This is a game with a nice idea, good graphics and fine story. I like you made inventitory and some other details even without the time.

This was a valiant effort, but I don't think you had enough in your game to really sell the concept. The controls were a little wonky. I really liked the graphics you were able to put together, though, and the music was really good! Thanks for sharing this. :)
Good attempt!
Thank you all very much for your feedback!
Okay there is not much to do in this game, but I like the music and graphics.
That's the great start of a game. Didn't hear the music at first because it was so low. Good job on your first LD, I hope to see you particpate in the future :)
- Haha just got 25000 dollar and thought that some other inventory will come but then when i visited this page and read then came to know that this game ha only 2 items - Music is what i like very much about this game
Thanks to everyone else who has commented feedback, i have been improving the game since Ludum Dare ended and it looks good, will post a newer version for people to play after voting and my exams!
Wow, I can't believe you used java to make this. :)
The game play is very smooth and I have no problem with the controls or moving around. I added a bunch humans and science tables and experienced no slowdown whatsoever. I get what you were going after even if it is not complete.
The graphics are a nice touch, they remind me of old dos games that I used to play.
It would be nice to bind some keys to opening the menus. It is tedious to have to click the close button every time I open a menu, but maybe you are going to add this feature later.
Great effort! :)
Please, not downloads, give web version. But in any case game is great for compo. Good job!
Not bad
Very cool. I liked watching all of the people run around. If expanded, I think this could really become an awesome game/simulator.
If you go to the inventory and click the first item, it gives you more people. I don't know if that's a feature or not, so just wanted to tell you about it.
Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! You have made a very solid product, with great graphics and music!
The art style was nice and fit the game. It did freeze after a few minutes for some reason though.
Smooth gameplay, I liked that the background seemed to be a pocket. Being able to place people is fun, looking forward to seeing the post-comp version of this!
nice start of a game but not really sure how to play it. But as you say it's not finished yet.
+1 for using java which also is my language of choice :)
Sorry man, I didn't really get what was going on or what I was supposed to do.
But from the size of the inventory I see you had tons of plans for this Ludum Dare. Maybe next time start with a smaller idea. It looks like you bit of more then you could chew on this one.
@arch-a-type in my post-compo version i have added your suggestions
@ajayajayaj yeah that was a bug with the inventory which is why it has now been scrapped favouring just the hotbar allowing for there to be more precise selection of items, and its less buggy
@mrchippy what system are you using, may help for future development. I am also sorry that this occured from all other tests it seems to be fine
@rick, yeah was a bit too ambitious especially for a teenager with an extremely busy schedule, i will head your advice, sorry that there wasn't any guides to the game that is being added so that new players can tell what they need to do. Thank you for telling me that you didn't understand it. Helps for future reference.
It was confusing at the start, but began to make sense as the game progressed. The graphics are fairly nice, and the story was also nice.
Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! I liked the music a lot and am curious to see how you imagine it taking shape with more time. I did have the controls freeze up on me a few times.
Hey guy,
Nice work for a first Jam, as you were alone I can only respect your work ! The music is fine, not to complex but the loop is not too annoying.
I think you wanted to go on a too complex game, but I respect that as I did my first LD too and I wasn't that prepared too.
I rated your game and I hope to see you on next jams !
Great work buddy ! Do not hesitate to come see our job too I'll be pleased to have you feedback !
@tddawson which OS are you using?, so i know which ones are having troubles
My humans tend to get suicidal and disappear.. poor humans. The concept behind it seems interesting, maybe a little too ambitious for a ldjam project (especially being the first one)
I liked the music and the graphics had something going on... too bad it was too much of an ambitious idea.
I recommend you to maybe put the files somewhere else than Mediafire. Maybe itch.io or Gamejolt may work better for another jam.
Interesting that you used Java, its not very common and many people have to download the runtime to play it. I did find this couple of bugs that freeze the game, I believe it involves the chemistry set. I got a stacktrace for you if you are interested (using windows 10 by the way)
``` Exception in thread "Display" java.lang.NullPointerException at net.oaster2000.game.gui.HotbarGui.update(HotbarGui.java:44) at net.oaster2000.game.Game.tick(Game.java:170) at net.oaster2000.game.Game.run(Game.java:114) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) ```
In any case, it was a nice attempt, keep up the good work!
Congrats on your first Dare man! Nice job on managing to fit everything in, gameplay, graphics, music etc. I got pretty determined to fill my tiny universe up with little people. xD
I couldn't quite tell when I had selected something from my inventory, might be handy to have the cursor change in some way to indicate what I've picked up.
I would have liked to have interacted with the people/chemistry I placed since I had a little character to move around too.
I think like others have said your scope was too large all things considered. But good job on giving it a solid shot anyhow! :)
@owen-davies (Sorry, just saw your comment). I'm using MacOS.
@tddawson thanks for that
Good start! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGAiipylkqo
