i love the way the puzzles work and can imagine it to be a really cool multiplayer game. Great job! The graphics could be a bit more intuitive, i think.

I can't click the start button, it keeps focusing on game info. I played the web ver btw

I like the way the player views are set up with one having a top down view and the other having a side view. I like the graphics as well. Overall great game

This is pretty great, but it just messes with my head so much :D The visuals don't always work too well in conveying the depth of the level, but the light emitted by the flame is pretty helpful. It looks relly good overall. The audio is unobtrusive and underlines the games mood quite well. Relly enjoyed figuring out the way it works and playing this game, but I still can't quite wrap my head around it completely ^^. Good job overall!

WebGL didn't work for me on Windows (couldn't click buttons in menu). Windows build worked, but it seemed buggy too a little. The fire and light effects were very cool, but some other GUI parts (like buttons) were very simple compared to them. Still very good grahpics for an LD game! I could pass some levels, but I don't fully understand the mechanics :( maybe partly because it was buggy? It seems to be fun, but I should understand it for that :(

Interesting puzzle mechanic. I especially like how you managed thinking in 3 dimensions by using the light to indicate where you can go.

Things I enjoyed:

- Great moody feel to the game, the lighting and effects were excellent - Music is great and fits well with the theme you two were going for - Love the idea. I could totally see being an awesome game to play with my girlfriend

Things I did not enjoy:

- Biggest thing is I couldn't wrap my head around how to control. The views don't convey depth very well and it's hard to tell that the two screens are the same Level. I only got past the first two levels, and it was more by trail and error than understanding of the concepts. - Menu art could use some tweaks, but this is a small critique. My game doesn't even have a menu or pause button haha.

One tip I'll add is to reference other 3-D puzzle games like captain toad here. Often before the level starts they do a rotation around the level so you get a sense for what you're looking at. I think this could do a lot to help the player gain perspective on the level.

Interesting game and idea, but i didn't understand how to play at all

took a couple of tries to get it right but it is really funny! amazing how you managed to get so many levels done in such a short time

I love the concept behind this game it really makes you think about the 3D space. I would prefer if you didn't have to press space to switch controls to the other person. I believe this would mean the game would require more coordination and teamwork.

almax 2020-04-28 22:32

Cool idea! I didn't really have any problems understanding the controls or the spacial puzzles, but having to press space to switch views seems wholly unnecessary as you've got each view mapped to a different set of buttons. I kept wanting to control both at the same time!!

jcourt 2020-04-29 06:37

Nice work! I really like the mechanic. The levels themselves usually weren't too hard, although it was hard to tell depth sometimes (it might have been easier if I hadn't been playing it alone - I had a hard time mentally switching between the two orientations, so I usually just looked at one screen while using the other keys to move up and down).

By the way, on the menus (both the main menu and the restart menu) on the web version, you have to click a little bit above each of the buttons. (so if you click on start, you actually end up hitting game info).

Fun game! Very interesting and cool concept, was a lot of fun to figure out (took me a while in the first level until I understood, but after I did it was great and the other levels went quite smoothly). Sadly, I couldn't continue at some point where the flare got stuck at the edge of a wall after a perspective switch:

As others have said, it was weird having to press Space to switch to the other controls. You should have either let us control the flare at the same time without switching, or have the controls mapped to the same buttons (then a switch would have made sense).

I also have to agree with the others that depth was difficult at times, however I don't think it was too bad, because the light given off by the flare helped with the perception (clever use of the light!). I imagine this would be extremely fun to play with another player over the internet, such that you can't see the other person's screen and they'd have to guide you at times.

Great entry!

I liked the graphics and music, they created a very nice atmosphere! The lightning was done really well! I had lots of problems seeing what I should do, I couldn't see depth of the level.

captainproton42 2020-05-06 21:38

Really cool idea and awesome atmosphere! Apart from some technical difficulties, I actually liked it. The controls could use some polish though. I don't see the need to press space when both player have different controls anyways.

Graphics -------- Fire animation is dope. It's smooth and flame, I can't say too much about the other objects, I'd improve them by adding some visible textures on them. I really like how the shadows are working, it brings a lot of atmosphere in it.

Music ----- Main menu music is good, the only thing I'd fix in it are high frequencies of that pan-flute(?), I would lower their volume a little bit so they sound softer. Main theme sounds really good and calm, tribal-ish, it matches the game mood Gameplay -------- It's tough to understand the mechanics first, it breaks your head and I like it. I rarely see puzzles nowadays and something like that is a fresh air. There is something wrong with the buttons tho, I couldn't press the Restard button and the Start button is misplaced for some reason. And one time when I restarted the game I had some weird stuff going on. Overall it's a quite promising puzzle and co-op makes it even better. It has something to improve for sure but main mechanics are fine and fun playing.

Certainly agree with comments by other folks, initially it was difficult to figure out what the mechanics were and later got addicted to it. Great work, Red Owl games team! This is a great concept and execution.

ceuteum 2020-05-10 08:09

A nice concept! It felt a bit confusing at first because I didn't know the other player's controls change the first player's elevation level, so I had to play with the mechanics a little bit to figure it out. Also, as others have mentioned, lightning feels a bit confusing, a bit more clarity would be great. Still, it was fun to play for a while. I feel like this idea is good, though, and it can be turned into a nice two-player puzzle. Great job!
