As soon as I started playing i love the concept! I found it easy to follow, wasn't confused and the collapse feature is easy for me to use thanks! my only wish is that there were more levels to try out but either way awesome game , you done it. ;)

Really impressive! This was a ton of fun! Was level design difficult for this? It seems like it could be more of a brain teaser than actually playing it!

@valmay Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
@wheffle Oh yea level design was rough. I had to try to make it so you couldn't beat the level in 1 button press while not making it impossible, just wish I had more time.

Wow, very cool concept! Maybe the guys with a knife could have been more challenging, but I really wish to play some more levels, so I think this is a good thing for a game.
Great work!

I think you should add a bunch of a new levels and maybe couple of new environment elements and try to publish your game at AppStore/Playmarket/Steam/etc. Mechanics are awesome and art is cool as well (I don't like cover much though), so your game can have a great success once it have extended version.
P.s. Guy with fastened knife made my day.
Okay, that's a wonderfull idea and very well executed. The moment we discovered how to play with the perspective we were captivated. Maybe it's a bit complicated to see where you aim though, something about the character being too big or the camera too low ? The doggy thing with a knife strapped on its head is the best enemy ever <3, Bravo !
...and also the cover art is amazing.

Oh dear lord, I laughed so hard. First at the cover image (oh that seal), and then when I saw the enemies :D This came to mind - http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/Hamster_34936a_1165872.jpg :)
Now, for the game: that's a great idea, well executed, and fun to play. Flesh it out into a game that will be released commercially, seriously, this has loads of potential - and with level editor it could have a decent lifetime. I'm saving this for voting, awesome work!
This is superb - it's like Fez and "Paper Mario" had a baby...and then strapped a knife to its head. (Feel free to use that as an official quote.)
Very impressive that you managed to get this done in 72 hours (or less). As others have said - you should definitely continue with this and aim for a full, commercial release. I would buy it!
@JayTord How can you not like that cover?!? I think it's superb!

Mindblown! This is amazing!
A very good use of 3d vs 2d. A very good game, relaxing and mind bending at the same time. Thanks a lot for this entry.
For me the camera was a bit too low as well, but I'm not sure if this could be improved due to the switch perspective mechanism.
(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/_Upt3PIzndo?t=2h00m35s )
Very adorable game. Easy to pick up and understand, yet challenging once you reach the later levels. One thing that was off though: you can't jump when standing on an enemy. Good job though.
Very ambitious, and very well done. Mouse was a bit weird in WebGL, because it stops working if your mouse leaves the box, would have been nice to be able to go fullscreen. Other than that, extremely well done. The 3D/2D thing has been done before, but I don't think I've ever seen one with 360 degrees of freedom of rotation when switching back and forth.
Vertical look would have been nice, though necessarily your view would have to snap back to the horizontal plane when switching perspectives, or the whole thing would break.

Wow ... what a fun game. These mechanics are really creative, you should make an entire game based on this prototype.
Congratulations!

Thanks for all the feedback! We just added a windows version, and a separate post-jam version. Post jam version has re-balanced levels plus 2 extra levels!
Back for rating! It's a great game and so much fun! Looking forward to more levels!
Very cool, reminds me of that one game, that famous one in that movie, except it's still really original.
Thanks for popping by! Great game - and mind bindingly awesome!
Congratulations me! I done it! lol this game is so freaking cool and has such potential. The last level was a good challenge. The minimalistic visuals have their own kind of charm. Of course the game mechanic here is the star of the show and you managed to make a few good levels to show it off, so great work in such a short space of time.
Just stopped by to give my ratings!

Since the voting is up, I've added rating to my earlier feedback. Cheers!
This mechanic is really innovative and well-executed! Also the character model is really cute, and that box art is sweeeet (did you make it?)
Took me a while to realise I could rotate the camera in the first level, and I wasn't able to get past the 2nd level (you probably fixed in the post-jam version). Anyway, I think this game has a lot of potential, and it would be cool to see a full version!

Super nice! Concept was stop on and well executed! And it fit the theme in a creative way, which was refreshing. I love the little enemies with the swords strapped to their heads.
The cover art is really spectacular. I wish that style had been expressed in the visuals of the game.

It was fun and interesting, I like the use of perspective and orthographic camera view, the gameplay has a good execution, in terms of programming is an attractive gameplay. the enemies with knifes/swords in their heads was a little funny. Good Job.

Nice perspective switching mechanic. Has some fun playing.

Really awesome idea. The mechanic reminds me of Monument Valley a lot, and seeing as your game is in 3D this is pretty impressive for a game jam. The graphics are cool and the audio is as well. Very solid entry, I like it very much.
Great work.
Really neat twist on the whole 3D/2D concept, I wasn't really sure how to beat the levels until I realised you could rotate the camera with the mouse and that you are not restricted by angle to where you can flatten the world. It actually makes you think three dimensionally in how to solve a level. Really creative stuff!

really creative idea! it's a little finicky at times but besides that it's super solid. nice job
This game is SUPER FUN. The collapsing levels is an incredibly cool gameplay mechanic. I like the other things you've placed in there as well, the spikes and that little creature that targets you. It's enough to keep you moving and make you think about where you actually want to be standing when the level collapses. Really, really well done.

The end screen though, very funny :D Overall very good game! Also the main character is cute.

Wonderful concept, you really should add the mouse movement to the instructions, I was playing for a while trying to figure out how to get anywhere and thought that i was stuck and that was all the game had. fortunately I discovered it by accident and continued playing. got to the 3rd level I think where I got frustrated by the spikes when moving up and dying. But great concept and execution, art was really nice and music was pleasant and sfx worked well. Great job!
I Live-Streamed this game this past evening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfvbUFJnui4
This was incredibly innovative and I found it absolutely fascinating. I'm looking forward to seeing more done with this set of mechanics!
Very good space-warping platformer! Its a solid start, it could definitely be made into a full game. Loved that you could collapse the world from any direction. Theres a few times I forgot that I wasnt constrained by four sides! Definitely a fan of the slugs with knives strapped to their backs. Also, that final ending image was gr9 Played it on my stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/139473859 (playing at 1:46:20)
Far too late at night for me to get any further than level two, but having made a much simpler puzzle game compared to this at the last LD... massive respect to you!
Realy cool mechanics, i love that. It's a little like fez (you like this game too ?). Play with the plan are very cool. on the other side i don't like graph and maybe more fx and feedback for a more polish version can be cool. But it's a very good entry i like that. Good job.
If you like fez i made a game in this way (a little for the art) : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/world-en-abyme-1
Oh and very nice cover :) Old game timmeee :p

Whoop! Got to the end! Never been prouder to get 1rd.
Great concept I really enjoyed playing this! The puzzles ramped up nicely and I never felt cheated at any point. Really solid beginning through to end.
I feel perhaps the in-game graphics might have benefited from a more.. surreal colour scheme perhaps? The vibe I got from the cover and gameplay was something a bit other-wordly and odd, in a good way. Not sure I'm explaining myself too well! Really just a nitpick of feedback.
The blokes with swords strapped to their head gave me a chuckle ;) And Super Collapse Guy himself had an adorable waddle.
Of course the box art / end graphics are fabulous.

Hey man, sorry for taking so long after the stream to get here with feedback. I love this game though! The collapsing mechanic is just soooo unique and interesting. I don't think I could have programmed that if my life depended on it. I really wish there were more level so that I could keep playing, but it's the ludum dare.
Oh, and the box art is incredible.

I played this on the first day of LD judging and it looks like I forgot to leave feedback or a rating (fixed that now!)
This game's mechanic is really good. I don't play a ton of games so I don't know how impressive this next statement is but: I've never seen anything like this in a game before.
The levels are fun little puzzles and from a programmer point of view I found myself wondering how you pulled it all off so intuitively.
There were moments in gameplay when I was thinking "this can't be the right answer this will never work" and then it worked. Really a good feeling!
Really nice game and the first time I encountered one of the enemies with a knife tied to its head, I couldn't help but smile  I love the details and the effort put in the cover art (and graphics in general). The game mechanics resemble those of FEZ but with a personal touch that make them different. I truly liked this entry, well done :)
Awesome concept! The levels were well designed, and the graphics were cute and fit the gameplay. However, I did come across a glitch, where the character would tumble head over heels when the up and down arrows were pressed. Good job!

This is an amazing take on the challenge! For only having 72 hours this is very innovative and something new. Great job :)
Given how buggy *Fez* was, I really appreciate the lack of bugs in this game. Although, the fact that there was only one shape for platforms makes me suspect some shortcuts were being taken. That said, I did find one: when the world is flattened, walk under a solid platform so the character is unable to jump. Bring perspective back to the game, and the player will still not be able to jump, even if there's only air above the character's head.
I also appreciate the open-ended nature of the game mechanic and the level design. It's really difficult to add unintended shortcuts in the game, which this game does nicely (managed to skip a third of level 3 with clever crushing angles). Great job!
P.S. Also reminded me a lot of *Crush*!
The mechanic is well done and very unique. I wouldn't know where to start making something like this work in a weekend.
Obligatory criticisms: Sometimes it felt like I was playing by trial and error rather than really looking at the level design and working out what I should do. Could have just been me being impatient/a moron. It was frustrating to finally get to a spot only to tap one of the spike things and have to start all over.
This game was a lot of fun, and I don't think I've seen another game exactly like this. I'd love to see this expanded out into a full-fledged game.
Very nicely done. This was really cool. The perspective shift worked really well, was easy to use. I got stuck for a while on the second level because I forgot about double jump (my fault) but once I remembered, I didn't have too much trouble.
I've got no real criticism of the game. If I had to find something, the graphics and sound weren't my favorite, but they were certainly serviceable and having any sound is much better than none.
Overall well done.
Just incredible you pulled this off seemingly bug free, that mechanic couldn't have been easy. I agree with the above, I did tend to use trial and error more as it was difficult to consistent predict how the world would morph. I thought you created situations even more interesting than Fez and other similar games though, you had your own unique take on it. Great job!

I really like the use of the 3D to 2D mechanic. It reminds me of Fez, and that's a good thing.

That was fun to play! Great mechanic, probably difficult to program, but it worked very well! In the beginning, the controls are shown, and somehow this made me think that I didn't need the mouse. ;) But I found that out soon of enough when I couldn't proceed. ;)
Well done! :)
Delicious . i bit my lower lip in jealousy, very well done. and that little enemy. might be the cuttest enemy ever. idunno ... this is a very nice thing to play in ldjam. I congrate you on you entry!
Great game! I'm very impressed with the physics, I found no bugs and switched between 2D and 3D always did what I expected. Good art and sound. My only critique is that the spike hitboxes seemed a bit too large. But overall, I really enjoyed it!

I liked the world and the main character. The gameplay is interesting and it's easy to make it harder for yourself than it needs to be, which is good. I think the levels could have been more interesting, but that is a little much to demand for 72 hours. I think the music fits really well, even though it's short and loops frequently.
2017-05-11 17:13
Very clever concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYiOXlTKNb0

It's impressive to see a 2D-3D transformation game in a game jam, it's pretty fun to play! Good job :D
"Congration"! <3
The box art is an absolutely endearing touch to an already great game.
It's not just really interesting technically, but a great entry to play too. Not to easy, not too difficult. Good balance. Only wish there were more levels, but I know the jam jam!
A favourite so far. A post-jam version with more stuff would be amazing. Immensely neat job!
Wow one of my favourite games I've played on LDJam so far! That mechanic is so good and you used it really well. Your level design was challenging but rewarding. I thought the mechanic was going to confuse me, but you did it in such a way that it just felt right, and from the get go I was transitioning around the levels with ease.
Loved the little box art at the start, made me chuckle.
Fantastic job and thanks for creating and sharing!

The dimension shifting mechanic of this game is probably one of the coolest I've seen in a long time. This game should definitely win the Innovation category!

This is amazing! I thought I loved the camera shift/collapse mechanic, but then I discovered that it changed based on my look direction, and my mind was blown. The controls, sounds, graphics, everything are awesome. I love this game!
I enjoyed this game so much that I rubber banded a sword to my head and crawled around outside. I'm posting this from jail.

Really cool! Reminds me of both Fez and another game jam game from a while back called perspective. I did find it a bit difficult to tell exactly how the collapse would work (i.e where the platforms would be on the screen), but it was never a big enough issue to impact my enjoyment of the game!
The game's mechanic is innovative and works really well. Also, your art was enjoyable and the puzzles were clever. Great job!
