LD46 — Keep it alive

Crab It Alive! by Naca 2020-05-09T11:46:25Z

It's really hard to add something over what HuuvaKoodia said. Game theme is nice, I liked it. Overall game brought me a nostalgia when I used to play flash games on my old laptop when I was a kid, thank you. Quite simplistic game, I'd love to see it with an additional gameplay as the guy above said, I have same thoughts on music, the loop is too short but the sound itself matches the game pretty well so good job. Keep on working, it's a good jam submission!

**Amazing**, guys. I woouldn't call it a game, you know, more like an art object or something. Huge fan of your artwork. I usually call something like that trippy but that was... Badtrippy and I really liked it. I didn't quite understand the ending but the rest of the things are awesome. Bald egg guy, creepy asylum animations and that cursed hobo warlock at the beginning - top

Father dies At The End by nahual 2020-05-06T16:54:16Z

*Thank you* **all**, *guys, for these lovely comments!*

@TheOmelet now you only watch it once you start the game and you can skip it pressing any key but every line separately.

@fabula-rasa it has some indicators like if his pulse are at 0 and you use a defibrillator it says "critical, but stable" etc. Harsh decisions though we wanted to keep balance between, you know, impossible to end the game in one attempt and understandable UI overall. Needs more improvement that clearly will be done in future.

@zubspace to use a defibrillator you must click on it to activate, using left-right arrows you charge it and then click on his chest area. There is one thing about it that I don't want to ride to keep the intrigue but in case you'd want to relieve the charge just click it outside of the character's hitbox. ;) I sincerely recommend you to finish the game, it's a complete story and there is a message in it but in any case thank you!

@bitpokit WOW Thank you very much, lovely words, this is really heart warming.

Father dies At The End by nahual 2020-05-12T12:42:41Z

**Thank you guys for your reviews!**

@vernalbehemoth yes, this is good idea to add more feedback, probably will do after we'll add more functionality

@sandra-martinez sometimes you need to use a defibrillator twice in a row in a short period ;)

@adam-clayden sometimes, when his pulse is dropping too fast you should use defibrillator twice

@notredamstra there IS and ending :smiley_cat: and is very important, would love if you get to it, use defibrillator twice if once doesn't have any effect.

@fatpenguin there is a feedback from bag valve mask, when he's not breathing and you force him to you get a notification that he's breathing in. You should charge the defibrillator first by pressing :arrow_left: :arrow_right: after that you hit him in a stomach area and it works but sometimes you need to hit twice but be careful, it's possible to overdo it.

Keep it @alive by velvetlobster 2020-05-06T18:02:58Z

I can feel its vibe. Graphics are cute and simple and the music is chill but without any bright emotions in it and it matches the game. It has the idea in it, it mirrors some problems of the modern society and I like it very much. Simple and not really varative gameplay (you either post pictures or sit on a chair under the rain day after day) makes me feel the frustration perfectly so the mood is on point. I didn't realize I can turn on the phone when I'm at home so I've been siting on a chair under the rain for a week waiting for something to happen, eh... So I kinda felt it

Tunnel Vision by Avi 2020-05-03T02:18:29Z

Very trippy and I love it. Sound effect when you turn the slow-motion on is awesome. Would love to see it with a narrative.

The Tale of the Lumberjack who did not want to cut trees by Thomas_Bringer 2020-05-12T15:21:36Z

Wow, this is so great. I love this game so much. This is incredible how many interesting levels you designed and created. Amazing how you interpreted theme. This game looks such surreal but the message in it is pretty clear. Dialogues are a big part of the atmosphere in this games. I agree with the point that the sound loop is a bit short, would love to hear an extended version of this, but that iteration makes the game experience more surreal, I especially like that moment when the music stops, it has something off and dark about it. I enjoyed playing this game very much.

Hands down, imo, brilliant submission.

Economic Bubble by room606 2020-05-09T11:33:28Z

Finally got to that game. I really enjoyed it. Humor, concept and references are on a point. I like those sketchy graphics, I'd like to see them improved, for sure, but the idea of sketchy style itself is quite good. Additional point for the Edvard Munch's "The scream" face, adorable. :star: Oh yeah, and the music, of course :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Flare by emmyoop 2020-05-06T21:48:44Z

Graphics -------- Fire animation is dope. It's smooth and flame, I can't say too much about the other objects, I'd improve them by adding some visible textures on them. I really like how the shadows are working, it brings a lot of atmosphere in it.

Music ----- Main menu music is good, the only thing I'd fix in it are high frequencies of that pan-flute(?), I would lower their volume a little bit so they sound softer. Main theme sounds really good and calm, tribal-ish, it matches the game mood Gameplay -------- It's tough to understand the mechanics first, it breaks your head and I like it. I rarely see puzzles nowadays and something like that is a fresh air. There is something wrong with the buttons tho, I couldn't press the Restard button and the Start button is misplaced for some reason. And one time when I restarted the game I had some weird stuff going on. Overall it's a quite promising puzzle and co-op makes it even better. It has something to improve for sure but main mechanics are fine and fun playing.

Gizmick! by Zliebowitz 2020-05-06T17:21:12Z

Simple yet pretty good. I like its old school vibe especially your chiptune soundtrack. Cool idea with this pet(?) that you must carry about, it makes the game harder. Imo would be cool to make an animation nor sound effects for the enemies, like the idle one, attacking one and especially when you hit them. But I'm sure you know it without my advice. Keep up, it was fun!

The King's Gun Guy by Leonardo Fraga 2020-05-09T14:45:07Z

Concept ------- I can't call it very unusual but I can't say it's very common. I, personally, like these kind of games. Your concept is quite good, the only thing is that I'd like to see some kind of a narrative, a background story, u know, why there are enemies and why there is only one defender etc etc.

Gameplay -------- For a moment it felt really tough to defend the king, good job. I would call it IMPOSSIBLE to defend him if that orc boss would move but he stuck. I like the idea of upgrading your weapons, it's always a winning turn when you add these options to the game but there is no need to upgrade anything besides the laser, you can fix it by adding variety to the prices like make the prices going from lower to higher depending on a weapon damage. Also there were some sorta bugs when you upgrade your weapon and after one point its price going at 0 and you can upgrade it to the maximum w/o spending your money on it. And adding music would definitely improve the quality of the game experience. Mood ---- I liked that picture of a king on a wall, funny stuff, I also like characters' seen facial expressions, lol, they clearly don't give a damn about that orc invasion. I wouldn't give a damn as well if I'd have a laser and a bazooka vs axes, lmao.

Overall ------- Quite a good prototype, there are a lot of things to polish but I see nothing critical. Keep up! :thumbsup_tone2:

UPD --- Didn't notice the polished version at first. Man, that great one. Really fun to play, fun to watch, I like how they jump all the time around. You did a great job, my friend, really! Totally different experience, you fixed it nicely. Sad that you didn't submit it in time but I can't rate your game looking at the prototype only as you asked in your post. I give it a high ratings, good job! :star:

The last baby ninja by SeabirdDigital 2020-05-06T17:44:18Z

Well, that's quite a game! Low FPS made it impossible to finish the game but I really liked the idea. I like voxel graphics and the music and sounds were on the point. Cute narrative and really nice background view. As I said before low fps made it hard to play but even tho I admitted good physics. Keep it up, it's quite promising!

Baby Simulator by EdZ123 2020-05-13T20:38:10Z

Isn't this a joke that both our and your games have the same message inside yet being that different?

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-05-08T12:40:18Z

Okay, that's quite impressive for a 1-man-made game. I like that noise/grain filter, makes it trippy-ish. Dead memes are adding a surrealistic vibe to it which is good. On a third or fourth level I discovered a bug(?) when I accidentally came through the block and finished a level in 2 turns. On a second Lvl I was quite confused because I couldn't find a way to collect both of the batteries so I decided to move on. Is it possible to collect them both or is it just a trap?) This game has a potential, I like these kind of puzzles, I used to play games like that back then but they were 2d. That isometric view is a cool idea. It lacks a narrative, imho, you could add some story on these pictures with memes, you know, so the further you go, the more parts of the background story you get. It was quite obvious how to get to the green area since you put all the batteries exactly on the pass you should go but overall I liked it. Technically everything works almost perfect, good job!

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-05-08T23:31:17Z

Funny game, pretty good runner. The gameplay isn't too diverse, you know, but, oh well, it's a runner after all. But I'd like to see more weapons and some power ups or pick-up skills like dashing or else. Not a big fan of that pixel art, there are a lot of things to fix like banding and a lineart but you made all that in solo so I do not care too much about these minor mistakes. I liked the music a lot, I like chiptune and your soundtrack is quite a good one. I'd love to see further updates, keep up~!

Runner 2049 by inact1v1ty 2020-05-06T17:08:15Z

I like the vibe of it and the sound sounded nice and tense. I like more detailed pixel art and different size of pixels on some objects are looking a bit off to me but those those shaders are dope, I like that mix, it's winning, reminded me of The Last Night. A bit harsh to understand the mechanics of the battery charger. Be careful with that blur tho, don't put it too much. Overall it's a quite promising runner, keep it up!

Paradigm by nspevacek 2020-05-03T02:27:47Z

I really like the idea of isometric view in this kind of game. Imo the game is speeding up really slow, waited for the first asteroid for a while.
