LD38 — A Small World

+1💰 (the game) by thristhart 2017-05-20T16:43:38Z

I loved how the game zoomed out to reveal an identical layout trying it's best to thwart me. That was a great moment.

I couldn't beat under 5 gold for 5 secs unfortunately. My clicking finger cannae keep up!

I didn't really understand what the bar on the right hand side was, or why you wanted to fill it up with the horizontal/drag bar thing at the top (I am proper good with words today). That could be because the majority of my attention was on the center three buttons and keeping up with attacking/defending/clicking.

Simple but really engaging game overall. I do like that game reveals extra elements as you go along, and multi-tasking was an enjoyable challenge. Lovely job! :D

Daffodil Village by Hjalte 2017-05-16T20:59:47Z

Ahh I love cute things hiding horrifying secrets. I got a cute Hot Fuzz vibe (personally) from this which I super dig.

I liked eliciting different reactions from the creepy townfolk, then finally noticing I could click the 'Don't Knock' door. That was good stick-out moment for me. Wonderful work on the art, they're cute but definately have this vacant, evil-behind-the-eyes look to them.

I think a bubble or something for the text would be good just to make the text a little clearer to read. And perhaps have a scroll a little faster or have a click-through button would be handy, for us fast readers out there.

Lovely idea I enjoyed playing this. :D

Space Colonist's Tiny World by SoKette 2017-05-17T21:35:39Z

Haha wow those physics were a lot of fun! Nice job on getting your game sorted on the second day, musta been hard to put aside your first idea.

There's a lot of personality in this wee game. I love Elon's flailing limbs, it's adorable. Love your sense of humour. ;P

I only wish there were more objects to bounce into various places, or things to avoid perhaps. But I don't really have any constructive crit for you otherwise!

Lovely stuff. :D

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-14T13:03:40Z

This was gorgeous, everything about this is so nicely polished! The atmosphere is fantastic. I love all the little touches and things to see in the background.

I feel that the text that describes aligning the moons at the beginning is a little redundant, since the goal is highlighted nicely with the beam. Perhaps if enough time passed then the helpful text could appear? Very minor nitpick though!

Can really see this as the intro a series of increasingly challenging puzzles in a larger game. Brill job. :D

Land of the Sun by HolyBlackCat 2017-05-14T14:04:14Z

Ahh nice to see a boss-centered game! Really oozes atmosphere this, I dig that everything from the visual/audio/gameplay all feed into feel of the game.

I think the orbs are fine as a shooting mechanic, but perhaps if they moved a bit faster it would feel less frustrating when trying to aim at a boss (especially if you're a bit tight on time!).

Some of the platforms were just a bit too far apart since they go off camera and you have to find them by trial and error. Perhaps a way to look further afield or bringing the platforms closer to each would be beneficial.

Really fab entry though I really enjoy this game. Now time to go back and see if I can make it all the way to end without dying!! :D

Feather Fighter by Ellian 2017-05-14T13:28:19Z

This is really cute and super polished! Love the art and sound, it has a lot of personality. I like that the priority is on protecting the land moreso than killing off the birds.

The birds feel really really beefy, 6 kills was my best score!! I would have appreciated a double jump to help me get back up to the upper levels, since it pretty much feels like game over once you fall down a few blocks.

Though that all said I kept going back to try and improve at it so there's a certain addictive quality there! Great job. :D

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-18T19:00:55Z

This seems like a pretty ambitious game for a jam but I think you've done a fantastic job, there's a lot in here!

The mood for this is so spot on, it's super nice. Love the look and feel, the music and the graphics work well together. I kind of felt... a mixture between melancholy from the atmosphere and stress from all the land being swallowed up around me. In a good way. :P

Like others have mentioned even with following the instructions I wasn't too clear on what I was doing, and why I couldn't do certain things. Had to do some trial and error. But I imagine clarification and feedback would come with time and playtesting, if it's something you were interested in continuing with (which I'd be well up for seeing!)

Fab job overall. And major kudos for all the games you've been rating that's one hell of an accomplishment on top of your game!

Heckin' Ants by Thirsty 2017-05-18T21:24:49Z

Well this game certainly lived up to it's name! The uh, death cry of the ant was pretty amusing.

I like that the ant loses his I think mandibles on getting hit, it's a nice way to show health if perhaps a little subtle. I think maybe a change in posture would also help.

Those teeny tiny platforms are pretty brutal with the jump being a floaty as it is. The jump was alright for the most part, but I'd have appreciated having a checkpoint near that point so I didn't have to traverse the whole way there again. But it's all understandable given how short amount of time you made this in the end!

Nice job on the artwork, the background was pleasant to look at. And the music is the right sort of catchy but not irritating. I'm really gutted I didn't make it to this elusive laser ant Queen!!

Nice job! :)

Snoozle Pooz by mathijs750 2017-05-16T21:22:34Z

I was... totally caught off guard by just how happy I made these people by giving affection. Had a proper giggle at that. The puns, the little hearts, it's just wonderful.

The major thing stopping me from playing longer is the camera really, it's just a bit too jarring. Also I think a little.. catdar of some description would be nice, to help me look for people who need cheering up since the. Just me thinking uh... typing aloud though.

Everyone moves and looks great, especially the cat. And the music is super fitting and charming. Lovely work! :D

Age of Utan by Yetikatt 2017-05-17T18:51:04Z

Lovely polished little concept! Everything looks super nice and neat and clear. This game has got such a charming look to it, I love it.

I feel like the camera rotates at a slightly funny point? I can't quite put my finger on my problem with it, but it didn't feel as quick and helpful as I'd have liked (sorry that's probably not terribly helpful!). The meteors didn't feel like much of a threat either. I prefer them being there than not but perhaps different speeds or types would make them a bit more of a challenge.

The mood is nice and chill. Felt nice drifting through space expanding my bit of land, got quite attached to the little dudes before I boiled them alive. Whoops.

I had a lot of fun with this game, great job. :D

Cloud Garden by dwemthy 2017-05-20T09:57:06Z

This was a nice chill little experience. I feel that the controls are kind of counter-intuitive to the mood however, since I got very good at leaping to the ground rather than at the clouds. (though once I remembered I could zoom the view out that made my life a lot easier)

I think personally I would have liked to have been able to make my own cloud as well as build up on the existing ones. But as it is there's a certain satisfaction to building a great long cloud then watching as it all morphs into rain clouds. :)

Dots In Space... by davision 2017-05-20T15:32:34Z

I got very good at destroying myself, and then I called my partner over who helped me destroy meself again. My manly math skills were not up to the test!

Super nice looking game, and the physics feel really good too. Very juicy visual and sound effects, it all comes together well. Proper digging the minimalist planets with all these lovely effects pinging all over the place when in full combat. Nice choices of colours too!

I would have appreciated an intro screen with the controls on, or perhaps a quick note on this or the itch page. I only figured it out after a bit of frustrated prodding, and then afterwards finding that amazing menu with all those options. It was a pleasant surprise in that respect, but it seem a shame it could be easily missed!

Great enrty! :)

Small Steps by kurai 2017-05-14T15:35:02Z

This was lovely! :) I rather enjoyed chatting to the little creatures each with their own unique problems. I liked that I could go back after the 'thanks for playing' screen and get some extra insight into them.

Personally the fades are just a smidge too slow. On a second playthrough I'd have liked to go between the areas a bit quicker, but then again that might not fit with the mood! I'd like to have seen a visual reaction to my options from the creatures also.

Nice job! :D

World of Memes by rodancheg 2017-05-18T21:09:39Z

What a world of memes we live in eh. That was absolutely bizarre, I cackled the entire way through. I can see you lot had a riot when making this!

Only thing I would have liked is a way to speed up /click through the text on subsequent play throughs!

That certainly was a helluva Russiany memey experience.

PS. Your About Us page is magnificent.

Train World by mar3k 2017-05-20T15:59:47Z

I really enjoyed this entry! I like the sense of humour, and the last dregs of humanity being on a giant train tooo... nowhere? Somewhere? The mysteries!

The hitbox for picking up items is super tiny, I only got it in the end because it was frustrating running into items I thought I couldn't pick up. I went back to pick up an item I missed then found I could collect infinite (well.. three) doggos. So that was nice but I suspect unintended. ;P

I like the pixel art and the overall mood, it's just missing the music/sound effects to make the whole thing feel juicy. But understandable given this is all your own work!

Nice job! :D

Chill Bill by drtizzle 2017-05-03T19:15:27Z

This is so slick and all the elements come together fantastically, lovely stuff. Really impressed at how polished and fun the whole game is! Went a good few rounds on it. :D

I feel as though a reaction from Bill animation-wise might've sold the deadliness of the fart clouds a bit better? That could mostly be me because I'm a numpty and I didn't clock on to their lethality at first. Lots to do, people to kill, all that good jazz.

Since the game is all played on keyboard it felt a little odd to me that I had to use the mouse to press Go. Really a super minor nitpick!

Lastly just wanted to say I like how the voice over for the obtaining Sprite speeds up with every purchase. Helps ramp everything up.

Ruler of Survival by Flying Cat of the Pepes 2017-05-18T19:52:28Z

Proper cheeky tutorial you got there. ;P I feel like you over explain some of the concepts, it could do with being a lot more concise. I appreciate you having a tutorial in there at all though since jammers don't always have time to fit one in!

I like the look of flat character in a 3D environment, though I feel that they should rotate with the camera so you can see them at all times, otherwise it can get tricky. The little speech bubbles are charming too.

Cycling through the option with the arrows keys is a bit awkward. I think it might've been easier if perhaps you could map them to the number keys or let the player click to select them.

There's a lot in this game, I was surprised to see so many different levels. Nice job!

NekomimiAtsume by parkdraws 2017-05-05T08:28:19Z

Aw man this is super adorable. I'm a glutton for Neko Atsume so this is right up my street. :P

Petting feels super well put together, the little flowers after a pet really sells it.

I almost feel that the walk animation would be better suited for a run? It feels a little fast compared to the pace they're moving at, if that makes any sense. Still a cute animation though!

I appreciate y'got a zoom in there, gotta get close to those lovely pixels.

Nice job doing this on your ownsome! ((o(´∀`)o))

PlacidTeleCave by madsj 2017-05-19T09:09:15Z

I got pretty into this! It feels really good when you start piling up the power ups, very juicy. Had to pull myself away to come write some feedback which is a good sign.

I like the way the enemies move, I only wish they would move a little slower initially then perhaps ramp up. Especially when the green ones come leaping at you, but maybe my reactions just aren't on point.

The graphics are simple and clear, and the music lends itself the experience very nicely. My only gripe is perhaps with the health/powerups on the side which I didn't notice until looking at a screenshot of the game.

Solid game overall, great job! :D

Flat Earths! by ponywolf 2017-05-16T19:21:07Z

Aw yes I'm in the club. I can't get to Idaho, does it count if I turn up under the wilted elm by my local chip shop?

I adore everything about this game, you guys did a fantastic job. I would have really liked a bit of music during the gameplay just to up the ante of the all the mayhem. And perhaps the weapons a smidge thicker since it took me a while to hunt them down the first time.

The movement felt super good,it was pretty satisfying flipping about in the air and grabbing a trident. Doubly so with the little water droplets and blood of my enemies flying everywhere. Really awesome game. :D

Beer in Mind by pixelstuff 2017-05-16T20:23:00Z

This looks and sounds gorgeous, you've really goT the atmosphere down pat. All the sounds and images feel really lovely and cohesive. Especially digging the style of the characters... well and everything else. I would like to eat the art please.

I honestly felt at a bit of a loss with the gameplay. First I don't feel the things I could interact with were clear enough (took me a while to spot the sparkles, as lovely as they look). I couldn't really tell if what I was doing was having an impact or what drinks I was giving to what customers, if at all. I couldn't seem to get rid of that child either. xD

I really love the whole concept though and it's something I'd be super interested in seeing you guys develop further, if that's what you wanted to do! :D

Squadaloo World Cup by johanw123 2017-05-02T20:00:32Z

I'm digging the creepy overtones of the ever-watching giant heads :P

I feel that perhaps the ball could have done with a light or shadow underneath it; it wasn't always easy to tell how high up it was. Conversely the player head was great, really communicated well what direction it was facing and going in.

Solidly made little game though! I enjoyed playing it. :)

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-05-02T21:32:31Z

Whoop! Got to the end! Never been prouder to get 1rd.

Great concept I really enjoyed playing this! The puzzles ramped up nicely and I never felt cheated at any point. Really solid beginning through to end.

I feel perhaps the in-game graphics might have benefited from a more.. surreal colour scheme perhaps? The vibe I got from the cover and gameplay was something a bit other-wordly and odd, in a good way. Not sure I'm explaining myself too well! Really just a nitpick of feedback.

The blokes with swords strapped to their head gave me a chuckle ;) And Super Collapse Guy himself had an adorable waddle.

Of course the box art / end graphics are fabulous.

Atlas by CountTyranus 2017-05-18T12:31:28Z

Goodness me this is bonkers. xD Love how this looks, lovely art on the turtle, there's a lot more to do on him than I expected! He really does feel likE a little world in himself.

I think what is majorly needed is more feedback for the player. Sounds and visual effects to show that you've hit enemies, been hit in turn, are repairing things etc. Since there's alot to do that would be super handy and go a long way to making this feel super juicy. Also some UI for your rockets.

Love that rainbow beam out the turtle's mouth, that's wonderful.

Nice job!

Ellipticats by Hotchmoney 2017-05-05T08:45:54Z

Whoops, I was fantastic at floating off into deep space x'D

Getting to grips with jumping and flinging myself off to the other planets was a nice challenge.

Because the little rover is moving quite fast already I wasn't sure whether I was sprinting or not. Perhaps some little dust cloud or small animation would help signal sprinting?

I love the variety of planets you go to, the different shapes really help keep interest going and not have it feel repetitive.

I had loads of fun with this, great job!!

Planet Of The Precursors by ThatSnillet 2017-05-16T19:54:03Z

Really nailed the mood with this. The aliens gave me quite a turn! Wouldn't want to run into one of them on a dark night. I rather enjoyed trying to outrun them hopping through the areas.

I feel the FOV could be a bit wider, I had to stop playing near the end as I was feeling queasy. :< That could just be me though!

Jumping was a bit floaty. Ledge grabbing made my life a lot easier but it felt a little unreliable at times.

It was nice having the text pop up that I already had an item when re-entering somewhere. A minor thing but appreciated none-the-less!

Great job! :D

Oh ps. I played the jam version

Recursive nightmare by Toulou 2017-05-12T12:27:49Z

Aha wow this really surprised me!

Very much enjoyed the humour and the kind of.. dreamlike, nonsensical events that took place. Really unique.

I'd suggest maybe some sort of backing track to help set the mood a bit, not a deal breaker though. And perhaps a sound effect for when you get something in your inventory? I spotted the inventory but it seems it wasn't immediately identifiable by a few players.

Nice job on your first Dare! :D

Ark of the new world by jojocanard 2017-05-02T20:16:16Z

Ha my people were rather prone to drowning!

I think the game is nice and readable and quick to pick up. I feel the concept has the potential to be expanded on with some more interactivity if you ever felt lie continuing with it. The round/levels are nice and quick though so I never felt like I was hanging around too long.

Art-wise I feel the graphics would have benefited from sticking to a single style for cohesiveness. But again, everything's nice and readable which is the more important factor in my book!

Didn't run into any bugs or game-breakers. :) I rather enjoyed this and had fun with it.

Chick And Giant by DanteWang 2017-05-18T12:17:05Z

Nice little concept that's well executed. The puzzles progress nicely whils also introducing new elements tos top things from getting stale.

I would like to spin the board around just a smidge quicker, but I think that's personal taste. I also don't entirely understand why water hitting the chicken causes me to lose but I'm probably missing something. Perhaps an extra hint at the 'you lose' screen might be handy?

I like the Giant's eye moving around and the fact that he's the one spinning the area around.

Good game overall, I had fun with this! :D

E.(a)T. by BrothersT 2017-05-20T18:49:41Z

Ooh this is a very nice polished game! I like that the concept is relatively simple but you want to keep going back for a better score.

I think personally I would like to see seperate keys for eating and punting. sometimes I ate instead of punting an alien and visa versa when there was a fruit and alien very close to each other.

Everything about this is super cute, the designs are lovely and I love the animation on the characters. The music is very fitting as well.

Great game! :D

WRAP by lightblub 2017-05-18T21:38:34Z

This was a lovely little game, it feels very complete yet open to poking in more mechanics. It's really nice that all of you had a hand at making levels.

I love the minimalist style/feel of it, but like others have said it gets a little hard to look at. Perhaps a toggle or variety of colour schemes would work? I do like this tiny play area within a sea of colour though.

Also I feel that the effect for hitting the goal should be different/more congratulatory, since it's the same as when you land on a spike. It feels a little negative even though that's the aim, though that could be down to the sound effect more than anything.

Really enjoyed playing this through to the end! Lovely, simple, well-realised concept. Great job on your first LD :D

Save Your World! by janysice 2017-05-17T21:23:21Z

Alas, the poor guy... I only made it round 6.

I got pretty into playing this, I do like a tower defense game where I can get in on the combat too.

I think a muzzle flash or some sort of effect when I'm shooting would go a long way. I couldn't tell if I was making a dent in the enemies or not at first.

Nice game, especially for your first jam!

Anunnaki Defender by guilhermescosta 2017-05-02T21:06:46Z

Nice little game! I found the ramp in difficulty nice and staggered if a bit difficult (my left hand got a bit tired from hammering away at the X button! then again I spend pretty much all day at the computer :P) Once the genies started piling in I found it pretty difficult to keep them at bay.

I was a little confused at the style change from start page to main gameplay. Seemed a little bit of a shame not to continue using the limited colour palette of the start throughout. That is just a personal preference however! The main gameplay assets themselves were nice and clear, and the little circle in front of my character really helped to figure out which way I was facing. :)

Moped Mayhem by Meenners 2017-05-20T19:01:18Z

This was a fun little game with quite a bit of polish! Charming style to everything, and pretty juicy when you're slamming newspapers into everything/body! The little detail of the chap wiggling his legs as he rides is a nice touch.

I found it really hard to aim at anything smaller than a car, but perhaps that was just me. It didn't feel like the papers were quite going where I expected, or that the hitboxes were a bit small perhaps.

I like the inclusion of achievements popping in, helps gives a sense of progress whilst you're mopedding around the world. Great stuff! :)

Sentai Survivor by Sir Daniev 2017-05-18T20:53:22Z

Ahh my poor little man. You were not long for this kaiju world.

Humans are pretty squishy, so I don't blame him but being taken out so fast. I think however the combination of rather large hitboxes and one-hit-kill felt a bit harsh!

I also managed to get out of bounds by gallantly traversing the beastie on the right, which was pretty funny. At least the man is safe out in the void?

Once I got a handle on things I managed to survive a fair while. I really like the concept, nice job! :D

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-12T12:11:41Z

This was great fun! I played with my partner and I kicked his ass haha. I always appreciate a multiplayer jam game that can be played on the same keyboard.

We both missed the energy dots at first whoops, thought they were part of the background with all the mayhem. Just a smidge too subtle. Caught the text on the second go though, perhaps a bit of a delay and/or a countdown before the match starts might give the player some time to take in the details/descriptions? Though we didn't read the instructions that thoroughly so that's on us really!

This is so polished it looks fantastic, everything fits together nicely. I can really see it as a full on release. Really nice way to tackle the theme too.

Great job!!

Small World Smasher by howardcs 2017-05-04T07:11:57Z

Alas I was defeated at level four. Surprisingly got into it though, I expect it's the satisfaction of clearing the planets.

I think a darker background might be a nice idea to tie in with the planet theme, also since the blue is a little bright for me.

Great job! :D

[BOXAVERSE] by Fran Segura 2017-05-20T14:48:27Z

Wow what a lovely entry! Everything about this is super polished and really high quality. I enjoyed figuring out the puzzles of each era. I'm glad that the magnifying glass was integral to the gameplay rather than just being a tool to zoom in.

I think perhaps actions need a little clarity, at least when you use an item with a character who doesn't use it. Maybe a noise or a little shake of the head. (it took me a while to notice the yellow outline when a character could interact with an object) The hints the little people have over their heads though is a big help.

The game looks and sounds great. The pixel art is super cute, and nice and clear too!

That ending took me aback, I love it! Really fab job overall. :D

Shrunk Down by Chrras 2017-05-16T20:41:03Z

Haha this is pretty charming! Can never trust those kids with their innocent-looking lemonade stands.

Unfortunately I didn't get to find an antidote for poor John. I kept jumping into pits whilst being chased by that big ol' ant. Personally I'd have liked a checkpoint a bit before that section, but maybe I just need to get good as they say. The main thing stopping me just running through the game back to that section was getting stuck on the walls.

I do like how you spaced out getting John stronger and giving him a little boosts to ramp up the gameplay. Really like how super slow he is at the beginning to give you that sense of uh... shrinking poison by lemonade. :P Good job!

Planetone by shillingburg 2017-05-17T19:09:43Z

This is gorgeous!! I wish I was more musically inclined so I could make a clever tune with this, but I very much enjoyed playing around with this regardless. The UI is simple and clear and your choice of colours is super appealing.

Only suggestion I can really think of is having the option to spin the world round with WASD or the arrow keys. I think that would be pretty handy.

Sorry I don't have much in the way of constructive feedback. I imagine there's a lot you could do to expand it, but as it is it feels like a completely package.

Really lovely job <3

Planetone by shillingburg 2017-05-17T19:09:43Z

Whoops, so enthusiastic I posted twice!

Beyond the Deep by yojammerjammer 2017-05-03T20:00:04Z

Lovely character art! An enjoyable story too as well, exploring how the princess decides to tackle her small world is a nice way to tackle the jam theme. (SPOILERS) I super dig that finding out the truth was a tragedy, does that make me a terrible person?

I sometimes had to double check who was talking. Just a minor point but I feel perhaps colouring the text for each character might make it a bit easier to figure who's talking at a glance? And something like italics or brackets for the Princess's thoughts would be appreciated I think.

I was pleasantly surprised at the maze/battle section, didn't expect to see it in a visual novel. I feel the scenes that popped up throughout were a little too frequent. It was a nice way to break up going through the maze but I think they could have been spaced out a bit further. Or perhaps that was to do with the path I was taking?

Overall enjoyed my time with this! I got three of the endings and I'll have to make my way through the rest soon! :D

Exploroka by krunoslav 2017-05-20T15:07:46Z

I really like exploring this little world. Reminds me of my early days in Minecraft just running around to see what generated, it's nice. Music would really set the mood, but I see you added that in a post-jam version and it does make a difference!

I think zooming out would make finding the gems too easy, but I would like a way to appreciate the landscape more. Perhaps something like a... spiral tower the ball could climb up to get their bearings?

I collected gems for a few houses but a lack of final goal or challenge other than running around for diamonds didn't keep me motivated for too long I'm afraid. It was nice to see the landscape change when I did give those gems to the houses though.

I do like this entry a lot and it feels like a solid base to expanded on. Lovely job! :)

Fleje World by surfskater2 2017-05-05T09:57:02Z

Oof tough game, but compelling! Once I landed the first time I got more into the swing of things.

Seemed a shame that the planets weren't consistent style-wise but they made for some nice variety for landing! That said I think the landing criteria is a little harsh, the most microscopic wobble made the landing countdown restart.

As well I think a little thrust animation/effect on the rocket would have been a nice way to show speed along with the speedometer.

Good game overall and quite a long experience, I definitely enjoyed playing it! :)

clover fields by jmakegames 2017-05-05T12:11:34Z

I'm surprised at how well you've gotten the photo and the pixel art to mesh! They look really good together. The way the trees breathe really sells the little world aspect of it I think.

Really nice project you've made, I got a lot of out watching the little armies have at it.

Nice name too. ;P

Antnator by sachos345 2017-05-05T13:03:30Z

This game kicked my ass! Thank you for putting up a vid so I could see what else was in the game. Gutted I couldn't make it to the God mode pickup! Super surprised to see a Boss at the end too, that's pretty cool.

I love Antnator, he's so very Arnie-esque. xD What a stride he has.

I think my main problem is with the small platforms that you can't jump through. I'm generally really conservative with ammo so I didn't find that a problem, but the little platforms on level 2 put a proper crimp in my day. I would suggest having a few more of them and having them a bit closer together perhaps. Or at least build it up in such a way that the player gets used to the extent of their jump before having enemies in the way.

Nice job on tackling all aspects of the game though. If you do another jam it might be worth bringing the scale back so it's one or two well-tested levels. That said you did get a lot out of the assets and gameplay you made! Good job. :D

CORO by sunnray 2017-05-20T10:25:04Z

I ate plenty of food, but no honour and glory. It was in my little buggy heart all along.

I got pretty into taking out all the bugs but once I noticed they were respawning I wasn't compelled to continue. Maybe a win condition promising that glory for defeating all the bugs on the table? :P

The controls were kinda tricky at first but I got used to them after a couple rounds, but once you have a whole bunch of bugs after you it's super difficult to take them out. That was the cause of the majority of my deaths!

It's interesting that you lose points for eating food, which emphasizes not getting shot over running away and chowing down on some grapes. That was unexpected but a nice addition.

Lastly really interesting choice of music but I almost feel it was too chill compared to the miniature war that happening. Sort of made me feel that was distant from the action going on, as much as I enjoyed the track!

Overall I enjoyed my time scuttling about taking out the BB crew. :D

Daily Routine: the smallest worlds are the ones we get stuck in by Samurai Spark 2017-05-20T09:00:05Z

I really like your take on the theme. Alas, I could could only reach 6 cereal per second. I'm not the cereal-eating madwoman I thought I was.

I liked the little details in the background and then finding out those little details would help me escape my loop! It's a nice twist that I imagine must have been difficult to get the right amount of subtley vs noticeable especially within the timeframe but I think you did a great job.

Everything feels nice and polished, but like a few others have said a wee bit of music would have rounded the thing off nicely. Or perhaps conversely have a little music start playing when you start figuring out how to break your loop... I'm just typing off the top of my head though.

Lovely job overall! :D

Just Another Pocket Universe by Owen Davies 2017-05-16T07:12:33Z

Congrats on your first Dare man! Nice job on managing to fit everything in, gameplay, graphics, music etc. I got pretty determined to fill my tiny universe up with little people. xD

I couldn't quite tell when I had selected something from my inventory, might be handy to have the cursor change in some way to indicate what I've picked up.

I would have liked to have interacted with the people/chemistry I placed since I had a little character to move around too.

I think like others have said your scope was too large all things considered. But good job on giving it a solid shot anyhow! :)

I, Mighty the Game! by Maks 2017-05-05T09:32:32Z

This was a really enjoyable game! Pleased my little dominion finally found enlightenment.

While the bar at the bottom was super helpful telling me what obstacles I could place, I found it got in the way sometimes towards the bottom of the map. An option to collapse/uncollapse would have helped there I think.

Graphics are cute and consistent throughout. The frustrated running anim as they tried to break into each others territory gave me a good chuckle. The little people have a lot of personality for a few pixels!

Had a lot of fun, great game!

Talk Isn't Cheap by Riker Greenslade 2017-05-19T09:49:18Z

Oh wow this is lovely. The presentation is fantastic and having the layers of sounds/music build up on each other is so satisfying and fun. The way the music evolves and changes with upgrading communication is just so so good!

I think the descriptions of the techs and builds should be up on the right hand side near the buttons. I missed the descriptions/information initially since they were at the bottom of the screen a fair ways away, and they're a good funny read too! And perhaps having the communication you haven't unlocked be a little clearer or even have a wee symbol by them.

Man I'm gonna have to go back and play this again later, it's very polished and I lost track of time with it! The whole things feels very juicy, especially when communication starts pinging off all over the place.

Looking forward to seeing that victory screen if you're still developing post-dare, I think that would round the experience off very nicely.

Fantastic game <3

I super enjoyed this! I don't think there's anything enlightening I can say that I'm sure others haven't already mentioned but I shall try anyway!

Art/sound/atmosphere-wise everything gels together so well and cohesively it's all fantastic. The scream and the animation that go with it are so so good. The movement of creature feels great as well with it's many segments and all.

I adore the change of scale when you first encounter the people. I didn't see the screenshots so that was a nice surprise for me!

Last puzzle was a bit under-telegraphed. Mostly because I went to hit the upper platform and wasn't precise enough, so assumed it wasn't interactable. Perhaps it's hitbox could be a bit more generous (or perhaps it is and I can't aim!) If there was time I'd say maybe offer a simpler puzzle earlier on with the walkway, that's perhaps blatantly blocking something (like you did the rocks before), so you know it's something that can be moved by the player. I know you can't cram everything into a game jam though!

Really well done though, I had a great time with it. :)

High Noon Robots by RoxXx88 2017-05-18T20:27:48Z

I played the jam version so forgive me if I mention anything that you've changed post-jam!

Love a bit of splitscreen hijinks, that was a lot of fun. Almost over too soon but best to be short and sweet!

I found it a little frustrating being hit from below. By the time I saw a bullet it had hit me at that point. Maybe I'm just too slow on the draw (as evidenced at getting my ass kicked on multiplayer) but perhaps a slightly more zoomed out view would help?

As others have said camera turning would be helpful. Once one player gets below another they've got a super huge advantage.

Everything looks super polished. Lovely robot models and environment, and the music fits in nicely.

I feel there's loads of potential with this if you decide to develop it further. Really great job. :D

My Other World by Formona 2017-05-17T21:05:41Z

Lovely unique entry, there's a lot more content in here than I expected! I really liked that you tried to tackle/convey the subject in a few different ways.

Few thoughts to chuck your way. The instructions could do with lingering a bit longer, or having a 'ready' button at the bottom when you're ready to continue.

I think maybe levels one and two could be swapped around to have a steadier ramp in difficulty. I floundered a bit with the last level, the 'most positive word' felt subjective more than definitive. I really like the concept though, I dig me some word games.

The atmosphere is great. Of course the visuals are wonderful and I'm proper into the enemy design. The music is also very fitting and sets the mood very well.

Lovely game, great job. :D
