Well polished game, great work on art, particles and especially screenshakes(that really make game more dynamic)
It's really a great game, I loved the artwork ! The balancing of "souls" becomes quite difficult though, but I might just be bad at it ! :D

Well that was incredible! Your first ever jam game, but it feels like it was made by a seasoned pro!
I love the artstyle, reminds me of Edmund McMillens games in that. The sound design is great, especially the voice over is really well done, that's something not many people attempt and you done so well at it! It's so satisfying when you get into a clump of souls and destroy them all at once haha. After I got my upgrades it felt like I was unstoppable, especially because the health refill cost only 4000 maximum.
Overall awesome entry, good job!
I wish I could give multiple hearts for these comments: Dan Paladin (Behemoth) and Edmund McMillen are my two main inspirations. I guess I wear that on my sleeve but it's still an honour to be compared. Thanks for the comments <3
Be honest, is it really your first jam ? Because it is incredibly polished, and even (i'm sorry) suspiciously so. Everything is just great. The voice acting, the jokes, the art, the animations, the interface, the gameplay. This is the kind of release you'd expect from a 7 day jam, not a 3 day one, and especially given that you're solo. If it is really your first, then congratulations, both for making a release, but also for the impressive quality of it. Looking forward for your future creations.
@whismirk I'm taking your comment as a huge compliment. It is indeed my first jam; I recorded my screen for the entire process to make a timelapse of it and you can see every other game I've made on my website. I'm migrating from making Flash games! For what it's worth I went up to about 2 hours before deadline before deciding to wrap and upload.
5/5 thats all i have to say. Just a great game! ^^
Fantastic game! This is one of the most polished games I've played from a game jam. Love the art style, music, sound effects, and the voice-over especially. Even more impressive that it's your first ludum dare game jam game! Well Done!
Wow. Talk about fantastic. I can't believe this is your first jam! The art, the audio, the humor... All were top notch. You've made something you should truly be proud of here. Congratulations on your win! ;)
Amazingly fun, kept me captivated the whole time I played it. I'm still in shock this is your first Game Jam - you've got some serious skills. Great Job! The audio was great and catchy, the visuals were goofy and knocked the mood and humor out of the park - a great experience overall.

Very well done! There's a lot of good game feel and the art, music and voice acting are great. At first I didn't really understand that the only way to regain health was through the store, but that's about the only complaint I could make. Good job!
Extremely polished and fun! Love the voice acting. The art is amazing and full of small details. Great work!
This game is amazing. I'm fan of you great work man. And yes you have to start making tutorials this game is great. If you don't mind i will play some more . THANKS you are my favorite. I feel you are robed from attention, hope to get it like your game is deserve it.(Excuse my English)
I really liked this game. I loved the voice acting, the art, and when you kill the people, it makes you feel so powerfull. The only downside is that I couldn't finish the game, so if you were to continue this game, you could make the heal cost a little cheaper. Other than that it was a very fun game.
WHOAO ! 5/5 ! Awesome ! Awesome introduction and very cool concept. It's very dynamic with the screenshake and easy to use/hard to perform. Well well well well done !
Amazing game - had to keep playing until I beat it, and the ending was definitely worth it! XD Thought the push-your-luck mechanics worked incredibly well, both with the gameplay and with the theme. The game definitely requires some skill and I almost gave up at one point, but it's one of those where once you get in a rhythm it makes you feel like a boss :sunglasses: The comparisons to devs like Behemoth and Edmund McMillen are pretty accurate and I think this has the quality to be compared to them v favourably! Great stuff!

That was very fun ! Thank for this game !
I'm not ashamed to say that I've been incredibly moved by everyone's feedback. I'm so happy that you're enjoying it; for the large part I didn't even know if there was actually a game *in* there. I just thought the mechanic had potential. Once the upgrade shop was in and I called my brother to my apartment at 2am to record some last minute voice acting, it felt a bit more complete, but it really was touch 'n' go. But the whole event has been incredible - to top it off, the community is amazing and I can't wait for the next one. I'm going to do my best to have a good play through everyone's games!
That's crazy man, you really did all of this in 72 hours ?! :scream_cat:
This looks like a real game you could sell on Steam, all is perfect, from the art to the music or the gameplay. It's a real fun game, well balanced but pretty challenging.
Congratulation, this is the best work I've seen from now on.
Love it! I love how the music adds to the sense of urgency and panic. I spent a good while doing trial and death figuring out what sequence of upgrades work best.
One thing I found was that the difficulty mainly scaled with the number of upgrades you got. While a good challenge when you are trying to get as many upgrades as you can, you can just get upgrade 5 (extra souls so you can afford the increased life cost) and wait out the timer with minimal obstacles. What might work better is if the obstacles came in gradually as the timer neared the end (probably just my opinion). Then again, having the difficulty go up as you upgrade does make this game have more strategy when you have to consider your first few upgrades will be a double-edged sword.
Overall there is a lot of replay value in this game and it was really fun!

This is one of my favorite games I have played from this jam yet. It looks good, it sounds good and it is really fun to play! Maybe you could add that even when you don't hit anything that you still attack, this might make the game feel a bit more responsive. Amazingly done!
I managed to get all upgrades, my right hand hurting, and a lot of fun! I really enjoyed the challenge, and trying to get all upgrades as fast as possible. The voice acting made me laugh, i'm glad you kept it the way it is!
Amazing game!! Needs a full release ;)
I am sure this has been said a thousand times by now, but seeing this here makes me reminisce of the Newgrounds days... My what a time... @madebychaz, Thank you for the sweet memories. Very good work, a lovely submission.

Honestly the best game I have seen from this jam so far. Super polished and really well done. I really liked the concept and the gameplay was just amazing. I wish you made tutorials about your art style and how you did certain things in you game because man was it great. It ran so smooth and did have any lag even with tons of souls on the screen. Great Job!!!!
@augus Making it felt EXACTLY like smashing together some thing at 14 and hoping it doesn't get blammed on NG in it's judging phase :) The jam brought back those feelings for me too and I'll be forever grateful that happened. Thanks for the lovely feedback.
@twistashio Thanks so much! I think I might do some tutorials in the near future. I'm so glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback!
I hope I get to a point where my game can feel as complete and fun as this one does! It's got an amazing vibe and a great artstyle that reminds me of Behemoth and old Ed McMillen games!
...And it's your first shot at a jam?! WOW, just wow! This is the game I'll probably remember best from Ludum Dare 46
Unique concept, great idea. Congrats mate for polishing all aspects of game!
This is a very neat package that just feels right. A quick introduction and then straight into the gameplay. Good graphics, well designed features. Small things like the HP bar becoming transparent when the character goes beneath it just shows that you guys polished this thing a lot. Overall just really fun and very solid. Amazing work!
This was a blast! I will actually be going back to this game and playing it more! Well done. It felt very responsive and is a really cool idea. It felt like I kept getting better as I played more. This is a gem.
That was killer! I had so much fun, I'll keep this installed when its over. It reminded me of the best days of NG. I loved the strategy aspect of deciding what order to purchase the upgrades, and using life to get souls to get life. It took me about 25 minutes to finally beat it.
I found a bug where I could get hurt in the soul-hole, if I paused it when a spiked ball was directly on top of me.
lol the voice over and art are sick loved it. This is heccin hard! I was having health economy issues lol. Very polished, good job!

This is amazing played a lot! very fun, beautiful and polished! Tried a lot of different orders, not sure if there's a best one, it felt rather well balanced. Sound is hype game is full of "That good stuff" (that make games feel alive) from particles, screen shake, blood trail, good noise and just the overall overload of things happening! Just very fun & addictive! Was there some magical mercy life? Had way too many "close" (read 0 hp) calls to the soul hole! If not I'm amazing, if not, you got amazing design skills!
Overall this was amazing, you've got a winner in your hands good job!
Story exposition, art, audio were all awesome. I felt like the main gameplay favored spawning souls in a corner and running into them as they ran toward you, which got a little old. Seems like something needs to be added to force you to have to move around the level. But then the prices for the upgrades would be pretty staggering. Good job on this game! Just needs some tweaking I think.

Simple and fun, arcady gameplay! Super polished as well!
Very cool! Had some trouble with spawning first people as I kept pressing around myself with nothing happening - wish there was a message to move the pointer away. The graphics looks very nice and stylish. Sounds are great too. If the game was more forgiving and let keeping some starting score for grinding would be nice imho. Really great game!
@apandso Thanks for the comment...there is a red circle that shows your spawn cut off area when you do that :)
I enjoyed this game!
Stylistics, animation and a scene with voice acting! Cartoon voice acting is just incredible. I take off my hat in front of the sound actor.
The game is clear and fun, I'm happy to play for 15 minutes and I'm not bored)

this game is an humility lesson.

Absolutely love it. Haven't beaten the game yet, am definitely gonna continue trying ! Almost got to the 4th upgrade, but I am quite bad at dodging bullets  Your art style is awesome, and the game feels super polished. Amazing job!
it's really awesome ! i love it! feedbacks are incredible really good game !!!!!
i had no choice but to give this game a perfect score. such a great concept and i love this new mechanic (at least new to me)
@paulhocker Legend! Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Yea, great game! I'm not sure about the mouse control, as it seems to make dodging a little harder, but I also don't think WASD- (or arrow)-controls would convey the same dynamic. I also didn't know you can choose an update, as I thought you have to take I first and II second and so on - maybe add a little "Choose your upgrade" text and remove the numbers. But also no one else seems to have this problem, so maybe it's just me. But yea, like I said, it's a great game.
I also like how all the bodies pile up. Is there a limition of how many bodies are piling up or how does this work, if I may ask?
This game is amazing! Also, I loved the voice overs and the fact that you left some mistakes in there (or intentionally put them there) made it even funnier. It's really cool how awesome you feel by the end just reaping hundreds of souls :D First game to get a perfect score from me
This is just insane! you have so much talent when it comes to art and the gameplay was amazing as well! I don't know if it's related or not but this gives me such a McMillen vibe! Ah I love it! ^^
Really good. A great entry for this jam. I loved the narrating voice and the mood of the game. Great graphic art similar to Binding Of Isaac as well as the voice. One of the best game i tried in this jam.
Amazing game!!! I loved the sounds, graphics and the smooth movement. I liked how it turned from no obstacles to an obstacle massacre! I would love to try out all upgrades purchased together but the upgrade cost rose exponentially within the 3rd upgrade i think. Also, holding down left mouse button for almost the entire time was tiring. And the top right soul button, after getting into the soul store I assumed that the bottom right button was to go back to the game xD but it was for the main menu, I took a while to get the hang of the game and was able to smash souls after that xD. Awesome game overall! Loved it! I loved the humor as well lol
Nice action game, lots of satisfying gameplay feedback, and that voiceover!!!! The only thing that wasn't very fast-paced was the actual timer for ending the game, it drags onnn and onn and onnn....I got all 5 upgrades and farmed a ton of souls very quickly, then just stood in place healing my HP every once in a while, waiting for the timer to slowly. count. down. I think the timer was barely only halfway done by the time I had all upgrades and all the souls I ever needed.
Feels like the end goal should maybe just be to farm 200k souls or something like that, rather than wait for a timer to go down, or something?
Aside from that, this was pretty fun! The main strategy was just holding both right and left click and summoning a line of guys and immediately mowing them down, which proved to be quite effective, especially with the right upgrades.
Nice job on your first LD!
One of the best games I've played at this jam, really well done. But maybe a little too hard.
