Congrats on writing a working engine and making a game that's very good! I had some genuine fun running down jumping dinosaurs. The 3D art is very basic, but I liked the simple style, it fits the simplicty of the game very well!
Game very good! I found it very fun to run away from the aliens, the graphics are basic, but it matches the style of the game.
that really felt like a war simulator or something, having a massive line of turrets defending the base (which were also shooting the civilians lol). the dithering shading honestly gives the game a really nice asthetic. the game did keep me from moving my mouse even when tabbed out so i couldn't take a good screenshot :/
That's really cool that you made this using your own engine! The game itself looks really nice, the monotone color and effects are really pleasing. But the actual gameplay is a bit buggy. For some reason no one seems to follow me when I yell.

@hawke-games Thats odd, I never encountered that issue. Were you close enough? They should only not follow if they are too far away, running from aliens, or entering the helicopter. In retrospect, perhaps the distance threshold may be a bit low.
@someone Yeah it was probably a combination of the first two

I'll be honest i did not read what i was supposed to do before starting and so i started by killing all of the residents. I realised this was wrong after the first five or so.. but by that point i was too far gone. I then proceeded to attempt to exterminate the wildlife, and after planting around 500 turrets and killing thousands of the encroaching wildlife i decided that continuing at what was now about 2 frames per second was too difficult so i finally embraced death by charging a horde of those creatures. Would have loved to see a counter at the end of how many i ended up killing. But honestly this was fantastic, i really enjoyed this and there is also some real charm in how your engine renders the 3D environment everything just feels so otherwordly. Thanks for this!
At my first try I didn't realize I should save the civilians. Matter of fact I was told there are aliens, so I shot everything that moved. I didn't know I could leave, so I was there for a long time. I build a jungle of turrets and mines and outside this jungle was an another forest of monster corpes (btw one of the cutest least terrifying aliens I've ever encountered in my life). For my second run I educated myself a little and started to save civilians. So, it might be cheating, but I could jump off the helicopter in the first second. There I could witness how lovely the helicopter when it actually turns around after it drops off the survivors. Once when I collected a record amount of civilans I wanted to plant some mines. For my suprise poor souls triggered it. 18 dead instantly :D The turrets also hurt them! Argh! Once I to teleported to a corner of the map with all of my followers, when I spanned F at the helicopter. There are no borders. I could walk off the map to the nothingness.
So: The game looks really good, it was a lot of fun for me to goof around. I like FPS-s a lot. If I had more time I can see myself playing hours with it, trying to save all of them if possible. My record was 14 (with cheating, but how wouldn't cheat when others count on you?).
Good job!
Custom game engines are always awesome! I've wanted to do my own just for fun! Great work!

I played till the framerate dropped to like 1fpm xD
I guess millions of turrets do that to you. My biggest problem was just that there were no civillians left after a few minutes. So i defended an empty landing zone from there on.
It's fascinating that you managed to have a 3D working game for the jam, with a custom engine no less! Good job.
I am extremely glad that you did it on your engine! the black-and-white style is reminiscent of horror, and it's fascinating.
Great idea for an actual game release, obviously longer dev time then a weekend needed, but the base idea is super cool. Sounds are really good, loved the turrets. Great job!
Great game! I loved the atmosphere, and how out of control it gets after a while. The audio and graphics are very pleasant, even after putting turrets absolutely everywhere. I honestly kind of suck at this game (with a success rate of only about 30%), but I had a great time nonetheless!
Wow! The atmosphere is really depressive. This game is keeping me in suspense!
Great job!

I love the atmosphere... It felt like just a small battle in this doomed world.

I really enjoyed the horde aspect of this. It really felt like I was holding off a never ending wave.

To do in your own engine is really impressive. I like the rendering/lighting/shading of the game.
Nice idea, the gameplay can hook the player. Give player some scoped weapon and increase the shot range, and this game will be much enjoyable. Points system in underdeveloped, by the reason of short play session and ineffective turrets.

Cool game, I like the idea of defending guys from a never ending onslaught of foes. Plays well and is easy to learn. The radar/minimap is a nice touch too. Having multiple endings is impressive, given the time frame of the jam. Nice work!

Pretty cool. It's fun to shoot those aliens despite the lack of gun graphics, but it really seems like the only reasonable strategy is to evacuate right away. These enemies keep multiplying and they never stop. That's an unwinnable battle. The engine seems to dislike DPI scaling. I run 4K at 150% and it didn't work right when I set the .ini file to 3840x2160 and fullscreen. I'll attach a [screenshot](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/477349680586555392/964852130387218482/unknown.png) here to show you what it did with that.
I like the art style. The bright white, sort of glowing hills. Even though it's simple and your engine is limited, you managed to make some nice-looking graphics. It was interesting how you showed the pathfinding lines, but it makes sense in this game, especially since you have to patrol such a large area.
I didn't like the unskippable intro or it being the only place in the game to figure out how to evacuate people or the Esc to instaquit.
Good job!
I like the fact that there is no limit to how many turrets you can have. lol.png

@wfmg I didn't consider the need for ui scaling. I will add it. Also those debug lines - I was sure I turned them off. Turns out a debug build also ended up in the zip file somehow. I should check my build scripts.
Turret go BRRRRRRR! Fun little game

The aliens are adorable; even their death animation is cute. The somber atmosphere mixed with their cuteness makes this game so good.
It's like I'm in this horrifying war zone where all the combatants are barneys, and I'm just mowing them down. Absolutely made my day.
kinda bland colors(just white) but game is nice and realy impressed on the fact that you made your own game engine
The game is very good and funny , good job !

It made me sad to kill the dino aliens. It also made me sad to kill the people. Why did I do it?
