LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

33 grams by martincohen 2015-12-18T03:32:00

The Graphics and sound is really good, the atmosphere is serene but also threatening, the color palette seems very distinct.

Light Drifter 34 by Thought Reactor 2015-12-18T04:09:00

I enjoyed the game! For me personally I would make it move slightly faster and make the controls more responsive and I would remove all the waiting between levels, so it would be more of a continuous flow.

LEVEL UP! by astrophics 2015-12-18T00:38:00

I think it's a great game, but it would be even better if the game scaled more to the abilities you are slowly accumulating. It seemed to stay roughly the same and when I hit max level and entered hardcore mode It seemed the game just wanted me dead and executed me. I think the primary challenge of the game comes from the ship turning slowly, so maybe have it turn faster as an upgrade and maybe the game would progress from in the beginning seeing something and turn in advance, to react fast to whatever comes.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Simen the snail by BloodJohn 2016-04-24T14:05:00

Great game. Very relaxing. It's most interesting in the beginning when new mushrooms are added and you keep track of which mushrooms are safe. In the end I had it memorized perfectly and would have to make a serious blunder to die.

Tesselate by kitcar2000 2016-04-24T15:41:00

Nice game, Nice confetti!

Grokh's Arena by Cerno_b 2016-04-23T08:58:00

Game closed on me after one of the later waves, I assume I won? I used only the Wizard. Thought the animations were humorous and the gameplay was engaging. the whole arena setting with the Frog king at the top is cool. I actually didn't die but I saw the deadpan You Died screen on a stream.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Egypt Saves The World by RafaCP 2016-09-04T17:33:00

I would personally prefer if the player moved faster, the cats dealt more damage - and the enemy shots were faster as well to compensate.

The art style could also be more coherent because the resolution seems to vary among some of the assets, and the color palette could be more focused. A video I discovered some time ago talks about
this if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34sAfLi9YLE

On Fire by dietzribi 2016-09-02T10:54:00

The game had great gameplay and was engaging. There is a memory aspect to the game because of the camera and I think it's just a matter of taste what kind of camera would be best. The Dinosaur is a great idea: It can replenish your fire duration, you have to watch its behavior to pass it, and it unexpectedly turns into ash in seconds.
The game fits the theme well and it can be seen as a metaphor for the human struggle with nature through time. This game is to global warming what There Will Be Blood was to capitalism. We think we have the fire under control now, but soon the machines will take over the world.

Tori Tori Panic! by fundamental.phantom 2016-09-06T13:47:00

Pretty good game. It's very short and maybe a little easy. It's nice that the last levels focused on bouncing the arrow. I think the graphics are good especially the tree. The sea might look a little bit like a green screen because it's the same amount of detail as the foreground while the light bricks seem flat, and if you look at it a certain way it could look like a big tidal wave. My only real complaint would be that the music loops every time you fail the level and because the levels are so short the result is you never hear anything other than the beginning of the song.

Sepulcrum by blackcode 2016-09-06T11:54:00

I liked the game. It is a pretty good joke that the security system to a huge emerald in an old tomb is a series of small user friendly brain teasers - Maybe it's a metaphor for what is really going on? I think the tests are well done - It's most interesting before they loop and you have to figure out the rules and you are not sure what will be next. For me the sliding puzzles were the most difficult. Any significance to one of the characters dying and only a few people came to the funeral?

Ig-Knight by Pickens Inc. 2016-09-04T23:45:00

The graphics and light looks good and it's very satisfying to shoot something. However not much is going on (especially in the beginning) and you get that small time window to replenish the light at the top, so I just try to stay at the top - usually spamming E when it's time. Therefore it's a strange decision to have the opportunity to end the game by pressing E after Wave 6. I also don't understand why the weapon has to be a slow weapon because as a result the enemies have to be slow too. I think it would be interesting if there were different kinds of enemies and different weapons so you would have to use the right weapon for the right situation, and it would encourage moving around more. Maybe there could also be a shop between each wave?

Gear Kitty by Raiyumi 2016-09-02T08:41:00

The graphics are amazing - as well as the animations. The music fits well and is enjoyable to listen to just having the tab open in the background. The game is a little easy, but if this was the beginning of a longer game it wouldn't be a problem. This is a small detail, but maybe make it even more obvious that you can't make the jump right at the beginning if you go right and don't have the double jump, because I actually made the jump without a double jump but then later failed to reproduce it, maybe it was a framerate thing? Another small thing would be to make the Cogwheel upgrade look different from the jump upgrades.

cognizance by managore 2016-08-30T20:34:00

I noticed how you make the walls look like a real building with just a couple of extra pixels here and there and i'm going to use that. I like the particle effect too. The atmosphere is interesting and it reminds me a bit of Limbo. As for the gameplay I feel there is a bit too much travel time, maybe if the cog wheel could sprint or the base movement speed was just faster. Maybe every puzzle/challenge could just be closer together so the world is more compact. I guess if there is less travel time the atmosphere will also change.

1995 by ShaunJS 2016-08-30T20:44:00

Still better than Windows 10!

Apalis by Tselmek 2016-09-04T17:15:00

Level 20 was pretty tough especially passing the axe, but I also realized you can jump lower by pressing jump a shorter amount of time because I was forced to do so to get the crystals close to the spikes. Completed the game with 85 deaths!

LD38 — A Small World

Hopper by Porcus_Pie 2017-05-09T13:37:22Z

The graphics, sounds, aesthetics, main character and overall design was really good, but the gameplay itself got samey towards the end because it basically felt like playing the same level multiple times. This game also tries to communicate the rules of the game non-verbally, which is something I admire.

ANTIVIRUS by KappaIX 2017-05-06T23:36:48Z

The aesthetics were nice, the combat got monotonous, wish there were more ways of moving around, different ways to shoot, more enemy variety. The growing and shrinking was intriguing. It's possible to move the mouse outside the window and get a combat disadvantage!

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-05-11T13:10:43Z

I liked the world and the main character. The gameplay is interesting and it's easy to make it harder for yourself than it needs to be, which is good. I think the levels could have been more interesting, but that is a little much to demand for 72 hours. I think the music fits really well, even though it's short and loops frequently.

Time Loop by wellingtonbecker 2017-05-16T22:43:23Z

The gameplay is really good. The idea with the zooming level and that it is a timer for completion is very interesting. The music fits well and is nice and gritty sounding, and I think the level design is nice as well. I got stuck at level 16 though, don't know if I missed a simple solution. I wish that you could jump from platforms instead of sliding off the edge, and the hitbox of the saw or the main character seemed a little larger than the sprite

SnowGlobe Warrior by Ethan Allwood 2017-05-14T21:03:32Z

The music and graphics create a great atmosphere, the combat lacks dynamics. I would like it to be faster, to feel more powerful and to have a greater degree of control.

Bad RNG by FiloGC 2017-05-14T20:43:50Z

Interesting premiss, but the gameplay itself is a little simplistic / lacks depth

Gate Breaker by GrassWhopper 2017-05-07T17:13:23Z

The graphics and effects are great, and it looks good that one can sense it's actually 3D when something occationally turns or an object displays it outright. I think the camera was zoomed too far in, it was impossible to die, and the movement speed felt very slow compared to all the projectiles.

The Witless by pogo 2017-05-06T23:36:46Z

I'm a huge The Witness fan and I assume you are too. The game obviously has a funny name and it becomes instantly recognizable what the game might be. It turns out the puzzles aren't witless, but they lack the deep design of the Witness puzzles, which is understandable, since the Witness took a bit longer to make than 72 hours. I don't know what goes into making a 3D game like this in 72 hours, I mostly have experience with 2D in 48 hours, but I imagine it takes some effort, I wonder how tight the 72 hours felt? The game ran kind of unsmooth on my GTX770, but it wasn't important for the gameplay.

Daily Routine: the smallest worlds are the ones we get stuck in by Samurai Spark 2017-05-19T11:32:42Z

Cool game, graphics is good and the message is clear. The gameplay is of course is a little subdued since it doesn't seem to be the focus. What I find most interesting about it is that you can only answer "polite" or "very polite". I find it interesting because the game is talking about the theme of being in some kind of prison which is just living ones life. Do you feel that it's essential to not show negative emotions in society or in email conversations, or even in messages like these? I think it's good to be encouraging, but if it feels like being negative is never an option, and the positivty is just duty, I would find it suffocating as well. I think the answer to the guy in the games problem would be to do something else, try a different breakfast, maybe stay off the computer or respond more like he actually feels, watch something else than football, or do something different and new. It's a clever take on the theme too.

_Save_ by iamteekay 2017-05-19T11:19:58Z

The combat feels good, I like the graphics/aesthetic style and I like the concept of protecting the planet, even though it is a little stressful since the planet is so immobile and helpless! I think I would have prefered if the difficulty ramped up a little faster and that you wouldn't run out of ammo with the laser or missilegun, because if the scene would be even more chaotic or more "difficult", the destruction would feel awesome. Maybe there could be more types of weapons and some of them aren't as powerful, then you can pick them up by "mistake" in the heat of the moment and be forced to use a lesser weapon (a little bit like Downwell, where a powerup is tied to picking up a weapon which might be worse than your current weapon). There is a lot of different ways one can design these games!

My Other World by Formona 2017-05-16T20:36:22Z

Graphics were very impressive. The gameplay was interesting, level 2 was a little less interesting than level 1 and 3. The mood of the game is nice, and it felt like a metaphorical fight against depression. Besides the graphics being nice, the design of the bosses and the world was also well done, and the bosses were bizar.

LD39 — Running out of Power

The Light City of Karola by davidcollado 2017-08-17T14:18:54Z

Really beautiful art, great graphics as in how it flows and feels, and great execution in general. The platforming feels good without being incredibly refined. The idea that ties to the theme about running out of energy is good and works really well with the game world and can easily be expanded - it's a good foundation.

Mega Awesome Super Cool Battery Game by Fork0 2017-08-20T08:18:43Z

The gameplay is interesting and engaging. I don't know what your highscore is, I imagine it's high. I got to 1980 and I think some kind of additional progression or an end fight would be a good addition, because it seems like when you start to get a grasp of the game, one can go on forever, even though it is not something you can sleep through. It is kind of interesting/funny in that regard, that the game gets "more difficult" as you gain life/battery, but the game does get quite difficult as well if you are too low on battery, aside from the fact that death is imminent

LD42 — Running out of space

Ice Interstice by aeveis 2018-09-02T20:46:00Z

A good idea that is very well executed and it was interesting to play through. The puzzles are not trivial but the ice breath is very powerful. Really nice touch with the xylophone/sound when the penguin walks. The penguin is amazing, and the liftoff at the end of a level seems like a tribute to Sonic, unless it's more common than I am aware of.

Detonation Dice by George Lancaster 2018-09-02T20:53:08Z

I am getting "The Witness" vibes!

Backpack Quest by polyducks 2018-08-22T21:59:42Z

It was interesting to think about how to "solve" the story. A downside is that it's primarily text. My best score is 520
