I love the art-style! I found the upgrade menu a bit confusing but was able to unlock the super laser which was fun. The boss got stuck against a stack of minions who were trapped on a platform so I found the end a bit easy.

I love the idea behind your game it is funny and cute :D really enjoyed playing your game. It would be nice if you could have sound varieties, maybe different pitches, when it comes to shooting. Overall really enjoyed it thank you :D Hope to see more updates :)

mrcrazysci 2020-04-21 14:40

It was a fun game just one thing. The first two guns did not feel a lot different before you upgrade them. Aside from there sounds. One more thing to add would be some music would be good. Over all fun game and good job!

jazambuja 2020-04-21 15:05

Fun game! Love the art, it would be nice to add some animations!

wans24 2020-04-21 21:41

Cute artstyle, upgrade system is good as it adds new fire modes rather than just bigger numbers of splash or damage. Visual effects feel good. Sounds get a little annoying after some time. Would be nice to improve impact when shooting enemies, add animations, make controlls more familiar like shop to Tab button.

nightvision65 2020-04-22 05:29

Don't know if I beat the game as no enemy is coming out but there's no ending screen. And laser is a bit OP. Anyway, nice game with good art style and is fun to play.

e-server 2020-04-22 13:45

The game is fun to play for a while, but when the king died some of enemies froze, others didn't.

whomakeworse 2020-04-22 13:49

Great game, but the monsters still arrive when I was upgrading my weapons

doritolord 2020-04-24 11:13

the art was unique. sound effects were on point, liked the fact that the laser hit multiple enemies. i have some problems with the guide window: you should unbind esc because it is also for exiting fullscreen. also maybe the upgrade window could freeze the enemies, or you could integrate the upgrades somehow so that it doesn't obstruct the vision?

devvex 2020-04-24 18:47

Fun game, enjoyed the art and what you were able to get done. I didn't really see a reason in changing weapons other than freezing then continuing to shoot. Maybe ammo or cooldown mechanism would force you to change between weapons?

cavedens 2020-04-24 23:47

I see a lot of potential for this game. Could definitely use some bug fixing and polish, however, I did like the art style you were going for. Good job

historymaker118 2020-04-26 10:23

This game really needed some more time to balance the difficulty. There is simply not enough time between waves of enemies to open the upgrade store and upgrade enough to take on the hoards of enemies that swarm the screen, and even fully upgraded it still takes seven or eight bullets per enemy to kill them, with no knockback and thirty enemies on screen at once, I can't survive more than a minute in game. The sound effects were good, but it really needs some music, and the UI was way too small. Other than that, I liked the art and attempt at humour even if it didn't really land.

convg 2020-04-26 17:48

This game is pretty cool. More polish is needed(there were a few bugs), but overall its pretty nice.

GRAPHICS: UI and background could use a little bit of work. The enemies, player and king look cool, and the weapon particle effects are awesome.

SOUND: The audio is very high quality and fits the weapons well. Some ambient sounds would be nice, as well as common things such as footsteps.

GAMEPLAY: The controls feel very smooth. Having multiple weapons is nice and adds good variety to the game. The upgrade store adds enjoyable progression.

BUGS: There were a few bugs. When I got to a certain point, enemies permanently stopped spawning. The weapons' reload cycle can be subverted by through them quickly. Upgrades eventually cost 0 blood drops.

Conclusion: Solid concept. Implementation needs some work. Nice game and good entry.

hlo-world 2020-05-08 23:58

Wow this game is so polished, that's a fantastic job right there!

taran-unraveler 2020-05-09 12:18

The uploaded game for the ludum dare is pretty good, the improved version seems awesome! well done!

fabula-rasa 2020-05-09 14:20

I played and rated the jam game. But then I played the new and improved version, so I will comment on that one. And that one is great! You fixed many things that I considered bad/strange in the jam version of the game and improved the whole experience greatly!

The music is fun and energized, the animations are great, the whole environment is improved markedly, the unneeded and unused status bars on the king are gone and the whole experience feels very fun and polished! really well done :)

lcstark 2020-05-09 14:20

A nice jam entry! I had fun trying to protect the old man from evil goblins.

I love the artstyle, and the sounds work quite well here. The gameplay could be a little bit more, explained, though. I thought I'd have to go around and explore the level to get the king what he needs, but there wasn't much to explore and I had to run back quickly to protect him from enemies spawning behind me.

I've played it several times and I've noticed several issues: - Every time I earn around 40k points the enemies stop spawning. The game doesn't end, there simply aren't more enemies to shoot. - When I'm in the upgrade menu, I can still control my character, or at the very least I can still shoot. - The weapon upgrades work well for the first 5 or 6 levels, after that the cost goes down to 0. I can upgrade weapons up to level 11, but anything above those first 5-6 don't seem to do anything. - In the weapon upgrade menu I can't see the entire tooltip on the rightmost upgrades - they go behind the edge of the screen.

I like very much that not only you had several different weapons, but also your upgrades changed how they work instead of just adding damage or speed. Though at later levels I couldn't decide between jblab and asdfas upgrades, at least I got the "I AM AWESOME" upgrade. ;)

All in all it's a solid jam entry. I've enjoyed playing it, I'll gladly check the updated post-LD version. ;)

ithildin 2020-05-09 14:40

Cool entry! I've only tried the submission version so far, and while there are some unfinished mechanics, as you mentioned, it is already fun to play. It became challenging quite fast, and I especially liked having to change weapons according to the mob types (I fell in love with the ice gun :two_hearts: )

Other than the finish condition, at some point a bunch of enemies got stuck in between the platforms and stopped moving (this was fortunate, because at that point I was dealing with a MASSIVE wave of enemies). Shortly after that, I had managed to reach around 45K points and stopped getting enemies. I decided that I had won at that moment and quit.

I liked the art style, it reminded me of BattleBlock Theater :D

I'll make sure to check the post-jam entry, I'm curious to see how much it's improved.

¡Enhorabuena!

Concept ------- I can't call it very unusual but I can't say it's very common. I, personally, like these kind of games. Your concept is quite good, the only thing is that I'd like to see some kind of a narrative, a background story, u know, why there are enemies and why there is only one defender etc etc.

Gameplay -------- For a moment it felt really tough to defend the king, good job. I would call it IMPOSSIBLE to defend him if that orc boss would move but he stuck. I like the idea of upgrading your weapons, it's always a winning turn when you add these options to the game but there is no need to upgrade anything besides the laser, you can fix it by adding variety to the prices like make the prices going from lower to higher depending on a weapon damage. Also there were some sorta bugs when you upgrade your weapon and after one point its price going at 0 and you can upgrade it to the maximum w/o spending your money on it. And adding music would definitely improve the quality of the game experience. Mood ---- I liked that picture of a king on a wall, funny stuff, I also like characters' seen facial expressions, lol, they clearly don't give a damn about that orc invasion. I wouldn't give a damn as well if I'd have a laser and a bazooka vs axes, lmao.

Overall ------- Quite a good prototype, there are a lot of things to polish but I see nothing critical. Keep up! :thumbsup_tone2:

UPD --- Didn't notice the polished version at first. Man, that great one. Really fun to play, fun to watch, I like how they jump all the time around. You did a great job, my friend, really! Totally different experience, you fixed it nicely. Sad that you didn't submit it in time but I can't rate your game looking at the prototype only as you asked in your post. I give it a high ratings, good job! :star:

leonardo-fraga 2020-05-09 14:45

I'm so happy with all your comments and ratings and I'm really looking forward to see what you think about the updated version  Thank you everyone!!

nelson-william 2020-05-09 14:56

The graphics in this game are very polished! It felt way more polished than the average jam game. The gameplay was fun too, I found it pretty well balanced. One problem: the dark hole upgrade is really bad, I lost at the last wave because of it... Anyway, I had a lot of fun playing this, congratulations.

trozeman 2020-05-09 16:22

Wow! I'm impressed! Very nice! The wave 20 is ends of the game? 5/5 GL!

leonardo-fraga 2020-05-09 16:55

@nelson-william you should use the black hole to suck them away from the king. I once used close to the king the lost pretty quickly. Try shooting at the ceiling, it quite fun and helpful

@trozeman thank you so much! Actually the final wave is 25 \o/

emperor-eagle 2020-05-09 23:05

Really good game! I enjoyed playing it! Good depth in the upgrades there was a diverse range of enemies! Graphics were nice, but the audio could be improved. The game got really hard at one wave randomly, but the upgrades were balanced enough to get me through part, but unfortunately not all, of it. I liked the knockback of bullets onto enemies from all angles. Good game, and good effort! Nice job!

As for the spectacular updated version; amazing! Really well polished there and the candlelight flickering of the lights worked incredibly well! Great muzzleflash and weapon effects, good blood splats that stayed on surfaces. The weapons feel better, the the visuals (including animation) and audio are revamped really well! I hope you keep going with this sort of thing, because this is a great game! Well done!

iak 2020-05-10 08:49

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

I played both your base version and the Post-Jam one, I quite liked the rough drawn style of the original, but the Post version does have a much more polished feel to everything and seems a lot more complete, so excellent job with that.

gameovermexico 2020-05-10 14:44

I play the two versions, what is the final wave? reymuerto.jpg

leonardo-fraga 2020-05-10 15:28

@gameovermexico 25 is the last wave

adam-clayden 2020-05-10 15:39

Nice game! The image of the king laying naked was pretty funny, and I liked that each weapon had a purpose. Although I felt myself using the laser 90% of the time and the odd freeze ability. Artwork is really nice but could do with some extra visual feedback on hit etc. All in all good job!

leonardo-fraga 2020-05-10 16:11

@adam-clayden thanks for playing, please, try the upgrade version, I think you may like it

eduardogacn 2020-05-10 18:54

I played both versions and was very surprised by the change.

The art of the second game is amazing, the music, sounds and movement just got better.

Glad to see you included the waves.

The only thing that would change me is that the king was in the middle and not in the corner, thus having enemies in both areas.

Anyway very good game, great job!

leonardo-fraga 2020-05-10 19:01

@eduardogacn wow that's very interesting, I actually never thought of that, waves comming from both sides. I'll put more thought in that, maybe it would be great to make that when after x wave, a way to increase difficult. I loved it. Thanks for playing and for the feedback

stolen-biscuit 2020-05-11 12:06

Fun game, was a bit overwhelming at times but ultimately pretty good :)

sokette 2020-05-11 12:32

Hey ! That's like a tower defense, pretty nice :p

Graphics are very nice, sounds are well used. And I really like the fact that you have to use the weapons strategically :)

I guess the updated version improve the game in every way I would have liked it to !

narudgi 2020-05-11 13:23

Woow i love the art style, it has a lot of personality in fact, sound are cute

And there is some strategies happening with the variety of the weapons

Neat and fun game, well done !

gameovermexico 2020-05-11 14:36

I played it again, I would like the bad guys to have more animation and the path to spawn a little shorter to be able to put more flavor to the waves and have the player more prepared for quick reaction, in general I liked the game and the idea of principle of improving weapons its great.

zebraatomica 2020-05-11 15:54

This was a nice old school shooter to play. I really enjoyed and finished your game!

I rated based on the first one but my feedback go to the 2 one.

The game is pretty solid, really nice little game indeed XD Ony thing was that the guns needed some balancing or even more monsters! XD It was quite easy after the triple shot bazooka hahahha

Really nice improvements! Well done!

lairinlair 2020-05-11 20:30

Commenting by watching @SYRAPTOR. I liked the art, very humorous and funny, reminded me of cray. The sound effects were little distracting to me. Good progression on leveling up, tough the commands seems to be a little confuse. Great work!

WOOOW, the upgraded version looked and sounded so much better! Good effect on the LP when the wave over, loved the points coming out too. The blood everywhere, hilarious, haha. The enemys that jump were a great addition too.

conor-galvin 2020-05-11 20:34

Really nice entry :) I felt like it was almost too easy though? I managed to fully upgrade all of my weapons super quickly by just using the 4th weapon which slowed anything and then holding the left mouse button. I also don't know if the boss was meant to do anything because the super huge thing just stayed there and didn't move..

Overall though good work!

joe40001 2020-05-12 05:10

Here is the VOD of me playing your game on stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhXLQHA-5Z4

Very cool game. I'm sure you already know what to improve so I won't bore you with it :)
