LD46 — Keep it alive

Medic! by mrbandler 2020-04-29T20:22:44Z

It one of the prettier games for me. I didn't liked too much the bodyblock from the other soldiers, I there could have been more tuning on the timings, i never needed more than two beds, but maybe I'm just too slow. I found it funny how this army fought: running out in the open shooting a few bullet forward then running again a little until being shot and waiting to be saved. :) From the medics point of view this is exactly what war is :)

Space Station Express by quadtree 2020-05-05T10:36:02Z

I loved the concept and the art. However the texts in the upper left corner were mostly out of window :( Also I just died once, when it seemed that I just lose my cargo when I got hits, there was no hp bar :(

MagniFire by Ogma 2020-05-06T07:32:56Z

The art is undoubtedly beautiful, music is cute! I liked the "story" as in primary school I tried to save insects from my classmates (although int hat scenario the evil attackers were the girls)! :) But unfortunately it's not a fun game. I never died (excluding the case when checking what happens I go into the fire - indeed it's not healthy). There were many good suggestions already, I don't extend that list.

Keep the Keep by firellon 2020-04-25T22:17:44Z

There were a few bugs for me: I don't know how to reproduce, but at the last level, at level 12 the bottom enemy cannon made two strange behaviors. As I was retrying a lot once it shot the house behind the wall, and once the wall didn't lose hp when it was hit by that cannon. It's cool how new the game elements were. Few of the puzzles were fairly challenging, I had to try for a good 5-10 minutes sometimes. Nicely done!

The Last of the Dino Eggs by MaybeLaterx 2020-05-12T15:36:38Z

Really fun game, only too hard. I could win finally but it depended much on luck. It took some time to understand what's going on. As others said, it's a huge map and not all slots are evenly easy to access. However it was innovative and maybe the best on the theme what I've played so far! Well done!

Living Woods by Tunahead 2020-05-08T09:06:47Z

Fun game, but really unbalanced. Also It was quite not clear when my fire dies (I guess it was always my character who died) or what remaining parts of enemies does if I collect them.

Children of Glorbux by Exploding Bits 2020-04-22T20:02:56Z

Link, installer and zip are both broken for me. :(

Keep it alive by gogu 2020-04-27T08:28:03Z

Generally I liked the game, it was fun to play the graphics was nice, the audio was ok as well, the levels were neat and challanging... Contorolling movement was sometimes frustrating (although I pressed space, I often run off platforms). It was worse, when you had to restart the level if you missed a jump... Starting from the beggining when I died was strange especially as I could restart every level any time. It was not a big problem, as it was usually easy to pass levels for second (or more) time. What concerns me the most is the graphics. Not that it wasn't cool, but I checked out the asset you referenced and it seems like your game doesn't only depend on it, but everything is from there. Have you added anything to it?

Keep it alive by gogu 2020-04-27T16:53:26Z

Thanks for the response!

Ok, I had no time for much more crucial features for my own game, so I understand :) Hope my feedback wasn't too harsh, I tried to make constructive criticism, only my English is not perfect...

Friendly Fire by very dark lord 2020-05-08T09:39:01Z

Fantastic! I liked all parts of it! Funny conversations, good story (although that fire was suspicious from the beggining), nice way of extending the world, cool graphics. Also the controls were quite smooth! Congrats!

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-04-21T18:21:44Z

@momo-hunter Thanks for the feedback! Well yes, we didn't have enough time to make a proper howtoplay :( Anyway, the description is now extended with the power-ups' abilities, if you want to give the game another go you can check them there!

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-04-22T19:52:31Z

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you liked the game! Hopefully we can extend this version later to solve the mentioned problems and add more possibilities (like more floors with ladders between them).

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-04-22T19:54:10Z

@wakobu Well done! That's quite a long time!

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-05-05T09:48:31Z

@abdurrahman-khallouf Thanks for the feedback! You are right, there is much to do, but unfortunately most of the team was quite busy, so we couldn't realise many planned features :( (yet!) However, you can actually fly using UP arrow key :) @plepletier Glad you liked it! :)

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-05-06T17:11:12Z

@ogma 107s isn't that bad! Sometimes I die much before that (and I played a looot). Thanks for the kindness and suggestion! :)

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-05-09T10:47:02Z

@karas You are absoultely right, thanks for the honest feedback! @duke Thank you very much for the detailed critics and suggestions! We were really busy during this LD, so it's really just the realization of the very core idea, but for post jam version your ideas are welcome! Powers actually have specific buttons (1-5 :D), but they just switch to the power, not activate it directly, that's true. We will try out how that feels!

Flare by emmyoop 2020-04-26T18:16:00Z

WebGL didn't work for me on Windows (couldn't click buttons in menu). Windows build worked, but it seemed buggy too a little. The fire and light effects were very cool, but some other GUI parts (like buttons) were very simple compared to them. Still very good grahpics for an LD game! I could pass some levels, but I don't fully understand the mechanics :( maybe partly because it was buggy? It seems to be fun, but I should understand it for that :(

DataHunter by A_ColtZz 2020-04-21T20:13:07Z

Innovation anf theme is not its strongest part of sure. But! I loved the style, the mood and it was fun to play. Also it's a quite neat game. Good job!

Magic Valley by SpicyPaper 2020-04-22T21:01:06Z

Hi! The grapics was great, added much to the mood! I found the audio repetitve after a short time and there wasn't any option to mute it :( Movement was a little bit buggy/confusing (at slopes mostly), crafting too and the enemies' navigation certainly buggy. It would have been nice to indicate how much time we have until night, for the first time I didn't even noticed that enemies are at my chest. If you plan to work on it, I think some balancing would be really important. For example if someone can lay down enough traps around his chest, he can survive infinitely... To sum it up: the strong part is certainly the cute world and there are quite much nice mechanics too. With some further work it can be a cool game!

The Flamethrower by Feingehacktes 2020-04-29T13:59:30Z

Really nice and polished one! The graphics was absolutely fantastic and worked together with the audio and mood of the game in general. The long death animations were a little bit annoying after a while and there was no way of restarting if you accidently throw your flame into a bad position so you had to wait until you die. It was worse when I throw it on a flame place and couldn't get it, so I couldn't die but couldn't continus either...

The Spark by Le Don 2020-04-26T20:31:41Z

I liked it very much! Not innovative, but fun to play, great amount of work especially for only one! Although graphics was not astonishing it was OK. It was hard to navigate into corridors. Generally a pretty neat one!

Sacred Guard by larsspawn 2020-04-28T13:40:08Z

Great concept and graphics, but I found it quite buggy and poorly balanced which significantly decreased how fun it was to play. What wasn't mentioned so far: - I didn't know that my little character can die too - until it died for the first time... - it was extremely easy to win (I haven't done anything after the first few waves) - I don't know what was the point of two non-purchasable slots (apart from the zooming out bug) - I couldn't close UI many times - in the menu the buttons had "Button" text in the background - stupid tower trying to shoot though th floors were annoying - the little effects added much to the generally good graphics (excluding the weird little flying enemies) - there wasn't any clue what an upgrade does, how good is it - enemies navigation was buggy (they clumped up beneath the middle floor

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-23T14:59:36Z

Really funny idea, I laughed out loud when I realized what's going on. Nice one!

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-27T16:05:06Z

Few fun stuff I noticed on myself: After a while I got slight motionsickness from turning around and around. :) Also there was a special kind of additional frustration to lose: because the music was so good I wanted to listen it more. My highscore is 41 or 42 so I usually died before the drop which was really cruel. Also what is happening at 40? Everything starts shaking, which is cool, but does it effect the ships position too? It seemed like I couldn't do the same gate twice in a row although I stayed in the same angle, but I'm not sure, I only got there like 3 times.

Overall: really fun game, great music, liked the visuals as well, my favourite so far.

Went back to play some more, and noticed I can change difficulty. I expected the speed to be lower but instead you found better way to make an easy mode, the player can see further, nice. It helped a lot. I couldn't figure out what's the difference between medium and hard tho. Also I found yet an other feature in your game: the light ond the next gate is visible even in hard. At first it wasn't easy but after a run I could predict the next gate solely by the light, it felt great. This way I could beat my highscore: now it's 67. :) I'm still not sure if the shaking does any effect on the ship or not, it feels like it's not just visual disturbance.

Keep `em alive! by SimanSimon 2020-04-23T12:59:39Z

Good concept, graphics but I agree with the others it got too complicated and hard very fast. Especially as the controls weren't so handy. I couldn't really try anti corona and items as I desperately tried to control my vehicles. I think maybe some automation could help a lot to switch from manually send cars to each house to a higher level of controlling our company.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Evacuation by someone 2022-04-06T21:19:56Z

At my first try I didn't realize I should save the civilians. Matter of fact I was told there are aliens, so I shot everything that moved. I didn't know I could leave, so I was there for a long time. I build a jungle of turrets and mines and outside this jungle was an another forest of monster corpes (btw one of the cutest least terrifying aliens I've ever encountered in my life). For my second run I educated myself a little and started to save civilians. So, it might be cheating, but I could jump off the helicopter in the first second. There I could witness how lovely the helicopter when it actually turns around after it drops off the survivors. Once when I collected a record amount of civilans I wanted to plant some mines. For my suprise poor souls triggered it. 18 dead instantly :D The turrets also hurt them! Argh! Once I to teleported to a corner of the map with all of my followers, when I spanned F at the helicopter. There are no borders. I could walk off the map to the nothingness.

So: The game looks really good, it was a lot of fun for me to goof around. I like FPS-s a lot. If I had more time I can see myself playing hours with it, trying to save all of them if possible. My record was 14 (with cheating, but how wouldn't cheat when others count on you?).

Good job!

WASDWASDWASDWASD by Beard or Die 2022-04-06T18:03:00Z

Once you buy an upgrade the UI gets a bit cluttered and not easy to remember the details - a little reminder or a larger-scale overview could help a lot with that

Seas to be by halflemonstudios 2022-04-16T16:25:27Z

@suchista there were plans for that but we didn't have time to make it happen. We have plans to follow up on the game though, maps, upgrades, objectives, resources and all that cool stuff that didn't make the basic feature cut! Thanks for playing!

Apo K'Lypse IV by Magic_mike 2022-04-08T15:35:15Z

Pretty smooth stuff overall! As far as the overall platforming experience goes I think it could've been a bit better if there was a way to drop through platforms or limit my jump height by pressing the button less - in the end when I upgraded myself fully I had difficulty lowering down to the ship while also dodging meteors!

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-07T20:35:39Z

I really like towrer defense games. The way the prices increased was really interesting in this one. It's a fun problem how to spend the least amount to get the most power on the map. I tried placing them in groups in a way two group doesn't effect each other prices. The more groups I could place like this the better. Actually it was a bit fustrating I couldn't use the area under the UI elements, I really wanted to. Also it was hard to place turrets behind existing turrets at the back. In the end my best was 10 min. It was fun. The effects, and the graphics were cool too. Good job!

Cosmic Castaway by Perrin 2022-04-07T21:49:46Z

The game has a nice atmoshere. Unfortunately I am not very good at/fond ofthis style of gameplays, so my overall experience was not that good. Some (hopefully constructive) criticism. - Texts were hard to read, too fast and constantly moving. I think already printed letters shouldn't move and there could be longer pause after all is printed out. - Hints. I had no idea what could I do. Others talked about puzzles. I couldn't solve them, because I couldn't even find them! I was wandering around and trying to do push/pull/pick/... random objects, but nothing worked, only looking. Adding some boundary effects on objects which can be handled would be wonderful. - Keep promises. From start the game kept telling me that I will understand at the end. When it was time, only a credits scene came up. - Show if an action is selected.

No rating possibility for me.

Never Alone by fachscahfttf 2022-04-07T21:34:51Z

There were many things I was expecting in a little arena survival shooter, but the ghosts of other players was not one of them. That's very clever, well done!

Un-Rooted by Denhette 2022-04-06T20:12:00Z

Haha! Ah that was a solid laugh. And the actual gameplay supported the humour well, it wasn't just standalone. That's something rare to see this well done. I found myself knocking poor plant over a few times just to see the ending lines.

Space Ninja by mhorth 2022-04-06T22:16:34Z

This global high score indicator is awesome. Also is the buttom animation. And a bunch of things, like how the meteors are slahed, and the combo counters, and how the earth demaged. (I don't think anyone is alive after one hit. If this big meteor hits, I don't know what are we protecting anymore :) ). As the others pointed it out it's an endurance game at this state. Trap meteors, all directions, smaller/faster meteors, there is a lot of thing how it could be made challenging and more fun. I'm the "madman" how got the 226k score, because finally I could be on the top of something. It wasn't that boring, I learned how important is to combo, if you wait them to come close and then slash all of them you could easyly get a 40-50 combo, and with that around 1000 points. If you just slash on the top and get ten 5 combos that's just 100 points.

It Burns by TescoOne 2022-04-06T17:48:44Z

There's a bit of randomness involved in the terrain piece generation, I wouldn't mind a small guarantee of time while I am chasing that dev high schore :)

Doomed Drone Defence by Skyward4d 2022-04-06T18:15:08Z

Very nice overall, I liked the sprites and the little animations especially. If I would change anything, it'd be small bits to the UI - the upgrade button for example looks more "clickable" when it's disabled, at least to me. And the dark green of the score/time is hard to read on the background, it could use an outline or higher contrast.

Drop by chingle 2022-04-08T13:34:22Z

Fun but devilishly hard! Maybe you could throw people weak like me a bone, and destroy a spike that I lose a life to? Just that I can maybe get further along :)

The Root of All Evil by DV_company 2022-04-06T18:09:02Z

Ah that was delightful! The only thing I'd change is make the platforming feel a bit snappier - it was a bit too much momentum and ledges just-out-of-reach for me to feel that I had complete control of the character.

Five Knights in France by Pixelydian 2022-04-08T10:46:43Z

Really nice one in all aspects! Incredibly well-rounded for a jam game, but of course you can always develop further :) So here are some opinions/suggestions, which shouldn't need too much coding: - Loved the change in music when in chase. Similarly you may change the speed of step audio according to running/hiding. - Searching the furnitures seemed kind of useless, especially for how time-consuming it was. I only searched in my first 5 minutes to increse my stamina to about 1.5X. It didn't seem to be too useful. Maybe less searchable object (e.g. only boxes) with higher rewards? - Also, I think it could add to the fun if the player doesn't find "something", but concrete objects. With some good ideas it could make the game's humour even better. - Faster movement speed. I would rather liked if the player's base speed would have been as fast as the running speed. Obviously the knights should be faster then as well. - No R to restart. Or with some "Are you sure you want to restart?" alert. I lost quite much more to pressing R by accident than from getting caught.

Lycoris by thyoi 2022-04-06T19:55:21Z

Hope you had a good sleep! Even if it's unfinished, please publish what you made. Be proud! You've done a lot of work for fun and you deserve to show it to people because that's cool no matter the end result.

Arrow's Theorem by Guy Girmonsky 2022-04-06T17:57:15Z

I'd have loved the text to snap to finished scrolling when I click it rather than going straight to the next state - I read faster than the scroll and didn't want to wait for it all the time. Aside from that, very curious concept! Entirely outside what I expected

Hard Times by Rojoin 2022-04-09T17:40:15Z

I always like to meet an FPS among Ludum Dare entries. This one gave me a lot of fun too. A lower mouse sensitivity would have been nice, at least setting to 1 wasn't low enough for me. The shooting robot doesn't have walking animation, and I'm not sure the hitboxes worked all as intended. Also sometimes the game lagged, which is fustrating in an FPS. I liked the balance and the mechanic of how I should save bullets for the meele robots and can kill the range ones with sword, I think if I concentrate it's possible to go infinite, it would be cool if I could measure my performance, with a score, or a clock. Overall nice job!

Death Chasing by Tano 2022-04-06T20:07:01Z

Wow and I thought I got far with 200. Shouldn't have read the comments if I wanted to keep feeling proud. The blue bar felt like it didn't always hit right when I pressed space but that might just be browser-timing.
