LD46 — Keep it alive

Promethean Legacy: Fan the Flames by quill18 2020-04-20T02:57:26Z

Very cool, I lasted a while and was at one point close to beating the game, but no such luck.

It was fun, a tiny bit confusing at first, but learned to play within a couple turns.

Great job!

I'll be submitting my game to the jam tomorrow for the first time ever.

Mind Defender by Laura del Pino 2020-04-30T19:25:03Z

@laura-del-pino Interesting take on the theme, that's what I call thinking outside of the box (or inside of the mind), good job for that. I think there should have been some way to show the benefits of each tower ie: range, power, rate of fire, etc... With more clarity there and some more time to balance the game it could be a winner.

Manual Breathing by legavroche 2020-04-21T03:02:15Z

I really like the look of the character, that was fun. Super clever to make an endless runner and to make the player keep the runner alive by BREATHING! I think the concept was fun enough but the controls need a bit of work, I felt like I was fighting the game a bit. I think with some more time and polish this could be addicting. Good job!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-30T19:05:08Z

Wow @daniel-moreno you got lots of ratings. Good for you. I was able to finish the game. I thought it was very fun and it's the first time ever I play a game where the platforms can be rearranged, I thought that was clever.

You created enough levels to make the game fun and showed enough to make me imagine what a full release would look like.

I encountered a bug I saw someone else report also where I left the character bouncing on the edge of the screen and it eventually fell out and crashed the game.

Solid entry. Great job!

No Fish To Die by dillonbecker 2020-04-26T23:19:05Z

Cool game, I played three levels so I didn't get really deep into it but I enjoyed what I saw. I kept hitting my head on the jump on level 3, it felt a bit tight, but that kept me trying. I think you put a very creative game together and was well done. Thanks!

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-21T03:11:50Z

I like the mood of the game, the graphics are really cool. Of course with more time the animations could be improved, but it has cool mechanics. I couldn't really figure out the attack very well, it seemed hit or miss (or maybe that was me), but cool overall. Good job.

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-30T18:36:52Z

Hey @harry-alissavakis this is a cool entry. I like the look and feel of the game. As far as looks go, the only thing that could use a bit of tweaking is the run animation. I really like the concept, and I'm sure with more time to polish and balance you could have a really entertaining piece in your hands. Good job!

Feederz by Donitz 2020-04-30T19:30:17Z

@donitz That was cool! I like how you used sound and ambiance to give the player the hibigeebies, great job. I like how you incorporated the tamagotchi into a 3D game. Really cool entry. Good job!

QUBOR The Cubic Robot by deniskazantsev 2020-04-21T23:40:39Z

OH MY GOSH! My favorite so far... I love the mechanics, the idea and the execution. Really REALLY well done. When I read the concept I thought it was going to feel clunky, but it was super fun. I played it while on hold with the bank and made that hold time a breeze, so thanks for that. This is the first Ludum Dare I take part in and I see I have SO much to learn... your game is a testament of that. I haven't finished it yet, got to the home stretch and died, but I will. Really well done!

Keep Them Alive by kaeveris 2020-04-21T22:46:31Z

I really enjoyed playing your game. I struggled with the first level until I got the mechanics down but then I got going and finished a few levels with relative ease. The "win" sound came across as a losing buzzer to. me, but that is just a matter of preference. I love that you spent time making several levels. Congrats! Cool game. :)

Medic! by halflemonstudios 2020-04-30T19:16:30Z

@halflemonstudios Interesting take on the theme, never thought of controlling the medic as opposed to the "hero". I was able to keep my hero alive for about 2 minutes. I didn't quite understand the red and yellow icons so perhaps adding a help screen or mini-tutorial could have helped. Thanks for sharing your game. Good job!

A Bard's Party (Keep it alive) by Takayamushi 2020-04-21T03:23:23Z

Cool game! Never would have thought to do a rhythm game for this theme but it worked! I really like the graphic style. I wasn't a fan of the directional clicks, I struggled a lot with those. It's cool you added 3 songs for varying difficulty levels, that was a cool touch. Solid entry, great job!

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-26T19:39:57Z

So... I envy you guys (in a good way). I've always wanted to create a fun platformer game that felt original and not a reskin of existing games. I feel you've accomplished that. By introducing the egg into to mix you've added enough of a challenge without making the game overwhelming of awkward. Well done!

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-26T19:30:41Z

That was a fun game. I played the Moron Test just a few days ago and this felt very similar. I struggled to read the instructions fast enough (I read SLOWly), but overall a cool game. Loved the sound effects and goofyness of the fish.

StarDreck by xPutin88 2020-04-21T22:36:57Z

Cool game. Feels very old school (in a good way). My only gripe with it was the controls, I'm so used to inverted controls for aircrafts (up is down, down is up) that I wish that was the way your game was set up out the box, or at least have that as an option. I think some powerups would be cool as well (I also went with a very similar game and didn't implement powerups on my game either, so I know time is tight...) Good job!

DOC+ORS by bixarrio 2020-04-21T02:33:15Z

I liked the look of the game and the mood was well done. I struggled with the controls and eventually ended up giving up without a win. I love how you were able to make the voxel characters be so expressive. Really cool.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-24T18:46:29Z

@wet-band-aid I totally agree, that was the idea to begin with, but found it made the game pretty difficult when you can fly up and down in those narrow halls so I was forced to scratch that idea. I should include that in the hard setting though. Thanks for reviewing it.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-24T18:49:19Z

@peterfiftyfour I thought they were not dramatic enough. Haha I’m kidding. Hope you enjoyed the game.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-24T18:51:00Z

@moffkalast yup, VERY explody. I really love the graphics I chose, but sadly I’m not nearly talented enough to make those. They are from the Unity asset store, that’s why I disabled the category.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-24T18:52:13Z

@nsadie thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-24T18:54:49Z

@nurk great point, I had hoped to add movement to the doors and even power ups but I ran out of time. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-26T23:00:48Z

@kaeveris Thanks, I liked the assets as well. Looks like the difficulty issue is a common trend so I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the feedback.

@lyrcaxis I appreciate the help on this. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by providing the WebGL build this late but I finally figured out how to do it. Thanks for the suggestion.

@cottontshirtz Up and down doesn't come into play. We planned on having power ups you had to pick up or doors that open or close but ran out of time. Thanks for the suggestion though.

@cristi-mihai I've uploaded a WebGL build, that may be easier on your system?? (Not sure)

@masterkrepta Thanks for the comment. I'll be sure to check your game out. If I get back to messing with this game I'll definitely make the beginner easier and will make it get progressively harder.

SPACESCAPE by guipuyol 2020-04-30T19:11:18Z

@laura-del-pino you're right, I should have had a mini-tutorial showing the controls. Thanks for reviewing my entry.

@halflemonstudios Yeah, spinning around can cause motion sickness, my sister complained of the same. Hope it wasn't too bad. Since "the planetary core is unstable" I thought I'd introduce some earthquakes, the tunnels shake, but since the ship is not connected to the tunnels it doesn't affect the ship, but it does make it harder to go through the gates. The difference between easy, medium and hard is the amount of environment light so you can see further. You're hereby challenged to get to 100 gates! :) Thanks for the review.
