LD35 — Shapeshift

King of Flubles by lightspeedlucas 2016-04-19T09:09:00

Awesome concept and would have played tonsssss of it but...
..movement is wayy too slow which makes it VERY frustrating as a whole.

Best entry on concept alone though, would play this a lot if movements were much faster (or at least configurable or something).

Big kudos

Capital Offense by GAFBlizzard 2016-04-19T15:39:00

Very cool and intercepting take on the theme but hard to properly appreciate past the early stages as controls have different kind of responses to input (especially #2 and #4).

Otherwise, very clever idea on the keybinding at the start, simple and yet very effective!

All in all, very nice entry, kudos.

Glyph Morpheus by Ted Brown 2016-04-19T08:51:00

Very nice entry, good fun, fits the theme, works exactly as intended and is challenging without being frustrating.

Two weird things though:
1) Hack Time? Not sure how that worked, didn't seem to do much, at least not consistently.
2) At some point, the next "shapes" appeared in the upper right corner of the hud, along with the number to press. That made things very easy even at ultra speed and took my eyes away from the main part of the game. Not sure why.

Otherwise, one of the most fun entries so far in my list. Kudos :)

The Great Transmuter by Yarg 2016-04-18T10:20:00

Damn...

I want to like the game (and did for the first levels) but shape collision causing destruction got the better on me frustration wise, just couldn't figure it out on level 4 I think (blue circles are exactly timed up with triangles with no way to alter the tempo).

Not sure if I screw up or something's amiss but otherwise, good stuff.

1-in-4 frogs are princes by cptalbertwesker 2016-04-18T07:13:00

Cute idea though I don't think there are enough princes out there under rocks and trees! I didn't find any after clearing up the garden for 5 minutes, which made it a bit tricky to evaluate the theme beyond just the name :)

++

Shapeshifter Biker by Reuno 2016-04-19T13:08:00

Interesting and odd take on the theme but quite enjoyed the bike mechanic though the controls are a bit annoying at times, especially when half a feet near a pickup and you can only go around it.
Graphics are nicely done too but please next time put some mute key for the music. Nothing personal but since it's voiced, it gets VERY repetitive...
Another note, the text for the pickups goes by really fast, can't even read them past the title.

Nice entry otherwise for the jam, kudos.

Snakoban - 倉庫蛇 by Fonserbc 2016-04-18T07:17:00

Well, tried but the strict 64x64 view made it hard. Not sure what's the goal either, I mean past the snake part.

++

Virgin Blood by bogdan.tana 2016-04-19T10:04:00

Interesting puzzle game with the theme squeezed in as a twist. Had a couple weird issue where feeding caused me to be detected but otherwise, nice one.

The Long Night by Husky 2016-04-18T10:30:00

Interesting detective mechanics and nice little vignettes in between with a relaxing music over it all.
Difficuly varied greatly from item to item but was left strangely engaged and intrigued enough to at least try and solve each, so kudos on that :)

One criticism:
It was a bit too "slippery" at times with the mouse and it went out of one slider bounds onto the other one (ie from X to Y etc).
Maybe a "constraint" to one specific slider as long as mouse button is kept down to prevent this could help.

As a note:
Putting the body in the "purse" at some point was a bit creepy :)

OmniDrone by OriginalBigDan 2016-04-18T07:27:00

Bit too much HP on the main base and gets a bit repetitive once the enemies factories are down (lack of metal generation too for more troops for faster base kill) but it works, got everything and is finished :)

I'd add something to mute the music and/or sounds.
Make enemy base create enemies (not just factories) so that you can still get a good stream of metal.

Other than that, kudos :)

++

ShapeDriller Company by psychomonster 2016-04-19T11:06:00

Very nice concept and application. Kudos, good fun and got everything it needs for a compo job.

It's bloody hard at times though, geeesh :)

Card De-Wolf by AxeTheory 2016-04-19T15:48:00

Interesting take on the theme though not it feels like an afterthought more than anything.

Otherwise, simple yet effective card game. Played a couple times and couldn't get better than 3 score sadly, it's pretty rough.

Angry Squid by Pent 2016-04-19T12:39:00

I don't even...

Reptilian President by deathray 2016-04-18T08:00:00

Took me a while to get the hang of it but was good fun.
Works as intented as far as I played it. Won after wiping out a lot of poor non green shirt people for them skin power.
Not much to say, it just works, kinda fun and cute.

Kudos? :)
++

Tetrift by bradleypollard 2016-04-19T11:12:00

Can't go wrong with Tetris based concept and nice twist with the theme squeezed in there.

Shapeshifters by Joozey 2016-04-21T06:00:00

Interesting mechanics that could probably be expanded for more puzzle/levels.

Also had issue with "climbing/jumping" but I'm really not a good customer for platform games so could be me.

In any case, good one.

Beyond Human by Martin Enderleit 2016-04-18T10:36:00

Cool stuff, nice one.
Last level gave a good idea as to how "shapes" could all come together and was sad when it was the last level available. Talk about a tease! :)

Controls are too "loose" for me, which could be intended but really frustrates me usually when controls don't feel tight, especially on platformers.

In any case, it works, it does what it's meant to and it's not only fun in itself but shows that the idea could be expended further.

Nice one!

Heroic Sex Bazooka by tsjost 2016-04-18T08:03:00

Hmm, sadly I couldn't connect to either the embeded or Web builds.
Sure that the URL is https://gamedev.ninja/ld35/?

Heroic Sex Bazooka by tsjost 2016-04-18T12:08:00

@tsjost: Nice, glad you got it back up and glad I double checked.

Agree with other comments about movement (pushing things around by mistake more than I felt comfy with) and burger (time) but somehow I think both are linked together.

If burgers were on move based, then I'd have time to properly care about movement, and not push things around by mistake.

As it is now, frustration over these kinda bulldozed the fun from the puzzles.

LoneStranger's ShapeShifter by LoneStranger 2016-04-18T08:17:00

Very rough but good concept. Worked from start to finish without problem though I cheated after some time :)

Just one thing:
- Controls seem weird at times. Jump's too loose and if you have some keys pressed (ie: left/right) other key pressed (down to power up) don't register. Likewise, using down arrow to power up then moving and letting down arrow go, keeps power running....bit weird

Other than that, nice one.
++

Shape in the wall by 2kah 2016-04-19T11:45:00

Very nice application of the theme, really like the concept and how it ramps up. At first I was like "too easy..." then died at 39 points...and kept dying around there afterwards :)

Simple, effective.

One minor grip:
It was more "effective" for me to look at the shapes at the bottom of the screen (interface ones) and simply react to my own shape changing at the corner of my field of view, than to keep my eyes on the shape itself.
Not sure if it's the same for everyone but heh, had to comment on something else than just "fun!"

Anyway, kudos :)

The Ship-Shape Shift by greysphere 2016-04-19T12:04:00

What, I don't even....

Boring Human Existence by chunkybrewster 2016-04-19T11:28:00

Sadly not enough to really get into it but the basics here.

Controls are a bit too lose especially in human form. Tighter response/stop and more precise jumping would be an improvement.

The Tale of Lapkovius by ziege 2016-04-18T09:17:00

Very, very cool!
Couldn't get past the Jarka Halls (level 3) due to time issues for now, but I'll come back to play more later on for sure!

No real comments aside from that. The game does exactly what the concept implies it should, it respect the theme perfectly, controls are tight and there a nice tactical/puzzle layer ontop.

All in all, good stuff. One of my favorite entries so far! kudos!

++

(note: THANK YOU for adding mute keys for sound/music. Simple thing but much appreciated!)

Bortman by Rscar 2016-04-19T12:45:00

Simple take on the concept but damn, challenging and fun!
Very nice done in the time for the compo.

ShapeGrifter by CrazyMLC 2016-04-19T09:41:00

I don't even... :)

Radial Storm by levsha128 2016-04-18T09:19:00

Sadly I think it's bugged out :/
Every time I tried to start it, it was instant game over with the ball out of bounds I think. Sorry can't be more descriptive, it's just "game over" non stop.

++

Radial Storm by levsha128 2016-04-18T11:45:00

Alright,

I grabbed the source directly and gave this another go to at least give it a fair chance.

Needs polish, that's for sure, but the concept of multi dimensional popcorn/arkanoid game is pretty good. I'm not sure how it's related to shape shifting (though you could imagine that shapes are shifting around or something) but it's a shame it's in such a raw state because I'd have loved to play this more, if it was more stable.

Good try, just sad you didn't have time needed to see this through proper.

Crazy Race by holgk 2016-04-19T09:59:00

Controls are floaty for a racing game and not sure what the "shape shifting" mechanic bring to the table.

Wizard Quest by mikedirl 2016-04-18T07:41:00

Rough in more ways than one :)
- Controls felt too loose, especially jumping.
- Traps seemed "out of rythm", which made crossing more luck than skill (could be wrong).
- Major bug out mid way through, with death spawning me where I died, character wrapping/falling through floor and whatnot. Leap of faith at the end completely broke character through everything and ended up in death loop.

So yea, rough :)
++

CubeShift by JangoBrick 2016-04-19T15:56:00

score 469.
I got to say, once I "got" it about going through the blocks even as they move into you, it opened up and really enjoyed it.

Very very interesting concept though not sure how it fits with the theme. I could see people playing this on mobile if done right and with lots of levels.

Very nice, kudos :)

QWER by orukinawa 2016-04-18T09:35:00

Hmmm...
I liked the concept and enjoyed the first couple points but sadly, it seems quite bugged out as shapes clearly that should be working, don't sometimes (especially past points 7 or 8) and it's game over, which is frustrating.

Not sure if it's working via collision detection or something but for now, I'll consider it unrunnable and come back to it later on to see if it's working better.

Again, good concept and seems fun!
++

QWER by orukinawa 2016-04-18T11:56:00

@orukinawa:
Holy geebus! Mind blown! It's crazy how the brain was conditioned to SEE the color and not the shape.

It's working 100% perfectly and at first, past 6-7, was a very strong inner struggle to NOT decide based on color but on shape only.
Past 15 though, it's just skill and I don't have that either so kept dying on 17 or 18.

VERY good fun! very addicting.
Thanks for clarifying and glad I came back to check :)

Battle of Britain 2 by SuperChihuahua 2016-04-19T09:54:00

Interesting concept but not sure how it fits the theme plus you need to be quite zoomed to do anything, which takes away from just seeing the planes go around and do their thing.

Feels more like a testing run for the mouse drawning/pathing system than something made for this ludum though.

Jewel Thief by Basim 2016-04-19T12:21:00

Hmm.
Game doesn't start past the screen instructions :/

Shapeless Escape! by A333 2016-04-19T11:57:00

Interesting concept and could have been fun but the controls sadly killed it for me. Jumping's too lose, moving too slippery and platforms sides got too much friction on them.

Could all be intended for "difficulty" purposes but just didn't do the trick for me.

Sad, the graphic are cute and everything else was there.

Name 10 Things That Aren't... by Keith Stellyes 2016-04-19T16:10:00

Hmmm..ok...
I get the learning experience, short time, size limitation and admit I never tried video in Unity but what could have been an interesting take on a dead genre in video games just seemed a drunk mistake :)

A for concept, not so A on execution. Ah well.

motion: a by sepharoth213 2016-04-20T06:18:00

Awesome take on the theme. Fascinating to play around with!

My only grip was that some of the beats were cringy sound wise but otherwise it was a great experience.

One of the most original, on theme and fascinating entry so far! Kudos :)

Shapeshift Puzzle by fabys 2016-04-18T10:55:00

Didn't manage to finish all maps yet but good challenge so far with simple and yet very effective game mechanics and clean/efficient presentation.

Nice one, will come back to it later on.

Dungeophobia by Maxr00 2016-04-21T05:35:00

Interesting concept and quite like that you included the description of all the phobis on mouse-over, nice touch.

Can see folks liking themselves some whack'a'mole games spending some time on this. Nice one.

Future-Anthropology Facility by JohnGalt 2016-04-20T06:37:00

Hilarious and horrible at the time :)

Unlocked all the basics and went up to Conference before stopping but I had a good time doing it. Kudos!

Pasowix's Magical Shapeshifting Workshop by glaze_96 2016-04-18T08:58:00

Nice little game, fits well with the theme and plays smooth from beginning to end.
Not much too say really, it does what it's supposed to for the concept of it. Just kudos I guess :)

++

Polymorphic Menagerie by Soron 2016-04-21T05:50:00

Very, very cool concept. Found myself playing this far longer than I expected but just couldn't stop somehow.

Nice one! :)

Endless Runner by isaque.picao.sanches 2016-04-18T09:45:00

Geeeeebus.
Took a bit for my brain to get wtf was going on and not putting any instructions and figuring it out was very interesting in itself btw, nice one.

Afterwards, it was enjoyable and did what it was meant to perfectly.
Sadly, my brain just melted on level 4 (I need more sleep), so I cannot comment on end condition yet but it's one of the few entries where I'll come back to it to play again.

Very nice entry, very special. Kudos!
++

L.I.G.H.T. by Flygamer101 2016-04-19T08:12:00

Very cool take on the theme and execution. Used the new Windows version and worked no problem.

It was rough at first to get all the mechanics and how they worked together but once that was done, it become a bit too easy though I haven't yet finished it.

Minor grip: no way to turn music off (and keep the sound effect). Got annoying quickly.

Otherwise, very nice entry!

Transmopig by CodeCast 2016-04-19T10:09:00

Shame time got the better of you as you feel it's missing a couple things. Controls work as intended and use of various shapes is interesting and could be turned into a full puzzle game I guess.

Good take on it but feels too raw.

Hide and Squeak by MrDave 2016-04-18T11:00:00

Still laughing at how crazy it gets when you have many enemies on screen.
Simple but works and good fun. Audio is the kind tongue in cheek programmer audio I like. Game works as intended though field of view for enemies is a bit weird (through walls?) and it feels like it could be tweaked in some way.

Good one, kudos :)

Potholing by pss 2016-04-19T11:02:00

Simple but good concept and quite like the feel for it but damn it's rough.
Think a little more "upward ooomph" (for lack of better word) when shifting into the big ball would help.

Can't Drive This - #cantdrivethis by pixel_maniacs 2016-04-19T12:36:00

Tried alone as well, REALLY rough.

Not sure how it fits on the theme overall but damn, that's 48h? lotta work in there it seems.

As a note, I'd allow road selection via mouse on the mousewheel in both direction. With that, it could be simpler to select road and therefore make it possible for single player :)

Shifters by Reis Mahnic 2016-04-18T07:35:00

More story than adventure, more telling than game but short, to the point, very nice presentation and branching choices & consequences.
Dialogs were between clever, funny and weird at times but other than that, I'm saving this one to try out more options later, which I guess is a good thing :)

Nice one.

Territoris by bvisness 2016-04-19T07:17:00

Interesting take on the theme mixed with some kind of Sliding Puzzle thing.
Took me a while to understand that tiles with markers on their corner were "locked" but otherwise, plays as it should and is quite challenging.

Can probably keep a lot of people who enjoy these puzzle games on mobiles nice and busy for during their subway trips if that's where you want to go with it :)

Kudos.

Shapescape by AlexLamarche 2016-04-19T12:02:00

Interesting concept for the theme. Simple and, as with a lot of these types of games, quite addictive.

I liked the "tricks" of 3D shapes in there once in a while, that was well done for added challenge.

Simple, does the job, seems finished for the time it had and fun (though more addictive really). Kudos.

FLESH TO STONE by tjmolinski 2016-04-19T12:20:00

Holy crap, rough but fun!
Controls are very responsive, though character hitbox felt a bit...loose somehow (as in I got hit without thinking I would be at times).

Simple take on the theme but nicely done, kudos.

Shapeshifter by mikekreein 2016-04-18T08:27:00

Nice concept and good fun, nice one.
Only issue was the fact that you can "shift" entire lines/rows even if shapes should block them since all shapes "pack up" on the corners.
Makes the game very trivial (and repetitive without much thought) since you can just pack everything up on the sides and clean as you go. Think preventing shifting of lines/rows if a shape on that line/row is touching the side of the screen would add a lot of brainstorming needed.

Other than that, very cool and clean :)

++

Formorph by Solocov 2016-04-19T11:37:00

Interesting and challenging. Took a bit for the mechanics of "corpse stay" to come into play but was ok.

Controls are a bit too lose (jumping especially) but that could be intended.

Aside from that, I stopped after apparently looping back to the start (after some fall full of yellow checkpoints?). I saw other paths but didn't want to go through the lava/jump block upward corridor again :)

Otherwise, nice entry.

Infinite Vertices by CoderCameron 2016-04-18T10:10:00

Nice concept and game does what it's supposed to from start to finish.
Strangely enough, these simple graphics and narrative put on a very nicely melancholic mood to it and that's what I like the most about it (weird).

Nice entry, thanks.

Breaking Fat by SantiHisteria 2016-04-19T08:59:00

Sadly controls prevented much enjoyement. Concept seemed interesting but spamming spacebar like a crazy person didn't :/

MISCEO by crisp 2016-04-18T10:43:00

Neat, does what it's supposed to and got choice & consequences :)

Controls felt a bit rough but maybe it's intended.
Think the various shapes concept isn't pushed enough overall though.

In any case, good one. Thanks.

Super Shapeshift Bros by mitya1234 2016-04-19T07:08:00

Okkkk...

It seems local multiplayer only so had to play with both hands on the keyboard as separate entities (or something).

I "think" the concept's interesting but it didn't seem to work proper.
Square shape's almost immovable. Triangle shape flies off very easily and sometime just completely skids away if it hits something.

Graphics are cute though.

As a note, no source download?

Moustaches vs Dumfaces by marod 2016-04-19T08:25:00

Vishnu Launch by PeachTreeOath 2016-04-19T08:17:00

Good fun.
Not much else to say: it does what's written on the box and is just fun.

Nice entry, kudos :)

Jonathan Blow Presents: BLAMMO! It's Time To Finish What Lee Harvey Oswald Started by Acorn 2016-04-19T07:55:00

Simple and good 60 seconds fun. Got swarmed by "real" kennedys pretty fast though, which is a bit weird I guess...or something.

Dr. Deckenstein: An Adventure in Severed Parts by quill18 2016-04-19T09:26:00

Interesting take on the theme though I think it could have been pushed through even more. As it is, I didn't really feel the "shape shifting" aspect of it.

Clean design and presentation, impressive for such a limited time and the game plays as it's intended.

Biggest issue though: I just didn't find it fun. That's very personal but it lacks something for me. If I figure out exactly what, I'll post again..

Otherwise, nicely done.

The Kuraikoa by strong99 2016-04-19T06:53:00

Lack of controls and polish hinders what could have been kinda fun sadly.

- I'd put the Shifts on hotkeys (ie: 1,2,3) so you can react faster.
- Stamina doesn't seem to max out inbetween fights but instead just regens like in combat, slows the pace overall without adding interesting mechanics because of it.
- Game quickly degenerates between waiting for stamina, then shift once to attack, shift back after to defend, then waiting for stamina.
- Noticed "upgrades" on 2nd play through, not sure what they all do.

Good concept though.

Grokh's Arena by Cerno_b 2016-04-18T09:29:00

Damn, gets really rough after round 5 or 6 and couldn't finish it yet.

Good fun though, nice one.
Apart from the Golem on Knights, not sure if there's a real rock/paper/scissor balance formula for enemies but these frikkin bats are crazy :)

Controls are tight, games does what it's supposed to and fits theme. Kudos!

++

Flattened by Madball 2016-04-19T16:00:00

Shifting perspectives, not so much shape shifting...interesting take on it.

There we some "paradox", especially the wooden plans but it still worked nicely :)

Good one, kudos.

Oops! My Dear is a Deer by Remdiky 2016-04-19T07:25:00

Groovy take on the theme and giggled first couple seconds but that's pretty much it.
Not sure what determines finding the girl (sometimes she was last shift, sometimes never here, no apparent reason or logic).

Some more "purpose" would do a lot of good, beyond the initial "neat" feeling due to sound and graphics.

Nice one otherwise.

Agent Shift by jollyserpent 2016-04-18T09:53:00

Very cool game, love the presentation and concept!

Played exactly like it should and was interesting all in all. One negative is that I got the same clue (religious under 75%) twice during a run, which seemed a bit wasted, but could be working as intended and didn't alter my fun in any way.

Cool graphics, slick presentation, groovy concept and execution. All in all, one of the best entries I've check so far.

Nice one!

Loading... by unoion 2016-04-20T06:11:00

Damn hard. Simple concept but works as intended. Not sure how it's linked to the theme but it's interesting nonetheless.

I think it would have gained by being pixel perfect in movement, bit like very old school games were so that there couldn't be any confusion in knowing if you're gonna get hit or not.

Good one otherwise, simple but effective :)

I'm one of you guys now by codeartisticninja 2016-04-19T08:40:00

Nice take on the theme and concept could be pushed into a full fledged thing probably.

Couldn't get past level 4 (purple door but no purple guy/body) but could have missed something.

Please in the future devs think about adding a simple mute music hotkey or something. :)

Black Heart by luquio 2016-04-18T09:07:00

Prettttty crazy stuff.
Good fun, nice music and plays nice all in all. I think controls felt good for what the game tries to do but think would be better to have shapes on individual keys, not on a cycling pattern through the same key (though that adds a LOT of difficulty, which might be intended).

One remark:
- Black hearts are way too hard to see which leads to frustration (instead of just difficulty). Maybe change the color of the other particles around to avoid confusion or something.

Otherwise, nice game. Kudos!

Reptilian Elimination Squad by btwj_ 2016-04-19T09:16:00

"The world owes me much indeed!"

Cool take on the concept, efficient mechanics and cute graphics. Nothing really else to say: it does what it's supposed to and does it well.

Nice entry, kudos.

Shape Invaders by famer 2016-04-19T11:51:00

Nice take on the classic space invader, fits well on theme and keeps the fun of it.

Minor grip (probably bug):
The base and fast shapes allow you to keep spacebar down while moving and in shape.
The big/slow shape prevented you to go left while doing the same (but right was ok for some reason).

Otherwise, kudos :)

Loathsome Shifter by bigmangames 2016-04-19T08:54:00

I don't even....

Shape Shift by staircase27 2016-04-19T12:31:00

Damn...One of the most obscure, complicated and fun puzzle game I've tried in this jam. Congratulation on the concept, pretty awesome, got my brain going.

I'd make the "grid" more visible, took me a while to figure out I could throw in bullets from sides and whatnot. Putting some graphics for rows and columns would help a lot.
Also, the "hint" on the right should be clearer at all times.

Otherwise, very nice!

Block Shift by Templar3lf 2016-04-19T15:32:00

Interesting concept though not sure how it's related to the theme. Quite challenging once past the 100ish points too.

One issue: Buttons on the left of the screen uselessly hide a lot of the good position to use and prevent clicking on the the blocks proper.

Otherwise, good, simple and does the job entry.

EXTREME DUNGEON MEGA SHIFT RPG PINBALL DELUXE by Somelife 2016-04-17T22:06:00

Yea, really weird, trying to get it sorted :)

EXTREME DUNGEON MEGA SHIFT RPG PINBALL DELUXE by Somelife 2016-04-17T22:20:00

Alright, sorted.
Gonna include an x86 build as well, just in case.

EXTREME DUNGEON MEGA SHIFT RPG PINBALL DELUXE by Somelife 2016-04-18T09:57:00

Thanks for the feedback :)

Graphics are supposed to be a throwback to old school "blue dungeon" maps from tabletop RPGs (google search on "old school dungeon map" should give you an idea).
I think the style I wanted is there (for my sucky graphical skills) but wish I could have gone better for ball, flippers and monsters.

Ah well, coulda, woulda, shoulda!

EXTREME DUNGEON MEGA SHIFT RPG PINBALL DELUXE by Somelife 2016-04-18T11:47:00

Thanks.

Pinball board "shape-shifting" when you change levels is it.

That's the idea anyway but the animation/feel for it (wals moving around and whatnot) is raw and the purpose is a bit lost sadly.

EXTREME DUNGEON MEGA SHIFT RPG PINBALL DELUXE by Somelife 2016-04-20T06:05:00

@bogdan.tana: Totally is, not a bad thing per se!
I had a better "shapeshifting" transition in mind, with some kind of transformer sound effect on top, but sadly it got put on the backseat during my fight against Unity physics2D :)

@psychomonster: I have huge respect now for pinball level designers and I now also understand why all pinball tables are vertical, not horizontal!
Good thing is that as is, new levels are fairly easy to add and link together since the hard work is done dynamically depending on how many levels there are on start. Bad thing is that I still suck at pinball level design, and it's still horizontal! :)

@bigmangames: Thanks, I think it saves the submission for a lot of people since otherwise the level design's a bit raw and the theme's light. Sound effects were always a big part of how crazy pinball can get for me so I'm glad that translates properly.

#GAFBlizzard
I just didn't know beforehand man, never tried physics in unity before! Most of my time was lost learning about it then fighting against it :)

Space Dock by HoldMeImScared 2016-04-19T08:01:00

As you mentioned, light take on the theme but good fun otherwise and it does what it intends to do. Nice one.

Controls felt a bit odd at first for a ship in space but you get used to it.

It's finished, it does the job and has everything required. Good one, kudos.

Boomerang Pong by FanieG 2016-04-19T12:09:00

Think I left half my brain on that field...

Took a while to get that it's the boomerang doing all the shifting and to be honest, goals were more lucky based than anything else, but ok, it does what it should do I guess!

Interesting take on it, no idea where all that came from but kudos :)

The duck Reborn by TheDuckCompany 2016-04-18T07:47:00

"Concept" sounded fun but controls made it impossible/frustrating to play.
- Jumping's way loose and weird and "collision" with obstacles felt odd.
- QTE events slow everything, are very hard to comprehend and so fast you lack context to make a choice. Plus they seem to "slow down" things, which, when it happens when jumping, slows that too and kills you.

Like the idea, couldn't play it proper :/

The duck Reborn by TheDuckCompany 2016-04-18T12:00:00

Tried again with new build.
Managed to go past 1 obstacle, up to around 200 score I think, then same thing happened: QTE slowed time above fire while jumping, which slowed the jump and caused death :)

I'll check again later this week, in case.

Chromeshift by diesel 2016-04-19T12:14:00

Simple concept, not sure how it's liked to shape shifting, but it's fun, addictive and can be challenging.
Didn't even dare try using Spacebar as the shape barely had time to rotate in time by default.

As a note, I'd scale down a bit the overall resolution to make default simple blobs easier, allowing for harder versions of them in between.

Otherwise, does what it says it does and does it well enough. Kudos.

ShapeThief by Monkey Foundry 2016-04-19T08:34:00

Really dig the shapeshifter "hitman" vibe intended here but GEEEEBUSSSS the controls! The character "drives" like a car or something, really annoying :/

Shame really, good concept.

Block Dropper by blockdroppers 2016-04-19T07:00:00

Nice concept but damn managing shapes AND placement is rough.

One thing that threw me off completely though was trying to
match the "beat" was not in tune with me having to move the shape...bit hard to explain.

In "beat" games usually your inputs are in tune with the rhythm but here, you have to move and change shapes outside of any real rhythm and that's a really weird (and not good, at least for me) feeling.

Very, very cool. Simple, addictive, good rhythm.
Nice one.

We Need A Hero by tomdeal 2016-12-13T11:37:00

Probably a sucker for super hero games but had lot of fun.

If you're pushing this beyond just LD37, I would think about breaking the routine that sets up fairly quickly, add some complexity (ie: actual street path finding, differentiate between flying/on foot heroes, some "too much destruction" press events or the like) and a bit more mini game around managing/moving around the heroes.

Good fun though.

Color Factory by erdiizgi 2016-12-13T11:11:00

Interesting take on Match 3, which is nice, though it being a match 3 revamp, it's hard to rate (as it has the same issues and qualities as usual match 3s).

As a note, I think some way to rotate the given blocks would be very interesting and cut down on the almost pure luck based square/color distribution which is more annoying than anything.

Also, probably because it supports some kind of touch screen input system as well, mouse was a bit off center.

Good prototype though, as addictive as usual match 3s

Can't edit so adding as I noticed and it's always irritating...

No sources...

nm previous comment about source, just noticed it's actually in the Jam category, not compo.

My bad.
