This is amazing. COUUUUCHH MAAAAN !

This is amazing. COUUUUCHH MAAAAN !
Wow.... I guess my computer couldn't calculate enough of those collisions and I escaped ! GG me !
Wow that was awesome ! Looks pretty commercial to me :p
Very super nice, and fun ! Balance and control both great, just dive into the action !
I need to figure out some stuff to make a web version works. Even more figuring out to get a mac or linux build ! So not for a few days I'm sorry :\ (Also, judging was not supposed to happen so soon !)
@Starlight glimmer is the best poney : I guess he's watching some concerto, judging by the way he moves he hand !
@Soundless_dev : Yeah I know, I forgot to implement the change I was supposed to make, but I had so much trouble making everything work correctly that let's consider it's just a feature :D
@ajayajayaj : Well thank you, that's exactly what I was hoping for :D
EASTER EGG SPOILER :
-Delivery boy is Fry from Futurama.
-Why is the player John ? Because John Carmack AKA crazy about VR dude.
@fullmontis : I promise I will do this kind of change for the next LD, I'll have more experience this time ! :P
Can't run the game. You may have forgotten to include the data files with the executable (Error : Missing 'app.info' in Data folder)
Funsies ! I don't understand how it relates to the theme though :p
May have been awesome with some kind of way to strafe !
Trying to get it running on firefox (windows 7) but not succes so far. Just stuck on loading page. Pressing space makes the loading screen go up, then I only got a blue background.
That was AMAZING ! I really loved the setup and the way you literally have to THROW dice at your ennemy ! :D :D :D Many funz with the narration/dialogues !
The only downside in the mechanic is that when you throw your dice, you cant move anymore, making the only strategy : go as far as you can and spam the attack button :P
I had to glitch jump on overhangs to progress, but appart from that it's a REALLY FUN game :D I liked the fight against the little brother, having to understand the simple mechanics and then using it against him :D
Getting quite repetitive fast but I loooooove the atmosphere, the ambience and the graphics :)
I don't really know what to do in the game. I tried every dialogue possible with red but it always ends and then I'm just stuck on this scene, no able to interact with anything. I can even walk the character out of bound, but that's useless :D
After understanding how it works, the movement control was pretty great ! Aiming was difficult though :)
This game is AWESOME. The concept is sooo great I love it :D
Despite being a bit slow, I like the game quite a lot ! And I love the graphics !
I really liked the combat mechanics. Speed of projectiles, speed of the characters and enemies were well balanced :)
Wow. This game is not finished :D I had fun glitching up out of the screen though :D
This is amazing. Wouldnt mind a little bit more control though :P
Amesowe game, owesame 3d, asewome music, awemose mood, awoseme fun, aweosme.
I want to know the meaning of the secret message !
I like the concept but I would like to have feedback everytime I hit ennemies !
It's fun ! Way easier with a pad, but you still need to use your keyboard to jump in this case :P
Too bad the camera is not helping when falling in the sand(?) !
Really cool !
Needed some time to understand that I had double jump capability (actually... the sounds made me understand it !). The music sure is amazing ! :P
Too bad the camera doesn't help (looking high up when I need to see under me because I'm falling etc...) And I got stuck after falling to my death --> never died, got stuck falling for eveer :D
Stuck at room 6, but I love this puzzle game ! :)
Funny little game :) The controls are a bit wonky though :P
My computer is heating up a lot, but that's pretty fun !
Though as a bullet hell, but not quite the fun ! It should'nt close but just go back to the menu when you die :)
Crashes everytime I press F near (I supposed : computer and piano) an interactable object :\
AHAHAHAHAH I Escaped ! Thank you for making me train my brain xD
Pretty fun but DAMN!.. That's a confusing game :P
I took great fun scaring the blue people out of the map eheheh :)
Pretty serious to get in, loads of information dropped at you on the first play, but it's a really nice puzzle game :D
Hey ! I recognize this game from your updates on twitter ! Pretty difficult, reminds me of a Worms rope race, a bit more unwieldy :O
I finally survived and them... WHATTT ?? I Have to to it again longer ?? Dis game hard :(
Camera or movement are making things really difficult, but the game is pretty fun by itself !
Fast-paced, hardcore, adrenaline, chain retry. Loved it :D
Too bad you have not kept the same style you used for the intro screen ! Pretty simple game, but the music really fits the situation !
Are the entries with an exclamation point bugged ? :D
Oh crap... I really left it ? Whoups...
Concept was simple enough to understand without any explaination, yet the game was really satisfying :D
I got stuck on the 3rd or 4th airport though, had my ticket and stuff, but being behind the gate would not end the level :/
I felt lost more than anything, but I managed to retrieve the book and the chicken, PNJ's rewarding me torches both time :D And I looooooved the music :)
Ahahah that was awesome ! I'm still amazed so much people survived the 432th world bombing, 9238th biblical flood and the fact that their planet basically never had any core ? :D
I really like the art and sounds !
I loved the concept and graphics, but the game felt suuuuuuuuuuuper hard :D
Holy crap I loved this game ! I would love to see a multiplayer version, it's like go on steroids :O
Too bad I could not test the game with friends, AI felt a very weak !
I like how the game felt, except for the jump that was soooo weird (Or was it a teleportation ?)
I really liked the tiny planet and the rotating background !
Pretty frustrating when you miss your shot and you know you won't have enough time to come back to shot again, because you'll end up crushed :(
I like the viking, but the game ran really poorly for some reason (windows 7 64, core i7 6700, gtx 1060)
Yeah, double links, Pro-style :D
@linky439 : Yeah I gave up on music, I really need to practice this someday, but for now I think practicing pixelart would be a little more rewarding :D
Thanks everyone for the feedback :D
That's funny how some people found the game either really hard or too easy, meaning the balance is enough for a game jam I guess ? :D I should definitly have made instructions clearer and maybe added some ingame instructions/tutorial (or just be better at map design to guide the player effortlessly)
Thanks you for the help on the linux build @gagapete and @starlight-glimmer-is-best-poney, this is the first time I'm trying a linux release, I'll try to figure out how to inclue this to the build :P
I guess it's not going to be that easy to definitly move away from windows :P
@jason-kennedy Timmy is obviously very very strong, look at his arm ! :D
@simonhutchinsom I already tried a HTML5 version but the performances were super crap. I won't have a mac available at home until the end of august. I'll try sneakily using one at work :)
@vivoubos Yeah I promise next LD I make some kind of reminder/tutorial message pop-up at every important event to help the player remember what he needs to know :P (No promise on the music though, but I'll try to have at least something)
@damdoshi You would not believe how long it took to make this level. I wanted a giant level fun to navigate through. At first it was supposed to be 128x512, but I had to make it 32x128 (after a brief 64x256 try) because... well... time :sob:
@estebe I tried making cool special moves, so it's not another boring plateformer, and then I built the map. I guess to really push the player to use them I need a better map
@ultrarat Recharging places do actually have a blinking glow around them, but maybe not visible enough. That's one thing I need to improve next time, having a way to make sure people are seeing what they are supposed to see. (Really hard with a cheap monitor not really well calibrated)
@guckstift Actually, Timmy became a journalist in 2032 after a very brief wrestler career (He's still somehow really popular in Nigeria). He got married soon after but don't want any children because he's worried about the state of the planet :pensive:
@yopox Timmy actually says "hey" everytime you pick him up, because he doesn't like being picked-up !
Nice little puzzle game :)
The door animation was a little hard to notice, I waited a long time in the first level for something to happen once I activated the switch :P
Damn was it a good game :) I'm still wondering what I missed, I should play again sometimes ! (Please don't spoil anything, want to find out alone :D)
Aahahhah
I really liked the game, I wish we could play longer tracks and multiple maps back to back, while keeping track of the times. And a level were you'll have to evade the drug poliiiiiice OH YEAAAAAAAH. Yes, I enjoyed the game. :)
I managed to get to the 4 screen, damn is this game hard !
But it's pretty cool, I liked the atmosphere and the graphics. The battery bar is unloading pretty fast though, I felt the game was all about getting the information by camping at the charging station and then rushing as fast as possible across the map :D
AHHAHAHAHAAHAH
Sfx are hilarious. understanding french and the french accent made them even better <3
Oh and... Jean-Bobby : BEST CHARACTER NAME EVER. ``` Aïeuuuuuh ! Brrrrbrrbrbrrrrr (boss fire explosion) ```
First "action RPG" I played for this ludum dare, definitly a good one :)
Why would you consume energy when the character is falling ? :(
Also, I couldn't use the 'E' key to swap between characters.
I loved it ! I loved it ! I loved it !! :D
I just wished the game was a little longer, and I had no real reason to chose anything else than the power upgrade.
That moment when the water was so dark and I suddenly realized the usefulness of the sonar was amazing !
(Plus the submarine is so cuuuute)
Nice tycoon game ! Really difficult but really satisfying, great for realaxing time. Graphics reminded me of simcity and those really early tycoon games :D
I would love to invest more time on this game with more choices, I love that kind of text based game :D Plus graphics are gorgeous.
YEAH ! Super nice game, loved the switching and refueling mechanic ! Powerups felt GREAT, graphics are spot on ! Game overall was really fun !
On the critic side now, music felt a little bit out of place, that's it. :P
Waoh, graphics and music are realy polished, could have been a really nice GBA game :D
I should have read the comments to find out how to put the game in fullscreen, playing on this size was making me feel... nostalgic ! BE RIGHT BACK going to get my gameboy back :p
The mood was spot on, zombies + ponies was perfect.
The game is really difficult though, I had so much trouble moving the way I wanted to. Everytime I used the portal was on accident, never managed to do it on purpose :D
I liked the game :D For more immersion using the joystick and pushing the buttons with the mouse, you could have put the game in a virtual arcade machine :D
Oh man... This game is almost flawless O_O You need to release this on the appstore, that would be a perfect phone/tablet game :D
- Graphics are perfect, attention to detail was amazing (loved the scarf flying in the wind) - Loved doing loops after loops after loops, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D - Cute cloud design - Really simple mechanics making it easy to grasp and understand.
(On windows 7 + dual screen, I couldn't run the game fullscreen) Next step would be to rework the difficulty by adding some content, had to stop because the game was just becoming repetitive after a score of 70000+ :)
Daaaamn, the ghost spawn timing is the worse :( Just enough time to evade the last ghost blast that a new one pops up, and I need to jump again :p Good job on your first LD though :D
I really like the art, but no instructions ingame, and the drone your controls feel reaaaallly sluggish. Tried multiple time to suck energy from other drones and turrets, but got shut down everytime before having done it successfully :(
This game is SUPER hard, but pretty <3
Much like the others, controls felt a bit wonky. The game was fun but firing was definitly too strange, firerate felt slower on the second round (For some reason?). The difficulty is also waaaaaay high right from the start.
I looooooved the art style !
Hey ! It's a pretty simple game, with a nice Binding of Isaac feel to it :)
I found the Artifact on my first run and died dumbly, got it on the second run though :D
Having more time, I think trying to improve the graphics would have been the best use of your time, then maybe adding a second type of ennemy.
Level generation was perfect, and the game is fast enough to allow multiple runs
Ahhhhhh ! I love those little toys, they are so cuuute :D
AI is a bit stupid though, walking into holes and stuff, but HEY ! Ldjam ! xD
I have no idea what I'm doing but things are moving everywhere, and I can learn about which atom likes to fuse with which other atom :D
The camera is pretty strange :D
I managed 1,390,000 but for some reason, I was always shooting too high up and the enemies were shooting too low, getting more and more noticeable the longer the game went :D
I liked the bullet-hell feel you start getting at max level, except that you are the boss shooting millions of bullets while rotating in the middle of the screen. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D
I sacrificed so much batteries on the last level  I would say the battery feels a bit clunky to control, but maybe it's just because batteries are supposed to be heavy ! The music felt very atmospherish (is this even a word ?) and the batteries were so cute !
:sparkles: OHM :sparkles:
@exewin : Ahah thanks, I grew up with Warcraft and Doom, had a blast making this one !
@static-ddq : DAT ICON ! I play-tested it on a friend, he said the same thing about the previous icon. I thought a pentagon with a skull would symbolize demonic influence pretty well :yum:
@slizzben : Yeah I should have made the game chose just one noise per event, but that's part of the "clue" about what happened with the event you just clicked :yum:
@andrea : Hey thanks ! I'll be happy if this brings 10 cumulated minutes of joy to people on this planet
@jimbly : Damn those filthy humans !
@eclahn The mouthed sfx is always my favorite part of doing a game for ludum dare : 15-30 minutes of pure siliness to blow off steam
@jupiter-hadley Ohh yehahhh, I'm on teeeveeee ! Sorry the game was so repetitive (bad luck really, you missed much of the events)
@velvetlobster 5 days is pretty impressive, even when clicking randomly it's usually pretty difficult to do less than 20-40 days. Good job sir ! As for the music... well... I'm not proficient enough with this engine yet, and the sounds and the music clashed together. So I ended up removing the music from the game, to leave only the sounds. Maybe I should have removed the sounds and kept the music ?
@arvejeitor : Grew up on Warcraft, Diablo and Doom, that may explain some stuff
@jotson : Ahah thanks, happy that the sounds played as intended
@arkiruthis : Thanks ! I like to focus on a different aspect of game making in every LD. Trying out a new engine meant that I needed to focus on something else than coding. Plus I haven't made any pixelart for a long time. (Hmmmmm, I may play your game again tonight... need to beat it !)
@captaindreamcast & @nekonyo : I plan on releasing an update a better event system (bye bye the strange lag on game load-up) and wayyyyy more events (and graphics for events, which were initially planned but would have taken too much time). I'll ping you both ;)
also @nekonyo : What's your OS + web browser ? Debbuging sound problems is always a nightmare
> I felt there was information that wasn’t being given do me. Basically, I would have liked more feedback about my actions. Even still, this was a great game.
> If I could add one thing it would be for the change in the numbers from a choice to somehow pop out or linger on the screen for a second. I couldn’t always remember what my old numbers were, and thus what the effect of the new choice was. Even an up/down green/red under the impacted numbers might be cool.
@pkenney and @incobalt : I will definitly consider this for the post-jam version. I was just not proficient enough with this engine to do that kind of stuff in time
Pretty nice mood ! Found it very difficult at first, sneaking around and trying to get an opportunity, and then BAM ! MANA ! Thanks to having almost converted a town and a centurion took it back. Then I started genociding every enemies, but they were respawning too fast. And then for 20 minutes it was just a back and forth between me and them :)
That game is brilliant ! Perfectly fits the theme while still being fun. Only missing a soundtrack
Great job great job great job great job great job !
Nooooo I got trashed by the bot on the lowest difficulty ! My tactic was just "assign the fastest guy to make score" and then trying to find a guy to defend and a guy to kick the ball to they side
I would have loved having more control over the game, with some kind of one-use items for example.
Bomba !
The controls were a bit clunky to use, since we need to fly and kick at the same time so much, and the 2 controls are mapped for the same hand.
But other than that : Awesome game with great graphics !! I love your style ! Great take on the theme !
40 ! Pretty hard on a touchpad :P Very nice and funny game, I always laugh at the homemade mouth sounds
A bit too easy, so the game end-up being a bit long and repetitive. But it looks good ! The forgs are cuuuute :smiley_cat:
Wow wow woooow wooooooooooow. Didn't finish it (got taken down on the level you get ambush by that guys gang) but daaaaaaaaaaaaamn the atmosphere was awesome, the music was so great, the gatling gun felt SO RIGHT and powerful.
This interpretation of the theme was fantastic.
I would only complain about the lack of menu : I had to alt+F4 from the game :yum:
I don't know if I had any other choice, but I felt so bad for cutting the doc away (and dropping the coffin by accident at the same time...).
Wow, nice game, nicely balanced and pretty satisfaying level design :O
Woops, I sascrificed them all, as if they were juste some kind of ressource. And then I read the instructions and played again.
0 died from cold, 5 sacrificed for batteries (1 for me, 1 for keeping them warm, 3 for the ship) and 7 saved.
The music is nice but doesn't really fit the icy planet I think. The graphics on the other hand are VERY well done and cute. Good job
Hmmmm, the game ends up being luck-based, since you have limited time and you can't visit all the pens in time. Maybe I missed some hints about their location ? Also the movement fels really wonky.
Other than that the graphics were pretty cool, I really liked the models
The graphics looks "ugly" but are surprisingly amazing ! They set up a nice psychedelic mood with the music and characters  I loooved the wirintg !
Nice game, very cool sounds and music ! :)
Flying sheep around and throwing them in the pit is fun for a few minute, but then having a simple counter or even a "sheep sacrified by minutes" would have been a nice improvement !
Don't worry about your graphics, the music was very well done/chosen (Bosca Ceoil doesn't always lead to music that nice :p).
Practice makes everything better with time
Hmmm, I don't know, I just ended up playing the whole game looking at the map.
But I really liked the graphics !
"No time for stained glass in forty-eight hours"
The game is both frustrating and imitating very well the effect of religion : - "I have no idea what I'm doing, but it's working !" - "Oh no, the gods are not with me today, what have I done ??"
Kind of a nice experience ! Ahd the graphics and music are great to set you in the mood
Pew pew pew pew pink lazer ! Despite being "ugly" for lack of time, it was surprisingly funny and easy to handle. Made me think of a simple diablo 3 with just the sorcerer and the red lazerbeamthingy spell
Stupidly easy to understand, stupidly easy to play, love it !
HHmmmm, I'm on linux (ubuntu 18.04) and I have no idea how to launch your game :p
@efealacamli Nice ! Please ping me again when it's available ;)
Nice throwback to 90's / early 2000 exploration games ! I found the ball puzzle pretty hard and not really fun, since the ball were so fast and "heavy".
I spent some very quality 30 minutes
@snufkinshat : Yeah I really sucked at visual feedback for this one, I had a lot of ideas after the event to improve the user experience, but it was obviously too late  (And also, snufkin best character !)
@deathstorm : Thank you kind sir. I'll still try to do better next time, the "simple structure" was just du to the fact that I was discovering a new engine, and had a lot of trouble working with it efficiently :joy:
The graphics / sounds / music combo is amazing. I had some trouble with the bullet hell level, but it was good trouble ! Nice job !
Ahah I liked that one very much :D
I see you also belong to the mouth sounds team :P
Super nice and educative :D I just end up being alone with no food around and had to wait a very long time, but nothing spawned so I wuit the game :(
I enjoyed it even if I could not finish it :D It's basically a dangerous killer totem taming game
Reminds me a lot like Binding of Isaac. Icons are not really explicit, and it's missing a lot of visual feedback, to understand if you missed or touched the enemies for example.
I really like the style but the game is so slooow :(
Kinda got boring without any rule, but I had fun with the blood !
It doesn't feel like a game on a computer, but it would have been amazing on a phone. Tapping on the screen in rhythm, eyes closed, music beating in your head. Yeahhhh
Happy little forest ! :D
I loved it and I only have ONE remark. There is no drawback to pushing the spacebar all the time, so why make it a choice for the player ? My thumb felt a little sore at the end, but I had a beautiful forest, so who cares ? :D
@kiwii I ran it on linux (Ubuntu 18.04) without any trouble ! Maybe you didn't find any plant to grow ? Also, you have to stay close to the growing plant when you find one :)
@tupto I actually spent so much time on the animations that I ran out of time to fiddle with the rest of the game ^^' (And you can actually notice the missing animations, each animal was supposed to get 5) I also changed the AI behavior quite late and was even less happy with it. As for the music, big thanks to Wolfram Tones, big carry for this entry :D
@jimanzium and @yeti-kid More options were actually planned at first, but I ran into time issue since I started with this engine like... less than a week ago :P
@hcursino Ahah yeah the game was supposed to be a lot more like control your "pokemon" by proxy using food and various items. I may have click-baited too much :P I would have loved to add things like abilities to the 4 different animals. Also, my games need more juice. I need to be more proficient with the engine and reduce the scope to polish a lot more !
@stanov Yeah I spent wayyyy to much time on the graphics, and got lost on the gameplay stuff :P
@Zliebowitz The issue about the collision detection is that I spent like 5 minutes trying to finish up the different characters after having done the graphcis :D I made the game using a single placeholder graphic for everyone, and the game was intended to have 4 "characters", but they were really done on the last minutes. Next time I really need to focus on gameplay and try to focus on making a game I can "finish" in less than 8 hours :D
@kaeveris Sorry about the instructions, next time I will do a tinier game so I can polish it up real good, lesson learned :D And I should really stop using a different engine every Ludum Dare, or I won't have the time to do a proper game :(
@themadprogramer Ahah thanks for the feedback, I think I would have done a better job at polishing the game with a smaller project or better knowledge of the engine (and even better, BOTH !), and then I spent a very long time on the graphics :(
@awerar The idea was to lure the animals to "control" them remotely, but I really could not figure out a better animal AI that would allow for better control, so I kinda gave up and spent lots of time on the graphics instead :( I was supposed to also make a second projectile to harm the animals, but that's barbaric ! The third projectile that was supposed to be implemented was some kind of pill or potion to heal an animal.
@bailey That's like the best compliment, I was very happy to have made a nice menu :D
Yeahh I saved the city ! One building left
I loooved the mix between the 2d pixel-art sprites and the 3d low-poly environment ! The gameplay is pretty repetitive, and the controls a little bit wonky (jump was difficult to manage, I got stuff in multiple places) and I feel the game would have felt better with more speed and a lot of feedback about what is happening out of screen. And the sound design didn't felt like it lacked anything, so that's pretty good I guess :D
When you read that the controls are steer, boost and restart, you know you're going to get fast :D
I would have loved to go even faster though, with a little bit more reactivity from my input. I guess the sheep was too bouncy to pickup enough speed boosts, that's why I feel like this ?
The graphics are pretty cool, that dither effect suits the game well :P
Nice ! It's like a strategic clicker !
I really liked the art and especially the music ! Really soothing :) I would have love more feedback when I do things, more juiiiice.
I don't really have any idea on how to improve the gameplay, but maybe some kind of "decay", some mechanic where your fishes start to disappear, since too much fish makes the game spammy :D
Link to the web version is broken for some reason, and I'm running linux, not windows :(
Ahahaha the ambiance was pretty cool (graphics, theme and music !), finding out that I could just "industrialize" my workflow with the tractor was pretty fun :D
Maaaan that's some very hard game :D
Maybe you could expand on the idea that the daughter get caught on stuff sometimes and has trouble following ? With some puzzle mechanics or just to protect or because she's vulnerable to stuff your character is not ?
And great music ! :D
Ok this is actually hilarious and very well made. Also... WTF ! WAS THAT A BIRD'S SHADOW ? xD
The sound work is also amazing !
The only complain I have is.... what is this debug pink triangle at the start ? :O
Wow, that was pretty amazing O_O
Ahah that's like flappy bird with a huge twist :D
But I felt that there is a huge delay between the player's action and the result, making the game frustrating at times ! Also my fish got stuck beyond the bottom of the screen, I had not lured him back up, I would probably broken every record possible by letting the game run a very long time :P
Nice experiment nontheless ! Good job :D
Input or controls are a bit wonky, and the game feels a bit too easy -> You can focus on keeping a friend well "nose fed" and hydrated for the whole game.
The theme interpretation and the sound design on the other hand are pretty amazing, nice ! :D
Nice graphics ! Sometimes simpler is just plain better :P
At first I tried to play the game without reading anything and was pretty lost about the controls and what to do. Maybe you could have included some kind of feedback for the mouse hovering on thing, just to understand it's mouse controlled ? Otherwise, great fun ! :D
@dsf100 oh yeah haven't noticed it at first, maybe because it was under the mouse ! My bad ! :D
No linux build ! I guess no macos build either in that case, you may want to update the links :p
Also .rar files are very annoying to uncompress on linux, .zip is available easily on windows, mac and linux ! :D
@mantaraytv-games Yeahhh thanks for the linux build addition ! ;)
The screenshots and the itch.io page were kinda familiar, but I hadn't played the game yet. Felt strange until I noticed I already came to this page but couldn't play the game :P
Well that was pretty simple but fun ! It's short enough to not get bored by the same game mechanic, but maybe a longer version could expand on the idea of some blocks being able to break some other blocks (just like the TNT is the only block that can break the yellow blocker).
Also I realise it only now, but the graphics are pretty simple but effective. I guess it'sa combination of a small color palette, blocky particles and the smoke effect.
Nice ! Feels like with polished graphics and more JUIIIICE it could be pretty cool marketable product :O
I wondered why the game was so hard at first, and then understood the replay value when I got my first card from the gachapon :P
Hey ! That's like a tower defense, pretty nice :p
Graphics are very nice, sounds are well used. And I really like the fact that you have to use the weapons strategically :)
I guess the updated version improve the game in every way I would have liked it to !
The game is reaaaaaally hard and unfair sometimes (especially when bouncing a missile, and it just keep falling indefinitly) ! xD Also I would have loved to know what I should protect my "ball" from and what I was allowed to let pass through the shield.
But otherwise, good job for this entry ;)
Ahahah I'm really bad at this kind of game. I did an impressive 440 points ! Woohooooo :cake:
Maybe the screen readability (color choice) could be improved ? That's the only idea I got right now to make it better :p
Wooooaah that game is hard ! I didn't get passed day 3 :O Maybe I did not understand some game mechanic, but it seam keeping the toxicity low is pretty difficult, even using the purifier :D
Bigger bullets ! Autoshoot ! Also the music was not looping, I don't know if it's a bug on linux or it was designed that way :P
"P. S. if you are interested in any of the Code: Be aware it´s messy." Don't worry, it's Ludum Dare. It will ALWAYS end-up messy. You are trying to implement things before a deadline, not trying to make a maintenable game. Once LD is over, it's over :D
I had a craving for NES game right before the ludum dare week-end, thank you sir for that :D
It's kinda hard to give feedback on this one, since I grew up with a SNES, but not an NES, and so I don't really know what is a technical difficulty or impossibility or what is a choice imposed by the console's limitation :P I'm definitly going to try to do something for the NES in the future !
Ah ! About that Linux build, I don't know what you used to compress it, but please avoid making rar files for linux and mac os, prefer zip if you can :D
39 years !
I was about to comment about the usefulness of the wall sliding if you can just jump indefinitely, but then I used up all my lower body "snow" :P
Otherwise, it's a nice take on the "god up before the bottom catches you" kind of game :D
That game is very very very frustrating I'm sorry :O
I kept loosing all my inertia randomly will going along some walls, and the timers are set so that you can't make any mistake. That would not been a problem if I felt like I was in control on my character, but the inertia is really really really high and the responsivness really low :O
Nice graphics though :D
My lovely experience so far: - Pushed into the void by my baby mid-air while jumping on a plateform :( - Stepped on baby and killed it :( - Pushed under big block of crusing ice by sliding baby :( - Made it to warmer climate en coconut water :sunglasses:
I had trouble understanding how to climb at first, maybe a possible improvement for next time ? Otherwise, loads of fun :D
I don't really what I was doing, but I won twice :O Also I only noticed that you had 2 ressources "seeds" and "magic" and it was not the quantity of each spells I could cast :p
Don't bash yourself for the art, it's pretty clear and more that enough ! :D
Well done for your very first entry !
Ahah that's very tron-esque ! :D
Need more polish but otherwise very fun ! I would have loved some kind of minimap to take better decisions about my path and the location of the "sphere", so it would feel less random :D
I felt a lack on feedback on what I had to accomplish, I ended up killing a bunch of zombies to get money to open more way. Also the controls feels a bit slow, especially turning to shoot.
BUT ! It's always very fun to shoot at things, and the 3d models were quite good ! I also really liked the map design !
@ovid I'm only 17 month late ! What is happening with the windows download link ? I never encountered the problem, but I'm not on Windows, so I don't really know :/ My only guess is that Windows is actively trying to prevent your from downloading a "random" exe file from the Internet.
@vaincil That's part of the polish missing, the missile are homing as long as you fire them "in range" to your targeting sensors, but there is no visual or audio feedback to let you know that :O Firing blindly just fire them straight to the right.
@incobalt You should be able to place a turret right from the start, they only cost 10 dinobucks :) The music was generate by Wolfram Tones, I applied some reverb, phaser and made them much slower (and the menu music is actually reversed too). Going out chasing asteroids is viable from the start (using the "boost" button to go much faster), especially if you place at least a turret to cover the opposite side where you're going. Lol @that stacking of missiles, it's 100% un-intentionnal, I guess I forgot to actually implement the "autodestruct after X seconds" on them
For the first time ever I think I'll actually work to polish this game in the coming weeks to make a proper post-jam, actually funny version. I'll ping everyone leaving a comment here once it's done :)
Thanks for the feedback ;)
@cppchriscpp Just to be sure, were you trying to "change direction" because the missiles were always firing to the right when no asteroid were at range ? :D Your "pedantic" section is no pedantic at all ! What's funny is that I just started using Famistudio and Milkytracker and intended to actually spend some time making my own music and sounds for this jam. But yeah... One of the easiest thing thing to do to cut corners and have more time is make all the music using Wolfram Tones :D I 100% intend to make my own music for the next version, but I don't think I'll ever commercialize this game
Hmmm, just re-read the licence again. Removing the music right away, because apparently they're dicks ? I read it as "no modify/copy etc... for commercial use", but yeah, it's even worse than that...
@incobalt Yeah they don't even accept any diffusion of any kind, removing the music right away.
Ok this is genius AND itching my retro console craving ! The gameplay mechanics are introduced really well !
I'm on linux and FCEUX worked great, but I couldn't make it work on Higan.
I played it twice because I messed up on my first attempt, trying to maximize my building potential first by having lots of banks and houses. I then realized that you could not reassign buildings :D
I finally understood on my second try that you actually have to build as much builders as possible to fight of the invasion (well... I think ? Maybe I misunderstood something ?)
The game feels a little bit slow and uneventful, but I definitely like the music and the board game feel. Also, noticing that it's turning dark and the invasion is getting closer was a nice use of dynamic lighting :)
I've never done any lisp in my life and I don't really know what I'm doing wrong to run the game. Could you include a quick "how to start the game" please ? :)
I'll be hype to check this game out later if you ping me when you've done it ! :)
Edit : I read the entire log dump that running ./run produced and noticed a reference to a missing libglfw.so.3 so I installed libglfw3 (and libglfw3-dev, but thinking about it now, I should not need that one). It almost ran this time and core dumped, here is the log of the last fiew lines if needed : ```lisp (def win (create-window (integer 800) (integer 800))) (set-title win "Fox Driver") (make-current win) (load-font "DejaVuSans.ttf" (integer 22)) (loop t (thread:lock-mutex *swank-mutex*) (with-exception-handler (game-update) (lambda (x) (println x) (sleep 0.500000))) (thread:unlock-mutex *swank-mutex*)) ((mouse-move 383 . 228) (mouse-enter) (unknown 16)) Compiled shader with success Compiled shader with success (new-poly ()) Segmentation fault (core dumped) ```
@remco pinging you, you may want to read this for your ```gl_window_open``` problem. But for the ```lisp_sqrt``` I have no idea, I've never toyed with lisp :(
Building over @david-york comment, I would suggest using [pyinstaller](https://pypi.org/project/pyinstaller/) to make your executable available to everyone, not just people on windows ;)
That intro was on point, the suspense and delivery was superb
The gameplay is not groundbreaking, but hey, it's a 48h gamejam !
Edit : I'm now reading about your process from your comments here. I don't think the game would have needed much more gameplay to be much more "fun" (Don't know if it's the correct term for the idea I'm trying to convey here). I think adding a lot of visual/audio feedback for everything would have turned it from a "it's a game" to "ahah vampire go slurrrrrrp", by adding blood particles flying everywhere when you suck on some passerby, or a "slurp" sound effect when sucking on those necks. Also, your visual style really could have shined with just a little bit of 3d to simulate cardboard for every character. Since everything look like cut pieces of paper already. I know this style may look overused nowadays, but hey ! it's compatible with your style ;) And as a last feedback, the cherry on top could have been a little bit of jiggle/animation to the character moving and to the characters being sucked.
I had trouble understanding how the physics is supposed to work. I would have expected the plane to eventually go up again when going fast, but I ended up planting a lot of plane in the ground
But the theme and music are really soothing ! Totally had a good time ! :)
Dat Starcraft feeling was great :D
The only thing missing that may have been added during the compo was some kind of UI / text to explain what the different buildings were doing, would have made a huuuuge difference ! (EDIT ! I'm dumb, it's literally on the itch.io page...) I had to experiment a lot to get the hang of it. But overall, PRETTY FUN !
