarious ! xD
Funny game with a cute art style. The intro was quite hilarious !
The idea is really interesting ! However, I find it way too hard when you get bigger items... I think more time to sort the loot would be great !
Good game ! Pretty nice art style (I especially love the parallax background !) and cool gameplay, even if a bit too easy.
The idea is great ! And I can definitively relate with the character. Cute game !
Well, the art syle is great, so is the music, and Teddy's dialogue is really funny... however, I find the game to be way too easy. I think the pressure should be increased faster and mistakes should be more punishing to add more tension and challenge ! Also, it's a shame that the black hole is only visible if the pressure is high enough, because I did not even see it in my first playthrough. Nonetheless, it's still a fun game, good job !
@bovandenberg Thanks, I really appreciate it ! o/
@jole Yay, Seedship ! It definitively inspired me ! I'm really glad that you're liking my game. Thanks for the feedback, it's very motivating. I might keep developping it after the Jam !
@hakro I just added a Linux port ! Couldn't test it though, but tell me if it works :D
Thank you for all your feedbacks, it is very important to me !
I'm really glad that some of you are enjoying the game. I'm currently working on fixing the current annoying problems (notably the interface, the balancing and the other bugs left) before adding any new feature (in a non ludum dare version, of course) but I really appreciate your suggestions !
@pixels-everywhere I just uploaded a fixed version. The menus should close normally now ! o/
@raccoon-js I'm curious, what didn't you like about the game ? Did you have trouble figuring out the controls and what to do (which are both written down here and on the itch.io page, by the way...) or just disliked the concept ? :)
@raccoon-js Well, the end goal is to try to save the maximum of humans before the black hole swallows the entire space. I'm really sorry that I didn't have enough time to add a tutorial (48 hours for the compo is quite a restriction) and I know it would have helped understanding the game, but that's why I tried to write everything you need to know on this page. :D
@brainslugs83 Thanks for the feedback ! Of course, you can just save 1 billion humans (out of 10 billions on Sol) right at the beginning by immediatly sending them through the wormhole at the top of the map and quickly end the game, but... the point is to improve the Ark to try and save the maximum amount of people. :p
@vfabien21 Yup, Icarus definitively inspired me ! I think it was the first Ludum Dare game I ever played, long before I even started programming. Thanks for the feedback :D
@bemmu Did you notice the wormhole at the top of the map ? You can escape by sending the Ark there. :)
(WASD or arrow keys to move the map)
A really interesting idea. The concept was pretty orginal and I loved the grim, mysterious atmosphere. I definitely think you should keep working on it after the jam, with this setting you could easily make a great backstory. Awesome job !
Nice idea. The gameplay was a bit simple but it became more interesting when you began losing parts of your character. I really enjoyed the grim mood, and the music perfectly fitted the theme. What I disliked was the fact first levels were way too easy, maybe you could have reduced the ammo spawn rate to add some challenge?
@764hotshot @nekonyo It should be good now. Thanks for making me notice it !
@nekonyo I'm sorry, I can't do much, Godot 3 only supports OpenGL 3.0 and higher. Have you tried updating your drivers ?
@codesity Thank you for your feedback ! ^^
@balduvian-dead Thanks for reporting the bug ! It's strange though, I don't think I allowed variables to stay under 0, but I'll take a look at my spaghetti code. Apart from that, did you enjoy playing ? @rodel77 Thank you for your feedback ! I indeed planned to make some sound effects with bfrx during the last few hours of the jam but I really ran out of time at the end (that's also why I couldn't implement a tutorial and more traits/soldier types). Oh, and I checked the Windows mark on itch.io, it should be fine now .
An interesting idea. I really liked the bullet hell aspect. And the fact that you didn't use any engine is quite impressive !
Challenging game. The second level especially gave me a lot of trouble, I would sometimes lose without even being touched by anything (hitbox problem ?). Great music as others have mentioned, even though I thought it was sometimes a bit too cheerful for the intended mood. I also quite liked the subtle end reveal/"hidden message".
Took a peak at the source just so I could ~~steal~~ gently study that gorgeous fire shader. On a more serious note, what a beautiful game. Really fond of the post-cataclysm mythos, and the efforts made into the worldbuilding. Also, quite a clever interpretation of the theme. Unique gem.
Alright, the concept is really hilarious. The twitter panel is an especially nice little touch. Managed to win the election and survive until the end, and definitely laughed a lot while playing that one. Well done !
Definitely a lot of high quality work here, it's quite impressive that you could pull off so much content despite the time limit. Really enjoying the board-game aspect. The map/team management kind of remind me of games like Phantom Doctrine (but on a smaller, city scale). Neat and efficient interface, great art, witty writing, intriguing story, and simple yet enjoyable card mechanics. I really do hope you get to 20+ ratings before the end. Best of luck and congratulations on the release !
A few typos in the text, but it didn't prevent me from really enjoying it. Lovely art style, and as others said your choice of color palette makes a pretty neat atmosphere. I'm also sucker for point & click narrative games like this, played it a few times to get all the endings. I really wish it was a bit longer with a few more choices, though. Great work !
Pretty good ! Really liking the idea of having to cleverly exploit your clones to go through each challenge. Also enjoying the cartoony art style and the overall design of the hideout. Just noticed that sometimes the clones don't go exactly to where I was before even if nothing interacts with them, don't know if it's a bug or not.
Alright, this one was genuinely hilarious. And everything else was just great. Witty writing, smooth animations with lovely details (don't know why I'm loving the hair so much), nice pixel art, chill atmosphere, relaxing music. Definitely one of my favorites from this jam. 10/10 would kick puddles again.
Further proof that we need communism.
On a more serious note, that is a neat little game. It was pretty challenging though, having a checkpoint between each level would have been great. Not sure what the connection to theme is, but other than that it was really enjoyable.
Wow. Definitely one of my favorites yet. I didn't expect much at the beginning, but the story kept getting more and more interesting. I really enjoyed the twist and the ending, gave me undertale vibes. Clever writing, impressive atmosphere, and a beautiful yet really intriguing world, you immediately feel that something is off. Also (spoilers) poor Miggs.
This game has exceptional potential. I'd definitely play a complete, longer post-jam version just for the story. Amazing job !
A lot of potential here. Could be even further improved with a bit more spells to reduce the repetitiveness, and of course, some sound, visual effects and other eye candy. Maybe play a bit with MMO tropes like making the party shout at you for not healing them fast enough ('cuz you know, in doubt, it's always the healer's fault) ?
Still a pretty good job, and I definitely encourage you to develop it further. And congratulations on making your second game on your own !
The idea is extremely interesting. It would be even better to have a bit more policies to experiment with, and some way to understand how each specific policy affects the spread and population. Would have loved to take a peek at the source, if only I knew stencyl. Bonus points for the presentation, the curves are pretty neat.
Really great concept overall with amazing potential, I deeply encourage you to develop it further !
Theme should have been garden, eh ?
Just kidding ah ah, nice submission. As others have mentioned, i'm surprised you were able to pull off such neat 3D models (especially the robot) during the time limit of the compo. Also, the interface with the status of each plant bed was a very welcome quality of life addition. I would have preferred a bit more variation in gameplay though, maybe more enemies or weapons ? Still, pretty good work overall !
Simple yet genuinely interesting idea. I was actually surprised how challenging it got, and how much planning you had to do with the barricades/traps in order to protect the ally, I learnt the hard way that just dropping him inside an elevated room was not going to be enough. Couldn't find the readme.txt file with the credits for the audio, but isn't the music from a Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead soundpack ? If so, great reference here !
Pretty funny and lighthearted game. It was really simple at the beginning, but I was surprised how clever the level design gets.
Super boulot !
Ah ah, the robot sprites kind of remind me of the one from Enter the Gungeon.
Funny premise. Loving the 2D sprites on a 3D environment. However, I can confirm that most of the time clicking on the trash won't remove it, so I couldn't play it through the end. Maybe something is blocking the raycasting ?
Be honest, is it really your first jam ? Because it is incredibly polished, and even (i'm sorry) suspiciously so. Everything is just great. The voice acting, the jokes, the art, the animations, the interface, the gameplay. This is the kind of release you'd expect from a 7 day jam, not a 3 day one, and especially given that you're solo. If it is really your first, then congratulations, both for making a release, but also for the impressive quality of it. Looking forward for your future creations.
Damn, this really makes me want to learn shaders. Loving the art style and the eerie, disturbing atmosphere you've created. You should maybe give a bit more time to read the intro text though, or at least make it a slower, having it pass by so fast does your game a disservice as the writing and narration is pretty good.
Fun game ! I found the intro to be quite hilarious. You also really nailed the pixel art. Too bad there doesn't seem to be any other type of defense than the archers.
Quite a clever concept ! Didn't really find a defensive use for the sparks though, as it was always way more worth it to try to dodge or take a few hit in order to save them. Though quite short, it was a pretty fun game, and I really enjoyed playing it. Of course, a few more enemy types would have been a great addition !
Cute game ! Really enjoyed the writing and humor, even though the font made it sometimes hard to read. Also, as other have said, would be great to understand why the creatures die and when to feed them !
Simple but hilarious idea, and lovely pixel art !
This is amazing. I'm really, really fond of the visuals here. The boss sprites, the intro art, the fight animations, the fading level transitions, all the little effects, everything just feels so polished.
Gameplay is simple but dynamic and, overall, pretty damn effective, the patterns of the three bosses are all fun to learn and fight against.
Awesome work !
Cool twist on the dungeon crawling genre ! The game has a nice traditional roguelike feeling, and I really like the concept of building your own road. Combat was a bit rough though, maybe adding a bit more diversity to the way you use dices in it could further improve it ?
A really unique, innovative take on the theme. And not only is the core idea incredibly clever, everything else just further improves on the experience : the fun level design, the witty writing, the engaging music, the whimsical, lighthearted atmosphere. All of it just screams polish and personnality.
Great work on this little gem. If you ever decide to make it a full, standalone game, i'd play the hell out of it.
Really interesting idea. Controls and physics were a bit hard to master, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes surprisingly fun. The levels are all great and well-designed, and the progressive introduction of new mechanics is perfect makes a perfect difficulty flow.
There were a few bugs there and there (i.e some objects getting out of the map then coming back again), but overall, a solid puzzle game concept. My only real gripe is that I hardly see the relation to the theme, but you already mentionned that in the description. Still, I encourage you to keep working on it and make it a standalone game, as this has a lot of potential !
Real question : how many frames on these animations ? They look incredible ! The sprites themselves are really cool too. Gameplay reminded me of Hollow Knight, though it was a bit on the easier side.
Pretty polished submission, good job !
Really fun take on the theme, built around a pretty cool mechanic. Controls are a bit hard to get into, but oh so satisfying when you get the hang of it. It's gorgeous, extremely well polished, and entertaining. Good job !
Pretty cool ! There is definitely a lot of work here, both art and gameplay-wise. Levels are varied and fun. I liked the eerie atmosphere of the beginning, even though the voices of the later levels made it a bit more silly.
Only bug I found was that the screen would get stuck when restarting after finishing once (which isn't too much of a problem, since it only seems to happen after a first playthrough :p).
Great work on setting up the eerie, disturbing atmosphere. The unsettling audio and dreamlike art mix really well, and a lot of work has definitely been done on polishing everything. Even the text animations are gorgeous. And as others have already mentionned, you deserve even more respect for trying to create something that deals with this kind of touchy subject.
Using the mechanics as a way to tell the story through small interactions is a really powerful tool, and I kind of like what you tried to do in this area (i.e the high "fighting off" countdown to express the protagonist's apparent helplessness, drawing the curved line to represent the unproperly set boundaries...), but my only gripe is that the execution could have been a bit more impactful, as there was a lot of potential here.
Overall, it remains a well made, and refreshingly meaningful submission. Good job.
Gameplay was extremely confusing, and hard to figure out without guidance.
And that is literally the only negative part I can think of, because everything else is just absolutely awesome ! The visuals, the animations, the intro, the music and sound design are all astounding, and the level of polish and work you've put into this is just on another level.
It's incredible you managed to make something look and feel this good during the timeframe; that's the level of quality you'd expect from a released, standalone indie game, not a jam submission. Seriously, well done !
Cool idea ! I like your take on the theme. You could definitely try to make a post-jam, multiplayer version, it has a lot of potential.
A by-the-book approach to the theme, but it's quite fun and challenging. I like the way it plays, the controls are simple but the flow is pretty intense. Though I found it a bit hard to distinguish between all the different materials/ores.
Joli travail !
That was hilarious. There's definitely a great deal of work that went into polishing. I was surprised by how sleek the models and animations looked, especially for a 3D game. The lighthearted, funny writing was the icing on top. Awesome job !
Nice work ! The gameplay loop is simple but effective, and it actually feels pretty polished, especially if it's your first time making an FPS. You really nailed the shotgun, as others have mentionned, the two shots -> reload feels just right. And bonus bold points for submitting a 3D game !
It's surprising how many actions you managed to implement ! It was quite fun to move around with all the options you had, though you could sometimes get stuck if you accidentally killed all the enemies you could bounce on. It's cool that you even managed to slip in a boss fight !
Simple but pretty cool ! I liked the risk-reward balance between trying to grow more golems at the same time while not getting overwhelmed.
Surprisingly polished ! Really loved the voice lines and the general goofy take on a pretty sensitive topic. The music was hilarious. Art and animation was consistent with the vibe and really neat.
Gameplay was pretty clever, but my only gripe is that it can feel a bit repetitive after a while, and maybe somewhat slow... I think i'd at least increase the fill speed of the artist's bar ? Or, you know, maybe she should just use AI since it's faster !... wait.
Very, very interesting idea ! Love the concept of pattern recognition from the earlier runes. As others have said, getting a good match is sometimes a struggle even when you know what to draw, but the "doubling over lines" tip helped a bit.
Really wish more games would integrate language-based puzzle mechanics haha, there's so much potential !
Cool entry with fun controls (though they need a little getting used to) ! It was a challenge to find a proper tactic to maneuver around the cops haha. Good job !
Surprisingly challenging haha ! The simple loop works very well. The game shines on the maps with more ai players where you have to carefully think about where to allocate your limited mana. Only gripe is that once someone starts snowballing, it's pretty difficult to come back.
Good job, especially managing to make a working strategy game during the compo timeframe !
This is amazing. I could see this winning the compo. Intriguing and looks and feels very polished. The concept of assembling your monster is so fucking cool, and I would have loved even more options for parts. The whole game is also supported by a really impressive, uncanny visual atmosphere. The eerie sound design adds a lot too.
Too bad you have to start all over if you lose to a wave, it gets a tiny bit tedious.
Great job, I really encourage you to make a full version after the jam !
Cool incremental game, and a pretty one at that!
Love the contrast between the eerie beating heart and your goofy little chicken cultists. The animations and vfx are also very cool. Some audio would have further reinforced the atmosphere, too bad it's missing. Also would have loved an endgame or objective other than getting all upgrades, but most clicker games are that way haha.
Well done!
Holy hell it's like flappy bird but so, so much better hahaha. Looks simple but very expressive character animations. The straightforward mechanic works really well. Well done !
Challenging but extremely cool puzzle game ! The rolling dog gave me Marble Madness vibes haha. Really had to scratch my head for a couple of the later levels. I LOVE the dreamy looking environment and characters.
Very solid entry overall, well done !
SLIME GACHA
Seriously, hilarious game hahaha. Well done !
Wow. Definitely the most fresh idea I've seen yet.
Main mechanic is frankly amazing even though it would obviously benefit from more clarity. As others have mentionned, it's a bit confusing to figure out at first, but I love the endless versatility of interactions you can have. My main complaint would be how quickly the thought square gets cluttered; adding another piece every time you move another might be a bit too much.
You also nailed the visual part, it looks consistent and very polished.
Really interesting entry overall, and would love to see the idea developped further (I'm really fond of systemic games like this hahaha). Well done !
Cute little narrative experience with fun mini-games ! Got the good ending.
As was asked, I feel compelled to comment and give you courage !
Really cool looking! Gotta love more narrative games. The writing was pretty hilarious. Who doesn't like demonic administrative procedures ? It's a bit confusing at the beginnning but you quickly get the hang of it.
I don't think I managed to find all the different endings, but I might very well come back to it to try to find everything !
Looks and feels extremely polished, well done ! Pretty funny premise, and having to balance the different values is an interesting mechanic to boot, even though it quickly gets pretty challenging. Impressive job !
Cool little roguelike ! Really satisfying.
