I guess it's decent for people that enjoy maze-like elements. Music and sound would have added a lot.

Pew pew pew pew pink lazer ! Despite being "ugly" for lack of time, it was surprisingly funny and easy to handle. Made me think of a simple diablo 3 with just the sorcerer and the red lazerbeamthingy spell

Congratulations on finishing your first game jam game - that's fantastic. I think a huge part of making games is just getting in the time and practice. I agree the idea is a promising one. Not being able to see provides a lot of tension and you have to be selective when you decide to left click to try and keep your life high. To add to the tension, music and sound would probably help the most. Looking forward to your next game jam!

Definitely an interesting idea to use your shots for lighting and as your health. It was a little hard to nagivate the maze without any light, so I wound up mostly just spamming shots to explore and just not caring if I died. Awesome job finishing your first game jam!

Good job for putting out a game, but it just isn't very fun. The ring of light around you is so small that don't have time to react to your enemies as they're approaching you, and once you notice them, it is already too late. The art was also really bad, not like, bad to where you can forgive the programmer for being rushed, but like, so bad that it is hard to look at (sorry for being harsh; it's true though).

Things I would suggest:

(1)-Increase the passive light radius. (2)-Clean up the maze walls, I would often get stuck on corners or jagged edges. (3)-Add enemy type variety. (4)-Make the lazer better looking. Maybe add some particle effects, some sound effects, or some transparency. (5)-Make sure your sprites look at least passable. If you have an edge, make it straight, if you have a rectangle, make sure it has right angles. Also maybe improve your color scheme, since the bright purple, pink, blue, and red really don't go well together.'

The programming meme at the end was incredible though and I laughed a ton. Good job at completing your first game and entering regardless!

Grats on your first game jam! I agree that it was rushed, but you said yourself you had less time since you weren't available the first day.

There were some bugs, my first play through there was no light at all, I literally had to shoot to see anything, and the enemies were not moving.

The second play through was a lot better. I had the light radius and the enemies were actually chasing me. Until I died. Then I got to keep the light radius, but the enemies were all just standing there.

Nonetheless, considering you had about half the time we did, I find you did a good job implementing everything according to your idea!

I thought it was good for a first game jam and not being home the first day, and I loved "A well thought-out and fitting variable name".
